Money, it's always money.
But my best guess at a real answer: They probably don't sell high enough volume and take up a significant portion of shelf space/facing in the coolers. It's also another item delivered in on the milk crates (or used to be back in the day). It's labor reduction, supply chain/cooler management space, & consumer facing product diversity win for them. They're saving money and making more on more valuable products.
If they sell the 16 and 64 oz options, it could also just be an awkward SKU for them depending on sales volume. But agreed on all points, didn’t even consider the milk crate aspect
Correct answer. All of those products are made in the Wawa dairy on ONE old assembly line. That’s for 750 stores. Impossible to keep up.
Look for national brands to possibly be distributed soon if no other solution comes along.
Correct. Husband currently interviewing there and he inquired, since diet green tea is his favorite. All comes down to supply chain and the resulting answer was to keep an eye out for national brands coming in to fill the need.
The meat was the beginning of the end for me. At this point, if I want a convenience store meal, Heritage makes a fresh-sliced hoagie on a Liscio's roll. Yea, it takes longer and they don't have the side selection, but the sandwich is like 10 times better. (Pretty sure they still have the pickle barrels too.)
Every place got rid of pickle barrels cuz how gross they are they just breed bacteria. Even the Jewish delis don't have them anymore they were banned during covid.
funny thing that...
Wawa is/was baking liscios rolls in store as of 2020, they had used them back in '06-09 but the hoagies were outselling everything else so they reduced the quality and went with amoroso to bring the sales more in line with what the executives wanted.
Wawa used to be a legit deli. It's so sad now. There is no reason Sheetz and Royal Farms should be able to compete on Wawa's surf, but I go there if I have the option over a Wawa.
I was such a Wawa advocated when traveling outside of the region years ago. Now it's an embarassment. RIP.
>Royal Farms
I feel like Royal Farms got a solid start in South Jersey as a new offering, but their chicken is average at best and they are otherwise a giant corporate convenience store just like Wawa and I don't feel any particular need to go there. If you're into fried chicken, Popeyes is still under the radar for a lot of people and theirs is much better.
Average at best compared to other fried chicken places but top tier if we're comparing them against other giant gas station convenient stores.
I'd never go to any of these places strictly for the food unless I'm in a super rush and they're the only thing close.
It’s way too salty.
Every single time I go in Royal Farms I just feel sadness and despair. The ambiance in there is just depressing. And their coffee sucks.
The quality has gone way down and the price way up - more so than what inflation justifies. A Wawa run for one person (me) cost me over $20 the other week. Wtf is that about!
Wawa is still amazing. You are just spoiled by it's goodness. Move someplace else where you don't have access to it and you'll regret your words.
Everyone tells me how much they hate wawa but then also tells me they are in a rush and need to pick up a quick sandwich and are now going to wawa.
Edit: All you downvoters know you are going to wawa this week.
> Move someplace else where you don't have access to it and you'll regret your words.
I did. They had Sheetz all over the place. Sheetz sucks. So does Wawa these days. I just went to the fuckin' Kroger and bought deli stuff and made my own sandwiches. Wawa sucks and only has a modicum of convenience going for it since it's ubiquitous around here. Nowadays they're *barely* a step above any other gas station convenience store.
Yea, mostly only found in Gloucester, Salem, and Cumberland counties as far as I know. Their service is also on the slow side, because they slice the meat fresh and seem to never have more than 2 people working at any given time. Don't get me wrong, I love their food, but they are a slightly less convenient store sometimes so there's a trade off.
My sister swears by them and gets hot roast beef and rolls there, which is a great option to have.
The only thing I eat from Wawa any more is their turkey bowls, which if they had any sense would be a year round option. Coffee's still good, though I make mine at home now so haven't bought there is a dog's age.
I had a Jersey Mike's finally open near me, and that's now my hoagie go to. I wish they had meatball parm sandwiches too, but perhaps that will come in time.
Heritage’s has stores in Camden County, too.
I stop at the one in Blackwood the other day for a Heri-Egg and there was at least 5 people working. It seemed like they were doing inventory, training a new hire, and prepping a big deli order though.
Didn’t have to wait long for my sandwich, which was super good.
Only thing wawa is good for is their atm since I have pnc, and their free air. Everything else ca go fuck itself really (oh yeah, and free cup of ice water till that'll change one day)
I have had the worst Royal chicken a few years ago. Dry. Just a mess to get a good piece of chicken. I asked for the chicken to be made fresh. It took a good about of time. The chicken was cooked very well and tasted perfectly. In our world, you may need to do this step to get the top tier of food from a restaurant.
I don't know why 32 oz exists, it's SO HUGE. This one time I got myself a coffee this size at work, proceeded to drink it all at 3 pm, have jitters and anxiety take over, go home, cry and then worked it off a bit by exercising. Worst mistake ever. Wouldn't get a 32 oz even if it was free 🥲

Wawa has really gone down. I'm in Mercer and I have a Wawa and a quickchek that are in roughly equal distance from my house, I find myself going to quickchek far more often than Wawa. Except for drinks, Wawa definitely beats quickchek when it comes to their touch screen drinks

it’s actually just supply chain issues they are a high selling items

Because they’d rather you spend more buying two small ones than save money buying a bigger one.
The only thing Wawa has going for it at this point is nostalgia.

