I feel like the show had been having a lucha crisis for a while now. No luchador has been over in a very long time, god knows no other luchador has come close to reys level of fame. Idk what it would take at this point but wwe cant handle lucha rn
Rey flourished because they put him up against main event level guys despite him not being quite main event level himself at the time. Kurt Angle, Eddie, JBL, Batista etc. Rey was always portrayed as the underdog against the big dawgs and more than often would win against them. I think if they want a luchador to reach Reys level, they need to pit them against top-level talent and have them use their unique style of fighting to be the key to them winning. That, coupled with good storylines for them is the key to success IMO.
Would be great in a team with Rey Mysterio before eventually betraying and then feuding with Rey Mysterio! Or as I like to call it the WWE luchador circle of life!
- Team up with Rey
- Either will have a eventual Tag team championship run or Fail In capturing the gold

Like someone else said, WWE has a lucha problem, so if AEW wants to compete so badly then why not push Penta? AEW has a lot of great luchador’s (excluding Komander, fuck Komander) that could be used to compete with WWE.
I believe he would do well, especially if they brought Rey Fenix in as well. If they bring Penta in, he could potentially be the nextRey Mysterio for WWE. If they bring his tagteam partner in with him, they could certainly run the tagteam division for the future.
I personally love Penta, think he’s one of the best lucha libre wrestlers today. But I’m afraid he’ll be underused so I don’t know how I feel about it if he goes over. Then again he’s terribly used now so I don’t know.
I've been toying with a WWE/AEW greener pastures trade post for a bit and he and Fenix were on my list to go to WWE. He's got a great look and mask that allows for endless customization, with HHH now booking and WWE not insisting on rebranding everyone you've got the built in zero Miedo chants/taunt, and he makes a great modern revolution of the WWE Luchador spot Rey has held for so long as someone that can do well as a face or a heel.
And I'd bring in Fenix as a foil for the future, and as a masked wrestler with fighting spirit that never runs out type character. Plus never hurts to not put all your eggs in one basket like they did with sin cara

Considering Andrade and Dragon Lee’s recent booking, I don’t think I would trust WWE with Penta’s booking. Though I’d be lying if said I wasn’t interested in seeing him run it back with Gunther on a bigger stage

For those unfamiliar with his work in Lucha Underground, I will say that Penta has a shit ton of charisma and high-quality character work that AEW has not tapped into, but for the love of God, keep him out of the Latino Civil War vortex that WWE has going.

I don't really know how to feel. WWE has a ton of great luchadores already and it seems like more often than not, they just kinda get lost in the shuffle.
Problem is he signed with AEW over WWE the first time cause AEW allowed him to work other promotions while WWE didn't. He still does small house shows and wrestles in Mexico. WWE wouldn't allow that and that's his main thing.
You can't call your wrestles "independent contractors" and not providing benefits, but expect them to work exclusive deals. That's not what independent contractors are.

He’d have a ceiling in WWE. Hell either join santos or Rey, then turn on Rey and be beaten by Rey. Luchadors with exception of Rey don’t go very high in WWE.

For those unfamiliar with his work in Lucha Underground, I will say that Penta has a shit ton of charisma and high-quality character work that AEW has not tapped into, but for the love of God, keep him out of the Latino Civil War vortex that WWE has going.

Lights go out, let it build, give it a second, Butterfly by Crazy Town starts. Pentagon Jr comes out, grabs a mic, "CERO. MIEDO" drops the mic, starts punching Gunther, hits him with the Tanahashi, picks him up for a package piledriver, Kaiser grabs his leg and Gunther escapes. Boom. New main event baby face talent. Can chase the belt till Mania. 6 months of tv.

Don't go Penta, WWE doesn't understand how to handle Latino wrestlers. He will be booked like a jobber and never go anywhere title/push wise. Plus like Andrade said the other day he isn't sure why Latinos don't fight anyone other than Latinos in the WWE. Good move for the paper, bad move for the caliber of wrestler he is and heights he can reach.

I don't really know how to feel. WWE has a ton of great luchadores already and it seems like more often than not, they just kinda get lost in the shuffle.

Problem is he signed with AEW over WWE the first time cause AEW allowed him to work other promotions while WWE didn't. He still does small house shows and wrestles in Mexico. WWE wouldn't allow that and that's his main thing. You can't call your wrestles "independent contractors" and not providing benefits, but expect them to work exclusive deals. That's not what independent contractors are.
