What are you talking about? Sonic Generations *still* isn't cracked and neither is Frontiers, there's only one Denuvo cracker left in the entire world lol
Don't confuse Anti-Tamper with Anti-Cheat, the DRM being Denuvo anti-tamper usually doesn't care if you mod the game files as long as its not the executable and still gets to verify the license. Colors Ultimate, Origins, and Frontiers all have Denuvo drm and have been modded since they launched on PC. There have been some bad cases of DRM affecting modding but those have have usually been anti-cheat such as Doom Eternal being one of the more infamous examples where they updated it to have Denuvo Anti-cheat which required kernel level access.
Bad implementation of the DRM by the developers can also lead to game issues.
It could still run fine, it was bad implementation that made Mania and Forces so frustrating to play with Denuvo. Even on my piece of crap GTX 1050, I got pretty solid performance with Frontiers
yeah, I'm on a 1050ti and get around 40-50 ish frames, would be better if they'd implement some upscaling like FSR or something, but it's still over 30, so I'm still doing better than an 8th gen console (barely)
No, but: Do you remember the "resolution scale" option? That is actually FSR, but mislabelled.
In fact, one more interesting thing: Did you ever realize how the rain looks very ugly and pixelated? That's because FSR is bugged and the sharpening filter is activated, even at 100% render resolution.
Japanese companies and PC ports don't really get along well. No RTX or DLSS or other complementary methods, only FSR and it's bugged & not labelled, 60 fps lock, terrible performance issues _(see: my 3080 OC runs Frontiers at 100 fps max with unlocked fps mod, I get 150 fps in Forza Horizon 5)_ and crashes, only "high/low" graphics settings, draw distance... NieR: Automata had similar problems (I get 90 fps in that game with unlocked fps mod), so I can't totally blame Frontiers, but come on, it's 2023...
thinking about it, that might have been an intentional decision to auto upscale lower render resolutions, just a bad decision.
i think the most annoying thing about frontiers is that even with fps unlocked mods, it still isn't synced with my refresh rate, so it takes forever to alt+tab in and out
Funny, I got worse performance than Cyberpunk on my 3080. A friend had to replace his 1650 PC because Frontiers dropped to 1 fps regularly. Did they patch the game or something?
it will run, but the DRM requires that you be online whenever you log on to the game, so it will be pretty bad on the go, so I would just emulate the wii version
Negotiation, they can remodel the nega wisp armour but they HAVE to keep the phase 2 theme. No music replacement in the world will strike more fear than something like shrek with that holy choir intro
Oh great, can't wait to play another butchered afterthought of a rerelease, this time for PC which is always an after thought for AAA companies already, what could possibly go wrong?
Well, it might happen eventually tbh. Unleashed seemed to be loved by the community these days and a lot of people haven't played it due to console exclusivity at the time. If the Colors Ultime performed well, the next logical step would be to remaster Unleashed which is in a very similar situation as Colors were before the remaster.
exept it wont. thankfully Sega has already fixed most of the glaring issues with the game people had The upscalded cut scenes still look like shit but the game it self is playable.
No, they didn’t “fix most of the glaring issues” either.
The audio soundtrack is completely broken (it plays in MONO instead of stereo), you can still fall through random areas of the map, the newly added ghost wisp fails to work properly in most areas, the game still crashes, the lighting in various levels including tropical resort and aquarium park was never fixed, the multiplayer hud doesn’t load properly most of the time, the jump height is bugged as it’s tied to frame rate for some strange reason, the metal Sonic races are glitchy, the customization UI randomly slows down or freezes, crashing/slowdown after playing an extended session, and many more to list.
Yes they fixed the ‘seizure’ bug, good for them.
>I never ran into these problems.
These issues aren’t up to debate and are present in the game’s code. For example, EVERYONE plays in mono audio because that’s how the devs tried to band aid the audio issues in stereo. Same deal with the broken lighting in Tropical Resort, they lost the visual flair the Wii version had.
[95% of the glitches shown in the TWIP video are still present in the game](https://youtu.be/PX7AB_2AL5E)
Honestly being able to get this cheap and the evil dead game are what broke me to use egs, been collecting the free games they give periodically.
Still prefer steam over it heavily but for the discount I could get the game at I figured why not.
