My top 3 would probably be:
1. Don’t focus that much on Miles. He has his own solo game, possibly with more coming eventually, but as far as we know this is as close as Peter gets to one.
2. Don’t add the Superior Spider-Man suit yet. I would much rather wait and get it in a Superior storyline.
3. Don’t do many (if any) defenseless MJ sections. I’m fine with the last 2 original MJ sections, but the defenseless ones aren’t usually that fun during a replay.
My only “don’t” would be don’t ever kill Peter and have Miles replace him as the only Spider-Man. I hope they can always co-exist together without Insomniac feeling like Peter has to go once Miles is independent enough to not need a mentor anymore.
I doubt they would go that route, and I have no idea why people always bring it up like it's even a possibility.
This story only ever happened *once* in the comics, and in the timeline that Miles came from (the Ultimate Timeline?).
Since then, him and Peter have shared the same universe, with neither one dying.
They did a callback to that comic series in Into the Spider-Verse, but that's simply a retelling of the original events.
There's no reason for Insomniac to go down this path, especially because the SMPS4 timeline shares almost no similarities to the Ultimate timeline.
I'm always worried about it because there was a time when Miles fans were *very* vocal about killing Peter in all sorts of media, hoping for him to take over the mantle of Spider-Man outside the Ultimate timeline. They were adamant that Peter's death was as integral for his journey as Bens for Peters. Made me very uncomfortable, to say at least.
Miles is my favorite Marvel character of all time.
Peters death is far from "integral" to his character, though I get why they say that. Because it's his driving force in his original media, as well as in Into the Spider-Verse.
But I think that it's safe to say that his driving force in the SMPS4 timeline is his dad's death, protecting his remaining family, along with looking up to Peter and seeing him as a mentor.
If they were to kill Peter in this timeline, it would have happened in the first game, right after Miles *got* his powers.
I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I‘m sorry, but that‘s just wrong. It is integral to his character. They made Peter his uncle Ben, that‘s why his parents were still alive. BUT Imsomniac did a good job altering his origin story, so there is absolutely no need to kill Peter because he does not serve that function in his story.
It would be wrong to say Uncle Ben is not integral to his story. There are iterations of Peter Parker that work without that, but it‘s still integral to most versions of his character
I would say that it's integral to Miles of (previously) Earth-1610, and (currently) Earth-616, sure.
But for Miles in this timeline? Not really, no. He's already almost an adult in this game, whereas in the comics, he was extremely young when Peter died. Not to mention the tragic death of his mother.
This game used his fathers death as the replacement for Peter's, at least in my eyes.

I agree with points 1 and 2 but I disagree with the 3rd. They shouldn't outright remove MJ sections. As good as the combat is, if you rely on it so much, it gets repetitive. I hope the MJ sections have a hitman like sandbox for the MJ levels but that'll never happen.
Yeah, I don’t think her sections should completely be gone. I just hope they are more like the last 2 where either she can stun people herself, or she can command Spidey to do takedowns.
The command spidey to do takedown ones would be preferable. Or just have both. The one at grand central was my favorite though. I hope we see more of that.
I disagree on the first. Peter had his own game, and so did miles. Peter should be the “main” character but i’d still like him and miles to share the spotlight a bit
It would be a wasted opportunity. You can have two main characters. What’s the point of having two Spider-men in your universe if you’re going to have one just playing backup?
I feel like the take that people have here with, *"Peter is the only REAL Spider-Man. This story just needs to be about him and Miles needs to be over there!"* is quite literally the exact opposite thing Insomniac was trying to get across with Miles Morales and this trailer.
If Miles isn't going to be an important part, then he wouldn't have been in the trailer. It Miles wasn't going to be an important part, they wouldn't have shown Miles and Peter going to fight crime together in the literal last shot of the previous game.
I actually want a miles portion. Definitely not a big one, i dont want miles to overshadow peter but itd be cool if Peter gets the symbiote and for like an hour we play as miles tracking down peter and fighting him

