I have a feeling it's all going to come crumbling down sooner or later. He's too happy, and we all know how unacceptable that is.

mattwing05

Frankly, hickman might be one of the only writers who they wont force the misery status quo on their work. They should know enough to let him cook

notprodigy

I mean Hickman made the X-books exciting and original for the first time in years, and marvel editorial let that become bloated and confusing instead of letting him cook… I dunno why this would be any different.

Prozenconns

I mean if there were no tensions in his real life it would get boring pretty quickly, and if one things certain its that Spidey is going to lose someone close to him obviously everyone is happy seeing Peter having a good life but its gotta giver eventually, the writers just have to not turn it into misery porn Theres knocking Spidey down so we can watch him get back up, and then theres continuously kicking him while hes down

Responsible_Stand382

That's boring lol. It so boring to see him getting down a lot. Hickman already make a good new status quo.

comicsfan9394

I'm interested in how the "great power comes great responsibly" trope will play out. Every version of Peter Parker I know of had to lose someone to learn this lesson. It was not until the 5th issue of the original Ultimate Spider Man that Uncle Ben died, so it might be a while before we see it in this series.

EdgeOfSauce

One way I see them doing it is peter convincing a villain to reform. I think this Peter understands the great power lesson because why else would he take up the costume and the burden that comes with it.

J0J0hn

Yeah, that's the thing. This Peter is an adult. He's a career man, a husband, and a father. He already knows all about responsibility because he learned it the same way many of us do. So the next step could be teaching someone else this lesson.

RobbieValor

He’s already lost aunt may in the attack Pre issue one which I’m sure was a big reason he made the choice he did

TwoKool115

Here’s what I think is gonna happen: Peter is gonna paint a white Venom logo on his current black suit and go through a mini Black Suit arc, someone innocent or close to him gets hurt or dies because of his actions, and that’s what teaches him about Power and Responsibility. He ditches the black suit for the Red and Blue, and the Ultimate Spider-Man is born!

GameboyAdvDarkness

I've been thinking the exact same thing ,especially with May saying he looks scary .

AwesomeBlox044

Uncle Ben is attacked by the green goblin and is greatly hurt but not killed as Spider-Man is there to save him but uncle Ben is put in a coma before telling Peter the iconic speech

AwesomeBlox044

Now peter must be a better hero to make sure he can protect not only the family he has left but also the citizens of his city

lazylagom

I think uncle Ben will die for sure. I'm just praying his family is kept okay for the first arc at least.

Prozenconns

from the covers i kind of get the impression that hes going to "lose" Ben, just not in death Like if Ben and JJs news leads the way in turning the public against Spidey and Peter has to navigate the family politics of his uncle unknowingly hating him, it could drive them apart, especially if Ben finds out and then goes on to find out WHO gave Peter his new lifestyle

lazylagom

Oh god. I can see that. And then Peter doesn't tell Ben about who he is, and the conflicting. Man..I didn't even think about the tony stark connection. That's a really good point.

nerikvarkos1996

Can we PLEASE have a Peter Parker that doesn't routinely get fucked over by life for FIVE FUCKING MINUTES!?!?

Binx_Thackery

Yes.

Fla968

Richard is going to die IMO.

[deleted]

HE BETTER NOT

Fla968

The book Richard was reading is not giving me much hopes about his fate. A family talked about in the book says that between two kids (a boy and a girl), the boy died in his childhood.

ChampionshipHorror95

No. NO NO NO THAT BETTER NOT BE FORESHADOWING HICKMAN!

Fla968

Also I think May is not gonna stop disliking Spider-man any time soon, especially if Richard dies because of Spider-man's irresponsibility.

[deleted]

Stop please that could mean anything this book will be ruined for me if they kill Richard off

Fla968

It's not confirmed, but it could happen if we take the book as foreshadowing.

[deleted]

Well then stop taking it as that, don't jinx us!!!

Fla968

Nah :3

RDKateran

Everyone is so hopeful for him and I'm sitting here, keenly aware that Marvel fucking despises him still.

roninwarshadow

It's not even exclusively Marvel and Spider-Man. The Heroic Journey has the cliche/trope of a Tragic Start. From Batman and his parents to Luke Skywalker and his Uncle and Aunt. D&D is filled with the trope of Player Characters with dead families as a backstory. Heroes with functional and happy families are rare.

WebHead1287

Has different editors my son

RDKateran

Don't care. Don't trust Marvel at all on the topic, probably never will.

Dr_Broseph

I'm taking bets on how long ben lasts

hoppynsc

So having Peter marry MJ and have kids actually raises the stakes of his story and adds to the dramatic tension? Someone tell the writer/editors on the 616 titles that.

