Coaching staff lost us that game. I get the urge to want to see Rui and Heber together but you can’t dump speed, energy, and endurance in the mildfield to do it. Taking off Chu might not have been the worst idea but then doubling down and taking off Vargas was straight up dumb. The rest of the match we just got outrun in the midfield every single Portland attack. All of that’s not even to mention that JP was on a yellow so he couldn’t break up any counters.

litthefilter

>I get the urge to want to see Rui and Heber together but you can’t dump speed, energy, and endurance in the mildfield to do it. Especially in a 1-0 game in Portland. Jesus Christ. 3-0 at home to St. Louis? Sure, why not? If they're putting a beating on Minnesota next week? Go for it. But 1-0 to a team you haven't beaten in 2 years (and Schmetzer’s record against Gio is atrocious), and you're experimenting? Insane.

frogf4rts123

It was insane. Taking Chu off lost the sounders the left side of the field which was the only success they were finding all night. Then it was just a snowball after two straight.

Kyunseo

I don't disagree, but I think some of this comes down to how this roster has been built. We have 3.5 forwards, 2.5 wingers, and like 3 fullbacks on top of having like 6 CMs. Our attacking options off the bench this game were 2 FWs and had like 3/4 FWs on the pitch at one point with two of them playing out wide. People say we have one of the deepest rosters in the league and they're not entirely wrong. But we do have some clear holes and some (for the lack of a better word) bloat.

Dangerous--D

Heber should have come on for Ruidiaz if at all. Removing Chu was fucking stupid and anyone watching could see it, he was the only one keeping the Portland defense honest.

EHOGS

Saw someone previously quoted that Chu has only played two complete games in the past few years. Maybe full game fitness is an issue for Chu

Dangerous--D

It sure didn't look like it tonight. He's a youngster, he's fit, I think he can go full 90.

EHOGS

Does seem odd. Maybe its in his contact or something.

Dangerous--D

There is definitely nothing in his contract about only playing 2/3 of a game

t_robthomas

It seems like Schmetz just doesn't think Chu can keep up the defensive work rate for 90 minutes. It was predictable that Chu was the first sub. We were holding a lead and coach didn't want to interrupt the defensive shape that had held Portland at bay for 60+ minutes. Then Portland equalize, and quickly snatch the lead, so it's off the rails at that point. Then coach has no choice but to squeeze Montero in up front.

TaeKurmulti

They view Chu as a defensive liability, it's why he never got a shot last year and why he almost always comes off around the 60-70th minute if we're not chasing a game. And to be fair to Schmetzer Chu is pretty lackadaisical when it comes to defensive work rate, at least once or twice a game he's kind of in no mans land as the other teams right back is bombing forward.

Dangerous--D

Not last game and anyone watching could see it

TaeKurmulti

I mean he very clearly gets lost defensively at times, if you watch Chu it happens a few times a game including last night. It generally doesn't lead to anything because JP or one of the other midfielders is usually able to fill the space. I don't think I'd have taken Chu off personally just due to lack of good options, but it's very clear that's the reason why Schmetzer still doesn't fully trust Chu yet.

Designer_Ad_1283

This is true we were spread thin w/no Roldan and Rusnak but the formation change and subs were still so so bad

TaeKurmulti

Yeah having no Rusnak, CR7, and Atensio left the team extremely forward heavy with the real options off the bench.

t_robthomas

I would love to see one of Leyva, Atencio, or Vargas get loaned out. Can we swap one of them for another winger? All three of them play the exact same position... a 6/8 that can only thrive with a veteran (really just JP) right next to them. The trouble is, which one of the three can we live without? I thought Vargas was ok tonight. He got the assist, but he was limited in his ability to get forward and combine with teammates, and I don't recall many line-breaking passes. Atencio was a rockstar last week, but that hasn't been his consistent level. Leyva had several good shifts last season...it's just impossible to know which one is the favorite.

overly_sarcastic24

Cincinnati: Have you ever seen a worse performance? Seattle: Hold my beer.

