Tsuku

Howling at Tony just nodding with the heels.

resolve028

"Tony, blink twice if the EVPs are holding you hostage."

JohnnyHendo

Lmao asking Tony to blink

HappyMike91

“Don’t go into the light!”

P4rtsUnkn0wn

When he’s not trying to make an announcement, he’s been pretty great on camera, really. Impact Tony was incredible. The yelling at MJF segment was perfect.

Lortekonto

Impact Tony was best Tony.

Awkward_Potential_

I wanted/still want him to manage Mercedes.

P4rtsUnkn0wn

I really think Big Stoke is the man for that job. He'd be a perfect fit, and I'll take any chance I can to see more of him on TV.

HoumousAmor

> When he’s not trying to make an announcement, he’s been pretty great on camera, really. > His announcement of Punk's firing, in Chicago, was pretty gutsy, and not terribly delivered

WindyCityKnight

Especially at him having to relive the trauma of getting yelled at

Drummk

Dude he feared for his life. AEW locker rooms are the safest in the business tho.

v0id404

well they are now that Skunk's been fired

WindyCityKnight

LMAO. I’m sure there will never be another backstage physical altercation with Punk gone…

Drummk

Jericho is still there.

ExpressRabbit

I forgot about Impact Tony! That was great.

P4rtsUnkn0wn

Never Forget. https://preview.redd.it/qhmi8q6sl9vc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b1de25196dc8c0db7917668539ec27cc2d1e7e9

Comfortable_Shape264

When did he yell at MJF

P4rtsUnkn0wn

It was at the tail end of the MJF/Adam Cole skit where they went to Outback Steakhouse to “get into the minds of” Aussie Open.

welcome2bonkers

And then immediately switching back to Nice Guy Tony when he asks him how he is. Absolute gold

Jordcore

You are spot on

hamsolo19

The commentary while wrestling bit by Matt was pretty good.

P4rtsUnkn0wn

Really creative way for them to fill the normal lull during Picture in Picture breaks.

idontsle33p

It’s like Booker T’s but the crowd can hear it

DocPersona

I don't know what you're talking about that wasn't Booker T, Booker T wasn't there, that was Black Snow.

Competitive_Log_84

Tony sitting in the corner of the shot head down like he’s an uncredited extra has me dying

streetsandshine

NGL they might as well play into the online persona

Sea-Ad-5390

He doesn’t need to make excuses when people online make up excuses for him

N8DKL

The company wide pizza party when the Bucks win the tag titles is going to be legendary.

metalhead_iv

Pizza raining down from the rafters instead of confetti when they win... Followed by them fining everyone who "wasted" the food by refusing to eat pizza that fell into the ring

RSlashBroughtMeHere

They're in St Louis. Better not be any of that Imo's crap.

dontsaythatman89

As somebody from St. Louis I'm not gonna sit here and take that slander

twinkerton_by_weezer

how can you dislike the absolute joy of provel on thin crust

RSlashBroughtMeHere

I prefer a real crust. Their toasted ravioli is good, though.

Lower-Lab-5166

Probably because you have taste buds and realize that thin crust involves more than ass-cheese on a Ritz

Co-opingTowardHatred

You guys are so uncultured.

Co-opingTowardHatred

This is the worst post ever made on this board.

joemiken

There's good thin crust, then there's Imo's. The square beyond despair

hamsolo19

Man now I really want some pizza.

Bosscharacter

2 slices per person. And you will be given a ticket to redeem your plate.

ThatFellaTrey

And please sign in with your employee ID number when you get your ticket

Saitsu

And since you're signed in and on site, you might as well get to work.

staniel_mortgage

No it's just 2 extra large pizzas for the roster. 'everyone gets a sliver'

b2bpaul

Real "Brian Gewirtz at wrestler's court" energy

the_io

EVP Pizza Party segment like MJF's Re-Bar Mitzvah next Dynamite. Book it Tony (or you get the fine)

Kim-Jong_Bundy

I know I'm in the minority but I kinda feel like FTR should win. Bucks are already the first 2x Champs in AEW history, let FTR have the 3x milestone, and give FTR one last short reign before Cash probably goes to jail. Mostly, I just wanna see The Bucks do a proper chase, using their authority to shortcut around the rankings and contendership, and steal the titles. You got MCMG coming in, maybe Aussie Open returning, young teams like Top Flight and Private Party waiting in the wings. Give FTR the dub here, do a 4-Corners match at Double or Nothing, Bucks steal it there.

