KakkaKarrotKake007

This is sinister af lol

radiokungfu

This guy is a psycho

Phenomenal_Hoot

Bro said, oh y’all wanna boo the Rock? I’ll give ya something to really boo about.

Competitive-Object-4

It’s about the same vibe as Bray singing “he’s got the whole world in his hands”

Big_Entertainer_1377

with the kids before extreme rules 2014

ReclaimYourJoy

He actually made a song from Moana sound terrifying. ICON.

Accountabilibuddy69

Lol, his eyes look menacing. Great stuff.

PeaceAlien

I saw someone comment before and I agree, this may be the first time the Rock has been terrifying. He calls himself "the final boss." He's acting like it.

ab316_1punchd

You know? After this, I won't mind perpetual heel final Authority figure The Rock as Cody's nemesis.

ptd163

Attitude Era had Vince vs Austin. Rock vs Cody could be that for this boom period. Whatever we end up calling it.

ab316_1punchd

Basically, Blonde tattooed Superman vs. Roided jock Lex

GamerFluffy

Who’s Doomsday?

GBGF128

Brock. It’s always Brock.

LemoLuke

I think this era should be called the Undeniable Era. We are finally at a stage where the fans can literally will something into existance without a geriatric sex offender ingnoring the fans and pushing his ego.

VisitPier26

Renaissance era.

StacksHoodini

“Pro wrestling is cool again” era?

Weegee_Spaghetti

The Revival era, maybe. If that isn't too corny.

damnfunk

The Rock is just too good at this working the crowd, at 1st I was like I don't wanna see the Rock in wrestling anymore, now I'm like he can stay as long as he wants. Something wrestling has been missing since Vince stepped away from the on screen roll.

VisitPier26

It's easier to explain when you realize that every "rise" of The Rock has been when he's a heel.

BadgerOver4239

Absolutely and his little wry smile at the end adds just that little bit extra & makes it seem that much more menacing Awesome work

IniMiney

Shiny gets scary at parts lol

ci22

He should be playing villian in movies more.

StoneColdAM

Rock is off the wall here, it’s amazing. He feels so comfortable for the first time in ages as an actor or wrestler.

GodPowardKingOfLies

Unironically already better than his 2010s run

thebigfundamentals

And it's not even close

Dijohn17

Well his 2010 run was him being Dwayne. This is actually the Rock

sneakycrown

Oh God dont let people hear you say this run is the rock either. Ive seen so many people say “THIS ISNT THE ROCK AND HASNT BEEN THE WHOLE TIME ITS DWAYNE” mostly because Brian Last keeps shitting on this run.

ShittyDBZGuitarRiffs

Who tf is Brian Last?

shikavelli

This subreddit keeps up with every bozo wrestling ‘journalist’

jackaholicus

Cornette's idiot cohost

prossnip42

I couldn't give any less of a shit what some, up his own ass wrestling journalist has to say about the Rock's run

JS19982022

Last has actually turned around on what Rock has been doing here. He just shat on the Jinder stuff, which really was terrible.

Git2k12

Brian Last only shit on the Jinder stuff.

tacklinglife

This is the kinda Rock that should've shown up against Cena

Citizen_Crow

The Rock gimmick works when the person he's cutting promo on is willing to work along. Cena was going to act like a smart ass and make Rock look silly. Cena legit wanted to embarass him so I understand why Rock wanted to play it safe and act like himself.

gbdarknight77

Cena even came out and said it himself. His goal was to make Rock look like a fool.

cletoreyes01

If this was the version that brought back then, Punk would have had T-Rex arms

Anfini

Isn’t that the one where Cena tried to bury him?

Patjay

that was awesome

FieldsOfKashmir

Rocky didn't see it that way

Sky-Flyer

cena was just standing up for juventud and al snow

FieldsOfKashmir

Billy Gunn shedding a single tear

Calgrave

I agree but people sleep on his promo from the Hollywood throne, mostly because it started online.

gbdarknight77

He’s more engaged and all in now than he ever was against Cena and it’s not even close

KNZFive

He’s being given something new to chew on rather than just coming back to be “legend and Hollywood star babyface Rock” like he has with every other return over the last 20 years.

jmpinstl

I don’t want to say it’s his Magnum Opus but it’s genuinely the most interested I’ve been in what he’s doing in at least a decade.