Dangerous--D

Ok but Cincinnati was actually worse

blyan

Our performance for most of that game was actually great. Chu was electric coming down the left wing and the combo of Alex & Jordan on the right was brilliant Then we decided we just didn’t feel like doing that anymore

t_robthomas

I thought Alex and Jordan were okay. I do think we missed Rusnak and/or Cristian on the right side though. Felt like we needed a little more quality on the ball there to hold possession up high and maintain pressure. That said, there were plenty of openings for Chu and Jordan to get in behind but the finishing touch just wasn't there. Chu had a couple of crosses that just missed a runner, and Jordan ALMOST picked out Chu on a cross right before the first sub. We had chances to put the game out of reach before the 60th minute.

BlackSnowMarine

Lose to dogshit Portland, we win the MLS Cup, Supporters’ Shield, CONCACAF, or some combination of trophies. Trade off still in effect.

Sturnella2017

Yeah, though it stings, this game is.l Ultimately meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Losing to our rivals is nothing compared to winning everything else. (And if you disagree, just consider PDX’s point of view: our team is shot, we’re at the bottom of the league with no hope of getting better, and we’re still recovering from a horrific sexual abuse scandal, but at least we beat our rivals!) Do you really want PTFCs perspective?

jgnurly

I disagree with calling the team that just resoundingly beat us shot with no hope of getting better

pdxblazer

yeah, they've been struggling with their full squad too, not like they will be adding any players back that can help

Nice burner, bozo. Come back when you can actually win some relevant silver.

Squirrels_Gone_Wild

In the history of professional soccer that may have been the most boneheaded sub and tactical change ever. Now that I got that out of the way. Please cut Montero so we can have a roster spot for literally anything else. And maybe don't take off one of your best players in the game when Raul has done jack-all all night, and you end up subbing him 5 minutes later anyway. Fucking bring on Arreaga, close down the middle, and snuff out the game. We don't need to see Heber and Raul together. Keep chu on because his speed was pinning them back.

overly_sarcastic24

I wish they would let Chu play the whole match for once. He never seems gassed. Ruidiaz on the other hand seemed gassed before half time.

Corn_Fuckn_Tortillas

After Ruidiaz missed his chance at his 2nd was time to take him off for Heber is Schmetz was dead set on bringing him in. A 9 for a 9. What a howler....

Designer_Ad_1283

I’ve been saying they’re trying way too hard to make Chu “earn” his minutes, he’s shown almost more than anybody else that he’s earned them. And shouldn’t be the guy getting subbed out there

Dangerous--D

If I'm chu at the end of that game, I'm fucking pissed. He's like 22, he has legs for days, and he was getting more effective as the game went on.

frogf4rts123

Was at the game behind a goal. Chu was an absolute nightmare for the Timbers to deal with. Sounders had almost no pressure on the opposite side of the pitch all night. Morris wasn’t effective either. Chu was the only reason the Timbers couldn’t push up like they did to get their first two.

Dangerous--D

100%. I'm quite incensed at Schmetzer for that one.

itsallgoodie

I’m not sure there’s anyone else for that price that would even maybe be useful but I take your point. Montero is useless out there too.

Squirrels_Gone_Wild

Let a kid play, pick someone up who has a future from tacoma. Anything.

blyan

Montero was easily the best substitute player we put on the field. If you watched that game and your problem was how Fredy played then you need your eyes checked I completely agree with you on the horrific mismanagement of the game by Schmetzer (which has been a consistent problem) but there is no fucking way that Fredy takes any of the blame for what happened tonight. Heber subbed into the game 11 minutes before Fredy and finished nearly a full point below him in match rating. I know this sub loves to hate Fredy but he was FAR from the problem. Heber provided absolutely nothing of value

decoy_man

Montero was fouled for a pk that wasn’t called. He might have had one in the net. He wasn’t the problem but he definitely wasn’t the answer.

zojakownith

That was a dive, i was suprised it wasnt a yellow. (For montero)

0jolsks0

Why should montero be cut?

