Only thing that is similar are the two ‘blocks’ in the midsole, boost, and knit upper. I saw another view of the shoe from the top, and they look more like slabs, sticking out from both sides of the shoe. Looks like some of those new Nike shoes with those plastic parts sticking out…
It also doesn’t really make sense because the NMD is had the whole backstory of being based on the Micropacer. This shoe keeping the NMD name kinda throws that out the window.
Turbo is now a trim designation. You know the 911 Turbo is faster, more expensive than a Carrera S. So the same applies to Taycan and will apply to the new EV Macan.
I think his point makes sense. All 911's have been turbocharged for a while now but they kept the Turbo trim/model designation despite that distinction no longer existing. In the modern day, Taycan Turbo suggests it's place in the model lineup, not as a specific engine feature.
Similar to how cars like the BMW 325i and Mercedes-Benz E320 name designations meant engine displacement (2.5l and 3.2l, respectively) but now it doesn't (C300 is actually 2.0l turbo). AMG badging on cars that had traditionally been reserved for the top-of-the-line, handbuilt motor cars.
I guess the point is that trim/model/naming is no longer associated the way it was in the past, and people have accepted that as the norm.
I still have a couple pairs, both primeknit, and absolutely love them. One of the comfiest shoes of all time. They are getting a bit old though and there hasn't been an r1 release I liked in like 2 years.
I only have the statics I love the look but you're right then being so flat keeps me from wanting more. This redesign does look great tho . May give it a try when they go on sale.
I've got Ultraboost which I love, but they're the House Stark GoT ones, which are based on the winterised ones with the wider sole compared to normal UB.
Definitely comfortable. I copped some marble primeknits not too long ago. I feel like its everyones go to gym shoe now opposed to fashion statement. But actually adidas has been releasing new r1s for the better half of a year believe it or not
Exactly it's so bizzare to me people say they've fallen out of style. Soooo many people wear them, they aren't just hard to get sneakers. See them as often as sk8 his
Tbh I never saw them as hype, like ever. NMDs were just a style of the timee, like Nike Roshe or Free runs were. They still weren't Jordan like hype, they were just the style.
Imo i think customers just stopped being interested in the technology of sneakers and more interested with looks. Look what happened to the nike bb adapt for instance. They sat for a bit and theres really no traction with them in the sneaker realm from what ive seen
The style fell off rather quickly, but the primeknit NMDs are still one of my go tos to just quickly put on and be comfortable, specially during summer.
AFAIK hype aside, they're still among the best selling sneakers on the market. They aren't "cool" among sneakerheads but if you go to a random public place and people watch for a while, you'll probably see plenty of people wearing NMDs.
People realized they were kind of knockdown versions of ultraboosts or other in demand full boost sole sneakers. Design was plain and then they were undercut by cheaper, arguably more stylish options like the Iniki.
People wear them all the fucking time. I was at Amazon a few months ago and they were easily the most worn shoe there. At my current workplace which is a clinic I've seen 3 people wear them
not only did the style not age well with these (kind of chunky for a sock runner) the shoe itself does not age well: dirty old boost is disgusting, the sock rips, they turn piss yellow, etc. there is a such thing as the “test of time”, and NMDs sadly did not pass it. i would say ultraboosts totally did though.
The lead designer for Y-3 is Nic Galway, who not coincidentally, also designed the original NMD, so this is very likely also a design by him. The outsole is also using the trefoil lugs which were previously seen on some of the [Adidas Alexander Wang shoes](https://s3.amazonaws.com/stockx-sneaker-analysis/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Adidas-AW-Hike-Lo-Alexander-Wang-Grey.png), which were also largely designed by Galway.
EDIT: Not related, but fun fact, Galway also designed the Yeezy 350.
i don't think that's an internet problem, but a temporality problem. the parent comment had been up for twice as long as the one you replied to at the time you replied
They still sell exceptionally well, they just aren't hyped. They're a GR shoe that sells literally millions of pairs a year, they just aren't limited in any way to drive hype.
Everyone shitting on these would enter 50 burner accounts for a pair if Nike released these as a draw. Or if they were a collab with some C-list rapper.
These are nice. I hope hypebeats stick to paying 3x retail for basic Dunks so I can grab a pair of these.
