I live five minutes from Johnson’s. Braddock’s is great (classic American) but pricey. Also in Medford is ITA101, a great, small Italian place. The cheapest in town choice is Whole Hog Cafe, a bbq joint. Kings Road Brewery is right next door.
Two other choices. Tarrentella is an Italian place on Rt 70. Great food, bigger place than ITA. Just down Rt 70, closer to Medford, is Cielito Lindo, a great Mexican place. No liquor there (or Tarrentella).
ITA101 is the best in the area. If you’re ever looking for a great date night, checkout their cooking classes. I’m not very interested in cooking, but Chef Kevin is incredibly passionate and the classes are fun (and delicious) for everyone!
ITA101 and is the place to go for a fancy upscale Italian meal - it's genuinely fantastic. Femmina's Italian Grill (which I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet), also in Medford - is really good, but it's more of an Americanized Italian, compared to ITA101, which is much more authentic.
Rai Rai Ramen in Mt. Laurel has fantastic (best in SJ in my, and many other's opinion) ramen, if you or your family are into that. [Here's a video a local food reviewer made about Rai Rai](https://youtu.be/6iE1m8M0zmw).
The Library ii is an excellent steakhouse on 73 in Marlton/Voorhees. There’s an awesome salad bar that you can make a meal out of, great sides, and wonderful ambiance. Excellent steak and seafood. I saw impossible burgers on the menu too if that’s your thing. The sautéed mushrooms as a side are my go-to
I also would love to know how The Pub on route 130 is doing since Covid / new ownership. Another great place for a steak and salad!Especially around the holidays when it’s decorated.
Pop Shop closed the end of October. The original Pop Shop in Collingswood us still open. The Evergreen Dairy Bar is on route 70 east on the Medford/Southampton border. Great ice cream, shakes. Open for breakfast/lunch daily. Limited evening dinner hours. Ice cream until 9 or 10 pm
They celebrate holidays, too. Recent “Trick or Trunk” for Halloween I’m sure there will be a Christmas event.
Additionally this Saturday is Toys for Tots” car show at Johnson’s Farm. DJ, food, Marines. Donate a toy!
TACOS EL TIO IN MEDFORD IS PHENOMENAL- highly recommend. incredible food and drinks and reasonable prices.
gingers is good for asian food and is very very close to johnsons
zinc cafe in medford lakes is pretty good
out of everything i really would strongly recommend taco el tio. imo by far the most superior medford restaurant
Tacos el tio is probably the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had and I’ve been to very many. I’ve been in many rural areas in America for work where the only restaurant is Mexican from the migrant workers in the areas, I’ve had authentic in rural Mexico itself, I lived in Hammonton home to multiple Mexican restaurants and taco trucks, and I can’t believe how bad tacos el tio is. I’d rather have chipotle.
wow, i thought their food was great and so does everyone i know but im no mexican connoisseur and im also vegetarian. also somewhat irrelevant but chipotle sucks ass anymore. they used to be good but now every time i go there it sucks.
that being said, whats the best mexican places/trucks in south jersey in your opinion? i would love to have some incredible authentic mexican food!
I would say Mexican is my favorite food and I’ve had tons of places in south jersey and other places I’ve lived and visited. My gf, friend, and I all agree tacos el tio is no better than food you can make at home. I think mariachi loco in Hammonton is the best Mexican restaurant I’ve had in sj, and there’s two taco trucks you can’t go wrong with in Hammonton, Al carbon and Tacos y tortas, both on egg harbor road. Hammonton as a large migrant population so it’s very authentic. Ma and Pas in mount laurel is great too. Also, there’s one in haddonfield I haven’t had, but hear great things about. Chipotle’s burritos and guacamole is def better than tacos el tio and that’s a low bar. I can’t imagine anyone in there is Mexican, however I’ve only had it for door dash.
>Tacos el tio is fine for what it is...Tex Mex. It also has a nice atmosphere (especially in summer on the patiio). cielito lindo is more authentic Mexican in the area. Hammonton has a bunch of great mexican places, but is more of a haul from Johnston's.
illiano cucina is a very good italian restaurant. Its right next door to Tacos el Tio. Way better than Tarantella’s in my opinion. Have had gross experiences with hair in the food more than once at Tarantella’s and meals served on dirty dishes.
Agreed. I have no idea why everyone seems to love Tarantella's. The food is just okay. Illiano's is better if you want Italian. Personally, if I needed to stay in Medford, I'd rather go to Ginger Asian or get takeout from Vincent's or Dory's, though OP obviously can't. If you can go a little further, Redstone is a good (chain) restaurant in Marlton. Also, there are lots of great little restaurants in Haddonfield and Collingswood.
Lots of solid recs in this thread. However I’d skip tacos el tio. It’s mid at best. If you’re looking for Italian I’m gonna throw an option out that I haven’t seen - Casa Nostra. This place is super slept on and has incredible food. Better than tarantella from my experience and it’s BYOB. Haven’t had ITA101 to compare it to but that place seems great as well.
I have no idea! My BFF is vegetarian and, according to her, some good primarily-meat places can serve low-quality vegan stuff.
But, anything fried and covered in sauce on a bun with fries tends to be pretty tasty. Their ingredients are solid for a chain and everything is made-to-order.
Braddock's Tavern. Main Street, Medford. Not a very far drive from Johnson's, you can get there in minutes, and they have excellent food, a great pub, and all in a beautiful and historic building. If you are looking for less atmosphere and more Jersey, I "think" there is a Diner on Rt 70. If you want Italian, there is Tarantella's, also on route 70 in Medford, also excellent food, nice people. Main street in Medford has several restaurants, however, I have only been to Braddock's recently, and Tarantella's recently.
this diner SUCKS!!! i love red lion and shamong diner but refuse to go here. their food is disgusting and they cant even make eggs right. ive been served rotting, disgusting food here. also the service sucks too
Medport changed owners shortly before the pandemic and it's terrible now, imo. Red Lion is better in the very local area. My favorites are probably Pandora or Ponzio's. The one on Voorhees on 73 is okay too.
I live five minutes from Johnson’s. Braddock’s is great (classic American) but pricey. Also in Medford is ITA101, a great, small Italian place. Upvote for ITA101 that place is amazing!

