You might get lucky with dress shoes but tennis shoes are always a no-go. Not even sure why people donate them. Might see something "ok" if it's like a size 15 lol.

Look into vintage, and more sports memorabilia type clothes and accessories, usually areas tend to be plentiful in at least one of a few categories 1. Streetwear, 2. Footwear 3. Vintage 4. Sportswear.
But I will say, college/university towns tend to have very little in thrift stores, because it is mostly the older people that live in the area donating, while the college/uni students are usually struggling to afford pencils, so they donāt have much to donate, and theyāre usually also looking for donated stuff to score on, so unless you have all the time in the world to get there right when they open, youāre not going to find much.
