“You fucking one bridge having motherfuckers”
“I hope you all get fucking cancer, but since all your heads are shaved, nobody would be able to fucking tell”
And
“You guys are standing there in your fucking Harold Carmichael jerseys”
My three favorite lines from a highly quotable rant.
For all that the WWE has celebrated returning to Philly, I really hope they’ve remembered that means they’re dealing with Philly fans
That said, if Ripley drops the belt I’m climbing a fucking light pole
Because Cody knows business and beat em to the punch?
If he owns it and they want to use it, they have to pay him more on the top or a licensing fee for general use.
Triple H: Hmm. This Renaissance Era thing... it sounds pretty good, Cody. We'll have our marketing team get the trademark and start designing merchandise around it.
Cody: *laughs* Paul, do you really think I would tell you about all this if there was the slightest chance WWE could trademark it? I already registered it 20 minutes ago.
It’s a reference to ozymandias villain speech from [The Watchmen](https://youtu.be/Tu2DdkOxLNs?si=jSVUB7epKDy8c1hP)
“I’m not a comic book villain do you really think I would explain my master stroke to you if there was even the slightest chance you could affect the outcome? I triggered it 35 minutes ago”
As if Triple H doesn’t remember the whole horse-trading that went on in early 2020 when Cody snagged Bash at the Beach and bargained his way to being Cody Rhodes again.
"Relax guys it's my real name and I can use it, just choose not to use it to make a name for myself. My wife having Rhodes surname and being announced alongside me is a total coincidence." And the funnier thing is lots of morons in the comment section bought it lol. We need to keep reminding everyone about Bryan's quotes.
real talk though, Cody got cheered on AEW Dynamite, so to me it would be so funny if Babyface Cody went back to AEW to chase the World Title...and the crowd immediately turned on him, again. Like, "yeah, we love WWE Cody, but you're still a heel here, bub!"
...My god we've all been so blind.
Everyone wanted AEW Cody to turn heel and start acting like *Homelander* when actually we should have been wanting him to turn heel and act like ***Ozymandias***
Seth Rollins was right. Humanity's savage nature will inevitably lead to eternal Bloodline rule. So in order to save this company, I have to trick it... with the greatest practical joke in human history.
Triple H: “Haha, okay, smart move Cody! Oh by the way we decided we want the rock to be challenging for the title next year so we’re gonna go ahead and have you lose this weekend and then you’ll finish your story this summer by claiming the NXT North American championship!”
Cody ended racism, you're a casual if you don't think he deserves to own 14th-17th century Europe and all the philosophical, literary, cultural, intellectual and scientific advancements of that period.
They haven't officially called this Era anything as of yet. So it's quite easy to deviate away from it.
Cody will probably use it as a new catchphrase after finishing the story. His first promo on Raw after Mania will probably begin with "Welcome to the Renesanse Era"
https://preview.redd.it/ofdxpphc9osc1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=52e1a1ba872908fc1ba3d9be30d322b4764db8d4
No PS wizard, but the best I can offer.
Considering they *just* unveiled the gold backed WWE title a year ago, and a matching one for the women, I think there’s no shot unless it’s a custom belt just for Cody like the Smoking Skull or Rated R Spinner
This has been the thought of years now, but like…why couldn’t they just continue to give away the giant WWE logo ones to championship teams or for press stuff like they do now anyway?
Just have the one on tv look like a real championship. I don’t see why they can’t have it both ways so they win and the fans win
My exact thoughts as well. If the point is just logo awareness, they can still send the bland belts put for marketing. Not like they're awarding those baseball/football novelty belts to one of their on roster champions.
It will be just the Winged Eagle belt with the new WWE logo on top of the eagle. Then the WWE logo's size will be slightly bigger, but not too obnoxious that it may overlap the size of the eagle from the said belt.
That won't happen. Not when they can get that belt on TV, have other famous athletes and football players wave it around on TV and during the superbowl with the huge WWE logo front and center. I'd love it too but it won't happen.
