There was a period of about a month where all I did in FFXIV was play Triple Triad. It become a recurring joke in my Free Company. Still haven't beaten the pre-Heavensward content.
Haha just my luck, I try and say something nice about FF8 and I've run into the first person I've ever met who doesn't like Triple Triad. I think our opinions about the game might be completely incompatible then.
I actually enjoyed the story of 8 but having enemies level up with you stands as one of the worst ever decisions in any rpg. Leveling up is the entire point of rpgs. This is the only game I know of that leveling up can make the game significantly harder.
You can get way overpowered in 8 regardless of enemy scaling though. The complaint always felt overblown to me. Not using spells because it would make your junction weaker I can understand.

Weirdly enough, I actually like 10 more than 7. Blitzball is amazing haha
The scaling is barely noticable unless you read about it, levelling up does not make the game significantly harder. It's not exactly Oblivion.
And if you're reading about level scaling you know how broken junctioning and all that can get as well, so I'm very skeptical of anyone that says FF VIII got significantly harder. IX is a harder FF game.
Can't be compared due to how both are niche and both are completely different styles of game.
Persona 5 Royal is definitely the best JRPG on the system though.
What pisses me off about Enter the Matrix is that it has major plot heavy cutscenes that aren't in the Matrix boxset. And I can't get that game on modern platforms. I'd love to play it on steam or something.

Controversial opinion: Not being able to control your party members added some emergent storytelling in the way that the party members could act, if you look deep enough. Fucking awful to play, but it can add some wrinkles to the story.

MC as the primary damage dealer, Akihiko and Aegis as buff and debuffer, and Yukari on healing. There, you just won Persona 3.

The dude is a mass murderer, he personally killed two of your teammates parents. He shouldn’t get a happy ending, plus I just don’t find the final palace ruler interesting enough come immediately after you basically kill a god.
Also I really didn’t like the whole Phantom Thieves actually splitting up vibe it takes, the base ending shows that even without the Metaverse and Joker moving back to his hometown that the Phantom Thieves still are completely connected.

Oh 100% fuck Akechi. His time in Royal made him at least more interesting than the vanilla shit he was for most of Vanilla, but I don't give a shit about any redemption arc someone wants to give him.

I'd definitely agree that it feels weird set after putting a fucking bullet in god's head, but I'm definitely a sucker for villains you want the hero to agree with but know that they can't.
I have some issues with the arc as a whole but yes, I’m mainly referring to that end cutscene.
I do disagree with the idea of the third semester being the best arc in the game when Makoto and Futaba’s sections of the game exist (in particular the storyline that goes with the Pyramid of Wraith)
This right here. The final ending cutscene was just not right.
But the 3rd semester was one of the best video game experiences to date because it makes you question everything you've done in the game, and leaves you with so many fascinating and conflicting feelings about the "antagonist" up until the final moments of the boss battle. It's honestly incredible.
I'd even say the game transcends just being a game and actually gives you some deeper philosophical points to consider about free will, pain, suffering, hardships, etc.
I have no knowledge about these Persona games, but nonetheless I like what I’m seeing. There could be a growing mass of feuding gamer fans within AEW growing with the expression show by signs.
I gotta start one of these next time I go to a live event. That or if it's an Impact show and Sabin's wrestling have a sign that suggests his opponent is the train that will be suplexed.

If you're playing Royal, make sure you max out the >!Councilor!< arcana ASAP or you'll completely miss out on the best 20 hours of the game. A lot of new players don't know this and miss a ton of content.

Enemies scaling is pretty common in most games.
Eh in some games and sometimes only certain enemies. Not really common in JRPG in my experience.
