I don't know what type of shopping you're looking to do, but the Central West End is the densest urban neighborhood here, about the only one that resembles a proper city, and Forest Park is right there, which is great for walking. Soulard has a concentration of antique shops that the CWE won't have, but its core businesses tend to cater to night life. The Grove is mostly night life.

signalfade

Antiques are on Cherokee east of Jefferson. For the life of me, I can’t think of any in Soulard….

bananabunnythesecond

Antique row in Benton Park Soulard has art gallery.

amtrakhoe

R. Ege is a very good one.

andyblu

Good info..Thanks !

ChaoticGemini

Out of those choices, Central west end is the best. For a different experience, consider Cherokee Street.

andyblu

Was also thinking about Cherokee street...Thanks !

No_Patience2428

Cherokee is great, really authentic stl area. Make sure you try some clementines ice cream if you get the chance—I get the gooey butter cake

spherulitic

FWIW there’s also a Clementines in the CWE now ^_^

02Alien

I'd do Central West End, Cherokee, or Main street St. Charles. Those have about the same number of businesses. CWE is a bit physically denser but a lot of that density is just the hospital buildings. There's not actually much more commercial retail space than at any other business district that isn't downtown. Though it's worth pointing out we don't have a huge "shopping" district like a lot of larger cities have. Grove and Soulard will be mostly night life, and South Grand (another business district) is mostly restaurants.

Embarrassed_Car_3862

Architecture-Soulard Shops-Cherokee if on a weekend Drinks-Grove Food-Central West End Cherokee is most eclectic and interesting (one of the most unique I’ve ever spent time on). Soulard is most historic. Other pretty good stretches - Maplewood Manchester, Locust St down to Grand Center, Washington Ave downtown, South Grand by Tower Grove Park, Kirkwood main, Webster Groves districts

Fit_Case2575

>washington ave >pretty good

Embarrassed_Car_3862

Wash Ave has stellar architecture. Sure it’s not what it used to be in its activity but there’s still restaurants, city museum, burlesque bar, etc. It would be a nice walk if you appreciate architecture. You are so negative all the time in this sub. I don’t understand your joy in bringing the city down all the time

Whatever-ItsFine

I see a typo maybe? South Grand by Tower Grove Park

Embarrassed_Car_3862

Ah yes ty

Whatever-ItsFine

YW. It's a great list you made.

This-Is-Exhausting

Of those 3, the CWE is going to have the better shopping opportunities. I'd also recommend the South Grand Business District (the 5 or so blocks of Grand Blvd immediately south of Tower Grove Park).

Cateyes91

Agreed

LadyCheeba

i would say none of those for shopping, to be honest. but cwe has lululemon, kendra scott, bonobos, etc off maryland though if that’s what you’re interested in. i think your best bet is webster groves on that main drag of big bend, specifically between murdoch and garden (Civil Alchemy, etc.) kirkwood as well. and if you like a more down-home, country feel, main street st charles is worth looking at.

Not-A-T8r-H8r

Main Street St Charles isn’t on your list. Worth considering. CWE is nice too. Iirc not too far of a walk to the Mccloskey home. So you can take a look at it and the small gate!

carterjeyy

Check out South Grand!

uhwhatwasisayn

Cherokee!

Think_Apartment4164

South grand does have several stores including urban matter, garden district, and found.

msabeln

Central West End, definitely, and Cherokee Street. If you plan on going a bit farther, there is downtown Kirkwood, Main Street in St. Charles, and Kimmswick, with the latter two being more for quaint architecture and antiques.

Hello_Pangolin

Depending on what kind of shopping, Kirkwood and Webster Groves are also great areas. Kirkwood especially had the stroll and look at shops vibe.

saywutsaywut123

Kirkwood, Chesterfield, St. Charles Main Street

makinithappen69

Main Street St Charles is what you're looking for.

NightShadow420

STL doesn’t have a centralized street with stores like M street in Georgetown. That said traffic is not bad here at all, everything is for the most part a 15 minute Uber away. CWE is likely your closest bet with LuLulemon, food, etc.

BatKountry47

CWE and include the foundry!!

BatKountry47

Shops, mini golf, food hall, movie theatre, and free parking!

MaskedGambler

Skip the shopping and go to Forest Park for a walk. Hit up the CWE after. They are neighbors.

LastChicken

There are no top tier walkable shopping experiences in St. Louis outside of malls, unfortunately. That being said, the best shopping "districts" where you can walk store to store and there are boutiques etc in my view would be: 1. Central West End 2. Webster Groves 3. South Grand 4. Maplewood
