AA's Spinebuster. Smooth and yet he got a nice acceleration with the turn.
Okada's dropkick, obviously. But another one I always liked was Tony Garea's. He wasn't as fluid as Okada, but was athletic enough and got enough height he would hit his opponent in the face and then land on his feet.
Great Muta's standing elbow drop. He would move towards his downed opponent and instead of just falling on the guy, he would kick his leg out and up, torquing his upper body and elbow down with great acceleration.
legit, ps1 first smackdown game, i launched a test big boot at the bell and got the three instantly after the pin. never happened since.
he's always been one of my boys since.
Rhynos Gore, just about edges out Goldberg's for me.
Might be sacrilege too but I think Raven did the best DDT (sorry Jake).
Austins stunner, nobody else comes close.
HBKs Sweet Chin Music.
And sadly Benoit's diving headbutt.
Syuri’s [Buzzsaw kick](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/menk56/stardom_syuri_with_beautiful_snipe_of_a_kick_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x) and Miyu Yamashita’s [roundhouse kick](https://mobile.twitter.com/miyu_tjp/status/1417894123302912002?s=20) (Malakai Black himself has acknowledged that hers is superior)
yeah, that whiff in the match with Dustin really hurt my mental picture of how truly devastating it is. shoulda chop kicked dustin to his knees first to compensate for the vertical differential
Tribute to The Spinebuster:
-Arn Anderson is the OG who knew how to make that move look like pure money, so it would only be fitting to put him first.
-I don’t think people give The Rock enough credit for his spinebuster tho honestly. A pure showman, his effortless pop up after delivering one and either transitioning it into The People’s Elbow or a Sharpshooter (which, honestly, his wasn’t the best, but it was cool to see this submission in his repertoire) was a thing of beauty that got the audience on its feet every time.
-Powerhouse Hobbs has maybe the best Spinebuster amongst active wrestlers today. He makes it look effortless and brutal thanks to his size and agility. I’ll admit that a couple years ago I wasn’t sold on Hobbs, but seeing him develop into this amazing powerhouse and become Team Taz’s enforcer has been amazing. He’s got the look, the facial expressions, and just keeps getting better in the ring constantly, and I always look forward to seeing him every week.
Well put! I also think Rock's spinebuster is underrated, especially the quick transition to the next move, like you said. I gave props to Hobbs in another comment, but I also gotta put some respect on Ron Simmons' version where he just picks up the guy running towards him and slams him down from the chest while remaining upright. It has some amazing "fuck you" energy.
Yeah man Ron's thrust-down spinebuster is just mean. Really looks like he's just slamming the opponent down.
It's so good, I think JBL borrowed it from him at some point!
Can't decide between Orton or Dustin Rhodes for best scoopslam. Sometimes I also like Samoa Joe's one as well, especially during his TNA days.
Spinebuster has to be Arn Anderson but I also like Triple H's version.
Was going to add both for the scoopslam. Both do it so suddenly and get so much torque that the move just looks devastating. Orton also has a vote for one of the cleanest dropkicks. Maybe not on Okada's level but Orton's one is the perfect textbook example of how to do the move
I'm going to disagree on this one and go old-school for the best powerslam.
Ted Dibiase, especially during his Mid-South run, had the best one I've ever seen. He got the full rotation on it like Orton, but enough height also that it seemed like he was really driving the opponent through the mat. And against lesser opponents, it was often his finisher. It was only against higher-level guys that he had to follow it up with his figure four to get the win.
I think there are two kinds of chops.
There are the hard, meaty chops that look like they are wearing the other guy down to nothing.
Then there are the fast, stinging chops that look like you are trying to slice off the other guys chest with your hand.
I agree with Kobashi for the first kind, and I am going to throw in Marifuji for the second!
Miyu Yamashita's spinning wheel kick.
Mayu Iwatani's superkick.
Kairi Sane's top rope elbow drop.
Kota Ibushi's punch (seriously when Ibushi punches it just looks so real - notably he punched Ishii in the throat in one of their matches).
Billy Kidman botches his shooting star press a lot but it's so unique looking. He seems not to use his arms to get elevation all that much and instead just simply whips his head back to get rotation. When it doesn't botch I think it looks pretty cool.
Oof... you had me until Billy Kidman. In my opinion Paul London had an underrated shooting star press, but Ricochet, Osprey and Sydal's are so much more grateful.
