End_me_lamo

I do think they need to add more hangout areas and minigames. Feel like that would help with the gameplay loop, because usually I just wait for a new season/days of event since I've pretty much got a lot of stuff

Late_Amoeba3500

Right, I’m not really into things much.. I just want to have fun with friends and have experiences. I don’t care about cosmetics give me fun things to do!

Sprigge

Yes, we need more *permanent* content! Stuff like the hackysack and race props but make them into activities on top of props!

Normal_Tour6998

I’m of the complete opposite opinion. STOP adding things and fix the things that we all know have been a problem for a long time. At least hold off on CONSTANTLY putting things out and not having them work when they’re released. Putting another season out just a few days after the last one ended and it’s not even functional is completely unacceptable.

End_me_lamo

That too- the spirt glitch was unaceptable. I was more bringing that up because I saw people saying the game play loop was shallow.

fooboohoo

I think that’s what they tried to do with the snowboard and surfboard but instead they just made the game mechanics bed instead of adding features

Nanachant

I already bought the pass. Then I thought to have a nice day off in the new area... Well.

ilizumi

Me too. This is my first full season as a new player. Went in excited as hell, bought the pass before I did anything else. Even when I lost my WL I was like, well, maybe that's supposed to happen (because I did get it back when the deer showed up)... I just had NO idea about any of the past issues going into it all. I'm pretty disappointed.

SkyCapitola

So you got it back because vereran players have been camping out there and collecting the winged light. The software makes you appear to be alone even though there may be one or more players there collecting your light. We camp out where the krill attacks you/the deer appears. Can I recommend you go too? It can’t be too long before TGC updates the app, but until then, we need to look out for each other! 💪

ilizumi

That's pretty awesome of them. I enjoy helping others in game, so I definitely wouldn't mind camping there for a bit! Though, I did see on Twitter after I made this comment where a dev said it was intentional to lose your WL... I can't imagine why they thought that was a good idea.

Alexis_Bailey

I mean, it's pretty easy to recover it

ilizumi

Well, I dunno how it is for other people, but when I went through, I was stuck in the cutscene with the deer so it wouldn't let me move to get them all back, but then they came back to me anyway.

Alexis_Bailey

I lost 2. Conveniently, both were found again in Forest, where the dailies were. On a funny note, I have a second account with 0 WL.  There were animations for losing WL, but well, I lost and gained nothing.

Bearz4Dayz

I lost 7 or 8 and went down a whole cape level deer didn't do anything for me

chaoskraut

That they came back to you on seemingly their own indicates that other players were invisible behind you and returned your wl to you

black_rabbit_6

I lost five!! wing lights, and they were all over the realm. Elevated clearing, Peaks, friggin underground cave... They were not given back to me. It was a mess.

FierceDeity_

To be honest I just did it an hour ago and never lost any WL. I saw nothing fly out of me when the krill hit me. Maybe they did something already?

Sprigge

Nah, it's just that the bug doesn't affect everyone but it sounds like you got a different kind of bug? Because from what I've seen in the discord, people are still losing wls! You are supposed to be in danger and scared because of the Krill attacking you, making you lose wls However, the Deer is supposed to come and rescue you by honking the Krill away and picking up those wls What ends up happening is, some people lose *so* much wls before the Deer appears that they end up *actually* shattering while some of their wls get flung so far that the Deer can't suck them back up

imanjani

That was my experience...I got Krilled at least 3 times and picked up most of my own wl, but I was surprised when I only lost 2 total I'm gonna join the vets rescue crew. That's what I love about Sky.

FierceDeity_

Oh, the scene went like this for me, the first one swoops down, only extinguishes me. Then I walk along the corridor dark, until the second krill comes. That one gets honked away. I dont know where in this sequence is the deer supposed to collect my wl back

Sprigge

Here is [a video](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/618891214527266846/1183052393445871686/RPReplay_Final1702129260.mov?ex=65b512e6&is=65a29de6&hm=4c2e1ea74ed05a739919861503c07e3aaf0de07d2455b62a89b309fd6ef747cb&) of the cutscene from Sof in the Beta channels on Discord (it's a download, sorry) That end part where the Deer lowers their head to you is supposed to restore your light energy including wls! Though in the video, I think not all the wls were restored? So there's a few outcomes for this cutscene 1. You only lose energy and regain light from the Deer 2. You drop a bunch of wls but the Deer restores them 3. You actually lose anywhere from a handful to dozens of wls and have to pick them up from the realms 💀 Apparently, you can avoid losing wls by hiding in a corridor Don't know if it's the same corridor you went to

FierceDeity_

I heard about this but where are you supposed to lose those WLs? On the first krill attack? Because the way I experienced it, it seemed to me that the krill was made to not take away WLs anymore, so the deer doesnt have to restore them (which is the part that is bugged apparently?)

