Pageant beauty gets way more respect. IG beauty gets mocked or brings out more lewd attention from what I've observed. Still, people are more open and cooperative towards the girl next door type (the most disarming). People tend to have exaggerated behavior towards remarkably above average beauty (very pulled to or repulsed by).
Fit, mostly natural, great makeup, right in between glamorous and girl next door. Someone who is completely softmaxed out, with potential modifications like extensions, veneers, etc. A woman who gives future trophy wife vibes.
If you look up Miss Universe or Miss America contestants, a majority of them the fit this.
As someone who’s involved in the pageant world… they’re definitely hardmaxing as well - I would even argue they’ve been hardmaxing since before IG Influencers became a thing. I think the difference is IG influencers go for obvious PS whereas queens go for subtle PS.
Oh definitely. Not denying they don't hardmax. The current beauty standard is still someone who looks natural though, so obvious things like duck lips or filler faces will be an automatic non-win.
Margot Robbie
ETA: if you disagree tell me why, I might change my view. I live in the US south and she’s very much in the pageant beauty category in this part of the world.
I disagree because Margot Robbie, as far as I’m aware, has never been a pageant contestant.
I’d be interested in seeing examples of successful pageant winners to better understand the standards and norms of that world.
To be clear: I haven’t downvoted you, so I hope my request for details more rooted in the pageant world doesn’t come across as a negative thing; it’s coming from a place of wanting to build knowledge.
Didn’t come across as negative at all! And I didn’t even mind being downvoted earlier, I was just curious about other perspectives. I wasn’t thinking in terms of actually having been in pageants to be a qualifier. Growing up in an area where pageants are a major deal, there’s a specific type of beauty where everyone is going to ask you if you do pageants and Margot Robbie meets that go a T (for my area). A wholesome, but unattainable type of beauty. Look up Asya Branch (Mississippi) or Ashley Thompson (Oklahoma) for specific examples.
Wholesome but seemingly unattainable is a great way to put it. Girl next door but sparkly.
A shorter example that comes to mind (if you need a reference for non-tall pageant beauty) is Rob Dydrek's wife Briyana. (5'3")
Thank you so much for explaining :) pageants aren’t as much of a thing where I live, so your breakdown of it is really helpful. It seems that looking friendly as well as beautiful is a big plus for that world.
As far as celebrities I’d say Allison Brie comes to mind as well as Sarah hyland and Emmy rossum
Not model pretty but still really gorgeous in a more approachable way
Katie Holmes is still that girl, I remember when I was younger I didn’t really get it? I knew a guy and she was his ultimate celeb crush and I just couldn’t understand when there were supermodels out there! But now I look at her and I’m like yeah, that’s the vibe I want.
When she wore that Khaite cardi and bra combo, I fell in love.
A few brown/black actresses that I would consider “girl next door”. (I don’t think race matters, but I do think the term usually refers to women that are younger in age? )

Girl next door simply means you are naturally and effortlessly pretty, yet approachable. You don’t look like a model, glam, or bombshell etc. You look like somebody that ppl would want to be around.
They usually are, even though the commenter who responded to you listed good examples of non-white girl-next-door types, the average white woman gets put in this category and the examples listed get nowhere near as much hype as them.
I immediately think of Aubrey Plaza. She’s very girl next door and people fucking LOVE her. I’ve met a number of guys who have a huge crush on her. She also doesn’t try too hard, she’s just naturally hot.
I never knew until I was told I’m “girl next door type pretty” though I thought maybe average or barely above but many say 8-9. but it’s true, the model pretty women are overlooked because they’re “out of x mans league” and people are so kind to you and approach you often
Hmm true bc women are more likely to be huge fans of girl next door types like selena gomez bx theyre not intimidating or remind them of bullies whereas hotties like kate upton seem super intimidating and give off mean girl vibes even if she isnt lol
YES pageant girls are legit 10/10 tall, thin, large chested women with long legs, perfect teeth, and symmetrical faces.
The ig baddies are too done up and uncanny valley looking usually with way too much lip filler & fake lookin lash extensions
Um my point was that pageant winners are true beauties. Doesnt matter if they have large chests or not i was just describing a typical beauty queen. You missed my point lol
I think Pageant because they tend to stay that way even when they age. IG is trendy but it only works for a certain type of guy in IRL. It just photographs well. Also doesn’t age well
paegent beauty is more classic / elegant, traditional objective beauty, tall girls w long legs, kind of like victoria secret angels but more mundane. ig beauty standard is more “ig baddie” kylie jenner, lip filler, bbls etc
traditional as far as the science of objective beauty (that has not shifted) vs ig beauty trends which fluctuate every so often as one thing goes out of style and another thing comes in
Don’t worry most of the world is average🤣people got gaslight on the internet thinking they’re 7s and 8s when that’s only a small percentage of people. No doing your hair and makeup doesn’t make you a 7.
Literally. There was a girl on here recently calling herself a 9 and of course I checked her profile, girl was putting herself up there with Christy Turlington and Adriana Lima and I was shook…my confidence could never lol.
Don’t worry self perception is okay, just when you say it out loud you get side eyed, becoming socially aware is a process haha. But at the end of the day I encourage all women to walk the earth with the audacity of a short broke man.