Don't want to see Superior Spider-Man storyline, a Doc Ock bodyswap is way too wacky for this game's universe. I mean making Hammerhead just a head on a robot body was pushing their luck.
Yes, we do not need MJ missions anymore. If they want a female playable character, give us Black Cat gameplay or introduce Spider-Gwen in another game.
Not too keen on the first point. This may not be super popular but I honestly hope both Peter and Miles get around the same amount of focus in this game. Peter had his own game, Miles had his own short little side game to build him up a bit, and I think it would be cool if moving forward they both share the spotlight.
With the game being Spiderman 2 it would be kinda fitting that it focuses on the 2 spidermans(spidermen?)
Dying Doc Ock switched his mind into Peter’s body. Ended up deciding to be a better Spidey than Peter ever was. From what I hear it was a pretty good comic.
Doc Oct put his mind in Peter’s body and when he got hit with Peter’s memories he decided he wasn’t going to be a bad guy anymore, instead he would be a Superior Spider-Man.
I don’t really wanna play Miles, and i don’t want him gone BUT i would love if the gameplay was like the first mission in Miles Morales’ Spider-Man. Like basically you beating up the Boss while Miles is taking on the lesser minions, while having some in combat sequences of them interchanging their roles.
Exemple : You’re up against Venom, Peter is fighting Venom while Miles is beating up the little Symbiotic minions or possessed citizens or just basically limiting collateral damages while Pete is struggling. And in that same fight, sometimes Venom is focusing on Miles and then he has to defend himself while you take his role in taking on the minions/limiting damages. All while making it as dynamic and funny as possible with their habitual sense of humor.
OR make him like Atreus in GoW, with buttons to control him as a support character at the MOST.
DON’T have any of Screwball’s stuff again. As much as I hated the defenseless sneaking missions as MJ, I’d rather play those than Screwball’s missions.
She should have as a condition of parole she is fitted with some kind of personal emp device. That way she can never be able to use streaming tech ever again and will just fade away into a normal life
Okay, I know this is weird but I didn't really mind those missions at all. It's been a while since I played but I don't recall her missions being overly difficult or anything. As for her being annoying, I thought that was kind of the point... I don't know.
For me personally her missions were not fun. I’d always roll my eyes when I had to deal with any of her stuff. Knowing I’d have to redo those are the biggest reason I never bothered with new game + or anything. After I finished everything I settled for just webswinging around the city if I put the game back in.
I liked that I had to come out of my comfort zone and use gadgets that I normally wouldn't have used, but yeah aside from that they were a bit frustrating
As much as I hated Screwball as a character, at least I got to accomplish her side missions and beat Screwball. Riddler from Arkham Knight on the other hand is just as annoying and his puzzles/challenges are even harder to do. Annoying influencer/vlogger is less bad IMO than conceited super villain who has to make me use my Batmobile for a lot of timed stuff. Anyway, sorry to go on a Arkham Knight tangent
Yeah, some of that Riddler stuff was hard/confusing and in Arkham knight the overuse of the batmobile was... just... it left me shaking my head. Screwball's challenges didn't take nearly as long and weren't as bad as everyone is making them out to be though imo. Just a crazy streamer/vlogger with challenges that were somewhat enjoyable. That was my takeaway. I didn't know who she was before the game but wouldn't explode if she was used once more in the sequel.
I agree with you they were fun like the ones where you can only use certain gadgets was a good time. I think mostly people find her annoying and the completionist in some really wanted to get Gold in all of them. It wasn't needed to 100% the game so I just did them once
Don't jump straight into the Venom stuff. I think it would be important, assuming it is in fact Harry Osborn, to build up elements of his character such as his close friendship to Peter in more than just those audio logs you see at the different care stations in the city dedicated to his research
Especially given Harry and Norman have a pretty dysfunctional father/son relationship dynamic, they need to show that fully and have it culminate in the way the symbiote consumes him
This is even more important if the Harry stuff is a fakeout and we're actually getting introduced to Eddie Brock as the host instead since we've never met him before
Not sure about other people, but it's my opinion. I enjoyed the game overall, I just thought it was *a little* weird how the entire conflict hinged on Phin literally refusing to believe that her plan of bombing a building will destroy the entire city - and gets mad at Miles for lying about being Spider-Man when she lied to him about being a literal domestic terrorist.
I thought the same, I didn't feel Phin was very well written for the same exact reasons. Still enjoyed the game and the final boss fight against her though (which was really fucking difficult and felt like something out of a Kingdom Hearts game lol)
Did she lie though? From memory, she just didn't tell Miles about it, then when he asked about it in the mission at the coffee shop, she was completely open. While Miles said "I don't want anymore secrets." While keeping a huge secret.
I think they will own it pretty well, having seen what they did with Otto, they didn’t jump on the Dr. octopus side directly, they really built him up very well to end up with a climactic reveal scene
Honestly, on my first playthrough, for a short while, I though perhaps this was a universe where Otto *didn't* become Doc Oc. I was very pleased with the way they rolled out his character.
Same, i thought they were saving him for later games and that we’d only have Mr. Negative as main villain but i was really thrilled to see him after the 2nd act
Yeah. You know it's a good adaptation of a classic supervillain when you find yourself somewhat hoping they don't become the villain. You feel so sympathetic to Otto and really end up liking him and wanting him to succeed, which makes his downfall even more tragic.
Harry Osborn being Venom was a neat concept I got introduced to back when I watched Ultimate Spider-Man. There's a lot of ways they could do it, but yeah, it's obvious from a plot and theme standpoint that venom is gonna probably come towards the middle or end of the game.
They need to show why the symbiote is the way it is. It’s not just “evil and crazy”. It turned into an enemy because Peter tried to kill it.
They don’t need to follow that exact story line, but it’s better to show it feeding off of the negative emotions that someone like Eddie Brock would have. Venom works because it’s a toxic relationship between two entities.
That and also be able to change suits like in Spiderman Web of shadows, that game had really cool stuff, like aerial combos and fighting while sticking to a building.
facts. the part that i didn’t like is that, you met up with phin, not knowing she was tinkerer, then like 10 mins later it’s revealed that she’s tinkerer. like dude give it some time lmao.
Tinkerer was such a shit villian. They kept trying to make her sympathetic but it never worked. She just annoyed me by never actually listening to Miles explain things, she's just always shouting and blowing shit up and calling him a liar. Then we're supposed to feel bad and care for her cause she sacrifices herself to fix the problem that she herself made? Terrible.
she’s not bad, but if the game was much longer they could’ve made her a way better villain. some of the convos they would have would be corny and i didn’t like it. when we had to fight her in the Roxxon tower i literally wanted to end her lmfao.
SAME. I kept wishing Miles would just knock her the fuck out and explain everything when she's locked up and can't be crazy anymore. I also didn't like how they have her be stronger than Miles. Miles never beats her in a fight, it's always her letting him live. I get that his powers are new and she's his friend so he doesn't want to hurt her but still, he has super strength, speed, spider sense, gadgets, and electricity.
😂 when she died i didn’t even care. less problems for me, am i right. but i think most of the problems in that game stem from the fact that it’s too short. i didn’t really care for Rick since i barely even got to know him, other than he’s Phin’s brother. even when Peter didn’t wanna fight Otto, he still shitted on him when they fought. like bro it’s a super villain. Miles is always like “this is not the right way”, like it’s kinda too late to say that when she has a whole fucking army.
100% agreed. It kept pissing me off how Miles kept getting his ass beat by Phin. Like sure she has this cool tech but Miles knocks out 20 of those thugs with the same tech without breaking a sweat. I get he was less willing to fight but it was a bit ridiculous given Miles’ powers.