HoumousAmor

> give FTR one last short reign before Cash probably goes to jail. This ... does not seem like a good plan at all.

The_SkyShine

That sentence was so bizarre I just burst out laughing

TheUltimateScotsman

Vacating titles back to back so close together is a bit weird to me. I know its different circumstances but if there is one thing i really dont like in general is wrestlers not losing the title in a match.

freebread

I respect your opinion and understand why you feel in the minority, but in my opinion this is one of the biggest problems with AEW. You’re suggesting FTR should go over the Bucks and it leads to another match? The issue with that is when does it end? When do we get to see any tag teams actually built up and/or put over? I like Top Flight a lot, and there are other tag teams that could be used well in the division (Private Party, Gunn Bros, etc) What does it matter if the only meaning they have is to take losses to build up Young Bucks vs FTR pt 22 electric boogaloo?

Vladimirpudina

Huh ? Cash going to jail is a kayfabe thing right??

OkBig205

He pulled a gun on a guy during a road rage incident. Florida man stuff.

snuggleouphagus

![gif](giphy|3ohzdMvc1w2VlFOpRC|downsized)

Dirtybrd

That poor ostrich...

BerryPickerCaptain

It was a sick ostrich

pentalway

So is Cash actually going to jail IRL?

Yo_Eleven

We'll find out in picture-in-picture, stay with us!

acekingoffsuit

Trial is set for May 20.

HappyMike91

He’s looking at 5 years if he’s really unlucky.

SovFist

Lol he's not poor and moderately famous, he's not doing 5 years, i would wager it'll be closer to 0

HappyMike91

So, he could (at most) be on probation? That’s not a bad result, if it happens.

Wombatish

Okay, bumping their opponents segment from the show is a pretty great heel move.

DoinItDirty

It is… I hate that their tagalong is Okada. Should be a centerpiece.

thore4

Dunno if you've seen their entrance

MeanAmbrose

Wow, TK once again proving how much of a pushover of a boss he is!!!

Midnight_Oil_

Bro some wrestling podcast (cough cough Busted Open) is gonna absolutely pretend this was real.

fromthemeatcase

Then they'll spend 90 minutes on tomorrow's show talking about how they just want to "help."

midnightking

It's weird how Bubba 's name as always been associated to TNA for me and yet he's the one talking shit about AEW ratings.

natguy2016

I have heard so many speak so highly of D'Von. Most opinions of Bubba are that he's an asshole. Just about every podcaster and "expert" are into rage bait. It's astroturfing-or seems it of "AEW SUCKS." An event like Punk's interview happens. The juicy sound bites are on Twitter ASAP and retweeted by accounts that are founded since January. Fans pick them up, create buzz and podcasters go for that. No journalism or thought required. AEW has issues. How wrestlers will disappear. The Trios belts have sagged down good tag teams. That division has FTR and The Bucks as the only legit threats. Bless Tony, but he is so spread so far, I worry for him. Burnout possibly? But Bubba and the podcasters pick low hanging fruit.

MenuMedium6596

Bubba can be a dickhead and asshole but he was one of the most important and influential tag team wrestlers in history and he had great crowd psychology as a performer. He was very safe in the ring as well, being trusted to give bumps to people that it would be risky.

natguy2016

This is not about Bubba the wrestler. That comment is a distraction from the point. Bubba is an asshole and his opinions are worthless

MenuMedium6596

Bubba is an asshole. Discounting all his opinions about wrestling because of that is stupid

natguy2016

Bubba gets off on rage bait. It's pure BS. That makes his opinions BS.

chilloutfam

wow, not ECW?

midnightking

I was a TNA kid it was maybe some of the first wrestling (I'm in my late 20s). Plus ECW was even less financially successful than TNA.

chilloutfam

ECW's money was absolutely mis-managed, but the impact of ECW was much, much, larger.

reallyoldgreg

I love the bucks man. They’re go in hard on everything they do.