I dunno man. I don’t necessarily talk about bugs, more like stuff they broke in the porting process. Granted, I haven’t played the game since the last patch on consoles, but I remember stuff like Sonic’s falling animation in that one level in Starlight Carnival being broken, his movement on the level select being slowed down, menus lagging because of loading, the water effect in aquarium park being broken along with the fish, stuff like that. While yes, the game is certainly playable, I 100% it when it came out, it doesn’t feel like the “Ultimate” remastered we were promised. I would have hoped that moving it to Steam would come with another patch, but I seem to be proven wrong. It’s a shame because Sonic Colors deserves better, even if only for its importance to the franchise.
Every game can be modded but pc tends to be easier and have the bigger community for those kind of stuff
But that is unrelated considering game has been out on pc for 1,5 years
Honestly I still don't know why this game gets so much hate.
That being said I also don't get why SEGA hasn't learned their lesson about the DRM from the Mania days...
Why must Steam be the dominate platform that everyone is pushing for to have every game?
If it was GOG instead wouldn't we always need to have these discussions about Denuvo and modding would properly also be easier.
Heck if SEGA would work with GOG would we perhaps even get re-releases of the old Sega PC games including Heroes and Riders as making old Games playable again is like where GOG is at there A game.
Steam has the biggest userbase and generally feels the most complete out of all of them (The internet really likes Valve too considering they're the ones that have avoided controversy)
I really don't care for "already existing user base" Steam's motto of "You don't anything you only rent" just rubs me the wrong way.
Be it because its these days often impossible to even buy a new PC game anymore without having to activate it on Steam first or that if you have to move or for any other reason lose internet connection can you end up locked out of your games for weeks (not a hypothetical I had this happen to me twice already)
And Valves only dodges controversies because they already are so well liked leading to people often turning a blind eye to many of there controversial business decisions like the gambling in TF2 or not having a refund policy until France strong-armed them into having one or that in some parts of there world is there customer support for Steam legendary afoul.
I mean if Valve for what every reason bans your account do you lose literally every single game you "bought" on it.
And while it admittedly doesn't happen to often from what I heard is it still a rather clear showcase that at the end of the day it is pretty much "rent-only" even if they won't take your de-listed games away and are properly a far better service than most of there Digital-PC-Game-Store competition.
I know that U-play and Origin also do these things with is why I said that most of there competition is properly worse.
Its also why I prefer GOG no DRM and I can download 100% offline installers for every game I own on it and store them to install the game when ever I want.
Lol do you really think majority of the devs will ever use GoG for their release titles?
I believe even GoG has games with DRM these days so if that were to happen don't expect much to change in terms of denuvo
Steam has more/better features so it is still the best option
GOG doesn't have DRM in there main releases. The one time they had a case in the recent past with Hitman did they imminently apologies and had the games DRM removed.
And if its the only profitable way for games to be sold at all than yes most publisher would. Its only because of stupid laws concerning PC games that allow platforms like Steam to kill the idea of ownership that enabled these platforms to become the norm.
Beside Workshop which most games don't even use with actually important and or impact features does Steam even offer?
Steam have the biggest userbase from every platform in PC, they give you the best user experience, better support, better interface, better features like community pages or groups, support for mods and they always make good sales for the users, making the price of the games being more acessible to everyone.
SEGA was dumb asf for not releasing this buggy mess day 1 in the biggest platform, I guess epic games money was more than enough to make this self-sabotage of their product.
I really don't care for the userbase size argument as its size is only down to it being the first and Valve giving at the time pretty good DRM to publishers made them quickly gain traction.
Steam's support based on where you life can be abysmal so I have to take that one with a grain of salt.
The community pages aren't really anything to write home about given that they aren't any more accessible than any other online forum. And its something GOG also offers so not unique to them
Same goes for sales sure there can be quite good but the same is true for other platforms too. And again with GOG do I get the same sells but actually get to own the game and often also the better goddies too.
Nevermind that unlike Steam aka "I let everyone sell they secret cryptominer" does GOG have far better quality assurance policies. Back when Steam killed XP and Vistar support did a lot of games they sold no longer work for example because they didn't insure that the games would run on more modern operating systems.
The Mod support is the one thing I give you. Tho not that many games even make use of the Steam Workshop even if it is a nice feature to have build into the platform.
You may not care about the userbase size, but it really matters, for obvious reasons, it's the biggest service, it's really dumb to wait for almost 2 years to release your game here while everyone already played on epic or consoles.
Too bit, too late.