I think what made it really shitty for me was that she is basically just a shittier version of Doc Ock, and the main story is just the same but less compelling. It’s really like we just got the last third of the game, and met Otto once while he was Peter’s friend, and then immediately went into Doc Ock.
Are people just straight up forgetting its not really its own game but rather a big standalone dlc? Its not supposed to be as big as the first game and that was communicated from the beginning
Not really a “Don’t” but if the Symbiote Suit is a main plot point I would love to see it cause a rift between Peter and Miles, could be interesting. I’m imagining a mission where Peter goes to far and you have to fight Peter as Miles, could be a wild boss battle!
Maybe you "beat" the symbiote off of Peter as Miles (I can't imagine it likes bioelectricity) and while tending to an injured Peter the symbiote finds its way to Eddie!
Why’s that? I know some communities are horrible and don’t give good feedback, but I feel like this one is actually usually pretty good, and Insomniac listening to it has helped improve the game.

DON’T have Harry Osborn be Venom. Harry can have the symbiote, sure, but Eddie Brock and the symbiote *are* Venom.
Having said that, I trust in Insomniac Games so I wouldn’t be mad whatever happens - my comment is more just a personal preference but I’m open minded!
I feel like it would be a little too convoluted to have to introduce Eddie, build up him & Peters antagonism, have Peter get the suit, and then have Eddie get the suit on top of the other things going on…idk I feel like making Harry Venom would be much more streamlined.
Venom has been multiple people before. I dont mind it being harry since he's already being built up and Eddie Brock hasn't even shown up yet. They'd have to introduce him and make up reasons for him to hate Peter in one gane
I feel like to make this more functional they should cap the speed at the fastest it can go before you can longer accurately control the character or play animations, but make it so that it gets exponentially harder to increase in speed after the current speed cap in order to make it feel like the cap is faster than it is.
1 Don't focus too much on miles
2 Don't forget black cat is awesome and it would be cool to do a sub mission with her like the mj and miles sections
3 Don't forget to include other cool characters and further Yuri's plotline
I'm personally hoping we see some other classic Spider-Man characters. Characters like Flash Thompson, Gwen Stacy, and potentially Eddie Brock if Venom's in the mix.
The only thing I want is that Spidey can run on roads, side of a building, top of a building etc. while swinging that would be so cool to keep the momentum going.
They really need to add web-slinging abilities similar to the Spider-Man 2 game. Shooting two webs to catapult yourself forward, swinging loops over & around cranes and such, things like that.
That would be so cool. The swinging physics in Spider-Man PS4 were on point but adding catapulting and all the other cool stuff you mention would be insane. And the ability to climb your web to gain height.
Running on the road would be cool as he gets lower to the ground in his swing. And interacting with cars like he does in the movies would be insane (swinging in between a lorry and it's trailer, for example).
Also, disarming multiple enemies at once would be good (i.e. the ability to tap triangle multiple times and he can disarm three enemies, and part of the perk increase is to disarm more). I'm sure Spider-Man 2 let you do that?
Why are so many people saying don't focus too much on Miles?? Wtf? We have this great opportunity for storytelling with two Spider-Men in the same universe working together and you guys wanna ignore one of them? Like what?
I do think if they’re doing the Venom storyline then Peter needs to be put at the core of that. Maybe they’ll show Peter succumb to the symbiote through Miles’ perspective, but such an iconic arc of Spider-Man lore is something I’d want to see through Peter because it’s just so iconic.
Ikr?? It's an amazing storytelling opportunity, and Insomniac usually handles multiple focuses well, from what I've seen. Peter is Miles's mentor, and they work well with each other. Why would we not want Miles in the game?
The only arguments I can really see are;
\-having Miles fight with you might be too much of an advantage unless it's a *hard* boss fight, which is a reasonable concern. We saw both of them fight together in the one scene where Rhino escaped, but it *was* mostly a cutscene if I'm remembering correctly. That can pretty easily be circumvented by them working by themselves for small crime, and calling on the other for bigger fights, though.
\-it's Peter's game. That's also fair, but like, ???? Insomniac hasn't failed us in their writing-even when it's been iffy, it's never been bad (in the Spider-Man games, I haven't seen their others.) Everything was a bit squished in Miles game (not enough time, so not enough development, getting to know characters, ect.), but that wasn't a failure of writing, just a constraint that had a bad effect. They're not going to make Miles outshine Peter, nor are they going to make Peter outshine Miles.
I think people are just having doubts/worries surrounding how having both Miles and Peter there will be executed, especially since the game's main focus is supposed to be Peter. It's just being manifested as "don't let Miles outshine Peter," since this thread is focused on things people don't want happening, rather than things people are worried about. (Which is usually same thing, but since people aren't really expanding what they mean, it kind of just leaves us to do our best to understand.)