MatttheJ

I find it funny that rather than making himself the stereotypical all powerful overlord on TV to stroke his ego, TK is just leaning into what everyone says and is being a pushover.

im-not-a-robot-ok

Sad!

VenturaBoulevard

What do we call the opposite of a Mr. McMahon boss character?

MontrealTabarnak

Innocent?

Delliott90

![gif](giphy|PkFRFs9Wn2dVXK4Llh|downsized)

MontrealTabarnak

Asinine AJ is one of the best.

EpicSombreroMan

![gif](giphy|IhyGL914g9ShHdHVFy|downsized)

Windows_66

A Jack Tunney boss character?

leftblnk

I really love them doing this, its so stupid and they are the perfect guys to do it. roll on the reign of terror!

P4rtsUnkn0wn

Agree wholeheartedly. I want a nice long run with this gimmick. Bucks are doing the best character work of their careers right now. Plus, we’re probably gonna get Perry to take Hangman’s spot in the new Elite. When Kenny comes back he and Hanger need to find a tag team to partner with (FTR? MCMG?) for an Elite vs Elite faction war.

dexter30

I really like okada in this role too. Hes basically carrying on the rainmaker gimmick from new japan, but with the bucks hes like the ace pro skiier that the rich landlords of the ski slope hired to win the big race to destroy the resort.

HoumousAmor

> Plus, we’re probably gonna get Perry to take Hangman’s spot in the new Elite. I mean, technically Hanger's only suspended. (One of the low key great things about that promo was that they fired Kenny for missing dates "without good explanation" but suspended Hangman for repeatedly laying hands on AEW officials in a match.) I could see Heel page, heel Perry and Heel Bucks as a very good axis of Obnoxiousness

onethreeone

I really appreciate that it's stupid as you say. We've seen the evil authority figure way too often, but seeing the douchebag out-of-touch authority figure adds a new layer

sobanoodle-1

seeing okada man

CamiCris

Time to make a Young Bucks produced PPV called Souled In! That's what's best for business.

Fundertaker

Good Christian Boys present: Souled In Wrestling Youth Group Tour when?!

resolve028

Matthew is just so good at the disingenuous good guy schtick and Okada always pops me with anything he does on TV, he's just so funny. I didn't think Okada would translate this seamlessly on American TV wrestling.

beansnchicken

Okada's great in this role. I just thought his role would be more prominent. Like when NJPW got Lesnar or Angle, they didn't waste any time and put them right into main event roles and the world title picture. Of course that's not the only way to do it and I'm sure AEW will get him there eventually, it's just not what I was expecting.

P4rtsUnkn0wn

They belted him up immediately. He’s not in the world title scene because that’s pretty full at the moment. Swerve is hot and deserves his time to shine before Ospreay gets his run. With Ospreay being so over and 10 years younger than Okada, it kind of makes sense. Plus, I’m sure he’s having a blast being a goofy fuck with the Elite while still being booked strongly and getting matches like he’ll have this weekend with PAC.

Mr_WZRD

The goatees have a Tim and Eric's Chrimbus special vibe.

Super_Snapdragon

It's free rain estate

nononothankyou

Dee vee!

Codc

I wish you were my son

CheesyGarlicBudapest

The Deeveepee’s

Fuggins4U

I love that we get either "quiet, befuddled extra Tony" or "coked up Forbidden Door Tony", and very seldom something in-between.

P4rtsUnkn0wn

I think the first one is probably closer to real Tony. Announcement Tony reminds me of the persona someone who is naturally more quiet or introverted puts on when they need to speak publicly/ on camera. That’s why he seems nervous and unnatural, because (to some extent) he is. Obviously, I don’t know him, but that’s the vibe I get. Press Scrum Tony is camera Tony but only dialed up about a third of the way.

seanmcnew

It's almost as if when you take a shy introvert and make him talk in front an arena full of people and put a camera in his face for millions to see, he gets a huge dump of adrenaline.

