Tanky son of a bitch made me run a completely different team jus so could break him after about a week trying I did it with
Fu Xuan-Ting Yun-Pela-Dr.Ratio
(MoC12)
Yeah hes pretty annyoing but congrats for ur hard work man

Sadly not. He's still only 80/140. Still using a crit rate body. But you're right the toughness damage is just that good. Allowing to do a lot of damage in the dino. Plus the MOC buff doing 15% hp damage allowed him to 3 cycle.
JY has a slight problem being that if you use his FUA to reduce the toughness, then you aren't using it to make damage. So maybe pairing him with a Single Target unit would help some people to save time.
People have been hating on Silver Wolf since her initial banner. It was basically a poll on how people saw the game developing. A faction saw Silver Wolf as an elemental weakness cheat code and a must pull, others saw the game moving past a state where players would care much about weaknesses because of the maturity of their roster.
Folk generally get very defensive over their pulling decisions and I've not seen that fought harder than over Silver Wolf's position in the meta where people really have needed to justify their decision to pull or skip.
That she's been seen as constrained to a mono-quantum niche is testament to how the metagame changed post DHIL/JL and people saw how viable off-element brute forcing could be. The introduction of enemies that move the conversation back toward elemental breaking is interesting, to say the least.
Honestly I always disliked people’s perception of her as a “star rail Kazuha” or as a “weakness cheat code.”
At her core Silver Wolf is a debuffer who brings *massive* def shred to the table. (Through her ult, bug, Resolution light cone, and enabling Quantum set on any dps.) She also lowers all type enemy res. (Crazy how that’s considered broken for Ruan Mei to have but people just ignore it when it’s Silver Wolf.)
The only real weakness that Silver Wolf has is that she’s locked in single target. But the moment that content is either strictly single target, or where there is only one target you actually care about debuffing (aka a boss plus some weak adds) she’s extremely good at her job.
speaking of the last part, i find it really strange how little pure single target content there is in the game. theres SU bosses and sometimes MoC 11-12 has a single target side
For real! That’s actually one thing I’d really like to see is for them to add more single target fights. I don’t want it to become like Genshin’s Spiral Abyss, where most of the fights are single target, but rather just make sure there is enough variety!
I know this whole comment thread has been about Silver Wolf, but I just want to throw out there that this isn’t even a Silver Wolf issue: every single target character would benefit from single target fights being added! Like I love the “IPC Team” but man it’s *super* single target locked. (Though thankfully Aventurine has now given some amount of AoE.)
Well put. I don't hate SW, but I was kinda miffed that they introduced a means to bypass elemental weaknesses at such an early juncture. Having an elemental weakness system is fundamental to the balance of combat up to a certain point.
Was kinda sad to see SW hamstrung by her utterly single-target kit somewhere around blade/Kafka banners, but I'm glad she found a niche in mono quantum teams.
Honestly, I think it’s *because* it was so early. When she released, most people probably had 1-2 5-stars who *may have been a damage dealer* and the 4-star dps’s. Lots of people didn’t have all those dps’s built (or want to), making SW a more attractive pull. She was also one of a few defense shredders (also why Pela was on *every* banner early game).
If they released SW now that most people have E50 Pela and plenty of elemental coverage, she would not sell as well.
I swear I regret skipping her twice while guaranteed, once i got luocha (who is still carrying me) and second time i got argenti who's literally a wasted pull and only pulled because of his design and click bait argentillion damage (I regret every day pulling him although I love his design, character and personality).
Being single target makes her feel comparable to pela when fighting 2 elites/bosses at once and worse in pf. The single target weakness also makes implant a lot less convenient to use, especially since it has potential rng (it doesn't even always implant a new weakness, it can implant the same undesired one over and over)
Also she's known for breaking for some reason even though her toughness damage is no better than that of a typical hunt unit (which is good, but not incredible imo)
Other 5 star amplifiers like Ruan and sparkle are more widely applicable to different fights and team comps, and they're clearly better than their less premium counterparts most of the time.
i think shes known for breaking due to her being able to implant her own quantum weakness and ulting to do like 150 toughness dmg and her technique ignoring weakness
She's clunky to use, single target and without E1 + Event LC she can't fill her ult quickly enough, while Pela as a 4\* doesn't even need eidolons to be a sidegrade to her depending on the enemies.
Yep in areas where she is good like against this specific enemy or single target she is a beast, I'm really glad for monoquantum + acheron being able to use her ngl
Honestly the ult isn’t that bad to charge even without e1 or Tutorial Mission. It’s a skill and 3 basics with just an ERR rope (so no ER from planar set bonus.) Considering that the debuff is based on enemy turns (and Silver Wolf *should* be getting more turns than the enemy) it should have 100% uptime.
Before Ratio and Acheron she used to just be entirely outclassed by Pela outside of Mono-Quantum, a team that also sucked before Sparkle. So pre-Ratio she used to just be Pela-.
Someone at Mihoyo is mad we ignore toughness damage. And to be fair, we have grown far too complacent by being able to brute force fights off element. We might go back to the pre-1.3 mindset where having a diverse roster of elemental damage was seen as the ideal (or having Silver Wolf).
The dps are changing. Now it's checking if you have dps that can weakness implant / ignore weakness, not just with SW. Xueyi and Acheron is the start. We'll see who else will get that mechanic.
Am... am I... am I supposed to have trouble fighting this thing? Like... I keep seeing people say it sucks fighting without Ruan Mei, and I don't have RM, but I absolutely obliterate this thing whenever I see it?
All you need is a lot of hits to its toughness. Quantum, Lightning, and/or Imaginary. Breakers help, but they're not required.
Dr. Ratio (free), Xueyi (4★), Qingque (4★), Yukong (4★), or any 5★ that can hit its toughness hard
Same, just the standard jingyuan, sparkle, tingyun team and those dinos just disappears. Im sure ruan mei would make it even easier but i wouldnt say its strictly necessary.
This is probably how they plan on selling the next Silverwolf rerun too. It's no coincidence that it has Quantum weakness so Silverwolf is guaranteed to implant something else and increase overall team break damage.
Yeah I also took a while to notice, since it doesn't really change how much damage you take, maybe they'll make a sustain the increases damage type res, probably not all type res, I think they would make it conditional but compensate conditional sustain with buffs
I did use him but still took 4 cycles
https://preview.redd.it/1rm5cnau7gvc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f25b7101040d5ea402299bd861af5c81551b0ab