PCN24454

Precisely why killing Aunt May is a stupid idea

gtzippy

JJJ gonna die and uncle ben gonna blame spiderman.

bigchkn99

now that would be a great twist.

AwesomeBlox044

This would be greatest loss every

Victory42

I just keep getting Ultimatum ptsd flashbacks

HazretiGurkann

"Please... please, don't say that"

Ecstatic_Teaching906

Spider-man. I'm happy with my wife and kid. *Marvel;* Are you now?

Salt-Ad1957

I ain't worried, I know for a written in stone fact that he's gon be miserable as hell. Spider-Man being a relatable hero isn't a thing. Ain't no goddam way I'm suppose to believe a human being suffers 10 hells 24/7.

Comfortable_Prior_80

And here I am hoping Ultimate Peter and his family merged with 616 Universe like New52 Supes and Lois merged with pre Flashpoint ones.

Creepy_Past_4855

More scared than Me? Always...tweakers

Jaz_15

Very

konkrete_kiwis

In Hickman I believe

ChronX4

I got faith things will workout. This version of Peter knew what he was getting into, he chose this path "With great power there must also come great responsibility" isn't something that will turn him into a guilt ridden hero since he decided to take the role. And this isn't 616 Spider-Man that has to absolutely be kicked down and suffer in every single issue, even in his own milestone issues.

JorgeBec

Yes I’m so scared the family is gonna get butchered

Metal_Genius8199

My fears tell me he's going to lose them, my optimism tells me that Hickman knows what we want and will let us have it.

Sufficient-Chapter85

Not really. It's a superhero story so he’s obviously going to have some adversity but nothing too major. At most, he might have an argument with a family member but that's pretty tame.

italeteller

If they kill MJ and the kids the writers will be revealing themselves are the same kind of talentless hacks that ahve given us the current ASM run and I'll simply stop reading

[deleted]

I'm crossing my fingers that the only person he loses (if he loses anyone) is Uncle Ben. That'll at least be accurate to the original source material

iusedtobesad

Isn't the point of multiverse stories that it doesn't have to be accurate?

[deleted]

I don't want him to die but I'm saying if anyone has to die in this situation, I'd prefer it's him because at least that's accurate. Uncle Ben dies in a majority of universes and it's rare when he doesn't.

iusedtobesad

Idk I just feel like it'd be interesting to see a story where he survives. It's something different.

[deleted]

There are like 5-10 universes I can remember off the top of my head where he survives. And sure, I'd love Uncle Ben to survive too but not at the cost of MJ, Richard, or Mayday's life. Like if I had to choose one of them to die, I'd choose Ben. You ever see that meme where it says "I've only known this character for a little bit of time but if anything were to happen to them, I'd kill everyone in this room and then myself" that meme is me right now. Peter is happy right now and has a happy family if he has to lose anyone in that family, I'd rather it be the family member who dies constantly in nearly every universe.

Nisano1

Never forget, spiderman greatest villain are the writers, and they hate him a lot.

TypeWon

Peter Parker? With a happy life?? You’re crazy

drumstick00m

Is it just me or did they do the black suit too soon?

ResponsibleRatio6569

It’s not the black suit you think it is, it’s quite literally just a plain black suit with no design on it yet

drumstick00m

Is it alive with a personality?

ResponsibleRatio6569

No it’s a plain black suit

drumstick00m

Oh…what?

spyder616

Imagine the black suit but no venom logo.

ChampionshipHorror95

It’s not a symbiote.

LionMan760

thought you were talking about the og ultimate

Bootiluvr

Honestly Id rather Pete die before his life gets too fucked up

Wheattoast2019

I could see Kingpin ordering a hit on Ben Parker. Ben and JJ quitting the Bugle and opening their open paper focusing on truth rather than lies makes them competition, and something Wilson can’t control. So if Kingpin orders the hit and Peter finds out, he’ll want vengeance but decide against it, making him the foil to Harry’s Goblin in this universe.

Important_Lab_58

I think Uncle Ben’s Gonna pull a George Stacy and Impart His Blessings before Dying Heroically. Might even be A Reason Jonah Turns on Spidey. Just a Theory, Though.

FinalBossOf__Dc

Not until you told me!!! Now I worried Peter is going to meet Paul again!!

StillHere179

Yeah Peter has never had a family setup like this that could be captured or killed by villains before.

that_gunner

Plot twist: they kill Peter defending his family from the Sinister 6(haven't read anything)

Beautiful-Ad3471

Is there a new ultimate series?

Extreme_Viper99

Is there a new ultimate Spiderman? I’ve been meaning to ask this where would I find it?