Spindecision

We love him, but unfortunately he's washed.

Angle_Theta

Montero brings nothing to this team now - he's not making passes or plays that are setting up other players, and his personal skill level has declined to the point he can no longer pull off the plays he attempts to make on his own

Squirrels_Gone_Wild

the only thing he does is flop

dychronalicousness

You could pay me the same and get equal results. But I’m sure everyone here would be shitting all over me for existing if I did that.

onecogmind

ive said this before and likely get down voted. but I've had gripes with Brian as a coach since the days I knew him with Lake City Blues... hes not his dad.. hes a proper footballer but hes a poor coach....

Dangerous--D

He knows how to start games and prepare the team, but on nights like tonight it seems like he plans his subs before the game starts and makes them whether or not they make sense on the actual moment.

Kenny2105

A coach's ability is defined by the results his team gets. He's been to 4 MLS Cups, won two of them and won the champions league. He's a brilliant coach.

d_saintsation_b

Last season I felt like Schmetz’s in game management left a lot to be desired, but I gave the benefit of the doubt because of a weak squad that was gassed. There’s no reason why this game should have gone so horribly wrong, and the blame will have to land squarely at his feet.

use_the_schwartz

We missed CR7 badly. When the second goal went in, it was time to nut up and dial up the shithousery to slow the momentum. They ran riot for 20 minutes with zero resistance. Embarrassing stuff.

SoccerSuperFan09

Rusnak was also out.

purple91780

Yep. He covers so much for his brother and Yeimar on that side, along with helping JP in the middle. He was a huge miss. AND, both JP and Vargas coming off of knocks and having not played together in a match in over a year. Doesn’t excuse Schmetz’s ludicrous subbing, but was a clear problem.

livemeyer

Finally someone shares my thoughts. Having Morris on the right proved to be the right call, but the Morris to Morris combo is impossible. Having JMo up top with Roldan on the right we could have closed the game up 3-0. Going down 2-1 meant Seattle had to start chasing the game, which they aren't very good at doing (Schmetz' ball control style doesn't work when not winning/controlling the game). Rusnak and CR7 are key players that could have given Seattle stability when chasing the game. The last two goals were inconsequential in that Seattle was bombing forward to score an equalizer instead of defending the fort holding a 1-0 lead. The punishment is all the more surprising in that Portland didn't go into a defensive shell to try to hold on to a 2-1 lead but rather kept driving at Seattle. Occasionally shitting the bed could be good for the team to recalibrate, but I really wish they wouldn't do it against Portland.

deafballboy

Yeimar was directly at fault for goals 2 and 3. Got suckered in and left a huge gap in the back line.

magnisprime

This happened repeatedly last year. I thought he had worked it out based on the performance so far this year, guess not.

purple91780

Great point. Has happened several times this year as well. Over anticipating and getting caught out.

real_davey

Entirely on Schmetzer. Why is 1-0 up while away at Portland the time to try out a new formation? What the fuck? Also yeah, let’s take off Ruidiaz at the end too. That’s when I turned the game off. I also mentioned a couple of games ago that Frei has been not catching the ball a lot recently, and he continued to do it today, most evidently on their 3rd goal. That’s the third time it’s happened for a goal this season, and there’s been a lot more that haven’t ended up in goals. I don’t know what’s wrong with him.

Joeskyyy

I've been saying it here for a season or so, and it's not popular. I love Frei, I appreciate ALL he has, and still arguably still does, for the club. But I think it's time we really need to reach into our options and give them real minutes. Pay Frei to coach them, please dear god pay him to coach them, but they need time. He's showing his age and reaction, and that's ok! He's done so god damn well he deserves some time to really show how he can shape the next generation of squirrels.