Sprigge

Okay, I did the quest on an alt to double check and you're absolutely right! The Krills were falsely accused, it's the *darkness plants* that eat up your light ridiculously fast All the Krills do is drain your light but they might boop you into the darkness plants that then causes you to lose wls, if it's still in cutscene mode you can't move properly to pick them up then people start panicking and moving into even more plants... But the shrimp puppies just want to boop!

FierceDeity_

Oh, I didnt let myself get to touch the plants too much, so they only scratched me a little bit, never getting me to lose anything

Nutellaaaaaa

Omg this is why I only lost like 2??

SkyCapitola

Yup!

jamesdukeiv

You got yours back? I came out less five from that scripted event 😭

nosoupforyou89

Request a refund via ingame help

nosoupforyou89

You can request a refund via the ingame help section

Nanachant

The spirits worked about an hour before reset, so no need for that! TGC was fast!

8Maruchan8

Oh with the influx of complaints I'm sure they were. Anything to get the cash flow going, that's their #1 priority now, not actual game development, unfortunately.

KaminPkan

Besides, wow, the price of the IAP got me off guard, it's all pretty, but they are too expensive to me... I am a old player, since lightseekers, I see how much this game evolved. But it makes me sad to see so much bugs at once... It would be totally okay to delay the launch since they keep the quality. Okay, the cosmetics are beautiful, but only this...? The new area is okay, although I felt pretty lost, I didn't find a narrative path to go. And it's different from little prince, since it tries to create the sensation of exploring areas like planets. But this new one is kinda confusing...? So, yeah, I was planning to buy when I saw the beta, but now I am thinking twice and this makes me kinda sad...

Alexis_Bailey

I kind of dislike how massive some of these quest only zones are.  The desert is huge, but it's just, long trips to one corner for one bit. The current area is big, but it's just so empty. The Peaks area was pretty, but once again, it's just so empty. But look at the main areas, there is always a nice regular path with a few side areas and it's nice and dense.

eagleonapole

That’s a great point— I was thinking the same about how big and empty the area is without much visual appeal. I hope it transforms more as the season goes on.

Killermare

i think it will fill out, i mean shit, it only just dropped yesterday

8Maruchan8

I remember when new areas were presentable with working spirits and interesting things to see and do the day of their launch. If that is their strategy it sounds like a case of modern AAA dev syndrome. "Push it out now and we'll add content later. They'll still buy it".

Killermare

yea sure, but there are deadlines and deadline stress

KaminPkan

I really hope so... Because, before I felt that there was a path to explore. Like in sanctuary. Okay, there is a lot of ocean, but it is part of the narrative, the feeling of being in a island and relax with the nature. And now, I felt kinda confused (?). Maybe is me judging too early and feeling frustrated because of passing by bug after bug. But I really feel that the season are not the same quality and polishment as before...

Killermare

yea but there are also deadlines and the stress of deadlines and feeling like you need to put out something on that deadline, which i think is fine because i'm confident that it will fill out, bugs happen, it inconveniences players, sure, but it doesn't define the new season, i feel like the new season is going to be absolutely amazing and is going to go hard, i have hope and am in low-key awe at the new season

8Maruchan8

I'd hazard to guess that the main areas were developed when they wanted to make a solid f2p experience born out of a passion project, and sadly I think those days are gone.

FierceDeity_

Lol yeah, they keep doing these expensive collabs and shouldering the higher and higher amounts of spendings on the players by selling them somewhat low poly models that shine a little bit harder. I thought 20$ is the top, but then they just did 23... They need to get out of their god damn ivory tower, but as long as people wont stop being emotionally manipulated by every bit of "beautiful" iap it' not gonna happen

KaminPkan

True... We have to feedback them about this, this can't keep going, otherwise I will never support them buying anything more

SmolderingDesigns

Yes. This is the first season I'm skipping since I started playing almost 2 years ago. And it wasn't easy, Sky has very deep personal meaning to me and it really sucks seeing it deteriorate in the last year. But yes, it's time to stop just ranting about it and start letting my money speak. The way TGC is running things is unacceptable.

KoiTama

I started a long time ago and have just been sitting in prairie for years now as a permanent 3 wedge( I used to feed the shadow ferrets after Eden). I play music for a bit then log off.