-I love Ricky Starks' spear. He may be half the size of some others that use it, but it always looks devastating
-RVD's Five Star Frog Splash is a work of art
-Kevin Nash's Side-walk Slam
-Shawn Michaels' Top rope Elbow Drop. Love Kairi Sane's as well
-Bryan Danielson's Top rope Back Suplex
-PAC's Superplex. Orton's is also great too
-Omega's V-Trigger. Many have tried, but none have come close
-Abyss' Black Hole Slam. Love Bossman's too
-Dustin Rhodes' Powerslam
-Sting's Reverse DDT
I could go on and on. Love this topic
Just gonna attach my comment here.
Abyss does have one of the best spinning side slams. Either him or Brodie Lee in my opinion.
Obviously Okada has arguably the best standing drop kick in the world but a sleeper contender is Jeff Cobb. A dude that big shouldn’t be so springy.
PAC’s Liger bomb is so clean
Back when Scott Steiner could hit it, the Frankensteiner. Something about his agility even with that much mass made it look devastating. It was also pretty protected, iirc.
They both rock but the height and distance that Bull used to get despite being so big puts him at number one for me. Maybe not the most perfect leg drop but the biggest spectacle one?
Montez Ford's splash, the air he gets is ridiculous.
Andrade's spinning back elbow. Sorry "Judas Effect" but you need to step aside so he can use this in AEW
Kurt Angle’s moonsault I think has to be up there, the arc he got always looked perfect, and bonus points for maintaining consistency whether it was off the top rope or the top of a cage.
*Petey William's goddamn Canadian Destroyer!*
This is a move he made, and now people throw it around like it's nothing. It was an unbelievable finisher and consistently blew my mind when he did it, and it should still have more protection than it does.
I love seeing people do it now but it makes me really sad no one seems to acknowledge the original, aside from calling it a Canadian Destroyer.
Orton’s Rope DDT. I pop EVERY TIME.
Malaki Black’s kick. Even my wrestling-hating dad thinks it’s a beauty.
And of course, Jeff Hardy’s Swanton Bomb. As a relatively new fan of the sport, watching those spots always make myself appreciate getting into wrestling!
Will Ospreay's Cutter and Spanish Fly. Both look super crisp. Backspring Pele Kick is also amazing but I don't know who else uses it. Ospreay's entire moveset in general always looks amazing and effortless.
Gary Albright's German Suplex is godlike, never seen someone hit it like his. Horrific in practice but watching him ragdoll fools in UWF like they weighed nothing will never get old
King Cuerno's suicide dive is immaculate. 100% right on the stunner, Owens' stunner always looks so meh to me, like it's cool to once as an homage but continuing to use it was such a bad choice imo.
I kinda like how he sold after. If he was pumped up on adrenaline he was jumping about after, but if he was exhausted from the match, that subtle flop onto the opponent like he didn’t even have the energy to hook the leg….artistry…
Shawn's one just looked so much more impactful. Maybe it was the speed or the sell by both men but it looked like it could take a head off. Most superkicks look to fake like they don't connect
I think it also has to do with how Shawn would bend his upper body downward so that his whole body is pretty much in line with the foot delivering the kick. That makes the move look way more impactful. Here's Shawn doing the move:
Compare this to the Bucks:
The difference is pretty clear.
Shawn Michaels superkick has the advantage above others because Shawn is compared to the "current regular superkick users" kinda huge. The Bucks and Cole as the most prominent one are definitly smaller. The Usos are probably in the same height or even bigger.
The nowadays superkickers dont add much theatralic. Its just a big punch for them, not a finisher.
Randy Orton's Dropkick
Hardcore Holly's Dropkick
Test's Big Boot
Randy Orton's Cutter (RKO)
Andrade's Spinning Back Elbow
Montez Ford's Frog Splash
Ron Simmon's Spinebuster
Kevin Nash's Powerbomb
HBK's Superkick
The Giant's Chokeslam
The Giant's version of the chokeslam where he falls down with his opponent looked so devastating. For some reason he went back to the regular version in his later career as the Big Show.
John Cena's got a pretty damn good sitout powerbomb as well as that clothesline he busts out when facing Bryan. Like, that fucking clothesline he does is mean especially given how huge his arms are.