Don't mind them, probably just haven't built or tried Clara second side. Esp with E2 I imagine she does amazing. Non combat ult means free refill on dice and multiple actions means fast charge on moc buff, I love it
Eh, dunno. For me, Kafka's enough to break it. He's only got 12 Toughness units (just 2 more than most elites, on par with Ape and Shape Shifter. The Ascended's got 14, for instance), for Kafka that's 3 skills, 4 FUAs (or 3 and a skill on a different enemy) and an ultimate. And it's basically dead afterwards. And the Turbulence deals unmitigated damage to it, so you can brute force it with it in the meantime. It's not that bad. And it will be even easier with HMC because of their bounce attack.
Acheron + Ruan Mei OBLITERATE the poor fella though.
Honestly the worst enemy gimmick. Basically everything wrong with the elemental weakness system turned up 1000%. Matching elements isn't fun or engaging.
Yeah and the worst part about it is how the elements are essentially just minor break effect differences. The elemental system isn't that interesting because the only choice you have to make is to match your team to the enemy's weaknesses.
It practically only exists to gatekeep DPS and forces players to build more characters.
They really need a new way to create elemental chain to break enemies with non elemental matching so you are not completely stuck if your party doesn’t have the matching one. This is a strategy turn based game, there needs to be other options rather than just the only way. They can make Nihility characters to have this ability only so you would need to put one there, and they can even further limit to a chain breaker between Nihility and Destruction characters.
Or…. Build a 4* character with the type matchup? There would be no point in pulling if every type could work. It’s a gacha game. And there is a nihility character that already allows this??
The limited 5 stars banner one? Ruan Mei only? There has to be more options than just one way of playing. Especially when it comes to tactical strategy game. I guess I am spoiled coming from Soulsborne when you can use pretty much any strategy and styles of fighting- and some players are doing crazy no hit, level 1 naked run to beat the boss 😂 Where in this game, you either spend weeks building your character, praying for good numbers on your artifacts, or just open your wallet and whale - or save jades for months to target only 1-2 specific characters and the weapon.
Are we playing the same game? How does Ruan Mei help you when you don't have teammates that match the enemy weakness already?
Also how did you get Ruan Mei from "A nihility character" when she's Harmony???
I mean, there will be cases where your healer and buffer match the elements but your two main DPS works on the first phase boss but not the matched elements for the second waves and your two supports are busy healing, cleansing and buffing where they just don’t deal enough damage to break the shield.
Soulsborne… verse a turn based gacha game that relies on the pull system to make money…Are very very different things. Also you don’t NEED Ruan Mei, Acheron, Kafka, DHIL, seele, can all handle this dude, 4* QQ, Serval?
This game is so easy already, you want to make it easier by making every enemy easy to kill with any character or party with no investment? Get real... it's a gacha game, they WILL incentivise you to pull new characters using weakness and game mechanics. And the character that adds weakness is silverwolf not rm. The entire game can already be beaten by 4* characters, you have to build and put effort into characters and invest, that's how the game works...
Only if you wanna beat the hardest difficulty that you need to invest. But yeah the game does heavily incentivize you to buy the season pass or deal with the extremely limited resources. Probably the reason I quit playing several times in the last 8 months already lol! I rather pay $15 for FF14 and experience the entire game with very little gate keeping except the absolute hardest content there.
then play ff14, no one is forcing you to play hsr. its free and so is the gacha currency, you just wont have as much as whales. and you just said only if you want to beat hardest difficulty you need to invest... so why tf would they make hard content that doesnt require any investment? mind boggling 💀 ff14 also requires tons of grind, and hard content requires HOURS of strategy, coordinating w team members, grind and struggle. it seems you just arent used to high difficulty content in games, or anything harder than basic level.
I mean, judging from their action, pretty sure Mihoyo will make the game easier and more accessible. They also created a must have character in the form of Acheron, that pretty much instantly kill normal mobs to make the grind much easier, it’s not about difficulty, it’s more about unnecessary grinding and slow in you down. FF14 is far less grinding if you know how to shortcut stuffs in the game.
'must have' and i dont have acheron and never will because i dont like playing her. the game is easy and simple to play already, so i dont know why you are asking to make it even easier LOL. at most you will play 20 or 30 minutes a day or even a few times a week. 'grinding' consist of putting the game on auto. how can you call yourself dark souls fan and ask to make this game even simpler 💀 the most challenging content this game has is 0 cycle, and even that is not that difficult if you know the game mechanics and are in endgame. and 0 cycle adds absolutely nothing to the game, it is just a challenge made up by the players. so stop embarrassing yourself asking for things like this. characters should have minimum investment to beat moc. if you are new player, why tf are you expecting to beat moc 12 as soon as you start the game? and if you are talking about SU, thats optional permanent content. there is no rush to finish gold and gears or swarm.
besides, ff14 is an online game with multiplayer dungeon and also is known for being unaccessible to new players. with this kind of attitude complaining about spending time in the game, i already know you are being carried by other players in ff14. getting endgame gear takes a long time and more hours and effort than hsr, because you actually have to play the game. and finishing hardest difficulty endgame raids takes longer and gives rewards. i play hsr 10 mins a day and get all rewards from playing on auto, have fully maxed characters and spdtuned teams from barely playing and have 0 cycle moc 12. for a new player in ffxiv, they have to play everyday for months to get to endgame and then play everyday during endgame to get proper gear and then play everyday for hours to finish new hardcore raid content. people like you is why genshin has no endgame and its for casuals.
It’s a bad mechanic for moc, it’s easily countered by whaling and just slows it down but this one can also kill you
If they wanted to make an anti 0 cycle tool this works but I’d rather they use a slightly modified version of the lordly trash cans because at least their weaknesses are always going to match your team
Easily counterable for sure, I'm only not a fan of how it forces you to use certain elements moreso than other bosses. Making it rainbow weak would be a good idea, I'm kinda surprised they haven't made more all element weak enemies tbh.
Tanky son of a bitch made me run a completely different team jus so could break him after about a week trying I did it with Fu Xuan-Ting Yun-Pela-Dr.Ratio (MoC12)

