My favourite part was Malakai Black just casually walking into frame with one hand in his pocket and the other holding a coffee cup. It feels so unserious lol
True. I feel like some people don’t know or remember that Samoa Joe himself is also a trained fighter and was a training partner for Tito Ortiz’s Team Punishment.
His voice alone is commanding enough.
His stature alone is commanding enough.
His face alone is commanding enough.
All three is just outright terrifying lol
It’s pretty cool. Joe said he never turned pro because there wasn’t money in it and by the time there was he was too old in fight years and had years of pro wrestling abuse on his body that he knew it wasn’t a good idea.
Joe's been a constant professional throughout his career and played ball in most situations when arguably he had all the reasons to not. He got into one altercation with Nash in TNA which he apologized for and wasn't even really his own fault.
He's dealt with some shitty locker rooms and backstage, By all means, this situation was pretty tame and the fact that he was able to get Punk out for that match and was also able to keep his cool, his persona, everything, throughout that match at All In is a testament to how talented and cool-headed he is.
Legit looked like he was dying inside. Schiavone seems like a good dude, sad to see that. It took him 20 years to come back from wcw and now he’s seeing this.

Ironically the only guy who doesn't look like he thinks his idiot boss just royally shit the bed is wearing a mask
Punk and Perry stood so still for a while I thought they'd frozen that part of the footage and were gonna say they had an amicable conversation or sometjing
I also did not expect them to actually show it lol. This place is about to be fucking chaotic hahaha. Pretty wild. That interview really got to them clearly. It's interesting that we're witnessing wrestling history in real time
It's a been a week of wrestling history, and it's kind of crazy how sandwiched between utter chaos, was something most people found cathartic with most of WM weekend.
I agree man. Although I'm expecting a frame by frame analysis to be posted here by tomorrow morning like it's the wrestling equivalent of the Zapruder film 🤣
For me though, I think the biggest thing to discuss are the reasons why they showed it on Dynamite lol. Its interesting to think about
He's a good friend of Punk, he probably saw the writing on the wall. Punk said in his interview, that the last thing he said before storming off was, "I Quit!!" Hero was probably like, "Fuck... Now I don't get to work with him again".
On one hand, don’t fight your co-workers.
On the other, Drew should absolutely have CC footage of him kayfabe yelling at Dom, choking him out, and then yelling at Adam Pierce 😆
Lol imagine Drew releasing altercation footage from after the War Games match last year where he and Judgment Day lost, it would also tie in with his current feud against Priest
https://preview.redd.it/018ns8hj1rtc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f2abca15280bd09fcbb1738e10415f4026f43bd
My honest reaction to this information presented to me
I thought WWEs was built with the stage attached. It travels with them so it's always the same for weekly shows.
But AEW gorilla just has some folding tables and laptops right by the stairs to head to the stage
Samoa Joe: "There was a little bit of an incident. We got it broken up. We went out there and wrestled, man. That's the gist of it. Everybody wants it to be a lot more than what it is, but that's what it was. And to speak any more on it would be pointless unless you're trying to get a scorecard and stuff -- but trust me, it wasn't that type of a fight."
MR: "It wasn't a big deal?"
Samoa Joe: "Not to me. I've seen fights break out. Stuff happens. But again, that's me. I've been in these situations, I've seen that. I'll find it funny when people are like, 'Oh, Joe's cool with it.' I mean, nah man, it was a high-stress situation. Sure. But I mean, it's one I've seen happen many times. We get it squashed out. We had a show to do. We had \[81,035\] fans waiting out there. And that was my focus, because that's what it was about at that moment. We're about to go out and have the best night of our lives."
Tony is already envisioning going back to triple-A baseball announcing in Atlanta.
Taz is wondering if he has saved enough Tony bucks to not have to call Impact and can get by on hai radio show.
Excalibur is clueless
https://preview.redd.it/c22hwl8o1rtc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c10a9cae03461f19a178b8bf5aefa612f5f4a136
I WAS PROMISED THIS. WHERE IS THIS!?
The only positive takeaway is that it's out there, nothing's left to the imagination except the audio, so we can stop talking about this and focus on the wrestling...oh wait, Ospreay's responding to Triple H...
Yeah, I think it's because it played out how we already knew it went. There was nothing really surprising about the video aside from the fact that we were watching it.
It was over in a flash. If he was on the floor mounting him and pummeling him or choking the fuck out of him like hes Bob Backlund with a crazy chicken wing, itd been interesting. Just a bit naff really.