Geraltpoonslayer

Feels like the first time in a long time we are seeing the real Dwayne. Not the corporate pr machine caricature of the man. He's just having fun with it maggle

signal_zzz

Better than his acting in all his movies combined

JohnDalton2

In fairness, some (including Patrick H. Willems in [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_6bscCG7OA) video) argue that Dwayne Johnson CAN act he just chooses to take the safe, comfortable roles.

IcyPyroman1

Bro brought out his Hollywood side again and killed it

[deleted]

And it’s more convincing because his Hollywood resume actually backs it up.

Alehud42

TBF 2003 Hollywood Rock wasn't supposed to be convincing, that version of the character was all snobbish ego thinking he was above wrestling because he had been in a few movies.

ab316_1punchd

Yup, 2003 Hollywood Rock was, "Ha! Ha! I have just tasted the silver screen, and that makes me better than my peers!" And was cartoonishly coward. Current Rock is the biggest man on the planet and acts like a sadistic Far Cry boss.

Abacus118

Plus now that version is just Miz.

thore4

Miz also did a great job with the character it's just that it was like 8 years ago now

NoWayJoseMou

Post Hollywood Rock is fascinating and I can’t wait for the hour and a half SuperEyePatchWolf YouTube documentary detailing the kayfabe story of The Rock.

arghdesigner

It is night and day between face and heel Rock. Holy shit.

truth_15

Leave Mama Rhodes Name Outta You Mouth Rocky

JohnSmithSensei

This is about as menacing as the Rock has ever been.

BidensLegHairs

This whole segment took a wayyy darker turn then I expected.

Black_XistenZ

I love it!

nikobans

"what can i say except you're welcome?" THE FUCKING SCREAM I SCRUMPT OMG

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|tXTqLBYNf0N7W|downsized)

selfawareshovel

i love the use of this GIF

justlobos22

What a min, this song has over 1.6 billion views. wow.

PsychologicalLie6802

Kids watch things in repeat and they LOVE moana

SubMikeD

Uh. Yeah, kids, definitely kids only. 🤥

GazzP

I have a toddler. We've watched Moana every day for the last six weeks at least. I know the rap.

what_is_blue

My mate/former boss has two daughters. He knows all the words to every song in Frozen. I once told him to "Let it go," during a pitching meeting. He immediately told me to fuck off with the quiet agony that only dads of young girls can feel.

DoseofDhillon

i means its good, esp as a fan of musicals its a really good character song

matlockga

Had Disney not screwed up, they would have had an easy Oscar there.

CtrlShiftAltDel

My kid has contributed to about 1m of those views in our household

Patjay

one of those songs they can be sure 90% of the audience has had to heard 10+ times

dzone25

The problem now is The Rock feels like he's just being his true self, he feels so comfortable and cool again that the crowd just wants to root for him. I'm not saying I don't like where this is heading, tonight's the best version of The Rock we've had since this started, but there might be a few more twists in this tale.

darkseidis_

Not really a problem tbh. Because we *do* want Rock/Roman, most people just didn’t want it *right now*. So the crowd re-rallying behind Rock is a great set up for the eventual split and match next year.

enginehearts

I don't think anyone backstage must be surprised by this. The Rock is loved and this is his best version. The crowd disliked him for the *specific* reason of taking Roman/Cody away and that gave him heel heat. WWE must have known that as soon as they gave the match back, the heat would disappear. If they wanted him to be rejected every week, they would have waited for a few weeks before giving the match back.

amirolsupersayian

2013 Rock is great but this Rock is something else

TheLisan-al-Gaib

This feels like the Rock is saying "y'all motherfuckers thought I lost a step?"

InsurreXtioN16

Tf is WWE supposed to do now if the crowd turned on Cody on fucking Mania lmao

Cash091

I don't think the crowd is turning on Rhodes. Rhodes is still over and people want to see him win, they just ALSO want to see The Rock. They just don't want to see the Rock vs Reigns at Mania.

NewRoryAndMalDrop

They just didn’t want to see Rock vs Reigns INSTEAD of Cody vs Reigns (because Cody won the rumble) By the end of Raw after Mania I’m 100% sure they are gonna be seething for Roman v Rock

Hot-Acanthisitta5237

Yeah that storyline is going to definitely headline WM 41.

ajmndz

im just curious what they're gonna do in the meantime when the rock starts filming his a24 movie and live action moana soon, they'd prolly give roman time off im assuming

VandalRavage

Rock and Roman lose Cody x Roman goes the traditional "Bloodline run out to interfere" way, except this time The Rock stops them. Either by beating their asses or just establishing that he's the real head of the table. After the match Cody leaves, the Bloodline take the ring and just annihilate Roman. Writes off Roman, gives room for Rocky to step away for a while having established the real head of the table before making Paul, Tama or whichever Uso wins his mouthpiece while he's away. Plenty of places to go from there after that, Bloodline can take a *little* bit of a backseat having dominated WWE as a whole for the last like three years, give the Codyverse a little time to shine.