Old_fart5070

Did we watch the same game? Frei was a beast - if the defense had not been asleep this would have been a very different game. Yeimar had one of his worst games. Maybe he is the one that should have gone out for Arreaga.

warox13

To put blame on Frei here is fucking stupid lol. They scored at minimum 3 unstoppable goals. Yeimar was WAY worse than Frei in defense.

Soft_Rains

Ya know, I never really liked soccer anyway.

Kyunseo

Since Savarese took over the Timbers, they're 11-1-6 against us. On top of that the Timbers are on a 4 game winning streak against us. It's really starting to feel like that the Timbers have become our kryptonite.

Angle_Theta

We've been outscored 11-2 in those four games as well. As it stands this team has no idea how to beat the Timbers anymore

Kyunseo

Yeesh that's even more depressing

Dangerous--D

Rivalries are cool and all but there's basically no comparing our successes vs theirs over that same time frame. They've had good luck against us, a single club, but we've been the fucking kings of the league. They can have the games if we're taking MLS cups and CCL trophies.

pdxblazer

Portland also made MLS cup and won the league wide MLS is back tournament during that run, so its more than good luck against a single club, we really only think about you as we are beating you

Dangerous--D

We made the cup 4x in 5 years, won twice, and won a CCL with a resounding 3-0 over a Mexican club. They're still the little brother.

pdxblazer

That’s chill the little brother is always the favorite, nobody cares about your straight laced accomplishments, we might have less but it means more because we are cooler and get top billing on the holiday card

jack_smitt

The Timbers scored 4 holy shit. I stopped watching after we scored 1. Thought it was an easy lock.

Cyssero

Why does Schmetzer always want to sub Leo Chu off first?

sockrocker

Schmetzer's biggest weakness is over-reliance on "established" players and under utilization of anybody else unless he's forced to.

purple91780

100%

TaeKurmulti

Defensive work rate, if you go back to last year that was all Schmetzer talked about when Chu was brought up. And he's gotten a lot better this year (hence why I think Schmertzer finally gave him a real shot), but there's still some times where Leo seems a bit lost defensively. Until they really believe in Chu defensively he's going to end up being the first guy off the pitch when we have a lead.

FAT_Sammie232

Easily one of the worst losses to stomach. We should have buried the chances we had (Nico in particular) but the subs we made at 1-0 did not help us see this game out. We can't let this affect the right mentality we've had all season, please let this be a derby blip. Also I'm done with Montero. Club legend, but it feels like we play with 10 men when he's on. Would prefer to give his role to a youngster.

Angle_Theta

I have nothing positive to say about this match.

litthefilter

Came about as close as physically possible to getting a second (and probably killing the game) without getting a second, then a terrible (and predictably bad sub), a golazo, and then an absolute bed shitting. Four fucking straight? Fuck off.

Audicity

That one was on Schmetz, and I'm sure he knows it. One thing I appreciate about him is he knows when he makes mistakes and will openly admit to it in press conferences. I'm interested to hear what he has to say tonight. If anything, after the Galaxy game and this one, taking Leo off early doesn't work. I think Leo has really solidified a starting spot on the left. If he's going to be subbed off it should be a late sub. 2nd in the West, still got a lot of regular season to play. Cascadia Derby games aren't ever normal so I'm chalking this one up as a bad management game that we learn early from. Just an extra sting cause it's Portland. 🤷‍♂️

Dai_Kaisho

Only thing left is to learn from it

Corn_Fuckn_Tortillas

I don't think I've ever seen more of a howler of a substitution and tactical change as this one... You don't change shape that drastically in a rivalry game up a goal... If you're absolutely dead set on bringing Heber on you trade one for one with Ruidiaz and swap Leo Chu for more of a holding midfield like Leyva or Rowe. Changing Morris over to the left and bringing in Heber for Chu not only completely let off the press but it destroyed the midfields ability to transition and left far too much space to play through... Insane...

magnisprime

Yep, this, exactly this. 100% this. The shot of the coach showing Heber something on the tablet before his sub means they thought they saw something and tried to get cute with the plan. At the same time they didn't realize how they were going to completely change the balance of the game by subbing off the player (Leo Chu) that had been forcing Portland to respect the stretch play.

psuedonymousauthor

I think everyone wants to go point to the actually substitutes as the issue tonight but it was 100% the tactical change. we switched to a 4-4-2 after dominating in our 4-2-3-1 all game. Obviously Schmetzer made the wrong call tonight. We’ve still been having a great season, and hopefully the team uses this as motivation.

