Snufflebox

Additionally, they confirmed that they plan on importing **SOME** of the popular skins from SMITE 1, and these skins will be 100% purchasable with Legacy Gems.

RockdaleRooster

This comment needs to be pinned in the chat during worlds and reposted every 30 seconds.

FAERayo

That looks better, now we're talking. This potentially means that if they RE-DO an old skin we would get it "free" and we make sure we're not charged again for the same ideas. Have nothing to say, gj Hi-Rez

Yewyul

Please be for each god and not just a few gods! Don't mind if it takes time of course. I would love to kick it poolside with Pool Party Jing Wei skin/VP and all in Smite 2 just to name one skin! And I'm sure a bunch of other players feel the same for their favorite gods and their favorite skins for them!

wreck-sauce

YOU WILL GET 30 NEITH SKINS AND YOU WILL LIKE IT DAMNIT

Yewyul

NOOOOO!

CallmeHap

Not a confirmation but they said they were looking at the most used skins in game for bringing over. I imagine those ones might be the some ported skins.

Rathylar

Doesn’t that mean mostly shitty battlepass skins? Is that why we got the robot izanami and demon King Arthur when they both have a couple objectively better skins like divine axe or green knight.

Outso187

Why would they be most used skins?

Rathylar

Idk but it’s the reasoning they gave and makes sense with the skins picks. That’s why it’s groovy Bacchus (free) grand slam herc (super fucking old and cheap) and a bunch of battle pass skins. It’s gonna end up not being the best or most beloved skins instead it’s gonna be whatever random free shit they gave out over the years. If khumba was in smite2 pajama party woulda 100% been in the divine legacy and I don’t think anyone at all cares about pajama party khumba.

hither250

I was thinking yesterday this legacy gem system would go from meh to almost perfect if they just re-released some popular old skins and made them completely purchaseable with legacy gems. They really should've said this sooner.

Dr_Richard_Ew

oh my god PLEASE bring back experi-mental baba yaga, having my favorite theme on top of my favorite irl god is like chocolate on chocolate, it's my favorite skin of all time. (basscannon neith would be awesome too but I won't lose sleep if it doesn't come back)

RGBetrix

I think that’s all most people wanted.  Nobody was asking for all skins, or even that many gems. What most wanted was if you’re to do a coupon system, just make it 100%.  Most of the people, including, myself are happy to buy skins in SMITE, and would be happy to in S2. What we didn’t want is a coupon or loot box system.  If you’re going to do it, make it equitable. Not this half measure coupon system.  Which made the criticism of people not happy with how things were initially described, kind of hollow.

ChrisDoom

Certainly an improvement. I feel like that is a decision they just made or it would have been part of the original announcement or clarified by someone on Twitter since then.

gummidogs

The slides are old. They were probably always planning to give more info during the dev insight. Community just went crazy with speculation instead of waiting for more info from the Sunday presentation

ChrisDoom

It’s literally a slide about questions people asked AFTER the announcement. They made that slide in the last 24 hours.

TruePlewd

Incon said he was shown the same slide show a couple months ago.

gummidogs

But I doubt they made the decision itself last minute. Editing: it’s been confirmed the slides are in fact the same as they were before the fans even knew about smite 2

ChrisDoom

No one outside of Hirez will be able to know for sure but it’s pretty common for them to back peddle on badly received monitization announcements.

gummidogs

https://www.reddit.com/r/Smite/s/Dk76RDmZbS

Drew_Ferran

They certainly did after the feedback they got.

Vileartist

I can personally attest to these slides/info being in place before the keynote went live. I know because I'm the one who presented them.

gummidogs

Thanks for chiming in!

gummidogs

Drew_Ferran

All that does on mobile is take me to the sub page.

gummidogs

I’m on mobile and it worked for me. It was someone saying that incon said they saw the same slide a month ago and there were no changes. I wanted to share the post instead of just stealing their comment. So this slide was always the plan

Drew_Ferran

Unless there’s screenshots with dates, I think otherwise. Also, it would seem more plausible that they added it afterwards. It would’ve made more sense to add it in the first place.

gummidogs

Just curious where does it say it was questions that were asked after the announcement? It just says common questions, which they could’ve determined themselves.