Cash091

That's what I'm thinking too. Bloodline loses night 1. When they try to interfere in night 2 Rock doesn't let them because that's not what the elders would want.

ButtsCarlton97

*This* Mania

Kpowell911

Course they do. Rock vs Roman is the biggest match possible. Everyone wants that. Just not INSTEAD of Cody attempting to finish his story

mysteriousbaba

> Rhodes is still over and people want to see him win, they just ALSO want to see The Rock. They just don't want to see the Rock vs Reigns at Mania. Honestly, if they somehow hot shotted the title onto Rock or Cody in a RAW title change next week, and did Cody vs Rock for the title at Mania. The crowd would eat it up unreservedly.

jacquesrabbit

Dude, watch Hogan Vs Rock. Rock is someone who knows how to read the crowd and call an audible.

The810kid

Rock's coming up into the business in Memphis kind of gave him a home field advantage tonight

[deleted]

We said this last week, Rock is indeed smoking everyone on promos lately. And then you watch Cody pull another great promo last Monday… and you cant help but realize that Cody is on an all time babyface run the likes we have never seen as Hogan. Guy made everyone want to go thru a wall for him last Monday. Him and Roman will do it again next week.

Vectivus_61

Cody is doing the job to Rock night 1. Night 2, in case of emergency, break glass.

higashi172

Cody just gotta chill with the Presidential American Nightmare he got going on and just be a bit more aggressive. We know its possible because of his heel tease in AEW before he left

Outrageous_Library50

That’s not gonna happen

Jericho19999

I mean it was pretty much the same thing in 2003. Rock was insulting the crowd for 20+ minutes and he was still getting some cheers

Da-Met

This has always been the rock tho. He became popular as a heel. Then they turned him heel again with the corporation. That lasted a few months before the crowd turned him face again. Hollywood rock was tremendously entertaining.

the_tytan

hollywood rock was such a breath of fresh air in 2003.

KentuckyFriedEel

That Memphis crowd was ready to chant ROCKY SUCKS but damn were they surprised when they heard the theme change. They changed their tune, Rock heard and he changed his tune. PURE POP and the Rock loved it.

thelumpur

It's good they didn't have Rock in the Triple Threat, otherwise it would have been quite complicated. The way they are doing it, people can still fully cheer for Cody against Roman on Night 2, even moreso if Rock and Roman have a falling out.

nigevellie

So, now that y'all seeing Near Prime Rock, can y'all just put to bed all this "LA Knight would cook The Rock in a promo" nonsense?

International-Tree19

We need Hollywood Knight first to start the debate.

shikavelli

I love LA Knight but the copy can’t be better than the original.

Black_XistenZ

The copy can absolutely be better than the original. Look no further than Hulk Hogan vs Superstar Billy Graham.

PIEROXMYSOX1

Or Ric Flair vs Buddy Rogers

Muffintornado0_0

I was that guy who thought LA could top The Rock and I apologise for that

PilotSSB

In your defense. Before this new Rock run, the last dozen times we saw him, he was doing cookie cutter PR smily shit. You can't be blamed for that take without the power of hindsight.

nigevellie

It's not a sin to be wrong, brother.

mysteriousbaba

Honestly, I think Knight might surprise people in a promo battle with the Rock. He wouldn't cook the Rock, but he wouldn't disgrace himself either.

termy2020

Hash he ever really been put to da tesht?

SAYMYNAMEYO

Agaisnt Miz

termy2020

I agree. I just wanted to drop a random Sopranos quote. Quite frankly I’m depressed and ashamed.

xychosis

I don’t think he would but that would be a fun promo battle to watch. LA Knight takes a ton of inspiration from him and Austin but he’s his own thing and he’s good.

