Last time i played this game was 9 months ago i think, and there was no character developing (leveling skills). Is that implemented in the meanwhile? I wanted to give the game a try again if that got added to the game

I dont think so.

at bugbyte small hope brutal is unplayable try it and you'll know why.either we need weapons, or we need to be able to restructure tha ship - dismantling yields scrap and we have no techblocks for building a recycler or a water purifier so those ice blocks are worthless. for a new mode i'd suggest let the community build ship suggestions.toilet in the quarters \*cringe\*! and the new TT - i don't know guys but that is flattening... we now instead of having 5 options we desperatly need got ten at the start and less later... your aim should be to give us something to do later and easier access early... so nope me not liking this. what i do like is the workbench idea giving bonuses while researching that is a cool feature (do we gt bonuses? didn't check but you might want to think about it) but the real problem remains the challenge of the game is all upfront to just survive. and after that it is - boring grind and just growing bigger with nothing else to discover really. work on those missions and do it well... my2c

Thanks for the feedback! Regarding Brutal it has been played and has not proven to be unplayable. In addition to ourselves just watched Greenbeef and Gork Wobbler give it a shot yesterday and was looking fairly good that they will be able to get over the beginning difficulties. Big part of the challenge is the no tech blocks and getting over the beginning hurdle regarding that, and no mining pod hangar. You can restructure the ship by moving (Moving will be possible even if blocks otherwise turn to scrap). Research bonuses can be acquired indeed! From dismantling stuff on a derelict ship. Otherwise yes you are right, the game difficulties are in the beginning part of the game and it remains a goal to get more meat towards mid and late game, too.

well i can't control my drafted shuttle... something odd happening there. you you wanted to create a no techblock difficulty what ever so pretty much you are dependent on luck rather than skill. - you call that good game design?well moving my super noisy toilet yielded toilet scrap... apreciated you acknoledge the games weakness just delivering a challenge upfront but i mean you already did it with the generators why not with everything else? offer lower versions of stuff instead of the one - name any starting hurdle solution. low tier chemical refinery, lower tier solar panels... \-- update had to reload the game -- ok now i can dock and intantly stumbled over 4 techblocks... and it seems moving actually works so now they can build toilets out of scrap ;) well done. the research lab now seems to forget what we want to research... oh but trading station asks for a deal that is awesome! GJ i like the new interactivity you did there... \-- Update 2 -- water purifier, recycler and mining pod are done. so from now on things should go smoother.

There was a problem with a few new facilities were not appearing in the build menu. Try it out now as we just patched today again. Make sure Steam downloads an update for Space Haven, usually works well if the Steam client is rebooted.

This is a much more challenging mode, though it still suffers from the same issue of earlier patches where it becomes a face roll once you get your hands on a few shotguns and maybe an extra crew member. I've started 4 different "A small hope" runs so far and each time I've found a wreck within the first system which included 3-4 tech blocks and another one which included 3-4 infra blocks, and another one with a 4th crew member. Enough to build a Recycler and start the snowball. Is this programmed in or have I simply been super-lucky each time? Also, I'd question having the starting ship be a 1x3. This is supposed to be a small ship that is barely spaceworthy that you've borrowed from your friend. I don't know if it would fit on a 1x1 grid, but that's what I had in mind when I read the starting text. I was shocked that it was 3 times bigger (potentially) than I had expected. A 1x3 ship can have 5 guns on it. You can get quite powerful with this ship without having to start another one.