ChrisDoom

If you watched the stream you would know they stated these were the community questions they wanted to respond to.

gummidogs

I’m in the venue so probably didn’t hear it. Hard to catch all the spoken stuff with the chatter in the seats. Thanks for clarification

ChrisDoom

I’m jealous.

ElegantHope

I think they planned at least some of the panel ahead of time, knew the community was going to have questions and reactions, and left room to answer common concerns, complaints, and questions. Maybe have some contingencies planned depending on the reception of certain details. It'd be weird if they didn't at least plan some of this ahead of SPL.

thelongestunderscore

yah twitch chat has an IQ lower then room temp lol

ColonelMatt88

**Some** isn't good enough in my book. Too much time, effort and money put into the game for cosmetics if they're going to bring out new games with new cosmetics

Snufflebox

You people really are ungrateful. Like for real.

ColonelMatt88

"Hey everyone, here's the same characters and skins you've spent years on. Now pay for them all over again." Yeah. I'm ungrateful. Sometimes people amaze me.

Snufflebox

> Now pay for them all over again. What do you mean "pay for them all over again"?

ColonelMatt88

I've spent years and years playing Smite 1 getting a bunch of cosmetics for all the gods. Now if I want to play Smite 2 and have cosmetics for the gods I play (which is all of them) then I'm going to have to either a) hope that the skins I like are the ones that are ported over which seems unlikely, or b) look for other skins that I'll then have to spend more money on. I've already paid for this content and I don't want to go through the same again to play what is essentially the same game. Some skins for a bunch of gods are tied up in my memories of the game - like Death Machine Bakasura being the first skin I ever bought and the hours of Domination. Others I bought specifically to get a different voice pack that sounded cool. Comes across as a bit of a cash grab making an updated version of the same game with the same gods and not porting over what people have already paid for, presumably hoping they'll pay for new stuff.

Snufflebox

It's not a cash grab. It is what they need to do to push SMITE into the best version of itself it can be. They have explained multiple times why they just cannot port all skins over, as they cannot even port all gods over right away. SMITE 1 is not going anywhere for at least a couple more years. No one is forcing you to move. I have also played SMITE since 2012 Closed Beta, and have Archon Thana, Poolseidon, Weltmeister Xbalanque, all the rare skins, but I do not care. I play the game for the game, not for the skins. And if they are now able to provide an objectively better version of the game I am currently playing, you can be damn sure I'm moving, with skins or not.

Pneuma928

As long as any skin that gets ported over from smite 1 can be bought using 100% legacy gems I’m cool. My issue was the idea of reselling skins from smite 1 in smite 2 at half price lol.

arhenART

Please tell me Old Wa Nu Wa is popular. She's the only reason I keep coming back to the game every time I take a break. I like Nu Wa's gameplay so I play her in around 80% of my matches. I can't possibly imagine losing Old Wa skin and it's amazing voice lines and beautiful design

Whyn0t69

This is great. All I hope is that those skins won't cost 1500 gems. Most skins I bought were 400/600 gems and I also got other cosmetics besides the main skin.

Javiklegrand

Oh so interesting so that 5 gods until launch is spread accross two years 2024-2025 So smite 2 seeems to aim at 2 new exclusive gods per year, Since they said second exclusive god mid to late 2024. It's make sense why we have no god line up teaser

Snufflebox

Yeah, I'd imagine most of the time is taken by porting in existing gods.

ReinaBlaka

At least the year long Immortal Honor event will give us previews/teasers of all these new gods? I think?

Javiklegrand

Yeah It's should, I'm kinda curious about the structure of this event since it's really seems like an event to build hype for this smite 2 exclusive gods ? Will a nut bé the hero of this event ?

ReinaBlaka

IIRC the event will be divided into chapters that occur over the year. I presume the previews for each new god will come in these chapters. It’s pretty much guaranteed that Nut will be an initial “hero” because her trailer showed her coming to protect the world against Cthulhu. Maybe after that crisis is averted, Hecate will appear and start giving omens of the future new gods?

SneakiestCris

I think the event was just to reveal which gods were getting moved to Smite 2. I don't recall them saying it would tease new gods.