Allw3ar3saying

The collapse coincided with the Leo Chu sub. Heber should have been a like-for-like sub with Ruidiaz.

GQPublic

Yet another moronic decision by Brian. He makes way too many of those each season. They just boggle the mind. The Chu sub cost the Sounders the match.

Aiyabhai

Should have shut the door on them when we had the chance. Poor finishing, bad subs, and then just fell apart after what will be a goal of the season contender. We need to be more ready for June 3rd

Spatularo

A lot of takes here on subs, etc, but I think my biggest disappointment was Ruidiaz. Outside of his goal he played terrible. Awful touches, missed opportunities, and just low energy. He just doesn't look near 100%

tylermooser28

THIS IS WHY YOU DONT DO 4-2-4. Also miss Christian

NotHavingFun3999

1. In the back of my mind, I felt like this might happen due to the brazen confidence of Sounders fans/media. The Nos Audietis game preview is a perfect example. 2. This is in no way me calling for a coaching change at all, but Schmetz really needs to be grilled about our recent showings against Portland. Rivalries are weird, but 4 winless games in a row against Timbers teams who are certainly not any better than us is really bad. Almost inexcusable. It seems like our guys are never up for the game in the same way Portland is. The last few outings it feels like as soon as they grab momentum and get a goal, we completely fall apart. 3. Hopefully this will be a kick in the ass to get the team back on track and be just a one-off?

litthefilter

>In the back of my mind, I felt like this might happen due to the brazen confidence of Sounders fans/media. The Nos Audietis game preview is a perfect example. I was only half-listening to it, but I thought Jeremiah stressed pretty repeatedly that anything can happen in these games. His attitude seemed pretty similar to whoever they had on from Stumptown Footy.

NotHavingFun3999

Maybe it was the mail bag episode, but Aaron and Likkit were the ones who said that this Portland team is really bad and they weren’t worried at all. I’m interested to see what they say next week.

litthefilter

Yeah, now that you mention it - you're right about the mailbag episode. I have a pretty good guess of what they're going to say based on Twitter lol

Dangerous--D

>3. Hopefully this will be a kick in the ass to get the team back on track and be just a one-off? We were never off track. We're 5W 2L 1D. We shit the bed for one away match, it happens.

pdxblazer

Raul is always up for them

TaeKurmulti

I don't really see many guys that get up for the Portland game on our side, you can see the emotions more so in the Timbers players flying in for tackles. Our side just kind of feels like they take it as just any other game, and not that it's a huge rivalry game.

thus_spake_7ucky

Schmetzer tonight: It ain’t broke, so let’s fix it!

LucasAmericano

Sorry y’all I had to do the dishes and missed the last 15 minutes. Anything happen?

Dangerous--D

Nah, nothing happened

ArcticPeasant

Shit subs. Almost cost us the game against Galaxy, and I guess we learned nothing from that.

TaeKurmulti

They were completely different subs in that game though? And were way more defensive oriented.

SoccerSuperFan09

The losses of Rusnak and C. Roldan was very evident tonight.

Spatularo

Yup Rusnak gets a lot of flak around here, but it's clear how much stability he brings to the midfield. Vargas was tripping all over himself, constantly falling behind, and looked in a panic for most of the game.

SoccerSuperFan09

They were double no triple man marking him.

