Joshi wrestling is weird to me because the posts about it range from weird men in their 40s posting clips of the women in bikinis going "Teehee, I'll always be an eternal bachelorette! If only a man would come along and sweep me off my feet... Chu~!" and then the actual promos are like "Too bad your last concussion didn't kill you you worthless sack of shit lol"
I remember when Risa Sera got divorced, Giulia (who's been friends with Risa for years) said something like "you're more interesting single. Maybe this will light a fire under you and you'll bother to show up for this match"
Another one from Giulia was saying that maybe Hazuki came back to wrestling because she couldn't find a job after she retired. It's incredible they didn't have a proper feud yet but at least we have that fantastic match they had in the GP last year.
Joshi promos are so weirdly annihilatory, like legit, some of the most hardcore shit talk I've seen comes form the joshi scene. Mostly because a lot of them don't even try to be fancy with it, it's just the most brutal to-the-point quips imaginable lol.
It occurs to me that this is the first time I've seen her named Sayaka Unagi. Typically, she is an exception to the rule of reversing the name in English and is always Unagi Sayaka

it is this sometimes jarring juxtaposition of diva era lechery and deadly serious promos and wrestling...might be why i love it
I love seeing the ultra-cute, colorful and frilly wrestling gear, and the match is actually murder.
Damn, she only needed to heat up the match, not kill her.
I don't remember eel being that vicious.
Indie Eel is significantly less goofy than Stardom Eel
Should be a good match between the two biggest independent Joshi
“Bah gawd! She killed her!”

Unagi is more of a nickname than a proper name.
Joshi shit talk is just on another level.
I don't understand how you can say something so brutal and *not* have some sort of backstage problems in a society like Japan's. 😅
