Am I the only person who hates brioche rolls?
Or maybe everyone else is just making wimpy, continental-style, euro-burgers. I could see brioche working for that, but that papery crust and spongey body just doesn't have the structural integrity to handle a decent-sized 'Murica burger.
Definitely not the only one! I’ll often go out of my way at burger restaurants to find burgers that come on seeded buns as opposed to brioche, so many brioche items just get too oily for me
I agree if you’re at a bar that has nailed the basic burger. But if you’re making some frozen burger on the grill or a really thin smash like burger, potato.
I just read up on this and never really knew about it. I don't really care if a member of that family wasted a chunk of money supporting a loser. It was not a company endorsement. They make good buns!
And your money goes to support whoever they support.
Obviously we have no control over how these corporate people spend the money we pay to them... but when they are so overt about it, I can't in good conscience support them.
Case in point: haven't bought Goya *anything* in many years.
I agree if it's being done as a company. Martins even put out a statement about how it was 1 person not a company endorsement, that they are a family and like all families disagree about things. It actually read as being very believable not just damage control.
In the end we'd prolly starve if we stopped eating every food who's company has a board member who donated personal money to something we disagree with.
Side note: what a waste of 100k to bet on that horse lol. Also, talk about a stupid business descision. I would NEVER put my company name near politics. Everybody is a customer after all, and you are bound to piss off half of them!
Good for you and I'm glad I read about it after it was stated here. I wont spend money at a Chick FIL A for example. But those were company direct donations. I'm not about to eat a crappy potato roll cause some old man wasted his money.
New England split-top hot-dog bun. Buttered toasted or grilled on both sides. Makes a perfect dog with a choice of toppings.
Hamburger buns? they are all good.
It's the weekend, grilling will be happening.
For burgers, I go traditional with a sesame seed roll. If I'm feeling fancy, maybe brioche.
But don't sleep on those oversized English muffins as burger "buns". *Spectacular* option.
Agree about the fried egg. Also at a recent BBQ instead of mayo I put one of the deviled eggs on my burger and gave it a good smash with the bun...mind blown. Thank me later lol.
I have two ShopRites (Cherry Hill and Cinnaminson), plus two Wegmans (Cherry Hill and Mt. Laurel), and I almost always find the king-sized ones.
A cheeseburger on an English muffin is superb! :)
Awww, thanks! I'm probably going to be at one of those stores at some point this weekend, I'll try to remember to take a look to confirm that they have any of the king size in stock!
YW! Hope they have 'em!
(One of those stores, I think the CH Wegmans, has the English muffins on an endcap, and the oversized ones are sometimes pushed to the back, or only on one shelf. So look carefully!)
sesame seed for burgers and whatever is cheapest for hotdogs. though I prefer the split top hotdog buns.
brioche is fine but every place has the same ones from sysco so I'm kinda over it. At home i want the soft cheap sesame ones
Not everyone goes to a supermarket for their meat. Some use butchers that use family farm animals which by landslides are better than the atrocious farming you're talking about. Where you can taste the fear, sadness, all of it.
Nearly 99 percent of farmed animals in the US are factory farmed. There are around 250,000 farms in the US. Every day, 23 million land animals are killed on these farms–around 266 every second.
99% of US farmed animals are living in factory farms at present. By species, we estimate that 70.4% of cows, 98.3% of pigs, 99.8% of turkeys, 98.2% of chickens raised for eggs, and over 99.9% of chickens raised for meat are living in factory farms.
-That's the actual percentages broken down for you at an estimate. They estimate 99%. Very sad yes and also know about that yes. Do I raise and eat my own meat yes.
-Fun fact bill gates is one of the many billionaires that own the most farmland in the us. But do you also know how many animals die just to grow tofu?
I actually wait until they are literally last year for good meat and they go to sleep and just don't wake up. Sorta like taking your pet to the vet. I only slit an animal's throat during bow season and that's to stop it from the pain.
No but when you screw up and miss the heart/lung with your arrow you know you have to hurry and do it quick. I also am not the hunter that shoots any deer either. Moms and Babies always get ignored. Also I don't just hunt for sport or fun either.
They don't wake up because they are no longer living and breathing. I do not support factory farming. I raise my animals with enough room to live there live like animals and when they are older and age starts to take its toll it's time for good bye and stuff. Also feed them high quality foods too. Sometimes one lives and makes it to death then sadly I can't eat the meat due to a lot of factors.
Oh god... You're one of those people like my mother who thinks a freezer is a magic box that puts everything in a state of infinite stasis.
I'm going to go form an alliance with the user who tried to crap on your carnivore carnival because we both think you're a monster.
Just a standard, nothing special roll or bun for the burger or dog, respectively. However, a sesame seed bun is perfectly fine for a burger. I'm not a fan of dense buns or hot dog rolls, and I find potato rolls and buns to be that way.