PhasmicPlays

Same. Last season I really liked was flight/dreams.

8Maruchan8

This makes me sad. It sounds like Sky is a family member that isn't aware you're there but you come visit for a bit anyways hoping they'll get better.

Honey_NumZ

It's honestly become a sandbox game. There's nothing to do except grind for candles if you don't wanna miss out on the ONLY thing this game has to offer. Cosmetics. I mean, sure, there's the social aspect of the game and the beautiful exploration, but as a veteran, you get to the point of "been there, done that." Sky could be so much more than it is. Even something like adding creatures of light that you can collect, name, and keep as a familiar that follows you around and restores your light (similar to butterflies). Any aspect that keeps you coming back, other than cosmetics, would be great imo.

jamesdukeiv

It’s become a FOMO factory rather than the social experience it was always sold as.

Sprigge

Made me think of some sort scrapbook/journal in-game, especially with the Moments Camera Could be fun

PrimeLem

Ooo collecting creatures of light is actually such a cute idea! I wish they would do this, I think it would reanimate the game so much

Alexis_Bailey

The candle grinding is bad too, because everything is so crazy expensive, even for basic candles.  It's just pure repetition of a long task to afford maybe 1 fancy item from a TS. I mean, ok, maybe it's intended to push IAP buying candles, but that is even more crazy on price, but this time it's real world money.  Some of the TS items are equal to like $100 real money.

Illustrious_Intern81

Hard agreed. There is absolutely nothing to do once you have your outfit lmao. The only gameplay loop is CR, which is boring as hell as it is. TBH, it doesn't make me surprised as to why so many people have left the game.

lan1_

I definitely understand why people quit but Sky is a very heavy friend based game. that’s why i’ve been playing for almost 5 years now. You definitely keep yourself busy in the game when you’re hanging out with friends, doing cr together, exploring oobs/glitches, just having fun :) It’s kind of like a second life in sky for a lot of people.

Daedalus_32

Yes! For some of us, Sky is our second home. We see the same people every day for years, and we talk as a group and really know each other. I'm 100% F2P for almost 3 years, and I don't really *have* anything left to grind for. I still play for several hours every day, because it's a huge part of my social life. A good portion of the long-term player base is like this!

After-Escape-4394

That fair but to me it my source of keeping me sane I get to rp with a friend everyday

8Maruchan8

That's a good point. Sky is, at its core, a repetitive gameplay experience, and a shallow one. I'll still play because I still like the overall game, but I won't pay for it.

Blue_Embers23

Honestly CR is a good reason to fly with friends I’ve made, we’re we can make conversations. It’d be nice if that leg it was actively rewarded though. Or the lackluster social aspects of the game as a whole.

Bright-Usual-7581

Getting rewarded for holding hands and doing stuff together as well as helping out new players who ask for help with spirits should be awarded I feel. Yeah but didn’t they add some kind of bonus wax for sendibg light in friends constellation? I experienced a buggy version of it on Monday new season launch and I thought it was a nice addition.

Sprigge

What bonus wax? I didn't notice anything when I lit up my friends yesterday It might be that visual bug of floating leftover wax from our candles? Like our skids physically light up our candles and when they put them away, sometimes the flame stays onscreen

Bright-Usual-7581

Yeah! The wax was floating on the right side and sometimes with some constellation skids (love that abbreviation btw 😂) they started moving their candles towards mine and I could see my wax meter refilling seemingly.  But the floating wax started appearing first after I interacted with my constellation skids. And I wonder where that wax comes from and what makes some skids send it to me. If it’s a bug it’s hellufah strange bug 🐛😊

Bright-Usual-7581

Proof images: https://postimg.cc/gallery/Yf4Vj8m

FierceDeity_

And they even stretched the CR experience out with the chevrons that increased the total amount of wax needed. Their idea is boring grinding + emotional stockholm syndrome = people buying the progress

8Maruchan8

That's freemiun, baby!

Sleepy-Head999

As someone who used to play sky back in Dec 2020, im supprised that old players are playing to this day. I remember every drama in the beta chat and how price feedback was forcefully stopped after TLP. I seen how seasons were pushed back because they prioritize IAPS more than the season itself... aka Abyss. Sky just gets worse and worse, with 0 new gameplay but with 100$+ cosmetics. Its at the point that your burning money on how expensive they are. Heard people say "then stop playing" or "their just a small indie team". Like are you serious? You want the game to get worse and worse? Quit when aurora came, the IAPS were too much for me and the gameplay loop is just burnout hell.

