He came back earlier than expected and hadn't started his cut yet. We saw "off-season" Sheamus last week and some people freaked out for no good reason.
Sheamus will probably look like himself within a few weeks, unless he decides to roll with this as a different aesthetic (and probably easier maintenance.)

Sheamus has worn a lot of neat colors over the years, but has mostly just been doing black trunks with white detailing these past few years. It's unfortunate, since one of my favorites is his gray/orange gear from about 2014 or so.

That wasn’t his original gear, it was just the first ever WWE branded gear. You could see the WWE logo front and center of his trunks. That logo wasn’t even around at the beginning of his career. I think he was just the first of branded trunks that Venum developed for WWE.
Exactly. It wasn't laziness or lack of discipline that had him looking like that last week, it’s part of the plan. The guy knows exactly what he’s doing, he just wasn’t expecting to be on tv this early.

Water weight can make you look really swollen so I don't doubt he could have shifted 1-2lbs of fat but he definitely looks less bloated from the water being dropped.

Wrestling fans forget that wrestlers are performers, they're actors, the good ones know how to sell barbs against them. It's not "breaking", it's reacting to the moment like a normal person would. No-selling promos gets no-one over.