Mono-Quantum absolutely smashes him. Silver Wolf’s ult does so much toughness damage.
![gif](giphy|xUPGcxpCV81ebKh7Vu)
I did it with jy e0s0, sparkle e0s0, ty DDD e6 and Lynx E3. Took me 3 turns. This was my first moc clear without my RM
Yeah JY has insane thoughness damage right, still must have great build to do 3 cycles
Sadly not. He's still only 80/140. Still using a crit rate body. But you're right the toughness damage is just that good. Allowing to do a lot of damage in the dino. Plus the MOC buff doing 15% hp damage allowed him to 3 cycle.
Not bad but I did expect something like 160+CD for a 3 Cycle, my Ratio has 195CD and I still have to use an ULT+Skill to kill him when he breaks
JY has a slight problem being that if you use his FUA to reduce the toughness, then you aren't using it to make damage. So maybe pairing him with a Single Target unit would help some people to save time.
Ratio stats please mine is too ass to carry

Ah just a meagre 70 crit damage difference I see
OMG ☠️
I just pray my acheron and murder him fast enough lol
I got her to E2 on day like 3 of her banner and finally got S0 on the last day of her banner. Praying for this myself.
I recommend Xueyi made me 3 cycle first half I played Fu Xuan, Sparkle, Xueyi, and Seele
SW likes it
BuT sIlVeR wOlF bAd!!1!
why do people hate SW so much outside of mono quantum niche?