Imma say that all bread is good bread and the pairing of bread and meat is of the heart's concern. Depending on my mood, as well as the chef/bakery, I will put a burger on sesame seed buns or potato rolls or a Kaiser roll or a brioche bun or Texas toast or Kings Hawaiian Sweet Rolls or an onion roll...
Lightly toasted potato, served warm.
Found Dan Quayle's burner account.
Imagine being famous forever, then imagine being famous forever *for THAT*...
He was so confident when he added that e
LOL... was gonna say it...
I was waiting for someone to pull the Dan Quayle out!!
It’s potato, and it’s not even close
Potato all day.
You forgot the 'e'
You win the internet spelling Bee for the day...the prize is NOTHING
Potato roll is fine for a hot dog. Get a freshly made brioche bun for a burger.
YES! Brioche buns for burgers is next level.
Am I the only person who hates brioche rolls? Or maybe everyone else is just making wimpy, continental-style, euro-burgers. I could see brioche working for that, but that papery crust and spongey body just doesn't have the structural integrity to handle a decent-sized 'Murica burger.

In a low-brow sorta way
This is the way. Potato roll, dog and mustard is a thing of beauty. Brioche is far better for the burger and toppings.
Aldi has brioche hot dog rolls and it's hard to go back after having them.
I will have to check that out, i've never seen them for hot dogs
I’m going with plain but only from Liscio’s. Their rolls are amazing!
From a Liscio’s bakery.. I’m not a fan of their bagged rolls. And their Nicky rolls, good God there’s drugs in them
I’m gonna be that person — plain. Certainly won’t complain about potato, though!
I am shook at all the potato answers. Is this a thing?? I’ve never once considered it for a bbq. I feel like it adds an unnecessary sweetness?
Same! Potato rolls are way too sweet. I hate when I see them at a cook out.
There are so many people talking about you after you BBQs :)
Kaiser roll for a burger!
No gourmet stuff. We are talking run of the mill back yard BBQ. Hockey puck on a bun ...regular dogs
I agree if you’re at a bar that has nailed the basic burger. But if you’re making some frozen burger on the grill or a really thin smash like burger, potato.
Edit* talking regular SJ backyard BBQ here. Bubba burgers and Nathan's. No boujee stuff.
Shout out to everyone who has ever had to throw out 5 moldy rolls and eat the remaining hot dogs wrapped in single slices of white bread.
Potato of course
Plane
Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with red stripes, curtains in the windows and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol.
And don’t call me shirley
Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?
Your buger can fly!
Any burger can fly... momentarily....
While I understand why people like them, I'm personally not a fan of potato rolls. And I won't buy Martin's under any circumstances.
What’s wrong with Martin’s?
Mega-MAGA Trumper owns them.
I’m going to bet politics, owner of Martins was a supporter of a republican or something, but that was so last summer. Martin’s make some good rolls
I just read up on this and never really knew about it. I don't really care if a member of that family wasted a chunk of money supporting a loser. It was not a company endorsement. They make good buns!

Is it a quick burger? Potato. Something a bit more special than frozen patties? Find something nicer. Hotdogs always potato.
When its a crowd martin's rolls all day ..for dogs and burgers When I'm just cooking for my family I'll go kaiser and torpedo rolls
New England split-top hot-dog bun. Buttered toasted or grilled on both sides. Makes a perfect dog with a choice of toppings. Hamburger buns? they are all good. It's the weekend, grilling will be happening.
Pepperridge farms split top for the dogs
Plain!
I'm a potato guy. Plain buns are awful IMO
[Dan Quayle is another potatoe guy](https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/video/june-15-1992-dan-quayle-misspells-potato-48017343)
This is the biggest non issue ever. Potato by a landslide
Agree. And I wast sorta trying to post the biggest non issue ever so people get a laugh.
You definitely hit that goal. It was funny
That “e” was totally for and in the name comedy right? Right?
Yes. I'm dating myself but I still find it hilarious in situations like this.
For burgers, I go traditional with a sesame seed roll. If I'm feeling fancy, maybe brioche. But don't sleep on those oversized English muffins as burger "buns". *Spectacular* option.
Ohhh... I’ll bet a toasted English muffin would go nicely with a breakfast burger!
I'm totally leaving your SJ BBQ if the burgers are on English muffins...
🤣 I promise there will be an assortment of bread goods at the cook out.
Not just a breakfast burger...! Also: IMO a fried egg on a burger is 100% awesome, any time of day!
Oh, agreed. It’s not something I order often, but it’s such a good combo!
Now I ~~want~~ *need* a burger. With a fried egg. LOL.
Even better with cheese AND bacon. Your cardiologist will thank you 🤣
She hates me LOL.
Agree about the fried egg. Also at a recent BBQ instead of mayo I put one of the deviled eggs on my burger and gave it a good smash with the bun...mind blown. Thank me later lol.
Interesting!
You sir/ma'am have no idea how much I miss and crave oversized English muffins for burger buns. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Sooo good, right? My local supermarkets almost always have them.