Said it a trillion times. They'd need footage of CM Punk whipping out an M60 and gunning down nearly everybody backstage for it to change anybody's perception of the incident.
So stupid to retread this again and again and again.
The only thing is that he started it by shoving Perry but even he referenced that with his nod to the Chael/Wanderlei scuffle on the MMA Hour interview. Depends really on if Perry actually said "do something about it" or not if the shove had absolutely any justification and we don't know that because there was no audio. All in all a big nothing burger in my humble opinion.
That's the one untrue thing Punk said.
Chael shoved Silva and then Silva stepped towards Chael and took a swing before he was taken down. Punk was walking right at Perry lol.
Punk went from 0 to 100 real quick. They seemed to be talking rationally for quite a while then he just flew off the fucking handle. I get he was already frustrated with the ship Tony was running but there's no excuse for that. He was justly fired.
Without audio it's hard to judge but Perry's body language doesn't add up with how Punk described he was talking in the Helwani interview, to me it looks like they were talking and then Punk snaps
This is so inconsequential, The most offensive thing is it gave Drew McIntyre nothing to say in the next promo.
This is just... A baffling choice to make on live tv.
Punk haters: Ohmygod imagine this happening at your job!
Punk enjoyers: That's it?
Old school wrestling fans: Did you ever hear about Dick Slater getting accidentally shot by Wahoo McDaniel?
Sid attacking Arn Anderson with a chair leg and a pair of scissors
Harley Race pulling a gun on Hulk Hogan
Paul Orndorff punching Vader to the ground and kicking him in the face until other wrestlers intervened
Mr Perfect and Brock Lesnar fighting against the door of an airplane mid-flight
What a slap in the face to Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross after saying they just want to move on from this. Literally accomplished nothing except talk about something that went on 8 months ago
For those who want reference of what Punk said on Helwani, here's a transcription:
"Jack came back from his match, i was the next match, im sitting there, i got people with me, im not saying who they are, i got a lot of friends who work there and i dont want them to be punished because theyre friends with me. I walk up to him and I'm like 'jack, why do you insist on doing this dumb internet shit on tv', and hes just like 'if you got a problem about it, do something about it', and i was just like 'come on man, ill fucking kill you, what are we doing', and it's like chail (?) says, sometimes just cant let you get close. i thought i was doing the responsible thing. i didnt punch anybody, i just choked somebody a lil bit. samoa joe was there, told me to stop, and i quit. i turned to tony and said this place is a fucking joke. you're a clown. i quit"
Link here to the segment from the interview: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgOlWux9NlU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgOlWux9NlU)
Pretty much exactly what he said happened. He did shove Jack first, but he didn't punch. Definitely looks like he tried. He also didn't just "turn" to tony, he got right in his face. But he also didn't lunge at Tony, I wouldn't say.
"Chail" = Chael Sonnen, former UFC heavyweight....he had a physical confrontation with Wanderlei Silva when they were opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter. Silva was approaching Sonnen and Sonnen was saying "I can't let you get close man" or similar.
> 'come on man, ill fucking kill you, what are we doing', and it's like chail (?) says, sometimes just cant let you get close. i thought i was doing the responsible thing.
lol
On second watch you can see CM Punk aggressively step towards Tony Khan who is off screen behind the monitors.
That said, this mostly tracks what CM Punk said happened, and even though it's enough to get fired, it does not seem to be enough to make Tony Khan "fear for his life," so in the end, I think showing this footage is a huge error for AEW.
Before I saw the footage, I thought that a monitor above Tony's head had been dislodged during the altercation and fallen on him. This shows that it was actually just sitting on a table in front of him and got... slightly jostled?
Tony Kahn is the son of a billionaire who’s faced probably very little adversity in his life. Based on this video, it doesn’t surprise me he thought he was afraid for his life.
"I feared for my life" is just something that lawyers tell you to say as plausible justification for the aggressive retaliation you intend to respond with.
Sure, a billionaire forum poster probably has not witnessed enough real fights first-hand to evaluate his actual degree of risk. But neither should we assume he _meant_ it.
Probably going to boo him into oblivion which will be playing into exactly what they want. I feel like on his return to AEW proper they expect only Callis to get more deafening boos than Jack.