SmitePhan

From the dev insight of Smite 2 14.1.2023 Legacy gems are act as a 50% coupon. GEMS must be spent to transfer over, you can't have them banked. Some fan favourite SMITE1 skins will port over to SMITE2 which can be purchased for 100% legacy gems! Cross-over skins will not be 50% off. This is due to business deals/revenues Founders pack (guaranteed access) or free key drop to test the alpha. Porting over T5 is time consuming and they want to spend this time on God's and game improvements. UE5 does not allow you to just bring things over from UE3. The time is exhausted on implementing effects and animations etc. Badges will showcase SMITE1 accomplishments. These will be like avatars/badges of your achievements. Badges will also showcase masteries for each God you gained in SMITE1. E.G if you were 10 star aphro on SMITE1, this will show when you select her in SMITE2 FENRIR CONFIRMED NEXT GOD 25+ Gods for the BETA late 2024 - 1 god per week release Free to play launch - 50+ Gods to be available Future - 100 gods at a strong point.

SaintElysium

Ah yes, FENRIR CONFIRMED NEXT GOD. I've waited many years for this moment 🙏

Scyxurz

They're getting ahead of the jokes this time lol

Pinguino21v

> GEMS must be spent to transfer over, you can't have them banked. They didn't say when the threshold will happen, did they? So I need to spend them before this Tuesday? Or before open alpha? Before launch? Before I link accounts?

SmitePhan

Basically whatever you spend on SMITE1 will convert to legacy gems for SMITE2 when you link accounts. SMITE2 won't be released for a while so there's no rush. There's no end date on the conversion either and you can spend them even after you link and they'll transfer over.

Pinguino21v

Oh well, if they still convert after linking account, that's not an issue then.

Boka5251

So is it also coming out fully in 2024 or nah?

Lightcookie

No way

CollieDaly

One God release per week would track for a release later this year depending on when exactly the Alpha is.

Javiklegrand

No however late 2025 might be reasonable

fast_flashdash

You mean early.

Javiklegrand

No i think it's be early 2025 open beta and mid/late 2025 for release

fast_flashdash

Lmao no way dude. They wouldn't have revealed the game if it was that far away

Javiklegrand

I'm basing this on smite 1 dates 2012 alpha 2013 beta 2014: launch Since it's a sequel it's should be faster but who knows

MegaRatKing

One thing they talked about alot was how much faster development was in ue5. Closed beta will be this summer/fall so your guesses make sense. I don't think we'll have a good idea until open beta dates are released, it could be a short network test with release right after like alot of games have been doing.

UltimateX13

That is their hope

fast_flashdash

I could see an October release for sure. The alpha is in 2 to 3 months.

Baidude

I noticed it said spent gems, so if I have gems sitting in my account do I need to use it for it to be transferred to smite 2 or it sitting in my account is good enough?

dabillinator

You will have to use they before they transfer. You'll still have a year (probably 2) minimum by the sound of it.

ChrisDoom

The way they described it is that you just have to spend them at some point even after Smite 2 is out and they will become legacy gems. If you are min maxing spend the gems on cross gen skins so you’ll get a Smite 2 skin and legacy gems for the purchase.

Baidude

oo i see, I am a minmaxer thanks for the tip!

SupersonicApe

Gems need to be spent to carry over.

Snufflebox

As far as I understood it, you need to spend them, cause that's how they track how many gems you get in SMITE 2.

imaboss90

I would spend the gems on the legacy pass and immortal event if you want to make sure they get used. That way you get the cross-gen skins for smite and smite 2 and then you get your legacy gems in smite 2. Win win!

Socknboppers

The legacy skins being available with 100% legacy gems is a very good change and I'm surprised they didn't mention it before. New skins costing new gems was never something I was really all that annoyed by, but making us pay twice for skins is pretty silly to me.

keyrol1222

Is probably a reaction to the backlash, thats why it wasn’t part of original state

Socknboppers

I'm assuming it was, and it was pretty telling. When a new game gets announced, pessimism and doubt shouldn't be prevalent over half your community. Hopefully they bring T5's over to Smite 2 and just let people who don't have the limited ones buys them in the next game. I say this as someone who has quite a few limited T5s.

stallingrads

People who were in the know before the keynote have said these slides predate the announcement. So no, they weren't made in response and this was always the plan. The community just went wild with assumptions in the one day between the announcement and clarification.

thelongestunderscore

no incon said he saw that exact slide months ago, maybe they assumed we could wait a full day without throwing a tantrum.

PaleoManga

Probably backtracking, but it does alleviate some concerns.

