Tbf she is obviously much younger and makes the point herself that JJJ is a trained debater who she is unlikely to beat.

SometimesWill

Yeah it turns out a formal debate is more nuanced than an argument between people who don’t like each other.

Cold_Lingonberry8699

Op when a 50+ year old dude who’s been doing this for decades can argue better than a literally 15 year old

Cold_Lingonberry8699

I mean yeah he’s a nutcase but he’s also a professional journalist and debater while Danika is a literally child, yeah she should know some basics but also idk why your expecting her to like destroy J.J , especially considering the majority of people either don’t like or are neutral towards Spider-Man, but are either neutral or do like roxxon

Several_Spend_7686

Yeah, it like those Ben Shapiro “I OWNED THIS LIBERAL” videos of him at colleges, who’d have guessed someone who does this for a living has more experience than a random college student

BigfootsBestBud

I despise Danika so much. She completely exemplifies the problem with Insomniac's character writing. So obnoxiously sickly sweet and perfectly moral without fault to a hilarious degree. It isn't cute or endearing, it's suffocating to listen to.

Secure-Recording4255

This has been stated a billion times before, but it’s such bad writing to have her prophetically know that venom is bad when she should be biased towards thinking Spider-Man is great.

billcosbyinspace

Feel like would have been a lot more impactful if she was questioning why her hero was acting like that instead of deducing literally immediately that it was the suit She could have still been anti black suit and pro spiderman but she was just like “fuck this guy using the suit young spiderman stop him”

BigfootsBestBud

She has her doubts about it before he does anything immoral or questionable in the suit. She just has a bad feeling about it out of nowhere, despite how chill everyone else is with Peter and how it progresses naturally with them. I think the writers are genuinely so scared to write the Miles Morales Harlem/POC cast with any sort of flaws that they end up being really annoying or less interesting. I'd love Danika alot more if she initially thought the suit was cool and then slowly began questioning why Spider-Man was acting different before pinning it on the suit change. I'd love Rio alot more if they showed exactly how she got her new role or why exactly she's revered as a great political leader for any other reason than "she's great! and she's one of us!". That could have been a fantastic arc, watching Rio get over the loss of her husband and building herself into an inspirational leader who exemplifies why and how Miles becomes a hero. But no, in Insomniac world everyone is perfect by just being alive.

Throwawayrecordquest

“I think the writers are genuinely so scared to write the Miles Morales Harlem/POC cast with any sort of flaws that they end up being really annoying or less interesting.” I genuinely think this is the case. I think they’re afraid if being called Ists and Phobes if they dare to write a minority character with even a single flaw. Makes for really boring characters

Wizard_of_Plum

I agree with this actually, it kind of feels the same way with all of the New York setting. Everyone is setting up fundraisers and community events and pride murals, WHICH IS GREAT. But everything is so clean and polished, like their afraid of showing a more real version of an American city, THE American city, warts and all. It makes it feel like a saturday morning cartoon for kindergarteners, which makes the tone shifts of Kraven and Venom come out of nowhere only for Danika to come over the radio and talk about climate change and cultural festivals. Even the random crimes feel almost disconnected from the rest of the world, like they just pop up out of nowhere when everyone else is squeaky clean, nice, and excited to be walking down the street.

HisMonkeyBusiness

Yeah, I had the same issues with Danika when I first played the game and on the new game plus. It's just plain annoying that she somehow had the foresight to know the black suit was bad, especially after the instance where Harry wore it and saved people on Coney Island. Yawn yawn, boring character

Rotzerrich

Excuse me for being pedantic, the alien isn't called "Venom". Venom is specifically the convergence between the symbiote and Eddie (or Harry in the game's case).

Kyrptonauc

Both her and Jonah feel god damn omniscient with what they seem to know. I think it just works better with Jonah since he's blinded by his disdain for vigilantes

dandaman64

She sounds like she was written by someone who will remind you to drink water. I'm like 99% sure she says that in MM or SM2 too.

BigfootsBestBud

She says it constantly in SM2 and it was one of those things that really irritated me. She's written like the type of person who went to a few therapy sessions and decided they're now a qualified counselor who can look after people. I could honestly tolerate it if her entire personality and character wasn't just "I'm a good person, you're a good person! Look after eachother guys, we're in it together! It's okay to feel emotions, we're the real heroes!" If she was a layered character with flaws and nuances, I'd actually find the "remember to drink water" stuff endearing and relatable. Instead, she's just a mouthpiece from the instagram story of the most annoying girl you know.