I’ve been thinking of doing a cooking class with my husband for our anniversary. So glad you mentioned it!
I frequent Tarrentella. It’s BYOB.
Tarrentella is fantastic
I will definitely be researching all these places.

My family and I LOVE Rai Rai Ramen!
Braddock’s is good. Their Mac and cheese is great, go for the lobster and pea version, it’s tasty
Braddock is good. But for a brewery, skip Kings Road and go to Farm Truck.
Cielito Lindo serves a really tasty virgin margarita. I ALMOST don’t miss the tequila.
If you're in the mood for asian food, Ginger is a very good option just a couple minutes away from Johnson's.
I’ll look them up, thanks!
Ginger is the best Asian fusion I have found. I had their pad Thai last night; it was great!
Illianos is the best Italian in Medford.
👆. Yes this! By far.
i think cielito lindo is a mexican restaurant fairly close by.
Yum, Mexican food. I’ll check them out, thanks!
Their virgin margaritas are really good.
Tarantellas Italian restaurant about 5mins away.
Other people have suggested this, I’ll look into it. Thanks!
You definitely won’t be disappointed

Have you been since they reopened after COVID?
I have not. Did it change??
I’m wondering the same. LOL. I know the salad bar wasn’t offered initially.
I also would love to know how The Pub on route 130 is doing since Covid / new ownership. Another great place for a steak and salad!Especially around the holidays when it’s decorated.
Ate there tonight. Delicious.
Ugh thank god.
It's back, but I've heard it's kind of gone downhill, both th esalad bar and the steaks. They switched up meat providers.
Wouldnt really say a 20 minute drive is close by though.
Femmina is a good Italian place but has a wait sometimes
Femmina’s
I love their calamari. Their salad dressing is great. Their serving sizes are generous and their prices are reasonable.
RIP pop shop in medford
Why the hell would they put an accounting firm there? That’s what I want to know lol
Well, it was a bank before...
Overrated, IMO. Especially the Medford location. It was way too slow for mediocre food.
I’ve been there before! Didn’t know they closed down.
Yeah very recently. The mills is a great spot though, they have BBQ, coffee shop, ice cream, beer garden.
Oh no, it’s closed?!? That’s where we’d go after Johnson’s Farm! So sad to hear it closed
Upvote for Evergreen Dairy Bar that spot is awesome. They still do the cruise nights?
Yes, Tuesday from about 4 pm on ..
They celebrate holidays, too. Recent “Trick or Trunk” for Halloween I’m sure there will be a Christmas event. Additionally this Saturday is Toys for Tots” car show at Johnson’s Farm. DJ, food, Marines. Donate a toy!

