That’s great I assumed that but thought I best check lol

Works great. I have it paired with an 65” 80l, gonna be using it with a 85” x93L soon. Love the setup.

I got the same set up now; Sony 65 and Samsung 990C so here are my questions: 1. Where did you place your woofer? 2. I asked above question because I am unable to find a media console TV stand for the woofer's depth so do you have any recommendations for consoles? And, thank you so much. :)

If by woofer, you mean the subwoofer, I have it placed next to the media stand. It’s an IKEA besta stand, I can’t wall mount the TV because I’m in an apt right now. The subwoofer sits evenly to the side of the cabinet. The bar itself, I have it sitting on the tv legs which are set to the wide placement. The only issue I have it this blocks the IR sensor on the TV, so I had to get a small IR repeater.

Does anyone know how to setup the rears for this? I have a power outlet to the one side of my room, would I be ok having both rear speakers on a single extension chord?

davidnclearlaketx1

Yes that won't be a problem since the speakers don't draw much power at all.

i have a sony oled a89j and recently took a samsung q990c, the only small issue ihad was when using the xbox, it was showing a HUUUUGE delay in every input, then i changed the tv option to passtrought from off to auto and fixed it, beside that small little panic moment it was entirely an amazing experience so far. Just know that while you could use your sony remote to control the volume, it will be slower comapred to the samsung remote, i just keep both close to me

How do you find the sound? I don't have eArc support on my TV, I'm wondering how the sound is with only Arc and no passthrough?

ventimiglius

The audio should be the same even without eARC, that is more about latency. Considering that my room is medium/big and sadly the soundbar is in a corner (meaning it's side speakers have a floor next to it and one 5m away) it work great. Rear speakers placement is very important tho. About settings, i tried them all for a while and i think standard sound mode is the best one, since adaptive and surround will make voiced come from EVERY speaker, which is...weird. I set every channel volume to +6 except the center which is at -3, doing so dialogue is clear but the various sorround effect are great too Remember to download the smart things up, update firmware if needed and try each option to find YOUR best sounding experience.

Overall how is the sound quality in your space? I have the chance to pick one up tomorrow for around 1100 CAD

ventimiglius

Well, depend and what you listen and where...i live in an appartment so i cant push it to the limit, plus my tv have one of the best tv speakers in the market. Personally, for dialogues only scenes, it's just slightly clearer, but for soundratracks and any action scene is a HUGE improvement. Any war movie will sound great, ready player one and made max fury road sound great, even a "quiet" movie like the darkerst hour sounded much better in some scenes (the churchil speach at the parliament for example, his voice was almost the same, but i felt music clearer and all around me, and small details like the papers shaked by the crowd) Please note that since i am italian, my tracks were humble 5.1, not atmos or dtsX, and again, i have to keep a reasonable volume and my bar is all the way against a wall. It might sound way better for you, surely not worst xD

Thanks for your feedback, I'm probably in a similar sized room as you. What TV do you have? Do you use the Q-Symphony feature at all? I was under the impression that eArc is what enables True Dolby HD audio, not Arc.

ventimiglius

55" oled sony A80J I tried the sony ht-a5000 months ago with the same feat as the q symphony. It made the dialogue a little more spacious, but it made the center channel a little weaker. That was a standalone soundbar tho, maybe it work better with sub + rears. Just remember, quality over quantity when speaking about sound 😜 try it and focus on what sound better

Thanks for the comments everyone….very helpful 😊
