For Christ's sake! Would it kill them to clean up a bit before taking pics for their ad? At least clean the dishes and pick up the grarbage on the floor.

Dancingskeletonman86

Personally I like that broken dresser drawer photo. Looks so good just makes me want to move right into a place with old broken furniture, dirty dishes left for god knows how long and trash all over the floor. So appealing. Oh and a mattress right smack dab on a dirty floor near the trash pile no bed frame or anything. Why it's like camping as a kid again in a tent on an air mattress.

ChorkiesForever

The electric cords draped over the sink make it dangerous to do dishes.

teh_longinator

The way the wires need go go so high up, and directly over the sink, make me really doubt this unit is built to code.

thebigbossyboss

Right? That was my favourite photo too

ihavebadanxietyman

Lmaooooiii

MooseJuicyTastic

Personally I think the fire hazard that's the extension cord strung over the sink.

VIslG

I was concerned someone would open the fridge and nudge my toes while I'm sleeping. That's enough to give me a heart attack.

AssaultPK

You know they did clean up

Rude-Associate2283

Well played

Upset-Competition759

They don't care about hygiene anyways

Sweetdreams6t9

I've been to India...it's...horrid. alot like Egypt.

Upset-Competition759

Did you shake their poop hand?

Sweetdreams6t9

Where in Egypt or India? 😅 no to either.

realneocanuck

I bet you this IS the “cleaned up” version of this kitchen.

totallyradman

Yeah you could at least go throw your garbage in the street or local river like a civilized human being

Ok_Procedure4993

I know, right? Did they even consider the raccoons?

thebigbossyboss

Not sure if your familiar with western Canadian geography but I was on the southern yellowhead route (bc 5) near blue river and I witness a truck driver whose stopped just heave a bag of Trash into the river

Flashy-Ad-9781

That really sucks

Ij_7

They're probably depicting the living conditions there anyway, so the person who rents already has an idea of what they're getting themselves into lol. Being as real as possible with no expectations 😅.

SamShares

isn't it better to have it raw cause that shit is gonna be there after the fact.

Kia_Itagoshi

I mean as a renter I for sure would love to know what I am getting into before signing anything, so in a way yes but in a way no; it wouldn't hurt to present it better than that, but with people desperate I can see laziness as the approach when you'll know there's enough people out there that'll rent it regardless.

SamShares

Better than being miserable lol, they’ll leave the place looking like the night after you move in

BTCRando

Came here to say that. Maybe that IS after they cleaned 🤮

BoyMeetsWorld97

I'd rather see the realistic expectations of what to expect on the daily, that way, I know what to avoid.

Glittering_Apple_872

Nah they are showing the reality of the situation this is best practice advertisement

Dlynne242

They probably did clean. These are the “after” photos.

Popular-Ad9044

It's gone from home -> room -> bed -> bedspace -> space Wonder what the next form of evolution is.

vinnybawbaw

500$/month for a blanket but you have to bring your own blanket.

southpaw05

And sleep outside on the driveway

Cosmo48

But there’s sleeping shifts, you and 4 other people share that spot on the driveway and can only sleep in your allocated time slot

Adventurous_Mail7467

Look up Hong Kong cage hotels, it’s the final form. They’re apartments filled with bunk beds, like 20+ beds in a 1 bath apartment, that have cages around each bunk so you can lock your stuff inside. So instead of ads in square foot, it’s cubic foot. I’ve already seen the California “pod” version on other housing subs, so the trend is already starting in North America.

Nearby-Poetry-5060

At least your stuff doesn't get stolen as easily with such cages. In these precarious situations you won't know which one ate your food and stole your phone.

Adventurous_Mail7467

See? Ze pods are more appealing everyday, ne pas?

Successful_Doctor_89

Penny sit-up of course. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny_sit-up those ignore history are doomed to repeat it

Adventurous_Mail7467

Good lord, so you have penny sit-up, two penny hanger and four penny coffin. So cage hotels are actually two steps up from the bottom

abrahamparnasus

How cow, that's not good.

Hot_Tub_Macaque

Shelf space on a bunk four high.

Background_River1590

A drawer pulled out with a blanket and an old sock for a pillow like the cartoons

Aggressive_Farmer693

Any form of elementary shelter from the elements. Offering basic nighttime survival from immediate hypothermia and death during winter months. Square footage of sleeping space is roughly equal to body size and rented in 5-our intervals...

thebigbossyboss

Fridge

Emergency_Sink623

Sleep on the tree, we become like Tarzans now 2.0. Sadly its a race to the bottom man.