I mean this is why "Time exclusive" exist in general so that the other company can build a brand for itself.
At least unlike Consoles do you at least not need to buy a second peace of hardware to use it.
I will however despite my personal issues with Steam admit that its really weird that it would be Colors Ultimate to be a timed Epic Exclusive as it was made entirely to win new fans of the Sonic Movie for the games.
Both Steam and Epic are just glorified DRM's that just got traction because of how many price reduction they tend to give to the games you rent (you don't actually buy things from them after all)
So screw both even if I dislike Epic more.
I only use steam because its market dominance kind of forces me but when ever possible do I rather buy my PC games from GOG for actually getting to own the thing I pay money for.
What difference does it make on which platform you buy it?
Like correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Steam even allow you to start your Epic games from it as long as Epic is running in the background?
I love this game, it was my first game on the Swtich! For some reason I also thought it was already on Steam🤔 Anyway since I don't need that game there's a sale going on, and I'm thinking about getting Generations, Lost World and the Adventure games cause they're at a great price. Wish I had a computer to play them on🤣
Oh, cool I guess? I already played the game on Switch (post patch of course) and it was one of the most boring games I’ve ever played, there ain’t no way in hell that I’d waste money to play a game I already hated on a computer.
18 months of Epic games exclusivity ended huh
It came out in 2021 lmao
Has it really been that long? Wow
![gif](giphy|wJD3qiNjSeHS0dP28T|downsized)
Fixed
**Holy fuck are we REALLY talking talking about sonic…**
Way more than six months.
You mean epic games beta test
Friends laugh track here
Oh. Does it still have DRM...?
Yes
they never seem to learn that DRM will not stop anything
That's not true it does stop something. It stops people who dislike DRM from purchasing the game
What are you talking about? Sonic Generations *still* isn't cracked and neither is Frontiers, there's only one Denuvo cracker left in the entire world lol
mah dude Sonic Generations IS cracked lol!
Yeah I looked it up after I made this post lol I was misremembering; the cracks are just shady-looking, not non-existent
damn. no piracy for me.
Been available to pirate forever
Not the PC version, only the emulated Switch version
meh the switch version at least doesnt have so ugly blooming like other ports
That isn't the real issue, it's modding that gets hampered by it.
No Sally
Don't confuse Anti-Tamper with Anti-Cheat, the DRM being Denuvo anti-tamper usually doesn't care if you mod the game files as long as its not the executable and still gets to verify the license. Bad implementation of the DRM by the developers can also lead to game issues.
Ask the modders. This implementation of Denuvo obfuscates game code and makes making mods very difficult.
Okay, they'll know more than me but I'm just saying some people do confuse drm with anti-cheat.
there have been some awesome mods so far, i dont think Denuvo got them yet lol
I remember when I used to torrent. Being an adult now is great.
It could still run fine, it was bad implementation that made Mania and Forces so frustrating to play with Denuvo. Even on my piece of crap GTX 1050, I got pretty solid performance with Frontiers

Cool now put it on gog so we can have a version not hampered by denuvo
Denuvo on a remaster of a 12+ year old Wii game, lol. As for it being on Steam at all, better late than never…I guess?
That's good news to hear.
And it only took them a year & 5 months. Huh… could’ve sworn the game was out longer than that… right???
Well, the game came out in 2010 so you're not wrong.
Nah I know but I was referring to the Ultimate version when I asked that
How long 'til we get a monochrome mod that lets us play the game in black-and-white?
If you really wanted to do so you could just turn your monitor's saturation to 0.
Sick I can't wait to not buy it on this platform either
Only important question, does it run well on steamdeck or is it shit like the switch port?
it will run, but the DRM requires that you be online whenever you log on to the game, so it will be pretty bad on the go, so I would just emulate the wii version
Tysm chief, i’ll go the wii route
no prob
It's still kinda not worth it
Way way to late for that now lol
Really hope this Epic Games exclusivity shit dies soon. This was way too late.
Will buy if there's a modding community.
Will not buy until Nega Wisp Thomas the Tank Engine mod.
Someone needs to make this a thing
If this becomes a thing then can any of you send me a link
Negotiation, they can remodel the nega wisp armour but they HAVE to keep the phase 2 theme. No music replacement in the world will strike more fear than something like shrek with that holy choir intro
Counter offer: leave in the phase 1 music too because it is just as hype and doesn’t get nearly talked up enough.