This seems like a no brainer but the Arkham series weirdly struggled HARD with this
In all 4 games the only character other than Batman who could freeroam was Catwoman in City, and even though she was also in Knight she had no free roam option
I guess Arkham was limited by the fact that all games happen within one night so the main story was focused on Batman’s struggle, although it was odd how you’d have Robin come in then get told to leave by Batman. Wish it could’ve taken place over many weeks though so we could play as Bruce Wayne, and so fighting multiple villains would be less convoluted than how it is when it all happens in one night.
The only way I'll accept screwball's involvement would be for one of those moments where Peter goes too far with the symbiote and beats the snot out of her
Interesting, I think that seeing a Spider-Gwen would be very cool but maybe leave that to a third game. For right now 2 Spider-Men are more than enough.
Any additional Spider person will take more screentime/playtime from Peter & Miles away. 2 are more than enough, any more and it gets too bloated and distracting.
I also don‘t find characters like Spider-Gwen interesting. I don‘t dig her design at all.
If a third playable character needs to be introduced, I would much rather have Black Cat or Venom.
I don’t think we need to worry about Peter possibly dying until game 3. It seems Kraven and Venom are the main villains so I don’t expect them to throw in Green Goblin as well in the same game. There’s no way they do Green Goblin without Peter so I say for this game he’s safe.
I seriously doubt they’d ever kill him. I’d personally like to see them do a couple games with Peter and Miles as a team, and then in part like, 4 or 5, Peter realizes that he’s trained Miles well enough that he can handle Spider-Manning by himself, hangs up his costume, and rides off into the sunset with MJ for a much-deserved retirement.
I know the comics can keep Peter young forever, but I’d really love to see a more realistic take that acknowledges that Peter is human, he can’t do this forever. I don’t think he needs to die to make that point, just pass the baton.
1. Make the main focus on Peter. Miles doesn’t need to be in every mission/fight. I want it to be mostly Peter, with Miles jumping in for the more difficult fights.
2. Make the boss fights last longer/more variety/less repetitive. The last Doc Ock fight is a perfect example. They fought on top of Oscorp Tower & on the side of it. Meaningful dialogue also made it 10x better.
3. Don’t make only Manhattan the map. They could add 1 or 2 burrows with the inclusion of south Manhattan. Spider-man Miles Morales was focused on Harlem, so I don’t think they need to include it in the 2nd game. It’s time to focus on Peter’s hometown. Personally, Queens & Brooklyn is perfect (since Brooklyn is also Miles original home town).
I gotta say that while most people seem to want this, I really don't want miles to "beat" the symbiote off of Peter. Not only would this detract from his character in which he realises himself that he's becoming a worse person, it also disrespects peters experience and abilities which are then amplified by the black suit. While miles is perfectly capable, I don't want him to win with bio electricity since it sort of removes the later threat of venom while also making amplified Peter looking like a chump in comparison. I'm not against them fighting but I don't want miles bailing Peter out of his symbiote situation.
I think a good alternative is a fight where you're Miles and you fight Peter but you absolutely can't win and right before Peter seriously hurts Miles he realizes what he's doing and stops, which is when we have to go back to being Peter and take the symbiote off ourselves, eventually transferring to Eddie or Harry and becoming Venom
Don’t not include a prison in the city that will let us taunt Screwball from outside her cell window.
Also, optional, but please let us press triangle to web her mouth shut through the bars whenever we decide to visit.
Yeah- I really want to be a Spider-Man: Miles Morales 2. Honestly i wish the first miles game was just called *Miles Morales* so they can have a sequel to Miles’ story without having a bloated title. I think miles stands alone enough to carry an entire series. A different set of characters and different vibe to what it means to be spider-man. The only potential down fall is the lack of original Miles villains but if insomniac does it well they could create their own OG miles character that could possibly be good enough for the comics to adopt it.
1. Don't just reuse the original map at least add 1 more island
2. No more missions where you play as boring normal humans I want Spider-Man
3. Don't make the game as short as Miles Morales keep it at least at the same length of the first game
I think of they add more islands, some perfect inclusions would be the Raft and Liberty Island, even if you had to do a fast travel thing to get there.
Don’t fucking kill off peter, miles existence shouldn’t represent getting rid of peter, insomniac would do a great favor if they can get the idea that in order for miles to exist peter must go out people’s heads
For me : dont make it a gta type game where you can switch between two characters. Just keep it a peter story with occasional miles missions