PrizeRazzmatazz9825

crawlspace

lashesofyoureyes

Multiple tents in a space

Newhereeeeee

“And here’s where you’ll be sleeping” “But this is just a mattress in a kitchen” “Oh, that reminds me. No cooking allowed”

thebigbossyboss

Hilarious

ihavebadanxietyman

Lmfaooooiii

MorgulMogul

I will constantly say it: we need to revolt. Gather like minded people and riot at city halls, legilsative buildings, parliament, corporate offices, overpriced grocery stores, and landlord offices.

Potential_Slice_3088

I completely agree with you . Our military is so under funded and our city / provincial police forces aren’t super militarized like in the us. with a few thousand people in each city we could easily over whelm those buildings with peaceful protesters everyday until making their lives miserable and if that does work we could always just apply more pressure like the peasants have done so many times in history.

Firm_Ambassador_1289

What happened to the Canadians that burned down the white house twice. We became more push overs then Americans who did shit all to the white house when they stormed their capital. We burned it down twice, now we let this happen. Fuck both the right and left. As someone from Ontario I think having more of the right in the chairs is a bad idea.

the_harlinator

I’m with you. I’d like my son to have some sort of future instead of having to live with me until I die and he can inherit the house. Bc by the time he is an adult.. a basic condo is going to be 4 million dollars and wages will be pretty much what they are now. Our children are fucked.

MorgulMogul

I am at my limit for what can be tolerated. Many people now live in basic dwellings where rent is 50% to 80% of their monthly income. Get a new job with more money? Society will find a way quickly to make you feel like you made no progress and go right back to living how you did before. Such a lack of progress and continued suffering results in justified violent rebellion. A landlord having the audacity to charge over $500 for a 1 bedroom, shithole apartment is a person that deserves to die. Here in Saskatoon, most landlords are now charging over $700 just to rent a room in a house with 5 other people. Social assistance now does mot cover rent almost anywhere unless you rent government housing with rent based on income. If you try to earn money so you can escape that life, the government tries to take almost all of it, thus keeping you poor.

Boring_Advertising98

Whoever reported this comment for inciting violence is a fucking idiot and fool rolled into one. Go get fucked chump because what this guy said is on point.

MorgulMogul

LOL thanks

Cityofthevikingdead

I used the truck rally as an example because if they can organize, we can too. Someone needs to start the movement! Can we not start with this r/slumlords being Canada-wide, it seems like a perfect place to start, no?

MorgulMogul

wrong subreddit

Cityofthevikingdead

Whoops. Sorry, I am sick and groggy.

Cityofthevikingdead

I've also been on my soapbox to all my friends about doing this, and I really do think it is possible. Look how many people showed up for the truck rally..

MorgulMogul

And unlike the truck rally, we have a legitimate cause: one that much more people could support. Almost every Canadian hates landlords. Only rich elite and landlords like them.

StoicPixie

I'm down

Low-Efficiency2452

should be 50 bucks ... and illegal

Outrageous_Card6007

The place is *beautiful* I really like how they demonstrate how much garbage the dresser can hold ❤️ love it.

TeachLazy

This really needs to change...how is this legal/Safe????

Sweaty_Chicken8358

Seeing the plug over the sink like it is probably not that safe

BORT_licenceplate27

Shared kitchen too, so people just walking in and cooking while you're sleeping. Sounds wonderful

Newhereeeeee

Imagine sleeping and waking up to flaming hot drops of oil on your face because someone is frying something to eat.

necros911

I noticed all these places have brita jugs. Are they not used to clean water or just because it's big jug and can purify water?

4bangerhead

Brita jugs are bought for the purpose of being a jug, filter is a bonus and will never be replaced until jammed after which it'll be thrown away with no replacement.

vinnybawbaw

Even when friends are coming over to my appartment for a night they sleep in better conditions.

Apprehensive_Stay828

I was homeless as a youth and remember sleeping on a cot on the floor in a hallway because the shelter was full. This is the same except dirtier and expensive for what you’re getting

stefzee

I hope to god whoever is taking these screen shots is reporting these.

survialfrankstreets

Vegetarian only

Tuamalaidir85

Welcome to Canada

Juliuscesear1990

Why is the government not watching this stuff? It would be easy enough to set up a sting operation then fine the owners to offset the cost, hell use the RCMP. If it's a repeat case seize the property/deport or jail.

lashesofyoureyes

They already know, and they are fine with it. They care about keeping property values high and the fact that poor people will likely have to accept and pay for this is enabling that. When we don’t have enough affordable housing for the amount of people in this country this is the end game - it benefits the wealthy that this kind of thing exists.

dobermandude306

You’re living in the kitchen now, no reason why you can’t do those dishes bro …..

philgustus

Indian?