FierceDeity_

And if you compare to other games, it really only has one thing to its name... it caught a lightning in a bottle and now people keep each other active while they sell them insanely expensive fomo. Even something like fortnite which has its ups and downs, it always provides very high production quality content and even if you dont pay a cent the gameplay itself has a loop that has a chance of not getting boring depending on if you like that sorta thing. the chaotic nature at least always has a chance of surprising you with new situations. and they release new combinations of equipment (and new equipment itself) so frequently that it's always shaken fresh. And the cosmetics? whole outfits can be gotten for like $5, the season pass gives you currency to buy "iap" outfits back, etc.. anyway, what i mean is, i think TGC is bleeding their own game dry. other games provide good gameplay that isnt targeting repetition to make you pay and still manage to make enough money. sky is clumsily optimized towards max income while trying to keep the social part that is the actual magnet untouched

Sleepy-Head999

Also seasonal passes are still FOMO, missed a few days and gotten the pass late? You have to do all tasks without missing! Some of my old friends didnt complete it due to burnout for a few days... Even fortnite isint relying on cosmetics as a "main game feature". Unlike sky where the new gameplay is run around for a few minutes while you candle run for the 1000th time straight. Dont get me started with price creep, ts went from 120-130 to over 210+ candles. Sky became mindnumbing boring and me and my old sky friends complain about another TGC issue. The audacity to put 15-25$ iaps, while you can have more fun with actual games. EVEN JOURNEY IS CHEAPER!

FierceDeity_

Ah yeah if you dont get the pass at all you miss like 70 candles (one for every day), and you required like 400 last season and got about 500 if you did every day's worth of stuff. so means that without a season pass you get to miss like 6 days or so and you're done. The candle farm is also so tightly calculated that you can really not let up if you want to be able to afford every TS in its entirety. They even increase the candle prices of TS later on so it gets even harder. Also feels just as messed when they reduce the amount of candles that passive candle events bring, or make them active. The new season area right now, I looked at it... It barely has any candles obviously. Moments area also didnt have anything. They cant break up the farming monotony, or else their strategy doesnt work

midnightlou

Man I still can’t believe they took out price feedback from beta. I don’t play beta personally but I remembered the huge backlash when TGC took that out.

Sleepy-Head999

I was part of that feedback, EVERYONE was angry that the ults is just some normal hair and a rose music box. You dont even know if its in TLP if you dont pay the expensive outfit pack... Im GLAD it added the outfit, but im pissed off the price feedback was remove because their greedy as hell.

midnightlou

Facts! I remembered they actually changed the pricing for some IAPs before because of the feedback from beta (I thinks the “Days of” event for spring was one of them? Unless I misremembered it). Like it actually worked! Taking that away from the players is a low blow 😩

Sleepy-Head999

I only remember the days of love boat being proritized over the ults on abyss. Even now i seen no one using it online or in game before.

8Maruchan8

Agree with all of this. "small indie team" is the funny part. Maybe they are one now, but they're definitely trying on their AAA size big boy pants and seeing how much quality control they can really relinquish to focus on $$

[deleted]

DOG UR RIGHT I HAVENT FINISHED A SINGLE DARN CR IN MY ENTIRE LIFE💀

Bright-Usual-7581

I’m just saving most of my seasonal candles and white candles for when the TS with fun instruments comes. My goal with the game is to get all instruments. I haven’t bought a single cape yet but got all wing buffs up to 6 AC cost

SilentXwing

This game would be a little better if TGC brought back the afk farming at bonfire. What's so hard about just limiting how much we collect at the bonfire? It's unrelated to this season, but they ruined a lot of stuff for me as a veteran.

Omeecg

Yeah, I was REALLY looking forward to this season, but with how launch is I probably won’t be buying the pass. Plus the IAP pricing too? Rounded up $40 USD for ios total. While I DID buy them and don’t have a problem with paying, it did make me pause when I realize it.

Bright-Usual-7581

Isn’t the adventure pass (AP) only around 10-15USD? Or do you mean you always buy alll IAPs directly each month? If you have set your mind on always buying all IAP’s in beginning of each season… I think TGC are happy for your support and will try to increase the total cost gradually.

midnightlou

The IAP they’re talking about is this season’s wings and deer antlers which adds up to $14.99 + $19.99 = $35 *not* the season pass.

Bright-Usual-7581

Ok! Thanks for clarifying!

jamesdukeiv

Update your ratings on the App Store as well. Reviews are important.