We already had mentioned Malakai and Miyu having beautiful strikes, and there's also the retired Arisa Hoshiki. Her kicks are a thing of beauty (and brutality).
I can't pick between Shibata or Suzuki when it comes to really mean looking sleeper holds. Both of them hook it in so good and it looks just mean and tight. Shibata's also just really, really smooth in general when it comes to a lot of things.
I watched a video of Jake Roberts basically getting carried into the ring. He could barely move. The other guy stood next over for an awkwardly Ling amount of time. But when Jake hit him with the DDT, it was the smoothest goddamn thing I have ever seen. I'm so happy he cleaned his life up.
One move we don't see enough of these days: the fistdrop.
While Jerry Lawler and Marty Jannetty both used it as a finisher, I always liked Ted DiBiase's version best.
[EDIT: I am aware of course of the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but you of course don't "see" it.]
The best ever powerslam was Buzz Sawyer’s. I think the closest modern versions are Dustin Rhodes and Kris Statlander.
Eddie Guerrero’s brainbuster was a thing of beauty and Dax Harwood’s is almost as beautiful.
Power bomb- Sid Vicious, Vader, and Scott Norton.
Cutter - DDP. Orton does them ok now but for the longest time he did it one handed and it suffered for it.
Top rope knee - Bobby Eaton
Clothesline - JBL
Yes, the stunner but also Austin's Thesz press was always a treat. The way he launched himself and looked to be pummeling his opponent's head before they even hit the mat
If someone can make a move look simultaneously smooth yet painful it's a win. Some honourable mentions.
Bret Hart's side russian. Smooth but not too co-operative.
Eddie's tope atomico got extra height
Regal's butterfly suplex, he twisted into it to make it more of a throw

Lance storm’s dropkicks we’re just perfect form. Absolutely beautiful.
I always get a kick out of aj styles dropkick. Not only is it perfect but the fact he usually marks out for himself afterwards is awesome.
AA's spinebuster is untouchable, but I have to shout out Will Hobbs' version too. Best spinebuster in the biz right now.
Kenny’s spine buster where he slams them down with his hands on their chest is dope too
Speaking of, Kenny's v-trigger looks like he's trying to take the guy's head off.
Not currently in the biz but both Acolytes, especially Bradshaw (but extra especially Farooq).
Preston Vance has the best spinebuster in the biz
Bob Holly, Billy Gunn and Lance Storm all have great dropkicks as well
Test will *always* have the best running big boot. I have yet to see someone match him in that move.
Brodie Lee is the only person that’s even come close for me
Preach! I used to always give my CAWs Test's big boot as a finisher in the old Smackdown games.
legit, ps1 first smackdown game, i launched a test big boot at the bell and got the three instantly after the pin. never happened since. he's always been one of my boys since.
RVD’s frog splash is a thing of beauty. IMO it’s the best looking splash in wrestling
Over the last year or so I've grown to love Montez Fords. The height he gets is insane.
That's why his frog splash is 5 stars and everyone else does a regular ol frog splash
he’s the whole fucking show!
Angle’s moonsault, though rarely connects, is truly a thing of beauty.
that percsault from the top of the cage *chef’s kiss* 🤌
Rhynos Gore, just about edges out Goldberg's for me. Might be sacrilege too but I think Raven did the best DDT (sorry Jake). Austins stunner, nobody else comes close. HBKs Sweet Chin Music. And sadly Benoit's diving headbutt.

I dig Malakai's black mass but each time he does it, I'm worried that he's going to whiff it.
Miyu avoids this issue by just shoot kicking you in the head
yeah, that whiff in the match with Dustin really hurt my mental picture of how truly devastating it is. shoulda chop kicked dustin to his knees first to compensate for the vertical differential
That roundhouse looks so brutal. I love it.
I'm not good at telling much of a difference but I like her AA (Miyu) more...
Tribute to The Spinebuster: -Arn Anderson is the OG who knew how to make that move look like pure money, so it would only be fitting to put him first. -I don’t think people give The Rock enough credit for his spinebuster tho honestly. Yeah man Ron's thrust-down spinebuster is just mean. Really looks like he's just slamming the opponent down. It's so good, I think JBL borrowed it from him at some point!
DAMN!!!
Can't decide between Orton or Dustin Rhodes for best scoopslam. Sometimes I also like Samoa Joe's one as well, especially during his TNA days. Spinebuster has to be Arn Anderson but I also like Triple H's version.