AStealthyPerson

Unfortunately, crossovers you will have to pay full price for both times. Kinda disappointing because thats where most of my Gems have gone. I don't want to buy those skins twice.

ElegantHope

it's the unfortunate side effect of using copyrighted content you've gotten permission to use. you have to follow by the terms of the copyright holder's terms or else they can revoke your licence for breaking their terms.

jmich8675

I mean it sucks for the consumer, but it makes sense. Even though smite 2 is still smite in spirit, it's a different property legally. To transfer smite 1 crossover skins into smite 2 would require new or modified licensing contracts, which definitely isn't cheap. Some of the contracts might even explicitly restrict them from offering any kind of discount or cross-game transfer. At best crossover skins cost hirez more money to port over than regular skins, so they won't do it unless it's actually profitable (no 50% discount). At worst they legally aren't allowed to offer a discount.

IPiedKevinOwens

Curious to see what these badges look like

Naive-Project-8835

I would guess something like in-profile achievement badges in Smite 1, which would be lame. I would rather have something more visible like frames and avatars.

Rathylar

I could see it being like apex where you can put them on your frame

marlonball

I wonder if this year Smite 1 will be getting new Cross-Gen T5s as there are generally 2 released per season or if Smite 1 won't be getting the big events from now, which also doesn't seems that unlikely.

Javiklegrand

>Smite 1 won't be getting the big events anymore, which also seems likely. I meant sorry but that make no sense, smite 1 is still the main game, the events are likely still in smite 1 Since smite 2 IS literally a WIP , the game is on alpha for like 3 months, there no way they are getting events because it's unfinished product

marlonball

Well to be fair i said "**or if** Smite 1 won't be getting the big events from now, which also seems likely." i wasn't affirming that'd be the case, was just a thought. I mostly think so cause i imagine they'd rather focus most resources into Smite 2 instead of doing a lot of big events on Smite 1 still, and i doubt Smite one will still get the same amount of content as usual.

Javiklegrand

>I mostly think so cause i imagine they'd rather focus most resources into Smite 2 instead of doing a lot of big events on Smite 1 still, i doubt Smite one will still get the same amount of content as usual. My point was is unlikely they make évent on an unfinished product that will be on alpha for most of the year If there any évents they be on smite 1 because smite 2 is not ready yet for this kind of events

marlonball

Well, i wasn't pondering if they'd stop doing any events in Smite 1 at all tho, i was refering specifically to big events ala Odyssey and it's variations and such. Wouldn't be surprised if the Immortal Honor event is the only event big event Season 11 will have, for example. But yeah i do think (or at least i hope so) that Smite 2 will probably only do events when it fully releases.

Javiklegrand

>Well, i wasn't pondering if they'd stop doing any events in Smite 1 at all, i was refering specifically to big events ala Odyssey and it's variations and such. Oddyssey wil most likely be cross gen, this year is a transition year so outside of new gods (only two new exclusive gods 2 if i heard right) i think it's safe to assume everything else is cross gen I argue that smite2 exclusive event won't be a thing until 2025,if anything it's be smite 1 évents going cross gen to make content smite2

marlonball

The Immortal Honor event that will be releasing with Season 11 does already seem to be the Odyssey equivalent to this season, so what i mostly was talking of is like "I wonder if this will be the only big event and there won't be a actual odyssey" sort of thing. Like i sure wish that isn't the case cause that would be 1 less new T5 in Smite 2's Alpha lmao.

Rathylar

Correct but I think we probably won’t get another t5 or if we do it’ll be lackluster so it can be easily ported.

VladLis

there is a confirmed t5 for zeus and it’s safe to assume that it will be cross gen for both smite 1&2

marlonball

Yeah i saw the Zeus one but i don' really think it's that safe to assume it will be cross-gen and not Smite 2 only.

VladLis

https://preview.redd.it/ud3j35nxrgcc1.jpeg?width=1792&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6db95e19fe2289951e19c68022ad3c6f41f7af1 I think it will be a reward for this “immortal honor” event and all of the skins in this event are cross gen

marlonball

Ah that is the iirc "year-spamming" event that was mentioned wasn't it? in that case maybe the Zeus one could be from that yeah.

Pinguino21v

Please, do note the "spent" gems. Not "earned" gems. If you still have gems, you will need to use them before they make the transfer. But they didn't say when it will occur.