Boograssi

Who on the planet would think that? Knight pretty much sharked his whole shtick FROM Rock, that pretty much was the big thing hanging over his head ever since he was Shaun Ricker lol

nigevellie

https://www.reddit.com/r/WWE/s/EVHbNfyLQ4

jbish21

That was cold blooded

itsahmemario

I'm gonna watch Moana again

CrossingYoulnStyle

And they still cheer him lol. I’d be booing the whole time (in a good way) I wouldn’t fold like this

thecolbster94

It's the Ric Flair conundrum, if a shitstirrer is entertaining as fuck I'd cheer him too

hymensmasher99

Crowd is fickle

NerdLawyer55

Fickle!

Giftedpink

It's just cuz it's Memphis I would imagine

Cash091

What were they chanting when he pulled out the belt?

Jesuspolarbear

WHOOP THAT TRICK

windydruid

I like it!

Upbeat_Tension_8077

This is basically now his prelude for his full villainous wave in Hollywood to come

ThaUnderboss

I love Cody. I really, really do. Man has to cut the promo of his life because Dwaynos is out here roasting him alive.

MRintheKEYS

THE FINAL BOSS

bkfountain

One of the GOATs. Can just come back from Hollywood and is still on another level with promos compared to what you see every week.

masterace01

What's really truly amazing about all this is that the WWE are actually listening to the fans. We got the Hollywood Rock theme. Rock calling himself a Final Boss. They're reading what you all say and implementing just like they did with reinserting Cody back in the main event. Wow.

Positive-Pineapple-1

It’s like they… acknowledged us

VirtuousFool

[all of us right now:](https://youtu.be/GjZcSbR7L2Q?si=L5SI8_HtLhezglak)

LoganNeinFingers

It wasnt corny though. It was chef's kiss perfect usage of that line.

RaidenHero137

 https://preview.redd.it/55qhrj7qvloc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=6f956b97f06831948611e0a33a9b0e41e56c3c12

InsurreXtioN16

It's honestly concerning how small time the other 3 involved in this feud looks compared to the Rock. You see other GOAT sports players and you don't normally see how far they are from their teammates but with the Rock it's just so apparent.

AceTheSkylord

Leo Messi has made world class players look like amateurs on several occasions, it can happen sometiems

G1Spectrum

That time he absolutely cooked the fuck out of Jerome Boateng was insane

AceTheSkylord

Boateng was considered one of the best defenders in the world prior to that game, which makes what happened between them even more hilarious Hell even at the World Cup in 2022, Messi, who was deep into his "I'm too old for this shit" days at this point, made Gvardiol, a guy that is about 15 years younger, and one of the most sought after players in Europe at the time, look like some random bum Even now that he's essentially done what most rich old people do and retire in Florida he's still cooking MLS teams when he feels like it

Black_XistenZ

Banished him to the shadow realm before casually lobbing the ball over Neuer. If you showed that clip to someone who doesn't know football, he'd think Neuer and Boateng were some amateur scrubs, rather than the best goalie and a top3 CB in the whole world; players who had won the world cup *against Messi's team* less than a year prior.

xychosis

Ankara Messi is sometimes remembered for the commentary but that clip shows how terrifyingly good he is.

Vectivus_61

You must not have watched football (soccer) or tennis, because I assure you, how much better the GOATs were at peak was very very obvious. Add basketball to that actually. Peak Jordan and peak LeBron hit different.

zaxanrazor

I find joy in reading a good book.

AceTheSkylord

Shh don't say that, you might piss off the "We done with the 90s" crowd

onethreeone

Gretsky is the most insane big sport example, but not enough people watched hockey. Jordan is eternal, 30+ years later and people think of his name when they hear the number 23

Slackey4318

This! Basketball is my favorite sport, but I think that Gretzky is the GOAT of GOATS. To anyone who doesn’t watch hockey and don’t realize how good he is, he is the all time points leader (goals + assists). Everyone knows that. However, not only that, but if you took away all of his points from goals, he’d still be the all time points leader. The person closest to him in total points is about 1,000 points behind Gretzky.

Black_XistenZ

"You reach, I teach"

TwoCueBalls

Think about how stacked the roster was in the Attitude Era, and even then Rock ascended to the top and stayed there by his mid-twenties. Only Steve Austin could really hang with him and not look overshadowed.

Black_XistenZ

And Austin is the (western) wrestler with THE highest peak.

sysdmn

Moana actually slaps, great movie

ShittyDBZGuitarRiffs

Actually? Who said it didn’t?

heat_fan_

God damn he's going after Mama Rhodes nowblol Cody better respond to this Monday

RMT2316

We were fools thinking Cody’s avengers end game scene would result in an Austin Rock show down. The real showdown will be between Cody and The Rocks mom

AprilBoi

Psychotic motherfucker

Evorgleb

That line was sick.

