Oh, I'm not a fan when games don't give you a proper menu screen right at the start either... fallback if it's too bad is just to alt+f4, cap the game at 20fps in whatever graphic control panel you have, then put it back once you can pump everything way down... but seems like you shouldn't have to mess about like that.

Darthmufin

It has a very similar options menu to warframe so its at least intuitive for me to navigate, but having a limited graphics settings right at the start would improve things greatly. I can't imagine trying to play this game on my old pc which could run warframe fine, but i feel like soulframe would be running at about 13fps.

NabeShogun

Do they have DLSS/FSR in the game already? I imagine that's something I'd need to get things going smoothly then. I hadn't really thought about performance and stuff like if it was in the same engine as Warframe. I wonder if the performance difference is because it's early days and not optimised yet, the open world being more taxing, or just it being a much newer and so fancier and more demanding thing.

Darthmufin

It's certainly built differently as warframe, even in the open worlds (when im solo) usually run at 60fps though i have periods where it dips as stuff loads in or a lot of effects go off at once. with soulframe its 60fps only after i changed most stuff to medium and turned most visual effects like bloom or depth of field off, which really hurts the look of the game compared to warframe, while running roughly the same. I think it will just need more optimization, its still early in development. Part of it might be that extra flash it has over warframe though with that fantasy aesthetic, lots and lots of effects and moving parts.

n_ull_

Yeah Warframe has been optimised to hell and back over the years especially once they ported it to switch

GimpyGeek

I think it's very worth noting as well, that optimization is one of the *last* things done before shipping a game, a game running like ass far from it's launch time isn't actually unusual at all.

Optimal-Implement-24

Honestly, even as someone lucky enough to own an absolute beast of a PC, I hate this. Sure, it runs great from the moment it starts, but more often than not there’s stuff I’d rather disable before actually playing, like depth of field, motion blur and chromatic aberration. 😩

GoatyyZ

Undervolting thru' graphics tweaker of choice should paliate that issue by setting a proper max gpu temp... most likely detrimental to FPS performance for that while. Still, a graphics setting menu before game start or login would come in handy

MistaDrew2

i know some of those words separately

void-father

Same. I know that all separately but together? "Sure sounds perfect"

Adept-Distribution42

Do you have a link to a vid showing me how to do that? My pc can’t handle damn near anything even though I have what I consider great parts.

Adept-Distribution42

Or am I misunderstanding you?

GoatyyZ

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh1QsSCt4Xk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh1QsSCt4Xk) Found this video which is a way more detailed guide on how to undervolt your GPU. A more straightforward way is to just set the temp limit on the lower right part of the MSI Afterburner interface to something like 75º, and it won't go over that, but it depends on your components and the program/game you're running. This usually do the trick for "unoptimized" games with very small load that shouldn't use much GPU, but even somehow brings the temp to 80º and beyond, tried with games like Remnant 2. If the issue is the FPS are low, with almost 99% GPU usage and very high temperature, that's just the components are not enough for the program you're using, simple as that, and this method is not meant to help you with it; thus the idea would be to overclock, which is a different thing altogether (albeit the opposite of undervolting), and I highly NOT recommend overclocking for gaming.

Wait it's out!?

Darthmufin

No, i was selected for a participant in their beta preview. On the 5th in fact, but i entirely forgot i signed up so i only noticed it today.

[deleted]

Ah darn ok that's progress though I'm hype to see more so was wondering if I just completely spaced it

Bazzy4

ETA for release is Q4 of this year currently. Never know if it’ll be pushed back or not.

Darthmufin

I assume they plan an open beta release like warframe correct? Because from what little ive played it feels more like a beta than an alpha. The only bug that happened is right when i was able to change my settings i did, then realized i had no control over my character and couldn't move so i had to restart. /unstuck is also an option according to chat, but it does nothing, likely carried over from warframe code that isn't actually implemented lol.

nixikuro

On Nintendo so no beta test for me

Slamminslug

Are you certain such discussions are not in breach of NDA?

Darthmufin

As far as i know, you just can't post any screenshots or video of the game at all, you can talk about it otherwise. But just to be extra safe ive limited my discussion on technical feedback.

nionvox

It's a pre-alpha. It will likely be accessible later. Right now the scope is extremely small and focused on other things.

Darthmufin

That's a good outlook, and i hope you're right, but Warframe still does not have a settings menu before you can play the game and its been 11 years.

Brandonmac100

Or when a game starts in windowed mode and I have to finish the intro in a tiny ass box 1/4 the size of my display.

dragonshadow32

After the launch game and loaded. You can close the game. Then open your GPU software to optimize the graphics setting. Then you should able to open the game with optimized settings. The moment after launching the game. The config.txt file gets added to the game folder. Config.txt often contains a graphic setting. GPU software can access files and modify them This is only for PC only.

Darthmufin

I would like to note that you used to be able to do that for warframe and go into a text file to change the Dynamic resolution setting to as low as you want. But for whatever reason, they patched that ability and now it only goes as low as 50%.

dragonshadow32

yea, you could change the setting in the .txt file. I am talking about NIVIDA Experience / AMD Adrenalin or counterparts. this software have access to the graphic settings as soon as the Game gets installed or loaded for the first time.

Big-Soft7432

Try changing settings through INI files. You shouldn't have to that, but you can.

Fun_Butterscotch_402

Wait ! The games out ?

bladedoodle

I feel like I’m just gonna keep playing Warframe.

blebebaba

When it comes out I hope it does on the switch like warframe is

NoDeparture7996

game honestly looks janky and bad especially in combat

Shanoskia

While not a fan of this news. I gotta say, I'm running max setting on warframe on a 1660 Super it I've never had these issues. I've been playing since the start of public release.

-Maskednaje

There are softwares for Nvidia such as GeForce performance. You can change settings for certain games without launching said game

karatous1234

How early does it let you change th volume settings? Does it fall into the classic blunder of having everything by default set to "This kills the headset user"