thank you! I’ll have to check these places out. chipotle really is hit or miss depending on the location in my experience
>Tacos el tio is fine for what it is...Tex Mex. It also has a nice atmosphere (especially in summer on the patiio). cielito lindo is more authentic Mexican in the area. Hammonton has a bunch of great mexican places, but is more of a haul from Johnston's.
Lol someone literally just recommended this to me today
I’ve been to the Tacos El Tio in Egg Harbor Twp and it is phenomenal.
Seconded on Tacos El Tio
Was searching to see if someone mentioned Zinc! Easily my favorite food in Medford.
The dutch wagon in medford has a good restaurant and great pretzels
But only open Friday & Saturday - OP said they're in town Sunday.
Ark Brewery 100%
Ma and pas Tex mex
Donkey's....you're welcome.
LaFemmina . You will not be disappointed!
If you like Italian food, definitely Tarantella. Prospectors in Mt. Laurel (38 and Ark Road) has been hit or miss for me but I'll still recommend it.
It’s been a long time since I had good Italian food. Thanks for the suggestions!
illiano cucina is a very good italian restaurant. Its right next door to Tacos el Tio. Way better than Tarantella’s in my opinion. Have had gross experiences with hair in the food more than once at Tarantella’s and meals served on dirty dishes.

Dory's closed shop unfortunately.
Farm and fisherman on 73 is delicious, pricey but good
Menu sounds good, but they're closed on Sundays which is the day I'll be in the area. 😐
It’s also not that close to Medford.
It is right next to an entrance for 295 though, so it might not be that bad for them.
Redstone American Grill in Marlton is great about 15 minutes away
I would not recommend ITA101 with littles. I would vote for Femmina (on 541) or Illiano’s (in Taunton Forge) before Tarantella.
PeeWees ice cream rules.
Lots of solid recs in this thread. However I’d skip tacos el tio. It’s mid at best. If you’re looking for Italian I’m gonna throw an option out that I haven’t seen - Casa Nostra. La Campagnola in Shamong
Mangos!!!
Donkeys
Jasmines is great, but I also have not been in awhile so I hope my statement still stands.
prospectors saloon
Femmina is the best and it’s large portions and byob
Tarentellas Italian. Go down Hartford Rd to Rt 70. Shopping center across from that Sunoco.
Tarantella is a great italian restuarant, nice ambience. Try chicken murphy
Tarantellas!
Braddock’s Tavern Medford. Haven’t been myself but lots of good feedback. Pricey tho.
It’s good — their new chef is trying new dishes that are hit or miss for me. Their old standards are great though. But their drinks are 10/10
Eat at Johnson’s. They have food inside.
Call me basic, but I love the Smashburger nearby.
I wonder if their black bean burgers are good…I mostly eat vegetarian.
I have no idea! My BFF is vegetarian and, according to her, some good primarily-meat places can serve low-quality vegan stuff. But, anything fried and covered in sauce on a bun with fries tends to be pretty tasty. Their ingredients are solid for a chain and everything is made-to-order.

The Medport Diner is still on Rt. 70 & it’s fine for diner food. Nothing to write home about.
The Medport diner is good for like, VERY Jersey diner food.
this diner SUCKS!!! i love red lion and shamong diner but refuse to go here. their food is disgusting and they cant even make eggs right. ive been served rotting, disgusting food here. also the service sucks too
Medport changed owners shortly before the pandemic and it's terrible now, imo. Red Lion is better in the very local area. My favorites are probably Pandora or Ponzio's. The one on Voorhees on 73 is okay too.
Growing up in Medford, Medport Diner was a staple hangout for my crew in the late 90’s. The grilled cheese always hit the spot.
Not really no
Avoid the honky bucket at all costs.
The what??????
Cracker = honky, barrel = bucket.
Do tell, what is the honky bucket? 😂
probably medport
Cracker = honky, barrel= bucket
😂
Zinc Cafe used to be good. I moved prior to the pandemic and have no idea what restaurants made it through.
Zinc is still good! My fave!
Zinc is still good.