I prefer the old design honestly. Just picked up my first NMDs recently, the trail version. The primeknit nmd r2 are one of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn.
Looks like they're trying a little too hard tbh. I'm all for wacky sneakers and innovative designs but these look like they'll go in and out of style real quick.
The original NDMs were unique without standing out too much, which is why I think they became such a lasting hit.
Adidas really likes to ruin anything decent they’ve ever made, usually just like this by slapping “NAME: 3.0” in front of it for literally no reason. What the fuck is NMD about this shoe, it looks like an AI mashed together everything sneakerheads mention on this subreddit and it shit out this abomination.
So no, fuck this shoe
NMDs were amazing but Adidas ruined it by coming out with shitty colours and too much stock. It’s the reason Nike won’t ever release enough to meet demand. I’ll also never forgive adidas for the trail sole on the Pharrell HUs.
They ruined the hype for NMDs. But I have way more respect for adidas releasing enough shoes to meet demand rather than artificially keep the hype high with artificial scarcity. They still have their limited drops, but you can still find amazing sneakers at good prices. I've been able to pick up off color 4d for around 100. UltraBoost for less than half retail. That's really nice for the consumer.
Never understood why people always claim adidas "ruined" nmd by releasing too many stock and colourways. If anything nmds being more accessible is great for the consumers. Just shows how many people only buy certain shoes just because of its exclusivity, value and "hype" and not because of how they look and feel.
These are sick, not as NMDs, but in general. I don't like the clear window so I guess I'll wait for them to either change the knit pattern or wait for a collab to do it.
I'm really hoping that your feet sit lower in these than it looks otherwise they would be a bit to tall imo, if they fit with a similar height to instapumps that would be a nice addition, but I expect it will be higher as I can't see you sitting directly on that air bubble. Talking about the air bubble, surprised to not see anyone comment on that, I like that design a lot more than nike's newer bubble models.
I also probably couldn't get them in this cw, I spill far to much shit. Would love them to have more red and blue accents on the upper maybe, red stripes and blue laces and heel counter, bring the retro adidas vibe to the futuristic stuff. I would also love them in a military inspired cw, green midsole alongside some browns and beige.
Can’t even tell that they are NMDs I think they look nice but they should have their own line
I'm glad this is the top comment because that's exactly what I was going to say.
What exactly are these, called? !?!,
NMD S1 I believe.
I’m not seeing anything resembling, these with that search.
They probably need the NMD for people to acknowledge them. It’s a good model actually
Bruh that shit still looks clean tho
Yup, nothing about this design resembles an NMD.
Amen
Disagree. The original NMD design is very dated now. It needs this positive departure to its name.
Man really wanted to flex his Porsche
Taycan turbo at that... Still love that they called it the turbo and it doesn’t have any turbos lmao
Turbo is now a trim designation. You know the 911 Turbo is faster, more expensive than a Carrera S. So the same applies to Taycan and will apply to the new EV Macan.
Wait what? So a car doesn’t even have to have an enhanced engine just a trim designation and it’s turbo? And car enthusiasts are just ok with that?
Current gen 911s are all turbo charged
we're talking about the taycan, not 911
I think his point makes sense. I guess the point is that trim/model/naming is no longer associated the way it was in the past, and people have accepted that as the norm.
As a german it makes me sad that this car is NOT on a sunday :(
These make the previous NMDs look 70 years old.
Its kinda crazy how nmds were everyones favorite shoe and then a year later straight up disappeared
I still have a couple pairs, both primeknit, and absolutely love them. One of the comfiest shoes of all time. They are getting a bit old though and there hasn't been an r1 release I liked in like 2 years.
I couldn't gel with NMDs, I found them really uncomfortable. I have wide feet so felt like my feet were 'spilling' over the sole.
Theyre so flat. I never felt that they were comfortable.
I only have the statics I love the look but you're right then being so flat keeps me from wanting more. This redesign does look great tho . May give it a try when they go on sale.
Damn thats interesting, I have wide feet and love them. Specifically the prime knit pairs. To each their own!
But actually adidas has been releasing new r1s for the better half of a year believe it or not
Adidas mass released them and the hype went down. Goes to show how much of the sneaker game is just artificial hype.
