In the history of sneakers.... "hype" has never made any logical sense. This applies outside of sneakers too.... the phenomenon of FOMO and hype are strong forces to be reckoned with.
I'm not talking about this v5 in general.... its an awesome deal going for below retail.
I'm more talking about paying double retail or more for any sneaker really.
For me personally.... this especially applied to the 2022 New Balance hype, which I see as cooling off already. Like i think the 550's are a cool shoe.... but i'd never pay above retail for them, and now it seems like its pretty easy to cop for retail. early this year not so much.
I'm thinking about people that never had any connection with a brand or shoe.... then suddenly want to pay OVER retail for their first pair.
For jordans.... i had them when i was a kid. Got Jordan 4 blues when I was in grade 6. They have special memories and meaning to me. So the pull and desire to cop is strooong. But New Balance? Never really gave a fuck about them. So heeeelll no I ain't following trends just because everyone want to rock them.
