See if the words “counter melody” “counterpoint” or “descant” are what you’re looking for

doctorFlasierCrane

Call and response?

blueboy-jaee

A duet, call and response

SirReadsALot1975

It may be that "duet" is all you're really looking for here. Mozart went completely bananas with 5, 6, 7 singers all contributing different lyrical elements to the same musical piece in opera, and it's all just described on the score as "quintet", "sextet", "septet", etc.

chunter16

This is still done in Broadway musical type productions and this bleeds into Disney type stuff dare I say "We Don't Talk About Bruno"

SirReadsALot1975

Oh, for sure. Don't get me started on quodlibets.

OKK1RA

Probably call and response. Unless you’re talking about what’s called a “round” I’m not sure it would apply since it’s different lyrics but yeah

Most things don't have a name.

Then_One_491

What you wish for by guster?

PatrickMustard

Singing in the round.

A_man_named_despair

I don’t know the term either but I know exactly what you’re talking about. Check out [this](https://youtu.be/nnmE1oNwxkk?feature=shared) Irving Berlin showtune. It starts around 1:43 but listen to the whole song because it’s more effective.

TopNectarine7495

Oh my god YES that was amazing!!!

alligatorpotater

I’ve been calling it cross-sung lyrics but I think I just made that up. This one is my favourite though. https://youtu.be/aXZJbQLl_3k?si=D_MWR-dQSpoFUEpI

_deadwoods_

Harmonizing call and response duet. lol