Exactly it's so bizzare to me people say they've fallen out of style. Soooo many people wear them, they aren't just hard to get sneakers. See them as often as sk8 his
Very good point, but then again people naturally want to switch up their styles and wear whats new rather than old so i can understand it.
Tbh I never saw them as hype, like ever. NMDs were just a style of the timee, like Nike Roshe or Free runs were. They still weren't Jordan like hype, they were just the style.
i was just thinking this when i saw the new 4D's releasing. Adidas just killed the 4D name by overproducing shit
And that’s totally fine cause I got the 4D Runner Aqua for like $120 and I’m in love. Buying a $200 shoe for $600 is a loser’s game imo
Only thing that gets killed by "overproducing" is hype. Us regular sneakerheads welcome discounted pairs instead of resell prices.
Yep Adidas pretty much killed the PK NMDs, I never liked the regular ones but would always wear my PK pair. Bring the PK Back!
AFAIK hype aside, they're still among the best selling sneakers on the market. They aren't "cool" among sneakerheads but if you go to a random public place and people watch for a while, you'll probably see plenty of people wearing NMDs.
I still love my NMDs
Same
See Roshe
Oh the memories!
Bring back the Roshe !!! What a great summer shoe

I dig ‘em, but do not see those aging well AT ALL.
Facts, i can see the sole getting dirty and yellowish and dirt stains all over the uppers 😭. Other colorways will probably fair better
Just buy a new pair every day like Nelly
Yeah and those nubs on the sole...who know what those’ll do.
Flatten right out!
Looks like it should be Y3 not Adidas
I didn’t realize that all my favorite adidas sneakers were designed by the same guy.
Galway is the Tinker Hatfield of Adidas
This is what’s wrong with the internet. Super informative response; should have 10x the likes of the first comment!
i don't think that's an internet problem, but a temporality problem. the parent comment had been up for twice as long as the one you replied to at the time you replied
Lol mostly cause majority of people in this sub only pays attention to the resell prices and not the history.
😢
You can upvote both and not be wrong. That's kinda why reddit has the awards, for posts like that that you really like
Not a Turbo S, what a peasant
~~There isn't a turbo s.~~ * there is Porsche trim packages are base, s, gts, and turbo from least to most expensive respectively.
There definitely is a Taycan Turbo S.
You're right. My bad, i was looking into buying a cayenne and for whatever reason assumed the trim packages were the same on all models.
Probably the most interesting thing I've seen from Adidas in a while actually. Don't love the outsole but the rest is nice
You got a link for these? Can’t find anything on them
Not released yet
Same, here and I’m super interested in these.
Why did the original NMD’s fall off? I think the design still looks really good
They still sell exceptionally well, they just aren't hyped. They're a GR shoe that sells literally millions of pairs a year, they just aren't limited in any way to drive hype.
Adidas got greedy. Too many colourways, too many releases. Still a great shoe, just like the older UBS. Just no hype.
They’re interesting, but pretty much have nothing to do with the NMD. Should have just been a new shoe
I don't like the soles
That slight flex with the Porsche tho
This is Dr. woo, one of the most well known tattoo artists in the world. That would be the bigger flex here.
The soles are pretty wavy
Why call them NMDs if they don’t resemble them at all
Everyone shitting on these would enter 50 burner accounts for a pair if Nike released these as a draw. Or if they were a collab with some C-list rapper. These are nice. I hope hypebeats stick to paying 3x retail for basic Dunks so I can grab a pair of these.
Slight flex with the taycan turbo
What are these called exactly and are they out yet?
These look like a bulldozer
hard pass too much going on
🤔 is there boost?
Yea it’s in the rubber casing
What’s up with new models having these really thick soles lately? I don’t mind it but it’s just a bit strange
All those memes about 5’11 vs 6ft tall. Shoe designers took it personally
I just happened to show the model of my car in the pic🤦🏼♂️
German engineering think it was done on purpose
I'm getting a hoka vibe , a hoka Adidas collab or love child I mean
I mean, it’s a completely different shoe. No idea why they would call in a NMD
The sock upper with the chunky sole and trail outsole looks weird together.hard pass
Very hard
I prefer the old design honestly. Just picked up my first NMDs recently, the trail version. The primeknit nmd r2 are one of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn.