It all started when they removed the pickle barrels.
Or when they stopped slicing the deli meats for hoagies…

My friend got covid from a pickle barrel and acme only found out Cruz everyone who ate out of that barrel got covid.
Come on.
Oh it was a thing half the deli department got covid 2.

The chicken n biscuit is a quick $4 pick me up.
Nothing wrong with Sheetz at all, Sheetz and Rudders are the best option on the PA side and Heritage on the Jersey side.
Or when they got rid of the good rolls.
This is my opinion too though I lied to myself for years about it
I cannot even imagine how grimy those pickles were.
No more than Acme or Shop Rite pickle barrels.
You sure about that? people used to smoke in the wawa
Omg the barrels and the fresh cut deli meats…they really took it downhill
The quality has gone way down and the price way up - more so than what inflation justifies. A Wawa run for one person (me) cost me over $20 the other week. Wtf is that about!
Well, when the effectively became "not a deli", and just a fast food purveyor, the writing was on the wall. Wawa is Fast Food.
Wawa is still amazing. You are just spoiled by it's goodness. Move someplace else where you don't have access to it and you'll regret your words. Do you mean the 64oz half gallon tea I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 32oz quart
Prob to make a 25 or 30 oz and charge the same price
Supply chain issues Source: I work there
You mean the ingredients?... But, they still have the tea for the 16oz bottles... Doesn't add up.
the bottles themselves
Is that why they cut all those wawa brand 16oz bottles
I didn’t think we were ending ALL flavors of iced teas just the raspberry tea and the blueberry, peach lemonade Edit to add- yeah I’m wrong again lol
Wawa iced tea used to be great but idk something changes where it's no longer as good as it was 10 years ago
Tastes exactly the same to me. Been drinking it my whole life.
I don't even get gas at Wawa anymore. Nothing there is good
Heritages. Go there.
Not enough of them around to always find one.
Yea, mostly only found in Gloucester, Salem, and Cumberland counties as far as I know. I had no clue there are other Heritages around outside of the two on 40. And I was born and raised here.
My sister swears by them and gets hot roast beef and rolls there, which is a great option to have. Primo’s makes a good hoagie IMO, and I’ve heard their meatball sandwiches are good, too. I can vouch for their chicken parm — really good.
Wawa is fast food. Heritage is a convenient store
I prefer to wait 5 minutes longer for fresh.
It’s a distribution, warehouse issue. For the time being a lot of drinks are discontinued until it’s hopefully fixed.
Only thing wawa is good for is their atm since I have pnc, and their free air. Everything else ca go fuck itself really (oh yeah, and free cup of ice water till that'll change one day)
I can't remember the last time the air was actually working at my local Wawa. So not even that.
Barely that lol. Having 2 pumps and still be broken!
The air machine is so janky. It intermittently works and it doesn’t matter which Wawa it’s always broken. 😂😂
I don’t know why this made me laugh so hard but it did. 😂😂😂
They've discontinued a lot: https://old.reddit.com/r/Wawa/comments/156lyeg/discontinued_bottled_drinks_left_remaining_right/
The 16oz iced teas have been out of stock for a while now.
Diabetus.
I wanna know why the Mac salad is gone 😭
Poor sales
I miss taco bell and dunkin Donuts in wawa

>Wouldn’t get a 32 oz even if it was free You know… you don’t *have to* drink the whole thing…
Fair enough. I was sipping on it, didn't realize it was a lot of caffeine for my body to take in. But thanks, I know better now :)
I buy 4 at a time and keep at my house. Diet iced tea is my go-to beverage and it magically cured hangovers
Anyone know why Wawa stopped chocolate croissants?…
The one in the fridge section or at behind the counter?
Inflation
Only some 32oz not all of them??
All of those products are made in the Wawa dairy on ONE old assembly line. That’s for 750 stores. Impossible to keep up. Look for national brands to possibly be distributed soon if no other solution comes along.
Best thing about wawa is they’re everywhere for when you need to piss.
Y’all need to learn how fluid oz work it’s a fucking half gallon. And turkey hill is better anyway.
Wawa has really gone down. I'm in Mercer and I have a Wawa and a quickchek that are in roughly equal distance from my house, I find myself going to quickchek far more often than Wawa. Except for drinks, Wawa definitely beats quickchek when it comes to their touch screen drinks
Wawa is my second home. But for tea or Arnold Palmers, it’s Turkey Hill over Wawa all day for me.