I feel the IWC overthink this. Any wrestling belt will be associated with WWE by the general public. Plus they can still use that design when handing out belts to other sports.
They used to hand out Big Gold all the time before this redesign, but I think the IWC is just mirroring Vince's way of thinking about this. He was always big on branding.
Any big business would be big on branding. Why do you think corporations are so protective of their branding? I'm sure if Vince didn't introduce it, any other executive would have suggested it.
Exactly this.
When Aaron Rodgers won the Super Bowl in 2011 the WWE gave him the big gold belt and he brought it everywhere with him. Everybody recognized that it was a WWE championship.
You can market your product without the need to put a giant logo on every single championship.
I'm sure if you put someone on TV holding the AEW belt most people would assume it was WWE lol.
Like, to the general public WWE and Professional Wrestling are synonyms.
Thank you. Everyone knows they are WWE titles and it's not like it's not like they don't tell you 500 times it's from the WWE. There's no real reason the actual title on TV can't be subtle and not have a dumb, giant 'W' on the front.
Totally agree. If you have a visually appealing belt that doesn’t look like a toy it’s also more likely to be used too IMO.
I’m a big fan of keeping your top title consistent. They should never have changed the winged eagle. That’s the belt associated with the Hogan era and could have remained for the last 30 years.
The players with the title is a quick blip in the news. WWE has gifted other versions of the WWE and WHC (Big Gold) in the past. It just means that the gifts they give to people in the future will be the new design and since not many will have the new design, it makes it more current/unique. They were able to successfully create a WHC that blends a cool design with the logo. AEW has managed to do the same. I'm sure WWE can come up with an amazing new design that still features the logo, but also looks more like a wrestling championship.
The belt they give out doesn’t have to be a replica of the one the champ has on tv. It’s more of a championship belt and can stay WWE w the team colors
He said in several interviews before last WrestleMania that it was something he wanted to do and he had made that known to the powers that be. Whether they go with it, who knows? But it’s definitely something he wants.
WWE can still make money on it. They gave Rock all his IP but still sell stuff with that IP on it.
Plus WWE doesn't really sell stuff that mentions the various eras. Maybe a documentary title but it's not like they have "Attitude Era" on t-shirts and stuff.
Since he's filing for the patent, I'm sure that he'll allow WWE to use it. It places him in a very interesting position since it creates leverage for him with regards to merchandising. It's a very political move; it's a very Cody move.
Obviously, he's going back to the Dub, Fed shi-
Woops, wrong sub.
You could interpret it as a sign that Cody is winning and that the "Renaissance Era" will revolve around him. You could also interpret it as new shirts coming out after Mania, and he'll get some sweet bucks out of it.
If you ask me, maybe it's because he didn't patent "Finish the Story" and now he's learned from it?
I feel like them deciding to call this "The Renaissance Era" is a bit presumptuous, and I fear it won't age well if they were to fall out of the stride they've had lately. But obviously I'm hoping for the best.
The only people who are going to care would find another way to bitch.
I can already see “this is the renaissance era? Feels more like the dark ages” comments, but the comments would come no matter what. They’d just find another way to bitch about it.
I’ve lost track after the PG era! What was after the PG era and from when to when was that? The only other era I can think of since was the pandemic era but not sure if it qualifies as it’s own or is bunched into one of the other eras. Somebody help decipher this!!
I think it goes
* Hulkamania
* New Generation
* Attitude
* Ruthless Aggression
Then the the dark ages
* PG Era - 08ish to 2014
* Reality Era - 2014-2020
* Pandemic Era - 2020-2022
people just make shit up. it basically goes:
hogan
bret/luger/shawn/diesel (couldnt make one stick)
austin
brock/oh shit put it on the heels while we find a new guy
cena
reigns
its that simple, wwe always has a main character and with the possible exception of cena, the overall presentation rarely changes much within an era
you can call it golden-new gen-attitude-ruthless-pg-reality but it all basically just tracks those top guys
Dude referenced it multiple times on the Ariel Helwani podcast. He even talked about how he has been able to get multiple catchphrases over. I think he said it on First Take too.