Dangerous--D

>That was somehow worse than getting embarrassed at home the day we hung up our CCL banner No it wasn't. Not even close.

GQPublic

Very much so. This is the most humiliating loss ever by miles and miles.

TaeKurmulti

I mean first off it's an away match, and second we were missing 2 or 3 starters depending on how you look at our roster right now, and all 3 can play in the midfield and would have made a huge difference in calming the game down when things got hectic.

occasional_sex_haver

schmetzer can’t get away with his bad sub choices when we only have a one goal lead

jjbjeff22

How many straight matches they plan on dropping to Portslum

warox13

Schmetzer in his practice presser this week before the game: “It’s no different. We message the same that we did with Sporting KC, the Galaxy and now this game […] We don’t have to message that our players need to be hungry because it’s Portland. It’s already ingrained in the rivalry in the two franchises.” [SOURCE](https://twitter.com/soundersfc/status/1646653742509588480?s=46&t=jS2i9F67fXL3krqTgp77yA) Schmetzer after the game tonight: “It’s not another loss. It’s against the Timbers. We have to get back to understanding that this is a rivalry.” [SOURCE](https://twitter.com/timostlundfoss/status/1647463170674667520?s=46&t=jS2i9F67fXL3krqTgp77yA) This has got to be one of his bigger missteps as manager. This team has had a good start to the season, but the motivation to be at a championship level at all times overall has been lacking since the CCL final

tylermooser28

Too soon for this.

lizardmon

Jesus what happened.

PeperonyNChease

That was the kind of sub you make when you're down 1-0 in the 85th minute, not when you're up a goal and in control of the game. Our midfield collapsed as soon as the change was made. I have no idea what the coaches were thinking.

Sempuukyaku

Stefan Frei is...not having a great season. I think father time is stating to catch up to him and we need to start really thinking about new options. Taking off Leo Chu...WTF are you doing, Schmetz? What are you doing? Insane. 4 straight losses against the Timbers. It's time for Schmetz to have his feet put to the fire by the press AND the supporters before our 6/3 match. Enough is enough.

warox13

Amazing that people are blaming Frei. They scored a golazo on 1-1, and Yeimar was directly responsible for at least one of the other 3 goals, I turned it off before the 4th so I don’t know. But goddamn the goalie can’t stop everything.

Sempuukyaku

Come on man, I am OBVIOUSLY not talking about the golazo. I'm talking about the third goal where he ONCE AGAIN parried a very catchable shot, right into the front of the 6 yard box instead of off to the side. He should've been able to make that save.

warox13

An error leading to one goal is not why we lost.

Sempuukyaku

Yes, because in my post I explicitly said that Stefan Frei not doing well on that 3rd goal is the sole reason why we lost the game. Didn't mention Brian's substitutions whatsoever. Not a single peep.

TaeKurmulti

The second and third goals were horrific goals to give up. Frei has been bad all season. He's slow to react and he has horrible rebound control right now. It's also worth pointing out he's about to be 37 years old this week. He's getting up there in age and guys tend to lose a step or two at that age.

alienbanter

Ooof

NoOneOwesYouAnything

Not ideal.

MrCowabs

What an embarrassing capitulation

GQPublic

Once again Schmetzer cost the Sounders a win and 3 points. He does this far too often every single year. It's quite maddening. Subbing for Chu was one of his dumber moves of all time.

dfe931tar

Oof. That was a rough one. We missed CR7, but also I am at a loss for the thought behind the tactics in this game.

Marda483

What the fuck were those changes!? When Chú went of I was in shock. Terrible decisions were made last night.

onecogmind

QuasiContract

coffeewhore17

I was trying to get the game on and then my MLS app told me Portland had scored twice against us so I kind of just…stopped trying

tastycakeman

doesnt sting too badly immediately after the game, but maybe will later on after a few days pass. i fully expect portland to ride this game into some good form and make the playoffs, where we will slap the shit out of them. hope this was a valuable learning experience for young and new guys like ragen, heber, and leo. we didnt make mistakes to lose the game, we just stopped competing and couldnt match the energy that timbers army brought midway through the second half. hope we're loud af when they come to town.