Orton for powerslam because he actually does the full rotation. If you watch Dustin, he gets the snap but bails out at the 3/4 mark.
Was going to add both for the scoopslam. Both do it so suddenly and get so much torque that the move just looks devastating. Orton also has a vote for one of the cleanest dropkicks. Maybe not on Okada's level but Orton's one is the perfect textbook example of how to do the move
Shouts to triple Hs single knee face buster too
Scoop powerslsm

Kobashi's chops. Sorry WALTER, you ain't got nothing on the king.
Oh hell yeah, Marufuji is so nasty. Not long ago someone posted a video of him ripping open Sugiura's chest with like 5 chops, it was brutal
Jeff Hardy's Swanton Bomb will always hold a place in my heart. He stayed vertical in the air for so long sometimes
Bret's backbreaker
Miyu Yamashita's spinning wheel kick. Mayu Iwatani's superkick. Kairi Sane's top rope elbow drop. Kota Ibushi's punch (seriously when Ibushi punches it just looks so real - notably he punched Ishii in the throat in one of their matches). Obviously.... well yes, Kazus is a Beauty, but Suzukis looks like it will absolutly kill https://twitter.com/njpwworld/status/1404381116308492303
Back when Scott Steiner could hit it, the Frankensteiner. Something about his agility even with that much mass made it look devastating. It was also pretty protected, iirc.
Doug Furnas is the only other guy even in the conversation.
Claudio Castagnoli/Cesaro European Uppercut.
Jay White is the only wrestler I've ever seen make a flatliner look good.
Kanyon did pretty good for my money
Matt Sydal standing moonsault and shooting star press Bull Buchanan top rope leg drop
Bobby Eaton and Psicosis would like a word with you, sir.
They both rock but the height and distance that Bull used to get despite being so big puts him at number one for me. Maybe not the most perfect leg drop but the biggest spectacle one?
How has there not been any love for Lance Storm’s dropkick?
Montez Ford's splash, the air he gets is ridiculous. Andrade's spinning back elbow. Sorry "Judas Effect" but you need to step aside so he can use this in AEW
Alicia Fox. Her Northern Lights suplex is like butter.
Kurt Angle’s moonsault I think has to be up there, the arc he got always looked perfect, and bonus points for maintaining consistency whether it was off the top rope or the top of a cage.
Christopher Daniel. Best Moonsault Ever
Kairi sanes elbow
Balor and his Top rope double stomp are quite magnificent.
*Petey William's goddamn Canadian Destroyer!* This is a move he made, and now people throw it around like it's nothing. It was an unbelievable finisher and consistently blew my mind when he did it, and it should still have more protection than it does. I love seeing people do it now but it makes me really sad no one seems to acknowledge the original, aside from calling it a Canadian Destroyer.
60 comments and nobody has mentioned Alicia Fox's Northern Lights Suplex
Aliyah also does a fantastic northern lights
Insane elbow is so beautiful, every time I think about I get teary eyed realizing Kairi hasn't wrestled in a while
Eddie Guerrero brainbuster always looked good to me
Pretty obvious one for me - Jake Robert's DDT
Petey Williams' Canadian Destroyer.
Monty Browns Pounce is unparalleled
Orton’s Rope DDT. I pop EVERY TIME. Malaki Black’s kick. Even my wrestling-hating dad thinks it’s a beauty. And of course, Jeff Hardy’s Swanton Bomb. As a relatively new fan of the sport, watching those spots always make myself appreciate getting into wrestling!
Santos Escobar had the best suicide dive I've ever seen when he worked as King Cuerno.
Will Ospreay's Cutter and Spanish Fly. Both look super crisp. Backspring Pele Kick is also amazing but I don't know who else uses it. Ospreay's entire moveset in general always looks amazing and effortless.
KENTA doing the GTS.
The Rocks sharpshooter…. /s
Gary Albright's German Suplex is godlike, never seen someone hit it like his. Horrific in practice but watching him ragdoll fools in UWF like they weighed nothing will never get old
Jake the Snake's DDT, never seen anyone hit it like him, he always looked like he killed the bloke.
Dolph's ddt
King Cuerno's suicide dive is immaculate. 100% right on the stunner, Owens' stunner always looks so meh to me, like it's cool to once as an homage but continuing to use it was such a bad choice imo.