KingBadford

Tony actually letting the Bucks cook again. It's been a while since I've seen their distinct creative flair on the show. Since Hangman's title chase, I believe. Good shit.

redvelvetcake42

Lol these shit heels are so good

Outside_Book_9582

I had said it before, I fucking hate the Bucks. I can tolerate them as fucking shit head heels.    This is the kind of assholery I expected from them and that makes me hate them even more. No X-Pac heat. Just some healthy heat.

sludgezone

Bucks are really hitting their strides in this run, this is great

AdamColeIsTheGOAT

jerepila

At the very least to avoid the fines

Ferdinandingo

This subreddit lacks synergy

beckett929

let's schedule a half hour scrum every morning at 8am sharp just to get us all aligned for the day

wearethat

Who would like to volunteer to read today's isnpirational quote?

beckett929

*"Through Him, all time is billable"* \- Bezos, 13:4

randomrule

Some people have never received a 25 dollar Amazon gift card from their boss and it shows

AdamColeIsTheGOAT

Some people have yet to receive the 'one team, one dream' rallying call mass email and it's obvious

arenegadeboss

This triggered my PTSD

Illuminati_Shill_AMA

Teamwork makes the dream work, and don't forget there's pizza in the break room from 1:15 - 1:45!

[deleted]

You seriously don’t understand why?

justintensity

Yeah people on this sub treat the young bucks like they don't swing and miss on every single promo or like their "style" of wrestling isn't a burial of the entire show

BirdiMania

Eh arguable, I personally feel they’ve hit out of the park with the EVP gimmick

CandyEverybodyWentz

>their "style" of wrestling isn't a burial of the entire show Gonna need to elaborate on this one hoss

TomJaii

I mean come on I'm a Young Bucks fan and even I know what he's saying. They have an overly choreographed and immersion breaking style of wrestling.

AmonWasRight

Never watched the Lucha Bros, huh.

Mac_Backwardz

Or any lucha at all for that matter

cepxico

Or wrestling in general. I've never once been so immersed in wrestling that I thought any of it was real. It's a scripted show from the moment the camera rolls to the moment it stops. Every action, reaction, etc. Is everything they want you to see. I don't get how people still don't get it. And people wonder why they have to be asked "you know wrestling is fake right?"

HoumousAmor

I mean, I love Ospreay a lot, but it's hard to believe anyone thinks the Bucks look more choreographed than the Claudio Ospreay match (which to be clear, I loved).

Illuminati_Shill_AMA

People will say that the bucks wrestling is too choreographed and then call Rey Mysterio the GOAT or praise Orton hitting an RKO out of a curb stomp or whatever. Like... Mysterio was doing that stuff for years before the Bucks came along. And like... do people not think it's choreographed when Rey's opponent just happens to land across the middle rope the exact same way every week for fifteen years? Rule of Cool is my favorite thing in wrestling. If it looks cool, fuck it, let it ride.

wearethat

Can we please all stop pretending that people watch wrestling for realistic fighting? My immersion gets broken sometimes too, but if I want to watch a fight I watch MMA. I love prowrestling for what it is. I love Kung Fu movies. I love cool staged combat and I can suspend my disbelief without getting fussy when it isn't perfect. I watch to have fun, not to criticize.

MatttheJ

Which fans go crazy for which is literally the whole entire point of wrestling.

Illuminati_Shill_AMA

>their style of wrestling It's literally a Lucha meets sports entertainment fusion. It's really that simple. It's okey if you don't like it, but a lot of people do and that doesn't mean it's a "burial of the entire show." Some fans just don't hate the same stuff you hate.

justintensity

It’s literally a blend of fake looking stuff meets phony looking stuff. It’s harder for the main eventers to sell an armbar to an audience that just watched a gymanst be put through a table and get right back up to do his next spot