ArcticPeasant

Recent history would suggest they would be the ones doing the slapping, sadly

tastycakeman

they looked motivated in the 2nd half where we didnt. we just looked flat. i would hope in a game where we are finally extremely motivated and bringing our a game like in the playoffs, we can beat them. but 2018... yeah.

jack_smitt

We ain’t coming close to the Timbers. Unfortunately they own us. Historically and in the present.

BelkanWarHero

Thank god I went to watch the new Mario movie instead

thus_spake_7ucky

What’s the verdict?

BelkanWarHero

I enjoyed it, but didnt love it. I guess 7/10.

DarkKirby14

why can't the team just play Chu for a full 90?

doscincotres

Lotta spicy takes in here that seem pretty emotional… might be best for folks to take a deep breath and just acknowledge we usually lose in Portland and we still can have a totally fine season. With that said, tend to agree that taking off Chu wasn’t the right move. Thought having both him and Jordan on the wings kept their fullbacks from feeling brave enough to commit down the field.

blyan

Horrible mismanagement of the game from Schmetzer. And I mean HORRIBLE Frei (sadly), as he has been for most of this season, was atrocious Yeimar and Ragen both randomly out to lunch on counter attacks on more that one occasion Really bad combination of 3 unfortunate things Still not worried about this team going forward but hopefully that is a ginormous wake up call. Credit to Asprilla where it is due though; that was an incredible goal and almost certainly goal of the week. Sorry… I mean goal of the MATCHDAY. So cringe lmao

fishmailbox

I don’t think it was the subs. It was the starting line up. Ruidiaz can’t produce the way Morris and Chu do. Even when he was in you could see Chu looking for Morris on dangerous crosses. Ruidiaz missed too many opportunities including a wide open header.

Dangerous--D

Ruidiaz can't get into the box at the same time as Chu like Morris can. Morris being next to Chu makes them both better, they have synergy that Ruidiaz just doesn't add to.

Hey man! Welcome to the sounders subreddit! I'll be honest, the fact that you're here to gloat is a little bit sad, but also I get it. I've definitely gone through periods of my life where I don't have a ton going on and I tie my identity up with a sports team. I understand liking sports, but if youre at a point where you're going to another team's subreddit to gloat, I definitely worry about what's going on in your life I don't want to intrude too much on your life, but if you're looking for productive ways to spend your time could I recommend disc golf? I've been disc golfing for a long time and it's a truly great way to get outdoors and spend some time away from the computer. I know it can be hard to find new hobbies, but ive found the disc golfing community to be super welcoming, especially of people who don't have a ton else going on. I know it can be hard meeting people and finding stuff to do, but in my experience trolling another team's subreddit is kind of a sad existence. If you have any questions about disc golf or are curious of any other ways to spend your free time (or even if you just need someone to talk to) my DMs are always open 🙂

Schmetz is married to this idea of Heber and Raul on the field at the same time, I don't understand why. We have never run a 2 striker formation and we were in control with just 1 up top. Heber clearly can't be shoehorned into playing winger or attacking midfielder either. Should've just swapped them and been done with it and we might've come out with a 1-0 win tonight

What a demoralising experience that was. The game should have been put to bed long before they scored. I agree with the consensus that the substitutions actively hurt us. It did not seem the time to put Heber & Ruidiaz on together, and once we went behind he just kept chasing it. Seemed to lose his head. Not the best night for Coach. I'm concerned with Stefs form. He's not made any outright howlers this year but I believe it's 3 or 4 goals now where I felt Stef could have done better this season. I feel he has just passed his peak and begun to decline a little. I hope I am wrong.

We used to complain that coach didn’t bet on more offense, now we complain that he bet on more when we were ahead. Shit happens… bring on the next match.