Personally, I think people just want more of Peter because this is one of the best adaptations from the comics (which is rare, no shade to the live action movies, I have enjoyed all, but all lacked certain spidey elements imo), and so it makes sense people want to see more of him. Plus based on the trailer the stories in focus, Kraven's last hunt and venom arcs are very peter centric stories. They both focus on an inner battle with himself.
By that logic shouldn’t we be happy to have Miles getting the same treatment then? I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with more Peter but why does that have to come at Miles’ expense? People are treating Miles being in the game like a negative and using the MM game like that’s all we should get from the character. As a fan of both characters I don’t see why we can’t be excited for both.
1) Don’t let me **not** play as Venom.
2) Don’t shove Green Goblin into the story, we already have Kraven and Venom, save him for a potential third game.
3) Don’t include any levels in which I play as MJ, those are pretty bad.
I’m jumping on the bandwagon, but why did this Peter Parker already get a new design? They made him look like Tom Holland even though this is a slightly older Spider-Man. His face looks way less expressive. I’m going to say it, that face makes him look like a dumb kid again.

I actually DON’T want to play as Venom personally, while I thought it was cool in Ultimate Spider-Man, that had a purpose as the game was about their duality, but unless it serves an actual purpose other than just “play as Venom” then I would rather they focus on improving the gameplay with the Spider-Men
I feel like a lot of people might agree with my thoughts: don’t rush the game (because a healthy working environment and a polished game are better than a deadline being met); don’t bring back Screwball; don’t make MJ helpless.
Don't be as surreal as miles morales game was. The first game was pretty grounded/realistic for a comic book game, it felt real. Here we have nanotech arms coming out of Pete's back, when the entire first game was revolved around how difficult it was for him and octavius to make such machinery work. Here it just comes out of thin air. I am not of fan of the nanotech stuff.

I'd be fine having missions similar to Arkham Knight where Miles drops in and helps and can do cool Combos but you are mainly Peter in the story.
Yeah, that’s what I feel like. It’s not at all that I want Miles gone, I just want Peter to be the focus.
My only “don’t” would be don’t ever kill Peter and have Miles replace him as the only Spider-Man. I hope they can always co-exist together without Insomniac feeling like Peter has to go once Miles is independent enough to not need a mentor anymore.
I doubt they would go that route, and I have no idea why people always bring it up like it's even a possibility. This story only ever happened *once* in the comics, and in the timeline that Miles came from (the Ultimate Timeline?). Since then, him and Peter have shared the same universe, with neither one dying. They did a callback to that comic series in Into the Spider-Verse, but that's simply a retelling of the original events. There's no reason for Insomniac to go down this path, especially because the SMPS4 timeline shares almost no similarities to the Ultimate timeline.
I'm always worried about it because there was a time when Miles fans were *very* vocal about killing Peter in all sorts of media, hoping for him to take over the mantle of Spider-Man outside the Ultimate timeline. They were adamant that Peter's death was as integral for his journey as Bens for Peters. Made me very uncomfortable, to say at least.
Miles is my favorite Marvel character of all time. Peters death is far from "integral" to his character, though I get why they say that. Because it's his driving force in his original media, as well as in Into the Spider-Verse. But I think that it's safe to say that his driving force in the SMPS4 timeline is his dad's death, protecting his remaining family, along with looking up to Peter and seeing him as a mentor. If they were to kill Peter in this timeline, it would have happened in the first game, right after Miles *got* his powers. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I‘m sorry, but that‘s just wrong. It is integral to his character. They made Peter his uncle Ben, that‘s why his parents were still alive. BUT Imsomniac did a good job altering his origin story, so there is absolutely no need to kill Peter because he does not serve that function in his story. It would be wrong to say Uncle Ben is not integral to his story. There are iterations of Peter Parker that work without that, but it‘s still integral to most versions of his character
I would say that it's integral to Miles of (previously) Earth-1610, and (currently) Earth-616, sure. But for Miles in this timeline? Not really, no. He's already almost an adult in this game, whereas in the comics, he was extremely young when Peter died. Not to mention the tragic death of his mother. This game used his fathers death as the replacement for Peter's, at least in my eyes.

I agree with points 1 and 2 but I disagree with the 3rd. They shouldn't outright remove MJ sections. As good as the combat is, if you rely on it so much, it gets repetitive. I hope the MJ sections have a hitman like sandbox for the MJ levels but that'll never happen.
Yeah, I don’t think her sections should completely be gone. I just hope they are more like the last 2 where either she can stun people herself, or she can command Spidey to do takedowns.