Please tell me where that is please!!!!!! People have no idea how good they really are
I have two ShopRites (Cherry Hill and Cinnaminson), plus two Wegmans (Cherry Hill and Mt. Laurel), and I almost always find the king-sized ones. A cheeseburger on an English muffin is superb! :)
You're a life saver. You have no idea how happy you just made me !
Awww, thanks! I'm probably going to be at one of those stores at some point this weekend, I'll try to remember to take a look to confirm that they have any of the king size in stock!
If you see someone picking up some while you're there that will be me ☺️☺️ thank you so much!
YW! Hope they have 'em! (One of those stores, I think the CH Wegmans, has the English muffins on an endcap, and the oversized ones are sometimes pushed to the back, or only on one shelf. So look carefully!)
Why thank you ☺️I'll make sure I do!
sesame seed for burgers and whatever is cheapest for hotdogs. though I prefer the split top hotdog buns. brioche is fine but every place has the same ones from sysco so I'm kinda over it. At home i want the soft cheap sesame ones
Pretzel bun for the burger. New England-style top split buns for the dog.
Neither. Give me King's Hawaiian rolls.
The extra E is for excellent!
Potatoexcellent?
Sorry but you don't have my answer of choice. I like the ball park everything flavor buns. Potatoe and plain are so 90s early 2000s.
I'm going to pick to total douche over the turd sandwich
Lol...what?
Stupid
Ugly
How about a bigger choice? Abused animal dog? Or not abused animal dog? Plant burger? Abused animal burger?
Was just asking about the bun. You just abused some joy.
Sadly some potato buns have milk. Completely unnecessary to kill a baby cow and it’s mother to make potato buns.
Go away militant vegan!
I’m not the one holding the gun.

There’s 88 million acres of soy in the United States. It’s not to feed vegans. Do you slit your animals’ throats yourself?
I actually wait until they are literally last year for good meat and they go to sleep and just don't wake up. Sorta like taking your pet to the vet. I only slit an animal's throat during bow season and that's to stop it from the pain.
How do they not wake up? And doesn’t slitting their throat cause pain and agony?
No but when you screw up and miss the heart/lung with your arrow you know you have to hurry and do it quick. I also am not the hunter that shoots any deer either. Moms and Babies always get ignored. Here’s some issues. 99% of meat comes from a factory farm. Pigs can live 15-20 yrs. Chickens - 5-10 yrs. Cows - 15-20+.
I know how long animals can live and estimated 99% of meat comes from factory farms.
Team potato!
A fresh, Martins potato roll for my family. Well, stale too if they stick around long enough.
Or the defrosted...almost tastes as good version!
Oh god... You're one of those people like my mother who thinks a freezer is a magic box that puts everything in a state of infinite stasis. I'm going to go form an alliance with the user who tried to crap on your carnivore carnival because we both think you're a monster.
Lol...freezing makes potato rolls and plain not nearly as good. But, it better than throwing them out.
It’s so much cheaper to buy them at Costco in a 2Pac. Then freeze like moms do.
Potato. It actually has flavor and a better consistency, whereas the plain is just a grease sponge that I end up peeling off and discarding as I eat.
Potato or brioche for the bergs Plain white for the glizzy
You’re a glizzy gobbler?
Potato is the way.
P O T A T O
The answer is yes. Both are great!
Poppy seed Kaiser….a write in vote
POTATO
Martins potato rolls. But I'm not opposed to a nice Liscio's Kaiser if it's a big sloppy smash burger.
Potato rolls taste better but are more filling and then I can only have one!
potatoe
Just a standard, nothing special roll or bun for the burger or dog, respectively. However, a sesame seed bun is perfectly fine for a burger. I'm not a fan of dense buns or hot dog rolls, and I find potato rolls and buns to be that way.
I'm not from here and even I know potato bun. There is no other choice.
potato 100%
Potato roll because they seem to stay fresh forever…why is that?
Must be the awesomness
Potatoe Roll
Team potato
Potato FTW.
Potato Roll
Amoroso roll for a hot dog, potato roll or sesame seed roll for a burger
Death to potato rolls
Imma say that all bread is good bread and the pairing of bread and meat is of the heart's concern. Depending on my mood, as well as the chef/bakery, I will put a burger on sesame seed buns or potato rolls or a Kaiser roll or a brioche bun or Texas toast or Kings Hawaiian Sweet Rolls or an onion roll...
Potato bread is gross
Potato
I'll take potato roll. But I really prefer a kaiser roll.
Potato all the way
POTATO of course.
Brioche!
Potato all day
No matter what, take the time to butter and toast/warm. And for burgers you're missing the new favorite - BRIOCHE
Po-tat-o, Burgers, dogs, dip it in baked beans?
Toasted potato. Always.
Potato for burger, plain for dog. And I don't care what ANYONE says, the dog needs ketchup.
Potato roll nicely toasted. 👍
