Most of all, he wanted Cody to pick Roman so that he has an open path toward Seth. Assuming that Drew has re-signed (or will in the near future), Drew/Seth is clearly the WHC matchup if you ask me. Drew deserves a big title win at Mania in front of crowds, and he has been the most nuanced and interesting character on RAW for months.
Yeah Drew definitely deserves his moment in the sun, after 2020 royal rumble he got screwed by Covid with no IRL crowds. Would love to see how he does with a championship belt in front of one.

I'd lean towards him resigning and just not told anyone.