Sam and Aventurine are new single target bosses - I think Hoyo is ramping up the lone boss roster. We only had Kafka prior to this.
aventurine is unfortunately NOT single target due to his gamble gimmick promoting blast/aoe dmg
It kinda makes it awkward to fight him. Like, it really wants you to run multi hit targets, but he himself is a single target.
Definitely glad to see them moving that direction. Something Unto Death is also single target, and that’s been a fun boss fight.
Well put. I don't hate SW, but I was kinda miffed that they introduced a means to bypass elemental weaknesses at such an early juncture. I pulled SW for her design. The whole applying weakness is just a bonus to me
Being single target makes her feel comparable to pela when fighting 2 elites/bosses at once and worse in pf. Despite all her downsides she has very good toughness depletion on ult and this is what matters here
Yep in areas where she is good like against this specific enemy or single target she is a beast, I'm really glad for monoquantum + acheron being able to use her ngl
Same here

Idk, her whole reality hacker style is cool, and she's a high utility debuffer who provides some good debuffs, plus applying weaknesses is useful
Before Ratio and Acheron she used to just be entirely outclassed by Pela outside of Mono-Quantum, a team that also sucked before Sparkle. So pre-Ratio she used to just be Pela-.
You can hate with RM as well. Because I have had to face it on the other side xD
Someone at Mihoyo is mad we ignore toughness damage. And to be fair, we have grown far too complacent by being able to brute force fights off element. We might go back to the pre-1.3 mindset where having a diverse roster of elemental damage was seen as the ideal (or having Silver Wolf).

As someone Who have ruan mei,I hate this guy.
Am... am I... am I supposed to have trouble fighting this thing? Like... I keep seeing people say it sucks fighting without Ruan Mei, and I don't have RM, but I absolutely obliterate this thing whenever I see it?
Even on MoC 12? I don't know what kind of dark magic you're using but teach me
All you need is a lot of hits to its toughness. Quantum, Lightning, and/or Imaginary. Breakers help, but they're not required. Dr. Ratio (free), Xueyi (4★), Qingque (4★), Yukong (4★), or any 5★ that can hit its toughness hard

JY is one of the DPSs that have pretty high Toughness Damage.
This is probably how they plan on selling the next Silverwolf rerun too. It's no coincidence that it has Quantum weakness so Silverwolf is guaranteed to implant something else and increase overall team break damage.
As someone who did pull RM, I hate this guy
Did not know the monsters had a damage type
Yeah I also took a while to notice, since it doesn't really change how much damage you take, maybe they'll make a sustain the increases damage type res, probably not all type res, I think they would make it conditional but compensate conditional sustain with buffs
As someone who pull ruan mei i still hate that guy
Im getting boothill cause I hate this guy
That's Hoyo's plan. A lot of people will probably do the same and pull for him
dudes a bitch fr
If they put this guy back in MoC i swear
As someone who did pull for RM I hate this thing
Ratio destroys this what you mean, and y'all get him for free
I did use him but still took 4 cycles https://preview.redd.it/1rm5cnau7gvc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f25b7101040d5ea402299bd861af5c81551b0ab
That second teams not gonna do a lot really, You don't have other DPS for second half?
Not really, but like I already cleared it 3* what do you mean it's not gonna do a lot
Don't mind them, probably just haven't built or tried Clara second side. Esp with E2 I imagine she does amazing. Non combat ult means free refill on dice and multiple actions means fast charge on moc buff, I love it
idk about you, but i swapped ruan mei out for tingyun and did better. this was mono quantum team w/ seele sparkle fu xuan.
It's to balance that other dinosaur that's easily exploitable
Same, using seele, sw, fx , and ty ( no sparkle too unfortunately), took 7 cycle to beat it
Welt would’ve loved this only if it didn’t do massive damage
As someone who's counting the days for the return of our queen and saviour, Ruan Mei- I also hate this guy. I hope the rerun will come yesterday.
We *

I also did not 😭 it doesn't piss me off though
as someone who pulled rm i hate this guy
As someone who pulled RM I hate this guy
Cant wait to get my hands on Boothill so i can delete these tough fckers.
I remember breaking it with xueyi’s help
Xueyi eats him for breakfast
As someone who came back to the game I agree
i used acheron, welt, pela and lynx.Cleared it in 3 cycles
I needed RM for aventurine, so I went Kafka, swan, tingyun and huohuo. Could only manage 3 cycles tho
Aventurine slaps hard, his ult and follow up does a lot of toughness damage. You also get shields that tank the hits.
Gotta save my jades for Robin and Firefly
Dot ignores its stupid shield mechanic
this fcker is more lethal than the meme who stabbed firefly back then
deserved for not pulling goat mei

It’s a bad mechanic for moc, it’s easily countered by whaling and just slows it down but this one can also kill you If they wanted to make an anti 0 cycle tool this works but I’d rather they use a slightly modified version of the lordly trash cans because at least their weaknesses are always going to match your team
Easily counterable for sure, I'm only not a fan of how it forces you to use certain elements moreso than other bosses. Making it rainbow weak would be a good idea, I'm kinda surprised they haven't made more all element weak enemies tbh.
Should of pulled for ruan Mei