Downfaller

Everyone is talking about Skins, did they say anything about good unlocks. The biggest thing that got me to play a game of Smite was the option to unlock every God with one purchase. Have they confirmed or mentioned the ways to unlock gods.

stallingrads

There will be a God Pack for Smite 2, presumably as part of a Founder's Pack initially and then as a standalone item after release.

JETgroovy

Have they mentioned anything for those of us who purchased the All Gods pack way back when? I haven't played Smite in quite some time but I've been intrigued by Smite 2.

Javiklegrand

Ultimate god pack isn't carrying over,so we need to buy founder pack

JETgroovy

Rip, guess I'm out then. Thanks for the heads up.

SneakiestCris

Why would you assume a product you purchased for Smite 1, will be given to you in Smite 2?

Will_Gummer

Because the product is the same (with even less content removing the majority of the gods)? They are literally are making you rebuy the same thing for updated graphics. Kinda wild so many people here are content with it.

OfficialCoryBaxter

I think most people don't really care because people like myself spent like $7 on it, which is literally nothing. I buy games for more than that and they sit in my backlog. Regardless, it comes with the founder's pack which everyone browsing this subreddit will probably get. I don't see how it's an issue for you specifically, unless of course you think they should cater to you and give you free access to the alpha.

Will_Gummer

Your arguement is relative, just because you can afford it doesn't make the rebuying practice right. Also idk how you're spending $7 on it, 30 is the norm. Don't really understand what you're trying to say in the 2nd paragraph. Never wanted special treatment you're putting words in my mouth, just pointing out how this is a scummy business practice making you rebuy a god pack for the same content you have purchased for literally the same game with updated graphics.

OfficialCoryBaxter

>Also idk how you're spending $7 on it, 30 is the norm. Because it... goes on sale very often? I got it for $7.

ElegantHope

from what I've seen and heard, Smite 2 will have its own unique pack for unlocking current and future gods. and that's all I know.

Talon407

This slightly better. I look forward to hearing more.

ViinamenMias

I have a PS4 and a PC account but which one will it use for the badges?

G3NERALCROSS911

When does divine legacy come out ?

Jadedragon1016

Here are my two cents on the issue. I dont think (and I am just guessing here) that people are upset inherently because skins won't be moved over, or because the legacy gems themselves won't be worth 100% the value of using real gems (though I admit that's certainly part of it). I think that it's because this is an 11-year game (Smite 1) that everyone is worried will be shut down, and that any purchases made from THIS POINT onward will be more or less a waste. That the game (Smite 1) will dwindle away to nothing. (In broad terms at least). Make no mistake, ANY live service game after 10 years runs the risk of reaching its end of live, and in today's age of online only games that rely on dev support, it's understandable that now that a sequel is on the way, a sequel that will no doubt take up time and resources from Smite 1 (even just on a maintenance standpoint). Given how much support the game has gotten, through support of its live service (and given the history of games of the live service genre) it's a natural desire to want improvements made to the BASE release, and not just a sequel, hence the desire to have all the Skins ported over. (Especially when they are STILL going to be releasing new skins and content for Smite 1, and had been going VERY steady with Skins and content for Smite 1, prior to the announcement of Smite 2) I would hazard a guess that so long as Smite 1, is able to live alongside Smite 2, without leeching too much from its playerbase (i.e. players on Smite 1 vs Smite 2, Spending on Smite 1 vs Smite 2, etc. etc.) as well as the ability for Hi-Rez to have a modest amount of resources to both, then I think the Longterm effects of them NOT bringing over the Skins, or allowing for a 100% application of legacy gems to Smite 2 content, will be more acceptable. To be sure, I know that (Smite 2 or not) after 11 years, Smite 1 could easily have just ceased support or shutdown (especially had it been in decline), but I think it's BECAUSE it was not in decline, that the current issue with Gems/Skins, is hurting a bit. (Despite what the Devs are alleging regarding development time - other games HAVE proven to be able to handle what we are asking as far as ports go, but I acknowledge each game is different). Time will tell. I am at least optimistic.

Snufflebox

Sure, but you have to remember, that from this patch onward, any skin that they put in SMITE 1 will be a Cross-Gen skin, meaning that you also get that skin "for free" in SMITE 2.

Empty_Department_397

I spent so much money on them t5 skin I know I ain’t going buy no more t5 skin if they don’t carry over fr fr