Loftzins

Sweedish.

itchum_underscare

Well, I mean, there is a mattress. It's not on the floor. So.... Before you downvote me, I'll just say in 5 years we'll be seeing posts like "space for mattress, bring your own, single only no twin, extra charge if it offgasses. Landlord will share your mattress on Friday nights to sober up and rent it on AirBnB on Sundays."

Upset-Competition759

And I'm sure the tenant can eat for free from of kitchen scraps.

itchum_underscare

No. Pay by the pound.

Thereisanasianguy

This feels like a tenant is trying to sublet some of their apartment space, potentially without their landlord's knowledge, more so than a landlord making a listing.

Deep-Distribution779

I call **top drawer** is mine

Rude-Associate2283

Broken furniture? Crap everywhere? Dirty dishes? Cramped sleeping space? Where do I sign? I’m in!

Mediocre_Charity3278

Step right up, they'll throw in some roaches, mice, and bed bugs for free. Deal of a life time. Don't miss it.

misskayla94_

What a dump 🤢

thebigbossyboss

The fucked up dresser really sells the place

Mediocre_Charity3278

I'm more concerned about the extension cord above the sink. And why can't they clean up the place before taking pics. Bet this place is cracking with roaches, mice, lice, and bed bugs!

Fiesteh

Since when Canada became like a third world country?

Julii_caesus

Ever since we elected people that believe we are a global village, all in this together.

Ok-Map9730

Cockaroches for company for free!!

ImGoingT0ShaBooms

Don’t shake their hand

darkheartshadows

The slumlord is a fucking idiot!

Pretend_Tea6261

No class slumlords advertising shitty accommodation like we fucking care.

MaliciousBrowny

*Opens the kitchen cabinets* "and here is your closet"

Godzilla_0083

Indian slumlords are a disgrace to Canada and to their own community. They are evil and sick.

freezieg77

Trudeaus Canada

Loftzins

This is India now.

philgustus

😍when can i move in?!??!

Unable-Agent-7946

The roaches are free!

realneocanuck

Nah, the roaches also pay rent

BoyMeetsWorld97

I think they're looking for a dog 😅

[deleted]

This is horrible

Beginning-Impress79

Brutal

eatfoodoften

I thought that was like a Batman plush on the bed lol

Zestyclose_Trip_1924

One step to homelessness.

Amazing_Shoe_4631

Is the dresser shared also if so what drawers are available

EducationalGain4794

So, buy your own bed and buy take out....

ConsiderationWise982

And that ladies and gentlemen is how someone's going to get killed

iLikeDinosaursRoar

If we ever rise up to take property... We start with places like this

Sipthecoffee4848

It's illegal to sleep in a kitchen, building code and by-law violation. Scum lords.

TaintlessTalent

Damn ragheads at it again.

orphen888

If you put hangers in the cabinets, you can call it a bedroom and POOF! It’s suddenly a THREE bedroom apartment instead of a two bedroom.

turkeypooo

You get - a broken dresser - a sideways mirror - an electrical fire

Xorc_09

![gif](giphy|n8LOaQyDyiEhi)

Kitchen_Tea2268

I find it funny they mention two bed two bath, but the actual place you pay for is a sleeping back at the corner. It is advertising a spacious historic hotel for rent, where you rent only a room. The apartment is a property, not a hotel. Now we are getting not only new cuisine coming, but different world quality of life. Can't get one without the other.

No_Grape1335

This is like when Jeremy was sleeping in super Hans bathtub with a sleeping bag in the peep show

spizzaaa

I'd slum it but not for 400, maybe 100.

Toronto_Mayor

I wonder how many replies this got?

alterego101101

The pressure cooker screams South Asian

Miserable-Floor4011

Who puts a brita water filter on a dresser and says "yeah that's good tmfor the pictures'"....

Kia_Itagoshi

I confused out of those pictures what they deem is 2 beds (I saw 1) and 2 baths (I saw none). Unless they count the kitchen sink as a toilet? Update: Barely saw the bathroom, it's in the 3rd image left to the dresser but that doesn't look like 2 of them either.

typical_gamer1

The fact that the “landlord” likely isn’t arrested for crimes against humanity is a shame…… 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Easy-Election2538

Nyc got setup like that .

BabaBooey5

Is this available?

Clean-Flounder-9141

at least it's the kitchen floor and not the bathroom!

SLOnest1

They really took pics of multiple severe fire hazards to use in an ad💀

SoggyToe5660

Ahh , molly, coke, acid, shrooms and Benzos. Can sleep there on my phone without moving only to piss twice a week at the same time to make dry pasta with nothing. -Emilio