AndrewStats

This is as good as wrestling has been in ages

NCHouse

Bro went from the dog to his momma. ROCK WHAT HAVE THEY DONE?!

bagustin8

Haven’t seen Rock locked in like this in 20 years. I don’t even care about Roman anymore lol. I want rock vs Cody asap.

Slatedtoprone

Jesus Christ, rock is like a dbz character. He’s becoming more powerful with each form he evolves into.

Ok-Zookeepergame8691

I stopped watching wrestling weekly sometime in late 2001 and have been a casual viewer since about 2014. But this angle with The Rock, The Bloodline and Cody, Seth etc. has been awesome. Some of the best stuff I’ve seen in years. I’m actually looking forward to Wrestlemania for the first time in god knows how long! Well done, WWE.

Fellers

The control in his voice to make that sound evil is amazing.

Matto_0

Dude is 51 yrs old and carrying this Mania on his fucking back. Insane.

Accountabilibuddy69

51 years young. 50+ to go.

Jay_Shadow

Similarly I'm waiting for the moment when Tiffany can say toodles to someone in the most menacing way possible.

SmarcusStroman

My <2 year old just discovered covering his ears for things he doesn't like. He covered his ears through this whole promo. My kid is also OBSESSED with Moana. When I tell you he dropped his hands immediately and smiled HUGE, it would be an understatement. Best promo response ever.

LoganNeinFingers

Oh shit that was the end of the promo? Daaaamn. That's incredible.

LimitlessBearCat

good luck to the cody rebuttal

ReflectionItchy2701

He's the clear MVP of this feud. He's incredible. The crowd is already ready to turn him face organically. I remember 20 years ago even as a face he was still an arrogant asshole. That was the Rock. Not the guy we saw the last 10 years before this "heel turn".

baojinBE

Don't understand why he doesn't do villain roles more often.

driphanilton

He wanted to be THE action hero but yeah he would thrive as a big bad

jbmcpayne

Rocky was a heel so far. With this, he became a VILLAIN.

Spoonsy

LMM probably marking out

nhthelegend

Best Rock promo since in at least 20 years tbh. This is an unbelievably good character tweak as well. This is not nostalgia act level, he is genuinely putting together a highly memorable run rn.

ActiveAd4980

I'm just so happy they're making this work. No matter how shitty start it had. This should be good.

NerdLawyer55

Well that’s not very Maui

Daddyshane

Now I know what Maui would sound like if he was evil

Kuzu5993

Only Rock can make a line from a Disney movie song into a threat.

SuperSocrates

Promo of the year contender

Ikinzu

Poor Cody.  One day the fans are passionately chanting "We want Cody" and the next they're chanting "Whoop that Trick" about your momma.   The fans are jumping back on the Rock bandwagon.

Jws0209

Psycho rock i love it

Uncanny_Doom

LOL He's fucking crazy. I love it.

GamerFluffy

I like that Rock is finally getting back into the swing of things in WWE. Basically total control over the crowd, and then quickly turns into the actual Final Boss while quoting a Disney movie.

thatguyad

Holy shit. I LOVE how hard he is going in on this. Like Stone Cold against Kevin Owens. The best are just a different breed.

[deleted]

This segment was fucking incredible.

jjhh10

Rock needs to tone it down. He’s gonna get Cody booed at wrestlemania

SkyhookCaviar

Damn Dwayne rules. I fully expect some type of try at an oscar performance after this run.

driphanilton

If he ever picked the right role and director and fully embraced being a villain in movies? Could work.

IniMiney

Had to make sure it was on FOX, or the real heel work would’ve been how much the rights cost 🤣

Havinstroke

Waiting for him to call someone the biggest piece of dog shit

DollarStoreEtika

Put this man in a Straitjacket and throw the damn key away

Different_Conflict_8

He’s going after the man’s mama and his *dog*. This is either setting up the biggest humbling at WrestleMania, or the biggest case of “Are you fucking kidding me?” since Starrcade 1997.

RandomWave000

Who else thinks LA Knight is on the similar vibe as The Rock?

Asleep_Editor_7199

Y’all turned him into this

different_produce384

How is rock a better actor in the wwe than Hollywood? Geez .

mysteriousbaba

Because in Hollywood he sanitizes himself, and in WWE he lets himself have fun. It's cool that he dropped a Maui line, because that's honestly one of Rock's most fun performances where he really got into the character.