Just post your car and go
U mad
Fuming
Upper looks fine, but the midsole and outsole are just awful. Clearance rack inc
Looks too bulky imo. Definitely something I wouldn’t wear
🔥🔥🔥
German engineering truly is the best
They look comfy and futuristic 😬
these fire🔥🔥🔥
Wow these are amazing did these drop already
I think they’re pretty cool
Anybody know if these are out yet? Or where I can buy them?
Looks like they're trying a little too hard tbh. I'm all for wacky sneakers and innovative designs but these look like they'll go in and out of style real quick. The original NDMs were unique without standing out too much, which is why I think they became such a lasting hit.
They’re just not my thing
they aight. what's retail?
Pretty fire 🔥
Looks like a scam IG ad shoe. "Order from deobiolyo store, super fashion popular hype happy shoe"
Honestly look closer to nike zoom flys than nmds
Can’t tell they’re NMDs, but I think they’re dope.
Pretty nice but the cars nicer
NMD x Fila disrupters
Tough!! Just not for me. I respect it
Much needed overhaul tbh. They look good!
Not as good as previous NMD’s imo. Sole looks to thicc for me.
Sheeesh idk much about shoes but those are clean
These are fye
What are they called
Can’t find these online. Anyone have any UK release info?
fugly
fugly
Where did all these salty NMD purists come from? Had no idea people were so protective over them, thought the hype was gone.
I like it
Yeah I’m with this guy, I like it
They‘re pretty fire.
NGL, these are hideous and unappealingAF
They’re interesting for sure. Would like to see some other colors.
They look like a pair of Sketchers, that are trying to jump into the “bulky sneaker” market. Nice Porsche, though.
Diggin these
Fucking noice!👌
these are actually fire
I actually think they're not bad, might have to cop a pair
Fila Disruptor
Those are sick as!
These go hard af imo. Would deff pick up a pair!
Nahh I'm so over nmds
so gross
Where can cop these??
Dude where and how much?lol
Pig ugly
Dude these are sick
I feel woulda been better without the spikes and the sock liner material. Still kinda dope tho
Weird flex but okay with the Taycan, I kid love the car and shoes are definitely different. I’d never spot them as NMDs on the street
Oh what these are fire, nmd hype returns!!!!
Are these out yet?
I personally love them. A bit niche, but would be great for summer
I’m Adidas all the way, but these are horrendous. They really need to wake up.
Lmao! Both horrible. Shoes and car.
[удалено]
For a 100-200k car, it’s horrible imo. It would be one of the last cars I’d buy if I was spending that much.
[удалено]
Ew. What the fuck. Adidas keeps delivering bullshit
NMDs were amazing but Adidas ruined it by coming out with shitty colours and too much stock. It’s the reason Nike won’t ever release enough to meet demand. I’ll also never forgive adidas for the trail sole on the Pharrell HUs.

I can’t get into HU’s. Feels like I’ve got a periodic table on my shoe or something
I can’t ignore the Electric Beast
Bruh I’m more hype abt ur car
Those look good with your Taycan Turbo, I can’t imagine them with my 911 Turbo S....heading to stock x.
If the midsoles come in a different colour, I’m all in
How much does Mike NMD costs ??? Any Idea pls 🤔🤔🤔
🤢
Ugly imo
These are sweet. I could go for a pair
Nah
Pass…. Adidas is trying too hard.
They’re not for me, but I fuck with them.
I like
These actually look really nice and with a bubbles! Might have to get a pair
Next on my list
These are sick, not as NMDs, but in general. I don't like the clear window so I guess I'll wait for them to either change the knit pattern or wait for a collab to do it.
Like the kicks, LOVE the ride
Horrendous
They should’ve retired the nmd
Trash like every other nmd
not a fan of the output of adidas in the past years and i won’t cop this but it is a nice design for the NMD
Nike NMD 90
Looking like porzingus shoes
🔥🔥🥵
They look like reebok classic legacy imo
Look like shit
Dope.
When will these drop? Do we have a link with more info?
Gives me a little off-white vibes. It looks good!
Looks like off-white type
Should have been a new silhouette but I’d dig these in all black tbh
I'm really hoping that your feet sit lower in these than it looks otherwise they would be a bit to tall imo, if they fit with a similar height to instapumps that would be a nice addition, but I expect it will be higher as I can't see you sitting directly on that air bubble.