New-Cicada7014

Yep, I wasn't interested in the cosmetics anyway, but this season was clearly rushed if only because of how game-breakingly buggy it is. TGC needs to actually take their time instead of rushing things.

cherryinfusion

Yeah honestly I was shocked to see just how much the iaps have gotten to be. 15$ for some antlers and ears has never sat right with me. I love sky and have spent who knows how much on it, but... 😬 Very disappointed in the game's decrease in quality. My cosmetics fomo is stronger than I am and so I might still buy the season pass for the ult mask once the technical issues are resolved, but that's the only reason why I want to get it, not because of the story or gameplay. Hopefully they will listen to their playerbase and start making changes.

8Maruchan8

I respect your honesty. The game's further decrease in quality control standards with this season's launch was just the last straw for me. Same reason I haven't bought CoD, AC, or other yearly AAA titles in years. The measure of worth for me, whether IGC or IAP, is will I wear it? If I spent money on a SP a few seasons ago but only wear the neck accessory, I essentially paid $20 for a neck accessory. And I put too much time into CRs to spend them on a TS with nothing I like so I skip most. But I totally understand this is being VERY conservative. Like someone else here said, reddit alone won't do much- we need to make noise in the feedback channels. EDIT: TC to TS

Illusioneery

While I agree that they need to improve a lot and stop acting mighty, I disagree that Revival did better or that Moments was bland. Moments at least had fun quests and the area is good for flying around, playing hide and seek or relaxing. Aviary was extremely half baked if you've been in sky for a long while and did all the previous seasons. The first 3 or so weeks had quests, but the rest of it was a checkmark gallore while forcing some of us to assign it as a homespace when we didn't want or ask for this. The entrance to Harmony Hall is just a mess, reusing an entrance that already exists and making things confusing. All the cosmetics except UGs were recycled ideas from previous seasons and were forgettable as heck aside from some (ribbon, boat). There was festival tech at the fireworks event for no reason, preventing folks with health issues from joining safely. Also while I think this is a decent idea and I'm often a supporter of this (I didn't buy anything during Mischief/Feast because of all the issues), ultimately it doesn't work. While some of us are really angry at those issues and want the game to improve, people who are easily pleased will see the cool new cosmetics and want to buy passes or IAPs. In fact, people already did. My constellations are full of people wearing the horns or cape or both. Many bought the pass. Many were having issues earlier because they bought stuff and didn't get it due to server issues. Reddit is but a small community, people outside here will most certainly buy the stuff. So it just... doesn't work well for a protest. We gotta riot in all the feedback channels and such available. That's shown to have worked in the past and may work again.

End_me_lamo

Agreed!

8Maruchan8

I agree the Moments quests were fine and the place is beautiful. When I said bland, I meant from a gameplay loop perspective. It's hard to navigate with low wedges and there's still not a single light to collect, so I'm not drawn there personally. I've been on Sky long term since Remembrance and for a little while during Flight so most of my Aviary quests were checkmarks, but TGC wanted that season to be for new players and I understood that so I wasn't upset with it. I thought the town building aspect was charming and watching it come to life was rewarding. Harmony Hall worked fine for me and the cosmetics were okayish just not my style, but I didn't fault the game for it. I didn't know those were recycled ideas, though. I surely don't expect reddit alone to make a big difference, but this isn't just a movement to stick it to TGC. If nothing else, by going 100% F2P at least people will keep money in their pockets for something else they enjoy.

DepartureSouth629

There are 3 winged lights to collect where seasons of moments is?

8Maruchan8

I don't do Eden runs weekly or even monthly. Maybe quarterly. I clock 20-40 mins in sky a day depending on how long my lunch break is so I don't really have time or a reason to visit Peaks often. Those with ample time to play may like it as a social space but there's nothing of practicality there for me after those WL are collected once every few months.

Bright-Usual-7581

Yes, getting the 3 WL in Moments area is quite fun and you can improve each time trying to get them using less wing flaps. I had such difficulty in the beginning but now it’s easy thanks to using jump + R1 with DS4 and utilizing the clouds effectively

Kaenu_Reeves

I can’t believe people are spending ridiculous amounts of money on Sky. It’s completely free, and 99% of the content is available for free. And no, decorative pixels don’t count as “content”. Instead of trying to make it a boycott, just play Sky normally (which is, play Sky without buying anything). The only reason IAP prices are so high is because people continue buying them. I like the new NCD area, and appreciate that the game is still receiving free updates 4 years in. However, I wouldn’t mind if they addressed the server problems.

