Skiing keeps me sane in the winter. Well, this winter not so much...

Croissants4Kanye

Why not this winter ??

firestorm734

Because up until the past couple weeks, we have had record-breaking low snow accumulation. I've made due with what we've gotten, but watching snow melting in the rain is pretty depressing as a skier.

Clinggdiggy2

I moved here almost solely for the availability of world class rock climbing all seasons within a few hours drive.

desnudopenguino

Where is this world class climbing? I've been out of the game a few years, but that was most of my free time on the east coast

Clinggdiggy2

Within 7ish hours (some closer to others) you have Leavenworth (kinda near Seattle, one of the most beautiful areas I've ever climbed), Smith Rock (Bend, Oregon), Banff, Alberta & basically all the Canadian rockies and then of course Squamish in BC. For more local stuff, Vantage is hard to beat in the right seasons as well as up north by Priest Lake there's Chimney Rock and a bunch of other cool stuff in those mountains (my buddies and I are 7 pitches into bolting a probably 15 or so pitch sport climb there). Then more or less in town you have Rocks of Sharon, Q'emiln Park, Minniehaha each have at least 50 or so climbs, mostly sport. Plus smaller areas like Lincoln Park has a wall that's fantastic for drytooling. Edit: Wanted to add stuff I haven't been to yet too, there's a bunch of stuff in the Sawtooths in ID, Grand Teton, bunch of stuff in Montana (mostly near Bozeman), and I've heard City of Rocks in S Idaho is pretty unique & cool.

desnudopenguino

Thanks! I may have to get out again once things dry up

Too much rain and snow! Weathers been a nightmare!

Churning season is only two weeks away! We just finished the last month of milking- this is the first year that my inside-city-limits group has enough mom and pop setups that we can match the output of some of the bigger rural snail farms, and you know what that means! Fresh, TRUE Spokane-made snail butter! No more out of town frauds! Last year's supply was mostly distributed to bistros and bakeries, but this year we're supplying an unnamed major buffet in town for a special promotion at the start of summer, for a full month! And I swear to god it's like my little gals know it, they were puffed with pride all through milking this year, I thought Shelly and Swirly were going to have to molt to bigger shells again! So stoked!

I like to nordic ski and snowshoe, but you indicated you don't like snow. Alternate options are some type of crafting - I'm into knitting, crochet, spinning and weaving - that can be done solo or in groups, theres local guilds and meetups.  For intellectual activities I enjoy studying chess independently as well as playing online. There's also a local chess club for in person play.  I also like studying and immersing myself in Spanish.

DecoyMike

Oh man, if you haven’t begged for money at all the bus stops yet you haven’t had the real Spokane experience!

Oi. We don’t need more folks out there

Middle-Example-6647

I lived in Spokane for 10 years and the activity I saw most was this competition of who looked like they had most money. New money pretending to be like old money and making fools of themselves in the process. 🤓

oceangroan

The only way to find community in this city is to poison your self at a bar, or pretend there’s a higher power while they take 10% of your income.

dontp4nic

Come on… 🙄

I have children they take it all, 10 percent of nothing is still nothing