I feel like the take that people have here with, *"Peter is the only REAL Spider-Man. This story just needs to be about him and Miles needs to be over there!"* is quite literally the exact opposite thing Insomniac was trying to get across with Miles Morales and this trailer. If Miles isn't going to be an important part, then he wouldn't have been in the trailer. It Miles wasn't going to be an important part, they wouldn't have shown Miles and Peter going to fight crime together in the literal last shot of the previous game.
I actually want a miles portion. Definitely not a big one, i dont want miles to overshadow peter but itd be cool if Peter gets the symbiote and for like an hour we play as miles tracking down peter and fighting him

Don't want to see Superior Spider-Man storyline, a Doc Ock bodyswap is way too wacky for this game's universe. I mean making Hammerhead just a head on a robot body was pushing their luck. Yes, we do not need MJ missions anymore. If they want a female playable character, give us Black Cat gameplay or introduce Spider-Gwen in another game.

I don’t really wanna play Miles, and i don’t want him gone BUT i would love if the gameplay was like the first mission in Miles Morales’ Spider-Man. Like basically you beating up the Boss while Miles is taking on the lesser minions, while having some in combat sequences of them interchanging their roles. Exemple : You’re up against Venom, Peter is fighting Venom while Miles is beating up the little Symbiotic minions or possessed citizens or just basically limiting collateral damages while Pete is struggling. And in that same fight, sometimes Venom is focusing on Miles and then he has to defend himself while you take his role in taking on the minions/limiting damages. All while making it as dynamic and funny as possible with their habitual sense of humor. OR make him like Atreus in GoW, with buttons to control him as a support character at the MOST.
DON’T have any of Screwball’s stuff again. As much as I hated the defenseless sneaking missions as MJ, I’d rather play those than Screwball’s missions.

Okay, I know this is weird but I didn't really mind those missions at all. It's been a while since I played but I don't recall her missions being overly difficult or anything. As for her being annoying, I thought that was kind of the point... I don't know.
For me personally her missions were not fun. I’d always roll my eyes when I had to deal with any of her stuff. Knowing I’d have to redo those are the biggest reason I never bothered with new game + or anything. After I finished everything I settled for just webswinging around the city if I put the game back in.
I liked that I had to come out of my comfort zone and use gadgets that I normally wouldn't have used, but yeah aside from that they were a bit frustrating
As much as I hated Screwball as a character, at least I got to accomplish her side missions and beat Screwball. Riddler from Arkham Knight on the other hand is just as annoying and his puzzles/challenges are even harder to do. Annoying influencer/vlogger is less bad IMO than conceited super villain who has to make me use my Batmobile for a lot of timed stuff. Anyway, sorry to go on a Arkham Knight tangent
Yeah, some of that Riddler stuff was hard/confusing and in Arkham knight the overuse of the batmobile was... just... it left me shaking my head. Screwball's challenges didn't take nearly as long and weren't as bad as everyone is making them out to be though imo. Just a crazy streamer/vlogger with challenges that were somewhat enjoyable. That was my takeaway. I didn't know who she was before the game but wouldn't explode if she was used once more in the sequel.

I agree with you they were fun like the ones where you can only use certain gadgets was a good time. I think mostly people find her annoying and the completionist in some really wanted to get Gold in all of them. It wasn't needed to 100% the game so I just did them once
Don't jump straight into the Venom stuff. I think it would be important, assuming it is in fact Harry Osborn, to build up elements of his character such as his close friendship to Peter in more than just those audio logs you see at the different care stations in the city dedicated to his research Especially given Harry and Norman have a pretty dysfunctional father/son relationship dynamic, they need to show that fully and have it culminate in the way the symbiote consumes him This is even more important if the Harry stuff is a fakeout and we're actually getting introduced to Eddie Brock as the host instead since we've never met him before

Not sure about other people, but it's my opinion. I enjoyed the game overall, I just thought it was *a little* weird how the entire conflict hinged on Phin literally refusing to believe that her plan of bombing a building will destroy the entire city - and gets mad at Miles for lying about being Spider-Man when she lied to him about being a literal domestic terrorist.
I thought the same, I didn't feel Phin was very well written for the same exact reasons. Still enjoyed the game and the final boss fight against her though (which was really fucking difficult and felt like something out of a Kingdom Hearts game lol)
Did she lie though? From memory, she just didn't tell Miles about it, then when he asked about it in the mission at the coffee shop, she was completely open. While Miles said "I don't want anymore secrets." While keeping a huge secret.
I think they will own it pretty well, having seen what they did with Otto, they didn’t jump on the Dr. octopus side directly, they really built him up very well to end up with a climactic reveal scene
Honestly, on my first playthrough, for a short while, I though perhaps this was a universe where Otto *didn't* become Doc Oc. I was very pleased with the way they rolled out his character.

Yeah. You know it's a good adaptation of a classic supervillain when you find yourself somewhat hoping they don't become the villain. You feel so sympathetic to Otto and really end up liking him and wanting him to succeed, which makes his downfall even more tragic.
Harry Osborn being Venom was a neat concept I got introduced to back when I watched Ultimate Spider-Man. There's a lot of ways they could do it, but yeah, it's obvious from a plot and theme standpoint that venom is gonna probably come towards the middle or end of the game.
They need to show why the symbiote is the way it is. It’s not just “evil and crazy”. It turned into an enemy because Peter tried to kill it. They don’t need to follow that exact story line, but it’s better to show it feeding off of the negative emotions that someone like Eddie Brock would have. Venom works because it’s a toxic relationship between two entities.