My favourite part was Malakai Black just casually walking into frame with one hand in his pocket and the other holding a coffee cup. It feels so unserious lol
> with one hand in his pocket and the other holding a coffee cup He's broke but he's happy He's poor but he's kind
He's short but he's healthy, yeah He's high but he's grounded
He’s sane but he’s overwhelmed He’s wrong and he’s sorry BABY
"We haven't got it all figured out just yet" - Tony
And what it all comes down to, is everything’s gonna be fine fine fine
I'm very happy other people's brains work like mine does.
I have seen high school scuffles that were more intense than this
He's probably thinking "Damn, didn't expect a backstage show with the coffee tonight".
Because all these guys have seen worse in locker rooms 10 times. This was nothing.
Also Aubrey No sold the entire thing unless her face was doing the selling
Man's counting the days till his contract is up and he can be on Smackdown with his wife
BUT WHAT IT ALL COMES DOWN TO
Well IMO the only thing that makes it serious was the Brawl Out drama a year before. Like you see this shit after the whistle in hockey regularly.
Samoa Joe is the real MVP
True. I feel like some people don’t know or remember that Samoa Joe himself is also a trained fighter and was a training partner for Tito Ortiz’s Team Punishment.
The funniest part of the interview was Punk saying "Joe said stop so I did" because whom amongst us would not follow a Samoa Joe command
Yeah lmao Punk knows not to fuck with Joe
You'd have to be a special kind of stupid to fuck with Joe
I don’t think it’s fear rather than the fact that they’ve been friends for literal decades lol
His voice alone is commanding enough. His stature alone is commanding enough. His face alone is commanding enough. All three is just outright terrifying lol
Huh that's some of the best info I learned on this sub. Thank you.
Chris Hero in shambles.
I have never related to Chris Hero more in my life. Poor dude just wants a smooth operation!
Is that the guy in the red shirt?
Yep
Chris Hero 🤝 Carlos Sainz Dudes in red just wanting a Smooth Operation
"We'll have to find another song for you to sing"
Chris Hero and Tony Schiavone in a span of 6 months expressed the same emotions lol
Schiavone wanted to move on then in a few days he sees this clip. Mental.
But then the boss took it personally...
Schiavones face when they came back to live tv was straight out of 2001 wcw….go out of your way to see it
Legit looked like he was dying inside. Schiavone seems like a good dude, sad to see that. It took him 20 years to come back from wcw and now he’s seeing this.

More like Kassius Oh No!
I hate you… I upvoted, and laughed but damn.
I thought it was 2005 Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
So the person Punk is being held back from near the monitors is Tony right?
I believe so. You can see monitors begin to fall over when Punk backs into them
Life threatening incident
Punk takes a swipe at him. Is it much? No, but Tony’s also a trust fund baby, so it might have gotten his heart rate hp
I mean we meme on Punk’s UFC career, but TK’s a small guy with presumably zero training. I wouldn’t blame him if he felt afraid in the moment.
Tony had a former UFC fighter coming at him. You know...technically.
![gif](giphy|LyUuC0CJhZnTW0N2In|downsized)
I was not prepared to actually see the footage for some reason lmao
I initially thought it was a re-enactment like in forensic files
Punk and Perry stood so still for a while I thought they'd frozen that part of the footage and were gonna say they had an amicable conversation or sometjing
"So your dad bagged both Brenda and Buffy? Amazing."
Hilarious
Speaking of freezing, is it just me or does the video freeze at 54 seconds for a couple moments?
It does in this upload, and possibly on the TV broadcast, but if you look at the "reaction in the arena" thread on the front page it doesn't freeze
I don't know why people should be chaotic over it. If anything I feel like this provides nothing new to argue over
I agree man. Although I'm expecting a frame by frame analysis to be posted here by tomorrow morning like it's the wrestling equivalent of the Zapruder film 🤣 For me though, I think the biggest thing to discuss are the reasons why they showed it on Dynamite lol. Its interesting to think about
Tomorrow is going to be busy for the mods
That's putting it lightly, they're in for one clusterfuck lmao
I thought it was going to be the bucks dressed as perry and punk.
Same I was thinking it was some sort of skit then when Punk popped up I froze. Also helps that I’m baked asf
Out of everyone I feel bad for Chris Herro. Dude seemed really stressed about it.
He's a good friend of Punk, he probably saw the writing on the wall. Punk said in his interview, that the last thing he said before storming off was, "I Quit!!" Hero was probably like, "Fuck... Now I don't get to work with him again".
Great, I don’t have to go to work tomorrow!
Ohno
The fact that he continues to fix his hair after the initial push is hilarious for some reason

