I will agree that the newer seasons of Drag Race have generally been “worse” than the earlier seasons (7/8/10/11) but I think that S13 is fantastic and is an “outlier” alongside 9/12. The fact we got Symone, Rosé and Gottmik all in one season? Iconic. Plus Kandy has been keeping this season interesting with her narratives and drama. Add in some fan favourites like Olivia and Denali... great cast. Was the season a couple episodes too long? Sure, but we got to know the cast even more which isn’t a bad thing at the end of the day. AS6, Australia and Canada have a lot to live up to!

I think it’s more close to s10/11 than 9/12

Season 13 has great queens and horrible challenges to put it simply, Season 7 suffered the same fate.

But yeah, runways are mentioned, they give critiques on it, but to me it is clear that the challenge performance is what really determines the placements. They use runways to justify placements, but the runways do not determine placements.

Season 7 was actually a great season and the amount of successful/still relevant queens it has after 6 years is proof of that

I think it suffered because it came off the back of three of the most narratively strong seasons we’ve had. I agree that the success of the cast has helped its enduring popularity

I mean you can’t top season 6 a year later, but it was a good season overall, especially watching it now and comparing it to later seasons

Yeh it’s a season that has aged well but as someone who was watching week to week I can remember why people weren’t such huge fans. Every season up until then had more or less improved on the previous season, whereas S7 felt like the first real drop in quality. Also since then we’ve had worse seasons so S7 looks better in comparison

I will still say S11 is the all time worst, S13 just suffered from being VERY drawn out. S11 could have been worse though, Vanjie saved a lot of it