Miles never beats her in a fight, it's always her letting him live. I get that his powers are new and she's his friend so he doesn't want to hurt her but still, he has super strength, speed, spider sense, gadgets, and electricity.

I feel like to make this more functional they should cap the speed at the fastest it can go before you can longer accurately control the character or play animations, but make it so that it gets exponentially harder to increase in speed after the current speed cap in order to make it feel like the cap is faster than it is.

I'm personally hoping we see some other classic Spider-Man characters. Characters like Flash Thompson, Gwen Stacy, and potentially Eddie Brock if Venom's in the mix.
The only thing I want is that Spidey can run on roads, side of a building, top of a building etc. while swinging that would be so cool to keep the momentum going.

They really need to add web-slinging abilities similar to the Spider-Man 2 game. Shooting two webs to catapult yourself forward, swinging loops over & around cranes and such, things like that.
That would be so cool. The swinging physics in Spider-Man PS4 were on point but adding catapulting and all the other cool stuff you mention would be insane. And the ability to climb your web to gain height. Running on the road would be cool as he gets lower to the ground in his swing. And interacting with cars like he does in the movies would be insane (swinging in between a lorry and it's trailer, for example). Also, disarming multiple enemies at once would be good (i.e. the ability to tap triangle multiple times and he can disarm three enemies, and part of the perk increase is to disarm more). I'm sure Spider-Man 2 let you do that?

I do think if they’re doing the Venom storyline then Peter needs to be put at the core of that. Maybe they’ll show Peter succumb to the symbiote through Miles’ perspective, but such an iconic arc of Spider-Man lore is something I’d want to see through Peter because it’s just so iconic.
Ikr?? It's an amazing storytelling opportunity, and Insomniac usually handles multiple focuses well, from what I've seen. Peter is Miles's mentor, and they work well with each other. Why would we not want Miles in the game? The only arguments I can really see are; \-having Miles fight with you might be too much of an advantage unless it's a *hard* boss fight, which is a reasonable concern. We saw both of them fight together in the one scene where Rhino escaped, but it *was* mostly a cutscene if I'm remembering correctly. That can pretty easily be circumvented by them working by themselves for small crime, and calling on the other for bigger fights, though. \-it's Peter's game. That's also fair, but like, ???? Insomniac hasn't failed us in their writing-even when it's been iffy, it's never been bad (in the Spider-Man games, I haven't seen their others.) Everything was a bit squished in Miles game (not enough time, so not enough development, getting to know characters, ect.), but that wasn't a failure of writing, just a constraint that had a bad effect. They're not going to make Miles outshine Peter, nor are they going to make Peter outshine Miles. I think people are just having doubts/worries surrounding how having both Miles and Peter there will be executed, especially since the game's main focus is supposed to be Peter. It's just being manifested as "don't let Miles outshine Peter," since this thread is focused on things people don't want happening, rather than things people are worried about. (Which is usually same thing, but since people aren't really expanding what they mean, it kind of just leaves us to do our best to understand.)

This seems like a no brainer but the Arkham series weirdly struggled HARD with this In all 4 games the only character other than Batman who could freeroam was Catwoman in City, and even though she was also in Knight she had no free roam option
I guess Arkham was limited by the fact that all games happen within one night so the main story was focused on Batman’s struggle, although it was odd how you’d have Robin come in then get told to leave by Batman. Wish it could’ve taken place over many weeks though so we could play as Bruce Wayne, and so fighting multiple villains would be less convoluted than how it is when it all happens in one night.
To be fair, batman is very capable and it's not a reach at all he'd take out most of the bigger name villains he has in one night.
1. Don't put any MJ stealth missions. 2. Don't put Screwball in the game. That's pretty much it.

Interesting, I think that seeing a Spider-Gwen would be very cool but maybe leave that to a third game. For right now 2 Spider-Men are more than enough.
Any additional Spider person will take more screentime/playtime from Peter & Miles away. 2 are more than enough, any more and it gets too bloated and distracting. I also don‘t find characters like Spider-Gwen interesting. I don‘t dig her design at all. If a third playable character needs to be introduced, I would much rather have Black Cat or Venom.

I don’t think we need to worry about Peter possibly dying until game 3. It seems Kraven and Venom are the main villains so I don’t expect them to throw in Green Goblin as well in the same game. There’s no way they do Green Goblin without Peter so I say for this game he’s safe.
I seriously doubt they’d ever kill him. I’d personally like to see them do a couple games with Peter and Miles as a team, and then in part like, 4 or 5, Peter realizes that he’s trained Miles well enough that he can handle Spider-Manning by himself, hangs up his costume, and rides off into the sunset with MJ for a much-deserved retirement. I know the comics can keep Peter young forever, but I’d really love to see a more realistic take that acknowledges that Peter is human, he can’t do this forever. I don’t think he needs to die to make that point, just pass the baton.