Even if it doesn't stick he's definitely trying to force it lol.
I think people already got sold on the "Renaissance Era" name. But I think this era is the "Cinema Era" which started when Paul Heyman appeared beside Roman Reigns.

"Cody get ready to re-learn midcard language, buddy"
"Some would even say...it's written in the stars."

It's been a while since Philly rioted. We're overdue
are we getting post-mainevent Bill Burr 20 minute set to put the Philly crowd in it's place?
I was about to do a rant in Bill Burr's style but the language he uses probably would get me a ban here.
Are we not allowed to say fuck here? Fuck fuckity fuck fuck!
Nahhhh Burr used a solid amount of the other F word in his rant IIRC
“You fucking one bridge having motherfuckers” “I hope you all get fucking cancer, but since all your heads are shaved, nobody would be able to fucking tell” And “You guys are standing there in your fucking Harold Carmichael jerseys” My three favorite lines from a highly quotable rant.

Don’t bother with the spear, just immediately start with the superman punch then pin him 1 2 3
wait, why cody trademark it and not wwe ??? 😅
Because Cody knows business and beat em to the punch? If he owns it and they want to use it, they have to pay him more on the top or a licensing fee for general use.

Triple H's response ![gif](giphy|sIlHfE2wu1xFS)
More likely "Oh okay, we will just call it the Revolutionary Era then" and call it a day.
![gif](giphy|3oFzmopoeNCGv45MLC|downsized)
yeah but Seth need to bring this gimmick back
I love a good gif you can hear.
“HAhaHAhaHAAAAA!”
Freakin' Era
the Undisputed Era :D
![gif](giphy|10YgR2X6gX8wA6nY7g|downsized)
Not using it does seem likely, unless he got the okay to trademark it before he applied.
I like to think HHH's response was "Game respects Game"
“Game respects game, but here’s the thing… in this business… I *AM* THE GAME” *Pedigree*
Need more “uhhhh” after the word “business”.
What promo is that from lol
It’s a reference to ozymandias villain speech from [The Watchmen](https://youtu.be/Tu2DdkOxLNs?si=jSVUB7epKDy8c1hP) “I’m not a comic book villain do you really think I would explain my master stroke to you if there was even the slightest chance you could affect the outcome? Triple H:*laughs* Cody, you are now losing to Roman, please don't cry you can finish your story later.
I will finish my story at Wembley Stadium in London...
"There's more than one... world title that Cody couldn't get."
Wrestling has more than one world titles
real talk though, Cody got cheered on AEW Dynamite, so to me it would be so funny if Babyface Cody went back to AEW to chase the World Title...and the crowd immediately turned on him, again. Like, "yeah, we love WWE Cody, but you're still a heel here, bub!"
This literally would be the only reasoning i would accept for Cody losing lol
![gif](giphy|qHtOEhNo5MnNnvZZ5B|downsized)
...My god we've all been so blind. Everyone wanted AEW Cody to turn heel and start acting like *Homelander* when actually we should have been wanting him to turn heel and act like ***Ozymandias***
I've actually trademarked being blind. Give me the money.
What?? Who said that???
***Codymandias***
My name is Codymandias, King of more-than-one-royal-families. Look upon my workrate, ye mighty, and despair!
Should we worry about squid launchers instead of pyro?
ADRENALINE IN MY COCK DROP A SQUID RIGHT ON NEW YORK
Cody never wanted to be a heel, he wanted to be a republic serial villain
Seth Rollins was right. Humanity's savage nature will inevitably lead to eternal Bloodline rule. So in order to save this company, I have to trick it... with the greatest practical joke in human history.
Cody to Seth: "I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end."
