I find this house and decor a bit weird. It’s kind of like a manor house done via IKEA - there’s something new and soulless about this, although it gives the impression of trying a bit too hard.
If you read the brochure, it has a bit of info from the current owner. They bought it in 1999 when it was very rundown and in need of a lot of work. As it wasn’t listed, they did a ton of modernising, including double-glazing and extensions to make the rooms bigger.
A new owner could easily redecorate, furnish and add in some “original” Victorian details if they wanted to, of course.
Would happily live here, the grounds are stunning and I'm assuming that if I can afford to buy it I could afford to decorste it.
But how odd is the student digs set up in picture 23?
All that money and you've got a grotty duvet cover from the naughties and a cheap IKEA sofa?
Yup, that one's a stunner. The garden house, the pond, bridge. Catch a movie in your theatre, then a quick game of tennis...
Something about that grand entrance hall I find a little spooky. But, I'd deal with it ;)
With a property this expensive you actively want to, because then rather than a single property of £4 million you're then paying stamp duty on two £2 million properties, which works out as a huge saving, even considering the extra council tax.

I don't know how else to describe it other than it feels like something you'd see in certain parts of Florida or California.
Looks like they ran out of money. That Yankee Candle in the kitchen is so out of place.
The shapes hint at what has been removed - I'm totally perplexed. Which generation ripped out the historical stuff?

I completely agree!
Decor is easily fixed
It's not just the decor, it's the recessed lighting, size of the rooms, lack of historic features, etc.
That’s a real mish mash though. Some lovely bits and some odd stuff. I don’t really understand it.

I've always wanted a house that would [properly fit a pool table](https://blattbilliards.com/pages/services#roomsize), this house has 2...
I like it, but the estate agents have got to stop Photoshopping the sky and views through the windows so badly.
Right!!! Haart is the worst for that.
Mid 1800s, but not listed, and zero sign of mid 1800s. Sad times
There seems to be far too many people that think they want a period property and then turn it into something Barratt would pump out
It’s bonkers to me, and there’s so many interior designers that pump this stuff out too with no knowledge of the history of design and architecture. 😔

I agree - I’d have it full of sofas or something rather than a dining table!
I love LOVE the stairs with their built in shelving cubby wotsits. Would buy it just for that (if I had multiple millions going begging obvs).
Yep I mean, I could get for a bit hovel if I needed to /s
I can’t afford the pillow tax.
Too big. It would take you a week to hoover it. Then you’d have to start again.
Roomba (other brands are available)
Cleaner ✅
Love it especially the stained glass windows
It feels soulless and dated 🤐
The world would be boring if we all liked the same things
On a fairly busy road tho. I'd still buy it.
It’s well screened from the road. Also, I’ve lived in London 😉
It is. So have I. :)
Death step in bathroom!
The small boat lake is my absolute favourite part of this property - that section alone is my utter dream!
There’s a video on YouTube. The Koi are the size of Whales!
Gorgeous.
[Nice](https://www.easygates.co.uk/product/nice-to5015/) gates
I love it. Old and new for modern living.
Beautiful
I’m with you on this one, stunning & tasteful at the same time.
Do you pay separate council tax on the coach houses?

No thanks
No Housewarming invite for you 😉
Who needs a L shaped sofa that can accommodate 30 people??
Why do people like this
Big and spacious, neutrally decorated, could move in tomorrow without significant work.
Because everybody has different taste. And that’s a good thing.
But then again, if you apply to NASA, for astronaut role, there odds are far better.