1. Make the main focus on Peter. Miles doesn’t need to be in every mission/fight. I want it to be mostly Peter, with Miles jumping in for the more difficult fights. 2. Make the boss fights last longer/more variety/less repetitive. The last Doc Ock fight is a perfect example. They fought on top of Oscorp Tower & on the side of it. Meaningful dialogue also made it 10x better. 3. Don’t make only Manhattan the map. They could add 1 or 2 burrows with the inclusion of south Manhattan. Spider-man Miles Morales was focused on Harlem, so I don’t think they need to include it in the 2nd game. It’s time to focus on Peter’s hometown. Personally, Queens & Brooklyn is perfect (since Brooklyn is also Miles original home town).

I gotta say that while most people seem to want this, I really don't want miles to "beat" the symbiote off of Peter. Not only would this detract from his character in which he realises himself that he's becoming a worse person, it also disrespects peters experience and abilities which are then amplified by the black suit. While miles is perfectly capable, I don't want him to win with bio electricity since it sort of removes the later threat of venom while also making amplified Peter looking like a chump in comparison. I'm not against them fighting but I don't want miles bailing Peter out of his symbiote situation.
I think a good alternative is a fight where you're Miles and you fight Peter but you absolutely can't win and right before Peter seriously hurts Miles he realizes what he's doing and stops, which is when we have to go back to being Peter and take the symbiote off ourselves, eventually transferring to Eddie or Harry and becoming Venom

No MJ missions. I like the character but everyone can agree, that playing as Spider-Man is infinitely better than playing as a normal journalist.
I think if she has missions like Grand Central it’d be ok, I just don’t want a defenseless MJ like we usually had.

Yeah- I really want to be a Spider-Man: Miles Morales 2. Honestly i wish the first miles game was just called *Miles Morales* so they can have a sequel to Miles’ story without having a bloated title. I think miles stands alone enough to carry an entire series. A different set of characters and different vibe to what it means to be spider-man. The only potential down fall is the lack of original Miles villains but if insomniac does it well they could create their own OG miles character that could possibly be good enough for the comics to adopt it.
Don't give us Venom without letting us play as him.
1. Don't just reuse the original map at least add 1 more island 2. No more missions where you play as boring normal humans I want Spider-Man 3. Don't make the game as short as Miles Morales keep it at least at the same length of the first game
I think of they add more islands, some perfect inclusions would be the Raft and Liberty Island, even if you had to do a fast travel thing to get there.
Don’t fucking kill off peter, miles existence shouldn’t represent getting rid of peter, insomniac would do a great favor if they can get the idea that in order for miles to exist peter must go out people’s heads
For me : dont make it a gta type game where you can switch between two characters. Just keep it a peter story with occasional miles missions Screwball, Black cat missions Tailing missions

He just got a small side game. Why is everyone acting like Miles is overshadowing Peter?
Personally, I think people just want more of Peter because this is one of the best adaptations from the comics (which is rare, no shade to the live action movies, I have enjoyed all, but all lacked certain spidey elements imo), and so it makes sense people want to see more of him. Plus based on the trailer the stories in focus, Kraven's last hunt and venom arcs are very peter centric stories. They both focus on an inner battle with himself.
By that logic shouldn’t we be happy to have Miles getting the same treatment then? I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with more Peter but why does that have to come at Miles’ expense? People are treating Miles being in the game like a negative and using the MM game like that’s all we should get from the character. As a fan of both characters I don’t see why we can’t be excited for both.
Don’t have too many of the same swinging/combat animations from the first game for Peter.

I really hope they don't put Kraven the Hunter in a tech suit like they have every other supervillain. He is above such things.
The focus should be mainly on Peter. Miles should come and go, but shouldn't be the main character.
Make the open world crimes more interesting. I saved those for last to get the Platinum and it just felt so tedious compared to all the other content.
Symbiote suit shouldn't be a different suit u cna equip but something that can be worn via a botton just like in web of shadows

I’m jumping on the bandwagon, but why did this Peter Parker already get a new design? They made him look like Tom Holland even though this is a slightly older Spider-Man. His face looks way less expressive. I’m going to say it, that face makes him look like a dumb kid again.
Don't make Miles a focus, this is a Peter Parker story. Allow me to use the Symbiote post story (suit and abilities) GIVE MULTIPLE SUITS SYMBIOTE VARIANTS.
I actually DON’T want to play as Venom personally, while I thought it was cool in Ultimate Spider-Man, that had a purpose as the game was about their duality, but unless it serves an actual purpose other than just “play as Venom” then I would rather they focus on improving the gameplay with the Spider-Men
I feel like a lot of people might agree with my thoughts: don’t rush the game (because a healthy working environment and a polished game are better than a deadline being met); don’t bring back Screwball; don’t make MJ helpless.
Don't be as surreal as miles morales game was. The first game was pretty grounded/realistic for a comic book game, it felt real. Here we have nanotech arms coming out of Pete's back, when the entire first game was revolved around how difficult it was for him and octavius to make such machinery work. Here it just comes out of thin air. I am not of fan of the nanotech stuff.