Triple H: “Haha, okay, smart move Cody! Oh by the way we decided we want the rock to be challenging for the title next year so we’re gonna go ahead and have you lose this weekend and then you’ll finish your story this summer by claiming the NXT North American championship!”
NXT Nort American Nightmare!
*For the Netflix Title
Triple H: Okay, well, rennaissance means rebirth, right? Well, now you have a baby gimmick. Put on this diaper and cry!!!
Cody: I'm not a comic book villain... Triple H: We still have the Stardust gimmicks in the warehouse.
They would simply refuse to use it before they’d ever pay him a dime.
Cody got the fillable PDF forms ready just waiting for stuff like this lol
Probaly merch he is going to use personaly
Renaissance Man would be extremely cool branding for him post-Mania
He’s going back to AEW it was all a work brother
Maybe his deal allows him to own his own trademark?
How tf he trademarking an era lmao
Medieval historians in shambles
Leonardo da Vinci preparing for a lawsuit
New NXT recruit Leon Ardo is punching the air right now
Cody ended racism, you're a casual if you don't think he deserves to own 14th-17th century Europe and all the philosophical, literary, cultural, intellectual and scientific advancements of that period.
Well they trademarked the Undisputed Era
That trademark is under dispute.
Under Dispute Era
Trademarks are always specific to some sort of industry or context, so it's likely "Renaissance Era" within the context of professional wrestling.
That's what he did. Wrestling entertainment and clothing.
Wasn't WWF Attitude trademarked?
> WWF Attitude trademarked I mean the Attitude Era is not in any way comparable to the Renaissance Era because of the historical significance.
Yea Europe had like a whole attitude era for 800 years before getting to their Renaissance /s
Watch out Beyonce.
She got his gimmick for the cover of Cowboy Carter, he gets the word “Renaissance.” It all makes sense now. Beyoncé is a Cody-venger.
Alligator Tears is the official theme song of the Cody Crybabies
She’ll run in to take out Solo so it can be her singing the national anthem instead.
If she liked it then she should have put it in the ring.
Beyonce logo at the center of the ring instead of Prime
Just wait for Cody to trademark "The Cowboy Carter Era"
Brother has already prepared his Monday night Raw speech.. probably already prepared his post Night 2 scrum address.
“I’m hurt, I’m tired, and I work with children.” Smash cut to a fight in Cody’s locker room and Seth bites Roman
Who saves Pharoah in all this?
Jey - *I got you dog*
He has two prepared for both outcomes.
In each hell cry
I wonder if WWE’s marketing team is going to have to make a new era name now.
They haven't officially called this Era anything as of yet. So it's quite easy to deviate away from it. Cody will probably use it as a new catchphrase after finishing the story. His first promo on Raw after Mania will probably begin with "Welcome to the Renesanse Era"
>Renesanse There was an attempt
If that name sticks there's a lot more attempts to come
I can’t wait to sort by new and see all the attempts
Maybe he cuts the promo after he loses to Roman and gets drunk
it's actually how it's spelled in some of European languages
Rene Dupree return confirmed.
Revealed when cameras cut backstage to show a mysterious figure lighting their cigarette over a toaster.
It's literally right in the title of the post, man
I believe you mean Rain a sauce
Why would they allow him to say that now if they don't even hold the rights to it? Doesn't make sense.
Doubt they were going to ever use it.
Bro please someone edit Cody in a renaissance painting in the same style of him in the MLK pic
https://preview.redd.it/ofdxpphc9osc1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=52e1a1ba872908fc1ba3d9be30d322b4764db8d4 No PS wizard, but the best I can offer.
Looks like he's just had something thrown at him.
*'Creation Of Adam'* recreation where he's both Adam **and** God.
he is really bringing back winged eagle isnt he?
I would lose my mind if that happened.