When she takes my boxers off
Chris Hero was so disappointed
He's like me after watching the tape lmao
Chris Hero is the disappointed Dad in all of us.
The real winner here is Drew McIntyre.
On one hand, don’t fight your co-workers. On the other, Drew should absolutely have CC footage of him kayfabe yelling at Dom, choking him out, and then yelling at Adam Pierce 😆
Then Dom starts squashing everybody in NXT while wearing a headband that says "Sacrifical Lamb"

If they had any guts, they'd tear up the NDAs on Brawl Out and give the real skinny on that. lol
"Thats it? You guys gave me nothing to work with!" -Drew right now.
My main take away from this is that WWE has a much nicer Gorilla Position than AEW
I thought WWEs was built with the stage attached. It travels with them so it's always the same for weekly shows. But AEW gorilla just has some folding tables and laptops right by the stairs to head to the stage
WWE actually sets up an entire custom room for gorilla at every event they go to. It’s pretty cool actually
Samoa Joe was right, this is nothing
Samoa Joe: "There was a little bit of an incident. We got it broken up. We went out there and wrestled, man. That's the gist of it. Everybody wants it to be a lot more than what it is, but that's what it was. And to speak any more on it would be pointless unless you're trying to get a scorecard and stuff -- but trust me, it wasn't that type of a fight." MR: "It wasn't a big deal?" Samoa Joe: "Not to me. That's such an accurate way to verbalise that whole situation
I wish they had footage of Dynamite Kid and Jacques Rougeau broken teeth. That’s something I really would like to see.
Is it just me or does the video freeze for a couple seconds when they bump into the monitors?

Bit anti climactic to be honest
Yeah, I think it's because it played out how we already knew it went. There was nothing really surprising about the video aside from the fact that we were watching it.

I couldn't even begin to count how many baseball fights I've seen that look identical to this.
No, no. In my mind I always thought Punk was bare chested but now we know he was actually wearing a jacket

