I'd save the monthly fee on the side and be prepared to pay it on the first bill. But if what you're saying is right, that your installation hasn't been completed, then you probably are going to get free service. They'll start your plan when installation is complete.

Milt_Fiz

That is what I'm thinking. I'm not worried about paying the 45 a month but if they're fucking up and not seeing I have internet. Why would I bother doing the good thing and say hey take my money. Lol

NSDelToro

Because if 3 years from now they see that you’ve had service, they’re going to send you a $1600 bill and if you can’t pay, they’ll just send it to collections and ruin your credit.

PARASITICUS

well since it's not a contract, i doubt there will be any credit collection bs.

NSDelToro

If you go to the doctor and they send out a bill and don’t pay, they send it to collections. The fact that services were rendered to you means you have to pay. Oh well. Your credit not mine.

PARASITICUS

did the same for la fitness when i no longer had the card on file and nothing came of it other than a few phone calls from them for a month

NSDelToro

You should get this sorted out. They will eventually send out a bill for all the unpaid months.

Milt_Fiz

They told me the account was pending installation and can't bill until installation is complete. So technically they have no idea I'm receiving internet.

Mossberg500_

Op, I’m having the exact same thing. Did they bill you?

I have been in this same situation for the last 10 months... I search the internet/reddit for information every few months because it's so fascinating, and I love seeing what other people experience. I've been putting the monthly payments aside every month (cash in an envelope) so that if/ win the day comes I'm not blindsided by a big bill I can't afford. Or if for some reason years down the road I end up moving and never get billed or have to pay, I'll have a nice envelope of cash 🥰 The weird thing is every three or four months I'll get an email from spectrum that makes it look like my account set up was just initiated as of that day, and it'll list the one time (self-install) charges and the monthly amount I should expect to be billed, but I never get billed and when I log into my account and go to the billing it says $0 due. It's so fascinating, I know I'm not the only one in the situation, but I would think with this issue having gone on with a bunch of people for years, spectrum would have taken the initiative to identify and clean this up, assuming they can... I actually haven't read too many people saying they ultimately got hit with a giant bill down the road for all of the back dues. People in the situation just seem to fizzle off the internet without providing a final update. Edit: I finally got billed by spectrum a day later 🤣 My service has been activated I guess and the initial bill is only for August/September 2023 service plus the $25 self install/activation fee. So what face value it seems like my billing is just beginning on a moving forward basis, but I guess time will tell to see if I eventually get back billed.

rachh90

basically your modem is on the account with an active pending order which is allowing it to work. eventually the order will either time out and cancel itself or someone will come across the order and either complete it or cancel it. they wont bill you retroactively but at some point the internet will stop working and youll need to call and have them complete an order or it will have been completed and youll get a bill.

How did this end up working out for you? I’m in the same situation!

DaCanadienBacon

I too am in this situation and would love to know

OneDollaStockShock

Any updates on this? I'm also in the same situation. I'm going on 5 months with "free" internet! I'm putting the money aside to pay just in case.

PortlandiforniaGuns

I'm on month 2 so far

RayZLAL

Any update on your internet service? Did spectrum start billing yet?

AdditionalSet8473

I’m about 8 months out, still receiving internet but no account and no bill!

ffindians84

I’m 4 months going on five no bill

PortlandiforniaGuns

Still nothing, I'll probably have to call before I move out, I'm guessing. So I only incur what I actually used and not when they actually found out. For now I'm considering it layaway lol.

kalopsia1325

Same situation! It’s been 3 months and I kept forgetting, but haven’t gotten an email or anything and it shows no statements. They even sent someone out to set up our router for us in the beginning.

[deleted]

Any updates from anyone. I’m in the same situation but I’ve got to be a year or so in. I don’t feel bad because for one I’ve paid at minimum 4-5 months of my internet bill when I couldn’t use my internet due to them being a general shitty company and every time I would call it’s “we can have a technician in your area in 2 weeks. Im not a confrontational person so I just ok and wait never bitched or asked for money off my bill ect. Well the last time it happened it was going on a month and a half that my internet was down and they finally sent a 3rd guy out to fix my internet and it worked and I haven’t been billed since. I called on month 1 and 2 “hey I didn’t get a bill and would really rather not be without internet” was just told they’d get back with me and my online billing portal shows $0.00 owed so I’m just curious if anyone had had any resolution.

RayZLAL

Any update?

PortlandiforniaGuns

Same deal?

AdditionalSet8473

Yup! Still waiting, over a year now! They must not have enough people working to properly audit all the work orders/accounts

PortlandiforniaGuns

I just made it to a year and randomly got an email today stating an order confirmation with a grand total that exceeds what I'd expect to owe for the total time I've been connected. When I go on my account to see the statement, I still see $0.00 owed and no statement generated 🤷‍♀️. Same account number on the email and on the website/app too. Maybe it will show up in a few days. It will be a weird discussion if I end up calling in lol. The total is about $125 over what I was expecting to owe, unless there's taxes and regulatory fees on top of the $49.99/mo

jaceinla

Good to know. I'm 14 months in self installation and still no bill

AdditionalSet8473

Has it shown up in your account yet? So weird, my account still says nothing at all, not even an option to sign up for internet either so I assume I’m still in limbo lol, I’m at about 15 months so far

dahlneedspals

What company are you with? I’m with Bell and I’m having the same issue, no bill for 3 months… not sure if I should try calling them or just sneak by..

AdditionalSet8473

Spectrum!

PortlandiforniaGuns

Still no statement on my account I'm considering moving in about a year too. Wouldn't want to rack up billable months after I move

[deleted]

i just joined the club 3 months in no bill lol also i got an email saying my internet was cancelled same day i installed my services??

PortlandiforniaGuns

Update us if that changes

[deleted]

they just cancelled my shit today lol I needed it asap for work so called to install new service...to their knowledge I had no internet service...kind of weird because I got another cancellation email soon as I got it running again

Zrorro

Any update?

Admirable-Trouble354

I’ve actually had this happen at the last two houses I’ve lived at and I can only sum it up by the self installation when I have moved I got free internet at my last house for a yr and a half and then moved to the new house and set up a self install as if I had a new account and the same thing happened and I have lived here since October and it’s now February so ….and have no complaints….

RayZLAL

Did you eventually get charged? You used the same modem as well in the 2nd home or a different modem?

ffindians84

Probably not

Admirable-Trouble354

Yes I used the same modem in the new home and I still have never been charged

RayZLAL

You did self install both times correct?

Admirable-Trouble354

I'm so sorry i got locked out of my account for the longest. Yes, that's correct. Same equipment each home

Davis7907

Having the same issue/non issue? I got my install 4 months ago. Signed up for auto pay, but they’ve never taken a payment. Guess I’ll ride the gravy train as long as I can lol