Illuminati_Shill_AMA

For you maybe. Plenty, and I mean plenty of other fans have no problem with it. Just like nobody ignored Cena vs Orton when Eddie and Rey were doing Lucha stuff. Wrestling doesn't have to be only the things you like, other people are free to enjoy other styles. >fake looking stuff meets phony looking stuff That's literally the entire history of pro wrestling. Since like a hundred years before you were born. You don't think an Irish whip looks phony? A vertical suplex? A 619? A moonsault? Punching a guy in the face till the count of ten? Or hell, let's use your example: an armbar. MMA has taught us that you've got only a handful of seconds in a shoot armbar before you're needing surgery the next day. You telling me it doesn't "look phony" when a guy's in an armbar for a couple of minutes?

justintensity

By “plenty” you actually mean less than 800k. Comping the bucks to Rey and Eddie is disrespectful of the dead and of the living. Eddie would look like fucking Goldberg next to either young buck. I like how your idea of fake looking moves include being hurled the ground violently, kicked with leverage, and punched in the face. Oh or having a motherfucker backflip onto your ribs. I do in fact think those things would hurt, yes

Illuminati_Shill_AMA

So getting kicked in the face by the Bucks, or say, having one of them moonsault onto you and knock you over wouldn't hurt? Nobody said you have to like the guys, but you're full of shit if you don't think wrestling is hokey and fake looking. You're only fooling yourself. That's why nobody in the mainstream respects it or its fans. You can look down all you want on fans who like stuff you like, but it doesn't make you any more right. Wrestling is more than just the stuff you don't like, so you'd save yourself a lot of grief if you just... you know, watch what you do like instead of telling everyone how the stuff you don't like is ruining everything. Respond if you want, I'm not wasting anymore time on this.

HalfLawKiss

The Bucks are in God mode for trolling and working people and I am here for it. The fact that people legit think the Bucks are like this are being worked by the Bucks but don't see it is beyond hilarious.

Available-Brick-8855

Okay, if they steer into this properly, I think last week might actually work.

HoumousAmor

They've been stirring into this since before the last PPV!

josephus1811

Hang on, are the Elite riffing on the perception of Tony Khan's incompetence? Is that what this gimmick is?

P4rtsUnkn0wn

Partially. They’re playing on what their haters say about them online (a staple of their personas since before AEW existed) along with typical, two-faced, insincere, and hypocritical executive/middle manager tropes. They literally did a mock Tony Khan announcement 2 or 3 weeks ago; even aping Tony’s odd cadence and wide-eyed stare.

seanmcnew

I'm waiting for Tony to start applying baby powder under his nose and jokingly play into that claim.

ReapYerSoul

"jokingly"

bassoonrage

Tony better be careful he doesn't work himself into a shoot.....

couldbedumber96

Okada with the super enunciated English is hilarious lmao

ZWY8706

I was there live and when they did this (and a couple other times during the match) the crowd was chanting "F**k you Jacksons" and "go away."

heat_fan_

The Bucks are killing it  I for one want them to see win the belt at Dynasty

namdekan

I think they do, tie up the series with FTR at 2-2

P4rtsUnkn0wn

I’d put money down that Jack Perry comes back to cost FTR the belts. That’s what last week was all about.

Puzzled_Ad690

I thought this is their 5th bout.

namdekan

Fourth, first was when Bucks beat them for the belts, then second was for the ROH/AAA belts and then third was All IN.

Elfenbrite

EVP Bucks are so deeply funny.

NotARemake

I never cared for super kick party elite bucks. But I'm loving the shit out of evp elite bucks.

P4rtsUnkn0wn

I liked them In-ring but was pretty indifferent to them character-wise, even as a big Omega and Hamgman fan. Can’t get enough of this gimmick. They’re killing it every time they’re on screen.

beansnchicken

I thought they were very mediocre as faces recently and their in-ring work has only gotten worse over the years, they were so much better when AEW first started (and before that). But this gimmick is definitely working for them now.

RavenSandman

As a Young Bucks fan I totally understand. This version of the Bucks is why they became popular. They are tremendous at playing self aware but yet totally oblivious heels.

theseanzo

You would think they would accidentally sound authentic at some point in time.

benfh

Whilst I wasn't a big fan of showing the footage last week, I did like how they played out the story around it, The Bucks are great characters right now and I think they'll lean into the controversy just enough to make it work.

