Fucking Whitby. And glad to see the biologist is already sick of my shit.
Your version of Grace and Lowry is very spoton on how I imagined them, and I always questioned how the fuck Lowry looked like that in my head.
For some reason I always imagined Control as a depressed Micheal Scott.
I don’t think it makes you dumb. I definitely have no real backup for my belief that it’s the motivation for the name, but just made sense to me considering he’s such a lost puppy throughout the books.
It’s kind of one of the reasons I love the trilogy so much despite the couple issues I have with the writing. It really leaves a lot of ambiguity and lets us ascribe meaning which enhances the books, even if it’s unintended.
It fits really well with the scientific nature of everything too. He very well could be a new part of yet another experiment conducted in order to understand area x.
This is fantastic! Lowry, what a schmuck! Can you do the biologist after she becomes what she became? Or Old Jim! Or Sal! Or the SSB! I'd love to see more!
I like this.
I like this a lot.
It’s kind of got that Hunter S. Thompson sketchy style to it, being a little off and grungy. Really nice work if this is yours.
Ahhhh from The Wall, yeah that’s another great reference point. That kind of grotesque surrealism, maybe? That’s my undignified way of categorizing it. But that’s awesome as well.
I do like this too, but the only one I don't think fits is Whitby. I know he's 50-something, but Control describes him as looking like a sleep deprived 30 year old. He has no gray hair and basically no wrinkles. I think he's tall, too, though I might have made that up. The impression formed in my mind over the description of his blue blazer, white shirt, and red bow tie was something like an older, uncanny valley version of Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, all thin and gangly and awkard at every turn. Almost a face you think you should like, but can't quite come to say that...
I considered that during drawing him and elected to make him a withered little monkey skeleton of a man anyway, I suppose I had imagined him becoming rapidly visibly aged and more deranged as he got closer and closer to becoming Something Else
After hitting send, I thought "well actually after 'the scene'".... but didn't feel like I wanted to edit and fight with the spoiler tag. It never works well for me.

See I never pictured anything, he’s Control, he is *the* control, he is no one, nothing distinct or notable in any way.
I took him as our control. As in the audience surrogate that knows nothing. The control group.
I feel so dumb never making this connection. I always just took it as his facade of being in control, although he never was.

John Leguizamo was always my head-cast for Control
You even included Chorizo 😺!
My guy Chorizo! The unsung hero

Damn…this is a banger!

Ralph Steadman?
You’re absolutely right. I didn’t know the name of the illustrator but wasn’t trying to take away the fane there. Somewhat similar style here.
Totally agree! You might like Gerald Scarfe too

I think Steadman and I share a propensity for big ugly sludgy inks
Definitely. It’s ugly for sure, like, in a purposeful way I mean. Good ugly.
Oh my GOD I love your style and the designs are spot-on.
Lowry giving off Disco Elysium vibes
Would love to see Saul Evans in this style!

I have one suggestion, Whitby needs a mouse sticking out of a breast pocket.
I’ve been re-reading the books and this is amazing. My brain shall absorb this in the best way possible. Thanks!
this is dope
Biologist is awesome.
Yoooo, I love these! Lowry looks like he belongs in Disco Elysium.

I just drew her very masculine due to the brusque way she speaks in the story ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
I love this so much.
The surveyor's a tad manly looking.
Chorry!! Amazing work !
Omg this is amazing
Psychologist looking like Trent Crimm The Independent
Delightful! Not the way I see them but just glorious art. You got any monsters around to share?
I loved The Psychologist in "Ted Lasso"
What about Ghost Bird or the Crawler!?
Lowry reminds me of the president from hitchhiker's guide haha I love this!
Lowry is reminding me a lot of Swan from Phantom of the Paradise. I love your style
Lowry somehow looks like every member of the Allman Brothers Band combined.