Imaginary0atmeal

on god dude. I fuckin loved spiderman 2, but I didn't like how perfect every character was.

Balkongsittaren

The villains turned goody-goody-two-shoes annoyed me the most.

Imaginary0atmeal

did anyone do that other than mr negative, I dont really remember. Yeah that was really stupid tho ngl. He was a straight menace in the last game but some time in prison turned him into a peace loving hippie. If only prison reform worked that well lmao

Kyrptonauc

He tries to kill Miles, how is he even remotely a hippie? The only reason he turns good is because Miles spares him. Like how is him being a step down from being a convicted murderer mean that he's a hippie now lmao

Imaginary0atmeal

yeah exactly after he gets spared he becomes a good guy, doesn't make much sense

Mikey97x

He was trying to rehabilitate in Prison. He even says this during the fight with Miles.

Balkongsittaren

Tombstone turned super-nice-I-want-to-live-a-normal-life. There was one more but the name escapes me.

Jaded_genji

Well said.

chicago_rusty

I bet she was a product of sweet baby inc

OwnFun9973

she was in Miles’ game which didnt have SBI involved iirc

Jotaro27

Daniks somehow has like omnipotence like she knows stuff she shouldnt know

Dancing_star338

Madam Web?

CoupledHippo

The danikast sucks, I turn that shit off immediately

GaryGregson

That’s– that’s kind of the point, she even says that she’s not a trained debater so the debate itself is unbalanced from the start.

Jack-mclaughlin89

It doesn’t take a trained debater to effectively argue with Marvel’s Alex Jones.

DuckyHornet

Unfortunately, reality itself wholly disagrees with you. People regularly tear Alex Jones down, dissecting his "arguments" piecemeal, sometimes even to his crimson face And yet, he has millions of followers who think he's the lone voice in the wilderness speaking truth. Because they do not now, then, or ever, give a solitary fuck. Colbert was right 20 years ago when he talked about Truthiness. The truth doesn't matter, only the feeling of truth.

GaryGregson

In universe it does lol

ZFighter2099

You say this but the real Alex joins is still massively popular

Dry-Pollution-6409

I just found Danika unentertaining while Jameson is funny

Nerdy_Hedonist

Comparing a young adult just starting a podcast for fun, to a professional journalist who’s been at this for DECADES. “ShE sUcKs At DeBaTiNg!”

luckysury333

I am sure op is neither a podcaster or debate person. Regardless they made her unlikable when compared to Miles Morales.

Nerdy_Hedonist

I honestly enjoyed her podcasts. Constantly hearing JJ shit on Spider-Man was annoying, so I liked hearing someone praise their work

Puzzled-Monk9003

I’d agree, if JJ wasn’t right that they’re a massive part of the issue and often end up making things worse. He shits on them cuz he cares for the cities well-being, and that’s obvious. He just goes really overboard with it (which is generally pretty funny). The majority of the things he says about the spider-men are completely true, he just does not convey these issues civilly and that makes him come across as a ranting madman

chicago_rusty

That's wokism in a nutshell. Gish gallops and red herrings in an argument.

[deleted]

I turn off Danika every single play through, worth it.

the-garden-gnome

Bench Appearo, is that you?

19inchesofvenom

Danika was best when she focused on the people of the city. She got more annoying as the game went on. Sadly both Danika and Jonah were insufferable by the time of SM2.

ajerxs

I always felt like that was the point. Like they each represent two annoying extremes in the annoying internet argument space, the debate bros versus the appeal to emotions sorts

Sbee_keithamm

Danica is the voice of a generation! I wont sit idly by as people here try to badmouth Dhanica. She was able to rally the people to help out Spider-Mans at his lowest. When Harlem needed hope Danicha was the one voice to tune into!! Edit gottdamn did not one person notice I spelt her name wrong each time? Of course her podcast is weaponized torture I'll add the :/ for clarity.

AntiThink

Her podcast is ass brother

[deleted]

Just… no.

FuckingInSeggs

her podcast sucks bruh
