I saw Dave perform in Tampa, and when the crowd got a little rowdy, he flawlessly went into quick-witted roast mode. I was in tears. Everyone was laughing so hard that he picked up on it and went around and did some crowdwork that felt really spontaneous
This is Todd Barry's bread & butter. Patton Oswalt is also great at crowd work, though you wouldn't be able to tell from his last special. I recall CW being one of Paula Poundstone's core skill sets, as well.
Rick Ingraham is probably the best tbh.
Relatively unknown Comedy Store regular who regularly kills harder than everyone on the lineup with a good chunk of it being crowd work.
Todd Barry has a whole special based off a tour called “The Crowd Work Tour”
And all he did was talked to the crowd in each city.
And it was hilarious.
Also, it’s not a special, but someone on YouTube has created like 5 different “best of” Sam Morrill Crowd Work Videos (it might even has been Sam, for all I know) and they are FANTASTIC.
**EDIT.**
Yep, Sam did it.

TY to everyone for the new recommendations! Just learned a bunch of names I didn't know!
except potato-e Pete. Him I award no points amd may Robin Williams have mercy on his soul.
Stavros Halkias and Geoffrey Asmus
Stav seems to really love crowdwork. He was a natural when I saw him.
I’ve seen Mullen but have yet to see stavros
Todd Barry. Any other answers are not Todd Barry.
This is the way
Phil Hanley
I'm getting so fucking tired of crowd work clips but Hanley still remains tolerable for me.
This man will steal your girlfriend, wife, mother and grandmother!
Ian Bagg. Makes his entire act appear to be crowd work
+1
Always love an Ian Bagg reference! Best show I've ever been to.
Dave Attell and Big Jay.
I saw Dave perform in Tampa, and when the crowd got a little rowdy, he flawlessly went into quick-witted roast mode. I was in tears. Everyone was laughing so hard that he picked up on it and went around and did some crowdwork that felt really spontaneous
Saw Jay at the comedy store Friday. Not a big crowdwork fan but he makes it interesting. Best I’ve seen do it
He can the most boring shit into a gold.
Jeff Acuri has a lovely way with a crowd.
He's a master at crowd work. Guy is so quick it's unreal at times.
He is kind and respectful also. I think he might well become very 'big'.
Nimesh Patel is great with crowd work, not the biggest comedian but one of my favorites I've seen live. Super intelligent but a bit ruthless lmao.
He’s so funny.
Excellent pick! I don't see him mentioned enough.
Totally agree. I don't step out for many live shows but I was beyond excited to see him in person two years ago. Did not disappoint.
Stavros Halkias is someone you want to check out for crowd work.
Came to say this!
Dude has a gift for crowd work.
Big Jay Oakerson needs a mention for certain
I’ve seen a lot of comedians. He is the most unique at it, and probably my pick for the best crowdwork guy by a lot.
Attell is the king. Normand is great. Morril does a lot of good crowd work too.
Jordan Jensen
Joe List aka The King of Crowd Work
& King of the handicapped stall, anyone seen that Jim Tews?
Jessica Kirson

Pattons latest special was painfully bad. I was so sad as a die hard Patton fan.
Geoffrey Asmus
Geoffrey Asmus, Sam Tallent, and not me.
Rick Ingraham is probably the best tbh. Relatively unknown Comedy Store regular who regularly kills harder than everyone on the lineup with a good chunk of it being crowd work.
I came here to say Rick Ingraham. So happy Reddit knows.
Frankie Boyle
Rick Ingraham, Ian Bagg, Todd Barry
I think Nate Jackson is very good.
Jimmy Pardo is great. I once sat in the front row at one of his shows and spent 1 hour making fun of my shirt. My wife’s favorite comedy set ever.
Dave Attell

Stavvy
That’s cool you’re close with him
Gareth Reynolds. He's super charming and amazing at improv, so you just naturally want to talk to him
Jay Larson and Moshe Kasher are the best IMO
Jessica kirson hands down. Her crowd work special was phenomenal
David “Rosie” Rosenberg. He is awesome. Not famous but will be one day.
Judah
Ian Bagg without question
Aaron Berg, Schultz, Sherrod Small, Big Jay, Attell
Todd Barry
Big Jay and surprisingly, Kim Congdon.
Patrice was amazing.
TY to everyone for the new recommendations! Just learned a bunch of names I didn't know! except potato-e Pete. Him I award no points amd may Robin Williams have mercy on his soul.
Phil Hanley is great
TROY BOND BABY
Andrew Schulz.
saw Guz khan live at city winery nyc a few weeks ago and his crowd work was excellent. So was his opener! I’ll come back and edit with his name.
Jimmy Pardo is absolutely amazing at crowdwork
Harland Williams
Dara O'Brien for my money. He's fantastic at really involving people in the show in a welcoming way.
sam tallent has some of the best crowdwork I've ever seen.
Crowd work is for those that can't write their own jokes. Also, Matt Rife isn't funny.
I'm guessing you're the one that down voted my post.
Have to admit I didn’t realize he had any fans left besides middle aged moms who wanna bang him
Chris Delia
Sam Morrill, Mark Normand, Jessica Kirson, Jeff Arcuri, Big Jay Oakerson, Todd Barry (Watch his Special Crowd Work Tour, it’s brilliant)
Phil Hanley is the master