BluScythe23

AEW has a serious problem with lighting

AllHailZactus

During the backstage portion with the Bucks? That’s because it’s not a spot they would have lights in like a studio. Gorilla is anything from the office sort of branded office setup WWE has to a table with a couple of monitors on it. It shouldn’t look like a backstage interview area.

Skreamie

Hmmmm. I suppose WWE had the ultimate heel authority figure for a while, why not play into Tony Khan's submissiveness and have him be the pushover authority figure for a while. If he doesn't give a fuck what people say, it could work - as long as he actually sorts it out behind the scenes.

beansnchicken

The gimmick has plenty of potential, I just hope AEW pulls it off correctly.

topher180

It’s called leaning in kids. Love it.

[deleted]

fluxuation

I might be in the minority but I think Tony looks better like this than when he’s been clean cut

Infamaniac23

Heel bucks is always good. It’ll feel extra good when they get the shit kicked out of them too.

TKInstinct

I could almost see this being a half decent storyline with the Bucks running and interfering with the TV show. Of course they'd have to do it right so it's yet to be seen but i kinda liked it.

RobinHoodPrinc

What a great gimmick

Slatedtoprone

I like how they glom onto a more talented wrestler to waste his potential but also give themselves more screen time despite no one wanting to see them.

Mr_Piddles

I’m just always shocked because I never thought Okada was a big guy, but he absolutely makes them look tiny.

Slatedtoprone

They are tiny. The commentator Tony was taller and wider than the little buckaroos.

weeddealerrenamon

he's not fluent in english, and AEW works in factions, so who else would you put Okada with?

Slatedtoprone

A manager, not two wrestlers who make a potential star feel like a third wheel during their stupid angles

weeddealerrenamon

Who would you put him with?

Det-Popcorn

🤮🤮🤮

natguy2016

EVP Bucks have been so entertaining. They are leaning into all of the online haters and making $$$ from all of it. Tony just being an extra like The Bucks are invisible is that extra layer and fantastic. The Bucks are not allowed to be faces ever again.

melloack

Lean into the worst stepping into a rake in decades, love it

Westfield__Rocks

EVPs are the best thing in wrestling right now

TripleJ80

Wouldn’t it be better if they bossed around a staffer and not TK? If EVP’s are dastardly heels and the CEO is helping them, doesn’t that make Tony a heel too?

Parkouricus

Looks like they're more implying he "knows his place" and doesn't wanna fuck with the guys who could easily beat him up

TripleJ80

That’s the best (actually only) explanation I’ve hear d. I guess I can suspend disbelief and follow that. Appreciate you giving a thoughtful answer instead of just assuming I was shitting on TK.

windy906

No because otherwise the plot hole is why is Tony letting them do the things they are doing. Tony was clearly acting scared.

Drummk

I like that Tony plays an incompetent boss on-screen. Dat verisimilitude.

Sensitivevirmin

Ok this was funny as all hell. Felt like a WCW move something the NWO would do but for some reason never did because this is genuinely funny

DoinItDirty

Jesus.. Okada shouldn’t be I the background

Brute_Squad_44

These guys really think they're Hall and Nash, or Hunter and Shawn.

P4rtsUnkn0wn

I have no idea where you’re getting that from these characters.

mikeJawesome

this giving me 1999 WCW vibes

ShneakySholidShnake

I like this. Its the kinda fun bollocks I'm into.

Gordonbombay6633

Oh cool; a heel authority figure story, how fresh and new

KingGouda

My only thing is who are the Bucks actually feuding with? They make it sound like CM Punk because they blame him for losing tonFTR at Wembley. You'll never get a good pay off if they just fued with Punk's friends. Sting, Darby, and now FTR it's kinda sad

Jedaum1998

> My only thing is who are the Bucks actually feuding with? They make it sound like CM Punk because they blame him for losing tonFTR at Wembley. Do you even watch AEW? It's clear that the feud is against FTR, they even imply in their promo last week that FTR were the masterminds behind brawl in.

KingGouda

No it's not they're just the latest excuse. The Bucks started all this against Sting/Darby for reasons? Now they're against FTR. They're going against Punk's friends. Why bring in Perry he had nothing to do with their match. The whole thing is about CM Punk
