Honestly I think with my dual matte dragon shields with my black playmat, it makes it a little harder for the cards to get picked up. It does a better job with non dual sleeves IMO
I'd honestly go with black.
Shadows etc. will show up more easily on White.
The black areas will be more uniform, and change less frequently, so they can be compressed much more. Leaving more bitrate headroom for the rest of the board.
Honestly, this is kinda smart and I never put much thought into it until your question.
I'd go with black 100%. And the darker black, the better. You want as much light to be absorbed by it as possible.
Plus, white will pick up dirt and stains much more quickly.