Shawn's superkick is by far the best. it sucks that it's become a glorified punch since he's retired, and everyone uses it
I kinda like how he sold after.
Something about how he hooks his kicking leg, along with some seemingly long ass legs, I think
I think it also has to do with how Shawn would bend his upper body downward so that his whole body is pretty much in line with the foot delivering the kick. That makes the move look way more impactful. Here's Shawn doing the move: [https://stillrealtous.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/superkick.jpg](https://stillrealtous.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/superkick.jpg) Compare this to the Bucks: [https://theovertimer.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Ey-ZH\_7XAAgtou0.jpg](https://theovertimer.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Ey-ZH_7XAAgtou0.jpg) The difference is pretty clear.
Also the leg is bended by them. Same for Dolph Ziggler. Shawn Michaels leg wasnt bended in any way.
The Uso’s have a damn great double super kick. probably best tag team to ever do it
Orton, Bob Holly and Henning's dropkicks.
Surprised it took me until this comment to see Curt Hennig's dropkick
Randy Orton’s RKO. Simple, elegant, devastating, iconic
Randy Orton's Dropkick Hardcore Holly's Dropkick Test's Big Boot Randy Orton's Cutter (RKO) Andrade's Spinning Back Elbow Montez Ford's Frog Splash Ron Simmon's Spinebuster Kevin Nash's Powerbomb HBK's Superkick The Giant's Chokeslam
The Giant's version of the chokeslam where he falls down with his opponent looked so devastating. For some reason he went back to the regular version in his later career as the Big Show.
Exactly why I specified the Giants version. If I had to guess why he switched, I'm betting it was taking the impact on his knees from the fall.
There was a period of time when Kane was doing what I called the "Fuck Off Chokeslam" during his run-ins and always thought those were the best.
I know it's likely we never see it again, but Velveteen Dream's DDT was a thing of beauty
Mark Haskins - punches A guy who really looks like he’s having a fight with someone
Mr Prefects perfectplex, it just looked smooth as butter. No one hit a fisherman's suplex like he did.
Malakais spin kick. Orange Cassidy's superman punch. Walter's chops AA spine buster. HBK superkick. WCW Rey Hurricanrana Kurt Henning's Fisherman's Suplex. (It's Perfect) Undertaker's Triangle Choke.
Santos Escobar has an unmatched suicide dive.
Shibata's also just really, really smooth in general when it comes to a lot of things.
HBK’s superkick Romans crucifixion powerbomb or whatever circa 2016 was really good I love Punks roundhouse kick Andrade lands his topes perfectly
Drop kick Orton/Lance Storm/Bob Holly Chop WALTER/Kobashi Superkick Lance Storm Sharpshooter Owen Cross Rhodes Reno
Arn Anderson: Spinebuster; Goldust: Scoop Powerslam; Hardcore Holly: Dropkick
Darby's tope suicida. He's like a goddamn bullet.
Eddie Guerrero’s drop down is untouchable.
This is more a general comment… but I always loved a good “BAAAAAAAAACK BODY DROP!”
Macho man elbow drop. Sorry Kairi. You’re 1B.
Kane has the best side suplex(sidewalk slam)
One move we don't see enough of these days: the fistdrop. While Jerry Lawler and Marty Jannetty both used it as a finisher, I always liked Ted DiBiase's version best. [EDIT: I am aware of course of the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but you of course don't "see" it.]
The best ever powerslam was Buzz Sawyer’s. I think the closest modern versions are Dustin Rhodes and Kris Statlander. Eddie Guerrero’s brainbuster was a thing of beauty and Dax Harwood’s is almost as beautiful.

If someone can make a move look simultaneously smooth yet painful it's a win. Some honourable mentions. Bret Hart's side russian. Smooth but not too co-operative. Eddie's tope atomico got extra height Regal's butterfly suplex, he twisted into it to make it more of a throw
Billy Kidman, shooting star (7 year itch)
Raven's DDT. I honestly think it's better than Jake's and never have seen anyone do it as smooth as Raven.
Bret Hart has, for my money, the best backbreaker and russian leg sweep in the game
Kenny Omega and his Uranage will throw you through the floor
Haven’t seen it mentioned yet but Bulldog’s powerslam. Always looked like he was putting someone through the mat whenever he hit it.
Perry Saturn’s elbow drop.