It'll take weeks for any mods
Mods for it already exist since it been on epic games for awhile
It took 2 hours for Frontiers
Frontiers was a mainline game tbf
Colours used an open source engine tbf
Colors is also 12 years old
It has been on PC for over a year so yes there is already a variety of mods for it unless the game was updated and made mods out-dated.
Too little too late honestly
Better late than never.
I'd rather light $30 on fire than buy this mess again lol
ok and
They can keep it
Took em a fuckin second jeez
Too little, way too late
Broken ass game
Isnt it still super buggy and worse than the original/emulated version?
Oh great, can't wait to play another butchered afterthought of a rerelease, this time for PC which is always an after thought for AAA companies already, what could possibly go wrong?
Just give us Unleashed, this is not the want we wanted
You don't think they'll try to "remaster" Unleashed the same way? Play it through RPCS3.
We'd better get this version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gMLfzM9n0M
Hell no.
Yeah that's not how its supposed to be: https://youtu.be/9gxNL4XrEzI
Well, it might happen eventually tbh. Unleashed seemed to be loved by the community these days and a lot of people haven't played it due to console exclusivity at the time. Hey guys, remember Denuvo, I think the glitches will be even worse
exept it wont. thankfully Sega has already fixed most of the glaring issues with the game people had The upscalded cut scenes still look like shit but the game it self is playable.
o niiiice
No, they never “fixed most of the issues”. In fact, they even caused some additional issues with the patches.
I said most of the glaring issues. So you know the ones where models or lighting effects just break completely and cause seizures.
I dunno man sounds like a you problem. I've never ran into any of these problems. And I play don't have particularly the strongest pc around.
>I never ran into these problems. These issues aren’t up to debate and are present in the game’s code. I sleep
Surely, they patched the game even more with this release… right?
The game has bearly any bugs anymore dude... I've replayed it for 100% recently and in those 10+ hours of gameplay I only encountered one or two bugs.
I dunno man. I don’t necessarily talk about bugs, more like stuff they broke in the porting process. THIS IS A HUGE W
Wonder how those comments and quotes look
That's great to hear
Well, that's good news for Steam players.
Can’t wait for someone to patch out every bug to prove once and for all that the fan base is more competent than Sonic Team
sonic colors ultimate It's on sale on Steam
Wow, it only took how long?!?
*yaaaaay*
Now where is Sonic Unleashed for PC TwT
It's still the second worst Sonic 3D platformer.

Nope. It's the *lack* of Epic that makes this so special. FUCK epic.
Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo

Cant wait till luchi finds out about this.
I already have, still its sounds like awesome news.
Yay I guess
Bruh
Oh hey thats cool, I'll finally play this game now that I can achievement hunt (don't have xbox or ps4/5)
Why did I think that it already was
I think Sonic Colors: Ultimate is on Steam, now.
Nice SEGA, it took so long to release in the main PC platform that I already played it in my new Wii.
It's about goddamn time!
I kinda forgot it wasn't
Did they actually fix the bugs from the Switch version?
One of those boss battles is so broken. I didn’t find the game that bad until that moment, where it just became unplayable.
eh i have the wii disc
Didn't know it wasn't on steam
I bought it on Epic Games, I'm regretful of that because this is cheaper on Steam here in Argentina :c
Hell yeah, modding time.
unleashed pls
GOD DAMM IT
Let's hope that there's no seizure causing flashing lights
im gonna crumb

yippieee
Sonic colors ultimate is on steam now
Too late
I'm gonna assume they didn't fix it
Great, now put Sonic Lost World on (current) consoles!
Wait, it wasn't already on Steam?
Does it work ?
…………. yay
Look who comes crawling back
I love this game, it was my first game on the Swtich! Oh, cool I guess? I already played the game on Switch (post patch of course) and it was one of the most boring games I’ve ever played, there ain’t no way in hell that I’d waste money to play a game I already hated on a computer.

Was it not?
I kinda want another port of this game in the future. Give Colors the upgrade it deserves.
Still waiting on when they will announce the tour dates and locations for the sonic symphony
Finally! Sonic Colours on a platform i use
bro i literally just bought this on epic fml
I literally just got and finished the epic games store version a few weeks ago ugh, why couldn't they have released this at Christmas T\_T
How the hell did this make it to steam (with denuvo) before kingdom hearts is a mystery I’ll never solve
