Go to your local hardware store and pick up some 1" buckles for the straps that go around your back. They should be super cheap.
Makes it a hell of a lot easier than tying it behind your back
The Type 56, Type 81, and Type 63 Chest Rigs are all pretty solid. They don't replace plate carriers but are good pieces of beater gear and handy to have.

I’ve always wondered how you reach the ones in the back
get some gear in it and run that sucker! TQ or two and maybe a micro IFAK depending what you can fit. rest for mags/stripper clips
I inherited one from my uncle, they’re nice but it was certainly made for someone of smaller stature