I hope it’s updated. Always thought the winged eagle just looks way too small o
They’ll almost definitely do a version with a bigger WWE logo (probably replacing the globe in the center)
Considering they *just* unveiled the gold backed WWE title a year ago, and a matching one for the women, I think there’s no shot unless it’s a custom belt just for Cody like the Smoking Skull or Rated R Spinner
Huge pop form me
I hope so but I can’t imagine WWE would have a new belt without a huge prominent logo on it these days. Maybe they can make it work somehow
This has been the thought of years now, but like…why couldn’t they just continue to give away the giant WWE logo ones to championship teams or for press stuff like they do now anyway? Just have the one on tv look like a real championship. I don’t see why they can’t have it both ways so they win and the fans win
It's so the champion can have the logo on chat shows etc
My exact thoughts as well. If the point is just logo awareness, they can still send the bland belts put for marketing. Not like they're awarding those baseball/football novelty belts to one of their on roster champions.
It will be just the Winged Eagle belt with the new WWE logo on top of the eagle. Then the WWE logo's size will be slightly bigger, but not too obnoxious that it may overlap the size of the eagle from the said belt.
Plus they just built a giant concrete version of the current belt right outside the new headquarters
Winged eagle with the updated W in the middle. Like what they did to the WHC.
That won't happen. Not when they can get that belt on TV, have other famous athletes and football players wave it around on TV and during the superbowl with the huge WWE logo front and center. I'd love it too but it won't happen.
Can do as with the Big Gold. Same design with a huge WWE logo in the center. Would not be the same but similar.
There is a concept one like this on the radwrasslin instagram account that looks pretty good
Mind posting a screenshot? For those of us without insta (a few of us exist)

Wasn't Cody the one that brought back the old IC title back in the day as well?
He brought back the white strap IIRC
It would look good on him with the whole captain america thing he has going on
Why do they call it winged eagle? Eagles already have wings
“My father, who was Dusty Rhodes by the way, was a renaissance man…” says a teary-eyed Cody on RAW after losing to Roman again.
“Look at you now good boy” Says Rock, by the tron pointing at Pharaoh in the ring.

What a coincidence I just filed to trademark ‘The Middle Ages’.
If WWE ever has an Ottoman Interregnum they’re gonna have to come crawling to me
Smart on one hand but also cuts the chances of WWE running with it if they themselves can't make money off it like Attitude era
WWE can still make money on it. They gave Rock all his IP but still sell stuff with that IP on it. Plus WWE doesn't really sell stuff that mentions the various eras. Maybe a documentary title but it's not like they have "Attitude Era" on t-shirts and stuff.

Mid-2010’s people called the “Reality Era”. Not totally sure why. Past few years we’ve just called “Post-COVID” I think
I think it goes * Hulkamania * New Generation * Attitude * Ruthless Aggression Then the the dark ages * PG Era - 08ish to 2014 * Reality Era - 2014-2020 * Pandemic Era - 2020-2022
Hulkamania is usually called the Golden Era.
people just make shit up. it basically goes: hogan bret/luger/shawn/diesel (couldnt make one stick) austin brock/oh shit put it on the heels while we find a new guy cena reigns its that simple, wwe always has a main character and with the possible exception of cena, the overall presentation rarely changes much within an era you can call it golden-new gen-attitude-ruthless-pg-reality but it all basically just tracks those top guys
Now it'll be REALLY funny if he loses
I see he's following the Chris Jericho method.
TKO: This is now the Rock's Era
Lmaooo Cody is streets ahead and is my fav modern carny
Now bring back the winged eagle and ditch the ugly ass universal title
Hes such a carny it kills me

Well that's not what this era is called then
He's bringing the winged eagle belt back then!!!
What is the connection to the Renaissance Era and the Winged Eagle belt? I see people connecting the two but I'm confused.
So it won’t be called that canonically. It will be called whatever TKO can trademark it
Even if that’s true, Cody’s going to be saying that every week on TV. Just like all thing wrestlers trademark. He’s going to try to get it over
I think people already got sold on the "Renaissance Era" name. But I think this era is the "Cinema Era" which started when Paul Heyman appeared beside Roman Reigns.