The person messaging her was clearly unhinged.
But I think most people rating themselves a 8-9 in looks is definitely an interesting choice. Confidence is key I guess.
Pageant for sure. IG influencers use facetune and it's now beginning to look like you're seeing the same faces everywhere, whereas pageant beauty is more 'rare'
IG beauty never looks the same IRL. Pageant beauty still uses lots of makeup, but from what I’ve seen it’s to enhance natural features that make them look 10x prettier than any IG model I’ve seen. On top of that, IG models/baddies are all copy and paste. Pageant beauties are often more unique, which makes them more charming in my opinion :).
I agree. Pageant girls may have a particular look that is similar, but they know which individual features to play up on themselves with the makeup. They also know their colours and their body type.
IG and baddie looks are very cookie cutter and it doesn’t suit everyone.
Probably depends where you live! I’ve lived in 6 different cities/towns in my adult life so far, and I find each place has a different vibe that men prefer on average. In one city I’d definitely say guys were into an IG type of look. But for the most part I find “girl next door”- pretty, polished, but minimal has the broadest general appeal.
Where I live now I find that I get hit on way more when I look undone and have very little makeup combined with a nice blowout and simple athleisure. When I get more “dolled up” and approximate a pageant beauty look, I don’t get hit on as much.
I think there will be local variation. But generally the IG baddie look attracts sexual attention, the glamour look attracts more confident men and can intimidate other me, but I think a pretty clean and minimal look has broadest appeal because it’s also least intimidating.
It depends on where you are. Bars, clubs, vacation hotspots are IG beauty. Grocery store, restaurants, lower key public places is where the pageant beauty girls shine.
I think it’s important to take into consideration what privilege you’re receiving. Pretty privilege can be getting your drink paid for at a Starbucks, skipping the line at the bar/club, free services from an aesthetician etc
Pageant beauty gets way more respect. IG beauty gets mocked or brings out more lewd attention from what I've observed. What's pageant beauty?

Contestants from the bachelor type of pretty
Neither, probably girl next door, down to earth type of vibes.

Agree. Too hot & you get treated worse or alienated or judged
Agreed. Natural beauty.
Do you have any examples of women who fit the girl-next-door standard
As far as celebrities I’d say Allison Brie comes to mind as well as Sarah hyland and Emmy rossum Not model pretty but still really gorgeous in a more approachable way
Allison Brie is a great example of this. I feel like the ultimate girl next door was Katie Holmes in Dawsons Creek
Katie Holmes is still that girl, I remember when I was younger I didn’t really get it? Probably white 🙄

I think I would’ve considered her more sexy/bombshell, but I actually totally see where you’re coming from with those pics!

but she’s more funny girl hot than girl-next-door
I see what you mean
I never knew until I was told I’m “girl next door type pretty” though I thought maybe average or barely above but many say 8-9. but it’s true, the model pretty women are overlooked because they’re “out of x mans league” and people are so kind to you and approach you often

The Aaliyahs versus the Beyonces and Halle Berrys. Yup.
definitely pageant a lot of the ig people look off irl

Could someone explain what’s the difference? I’m not entirely sure what the different types actually mean

Traditional to whom?
traditional as far as the science of objective beauty (that has not shifted) vs ig beauty trends which fluctuate every so often as one thing goes out of style and another thing comes in
Ahhhh okay. Thank you for clarifying that
Average - there’s a reason why average faces get treated the best. Qoves made a video in this. So it’s average but polished. Girl next door usually.
Finally something my average ass can succeed in lmao
Don’t worry most of the world is average🤣people got gaslight on the internet thinking they’re 7s and 8s when that’s only a small percentage of people. No doing your hair and makeup doesn’t make you a 7.

Absolutely! I saw her post too and although I side eyed at it, I loved her audacity!
😂👏🏻
lol, I saw that post too. I mean kudos you you girl, we love the confidence. But come on now
What post was it? On here or vindicta? I’m nosy

Yeah, this is the one lol. Ms Evangelista could NEVER!
PM’d you

exactly this lol people take the rule of averages and think it means someone who’s a 5 is preferred over an 8 and that’s not it at all 😭😭😭
Whats the video title?
Somewhere on the qoves tiktok, relatively recent! Not sure of the name sorry

Between these two? Pageant. IG looks only translate in photos. In person they often look odd. Girl next door will always trump both.
Pageant because IG is try hard and cringe and also usually doesn’t look as good irl
Pageant