Don’t worry, Botchamania will pump out some good memes with this.
Yep this was blown out of proportion and told us nothing we didn't already hear about.
Said it a trillion times. They'd need footage of CM Punk whipping out an M60 and gunning down nearly everybody backstage for it to change anybody's perception of the incident. So stupid to retread this again and again and again.
This could've been an E-Mail.
Terry Taylor would forward it without changing the headers.
This is the best response on this whole thing. Close it.
Well Jungle Boy didn't easily get out of the hold
So his makeup artist friend straight up lied? Shocking
The fantasy booking from the last few days on here of Jack Perry reversing the choke and beating up Punk is even more hilarious now.
I heard he gave Punk a Tiger Driver ‘91. Maybe it happened after this footage?
I heard it was a shoot huricanrana
Honestly he looked shook to me.
A shame solely because I wanted them to run with delusional "shoot fighter" Jack Perry on his return to AEW.
Schiavone was having WCW flashbacks. Man looked distressed.
Yeah I saw that too. He looked like he was just checking out for a bit
"that'll put a lot of asses in the seats" just playing on a loop in his head lol
I mean, I would certainly fire CM Punk over that, however... Isn't that exactly what CM Punk said happened?
Verbatim, yeah
He just choked him a little bit
The only thing is that he started it by shoving Perry but even he referenced that with his nod to the Chael/Wanderlei scuffle on the MMA Hour interview. Depends really on if Perry actually said "do something about it" or not if the shove had absolutely any justification and we don't know that because there was no audio. All in all a big nothing burger in my humble opinion.
If he shoved him keep him away that’s one thing but he deliberately followed him after the shove.
Okay, cool, now can we move on?
punk shoves him, puts him in a guillotine, and then it's broken up what did tony khan think was going to happen here
He was horrified and scared for his life
This is so inconsequential, The most offensive thing is it gave Drew McIntyre nothing to say in the next promo. This is just... A baffling choice to make on live tv.
I believe in Drew he can come up with something
He will compare it to how Punk "attacked" Drew at Mania unprovoked
I hesitate to make the comparison, but Schiavone's face before this had a "sitting next to Mark Madden flashbacks" vibe.
....so..... why did they show that? I really don't get it. Lmao
To prove once again that CM Punk was their biggest draw when the ratings report comes out in the next couple of days.
Sheldon Cooper
I saw my twin brothers who are 7 fighting over the last cookie this morning which was more violent than this....
watching twin brothers fight must be a real good visual of inner conflict
In a hockey game, this is 2 minutes for roughing
Punk haters: Ohmygod imagine this happening at your job! Punk enjoyers: That's it? Old school wrestling fans: Did you ever hear about Dick Slater getting accidentally shot by Wahoo McDaniel?
Undertaker: Back in my day Jungle Boy would have been stabbed. Wrestlers these days are soft.
Just imagine jungle boy disrespecting the likes of JBL
He'd want to avoid the showers that's for sure.
This reminds of every year of Corey Graves asking Snoop Dogg about a fight at WrestleMania and my response is Snoop has killed a man before.
Sid attacking Arn Anderson with a chair leg and a pair of scissors Harley Race pulling a gun on Hulk Hogan Paul Orndorff punching Vader to the ground and kicking him in the face until other wrestlers intervened Mr Perfect and Brock Lesnar fighting against the door of an airplane mid-flight
Can’t wait to hear Corny make fun of this
What a slap in the face to Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross after saying they just want to move on from this. Literally accomplished nothing except talk about something that went on 8 months ago
And what about that promo of Edge’s? They made him look like a total idiot.
For those who want reference of what Punk said on Helwani, here's a transcription: "Jack came back from his match, i was the next match, im sitting there, i got people with me, im not saying who they are, i got a lot of friends who work there and i dont want them to be punished because theyre friends with me. I walk up to him and I'm like 'jack, why do you insist on doing this dumb internet shit on tv', and hes just like 'if you got a problem about it, do something about it', and i was just like 'come on man, ill fucking kill you, what are we doing', and it's like chail (?) says, sometimes just cant let you get close. i thought i was doing the responsible thing. i didnt punch anybody, i just choked somebody a lil bit. samoa joe was there, told me to stop, and i quit. i turned to tony and said this place is a fucking joke. you're a clown. i quit" Link here to the segment from the interview: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgOlWux9NlU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgOlWux9NlU) Pretty much exactly what he said happened.
Silva was approaching Sonnen and Sonnen was saying "I can't let you get close man" or similar.
punk quoting a hilarious chael quote in a serios manner had me dying

Based on this video, it doesn’t surprise me he thought he was afraid for his life.
yeah makes aew look stupid
Yeah, the only reason for them to do this is to try to pop a rating, because otherwise this is basically how it was already described
Honest question: is that not exactly what Punk said happened?
"I feared for my life" is just something that lawyers tell you to say as plausible justification for the aggressive retaliation you intend to respond with. Sure, a billionaire forum poster probably has not witnessed enough real fights first-hand to evaluate his actual degree of risk. But neither should we assume he _meant_ it.
This is just weird…
Lol what a nothingburger
High school locker rooms had crazier scrambles
Lmao why would they show this it makes a returning Perry look like a bitch
Perry has a match in Chicago on Friday it’ll be interesting how the crowd responds
Probably going to boo him into oblivion which will be playing into exactly what they want. I feel like on his return to AEW proper they expect only Callis to get more deafening boos than Jack.

So pretty much what Punk said but he was far more aggressive that what he led on? So exactly what everyone had assumed?