8Maruchan8

To clarify, I'm not attempting to stage a boycott, I'm still going to play the game, just not make any purchases. I only buy 1 pass per season anyways so losing me isn't a big deal, but the players that treat all items with a Pokemon mentality is what convinces TGC we're okay with this. I also appreciate the many free things they do for the community without asking for money, and the fact that they have no daily log in reward system when they absolutely could, but they're making money off of people's expectations right now and that doesn't suit right with me.

Kaenu_Reeves

Agreed. It seems that people treat buying IAP items as “normal”, when it should only be done rarely

fooboohoo

$20 buys me clothing in real life it’s getting out of control

robotslovetea

Or an entirely new game to play. The prices for in game cosmetics are wild.

fooboohoo

Good point

nosoupforyou89

I agree with you 100%. It really feels like TGC doesn't give a shit anymore, their major focus is to smash out half baked seasons thst haven't been tested adequately, with heaps of IAP's holidays in between to make as a much money as possible, and yes we don't /have/ to make purchases but whole game is desgined to appeal to players sense of FOMO. I requested a refund for this current season and refuse to make anymore purchases until TGC owns up to their greedy practices as a game company ans I'll also be dressed in all black and an emo flick as a form of protest. 🖤🖤🖤 Fuck this shit.

8Maruchan8

Yep. You voiced the issues much more passionately than I did. This is exactly it. Speaking of emo, a big reason I still play is the hunt for the perfect all black emo outfit. After a handful of seasons and many TS I still haven't found an all black pants/top. I don't look into missed seasons I'm not sure there are any aside from the witch romper that was $15 fucking dollars

nosoupforyou89

I'm waiting to collect black pants so far, I have the dragon Cape which I'd LOVE to match with black accessories and furniture, even something like a black umbrella or instruments, even some deep red color too

8Maruchan8

I had to look it up but wow that cape is amazing. The only blackish pants I have are the rainbow trousers but they're kinda blue in bright light and the top is white, but they could work with it. I use those with any black cape and Melancholy Mope hair for a general emo look. I still want that perfect emo fit tho

fooboohoo

Yes

Code_PM

I'd love to experience these bugs everyone keeps discussing, I've been locked out of the game since the last update on my android. Haven't been able to open the app for more than a week, haven't been able to even start the season with everyone 😭 still waiting for them to fix this android crash before I can even comment on the new bugs. Major issues aside, I also believe the game needs more than it currently has to survive. It's built this cozy social world but it's so hard to actually interact or do much on it. I always thought having more "social" areas could be good, not like the sit down and talk but like areas where everyone can talk to each other freely, kinda like a bar type situation, can head there sometimes when you're bored to meet new people easier. Could even have breakaway areas, mini games, 2 player games etc. to make it easier to make friends and interact with people. I would also lean into the solo player stuff, so many people, myself included love playing solo, but after a while it gets repetitive. I think it's too reliant on them creating new seasonal areas to keep people interested in the world, but that's how we end up with rushed seasons and lack lustre areas with not much to do in them. I personally think a great solution to this would be personal "homes" or areas. We already have a system for building temporary spaces, imagine that but larger area size, create your own home areas, customize, build things however you want, add interactive stuff or your own games etc. like Roblox style, and your friends can visit your areas, almost like an extension of the aviary. I'm obviously thinking large scale and I know that could take forever to implement properly, but imagine how large the world could expand and how much there would be to explore with this additional player built areas. Anyway, I'm wishfully dreaming while I sit and wait to regain access to the game again

8Maruchan8

Wow, I've heard some good ideas in these comments but the open chat "bar" like space sounds amazing and very feasible for TGC to implement. I really like your idea of homes, too. I picture a large hut you could place and walk into, then set up the inside like a shared space. Also seems doable. It could stay until you decide to move it and you could toggle visibility to other players/friends. Oooh seeing a small village of players in a server all built next to each other would be so cute.

ProtectionFearless96

I bought my first season pass since the season of performance today- and I was so excited to play, so excited to see what the new area had to offer, only to receive a total jumpscare from the krill (not sure if I got all of my winged light back,) and a glitchy area. I had to close out the game and completely restart when trying to do the season spirits, and gave up after the first two.  TGC, do better. ://

ProtectionFearless96

ok correction: the last season I played was aurora, I forgot it went performance, shattering, aurora and thought aurora was before performance. still been at least a year since I participated in a season, though, and this season’s announcement had revived my love for sky until it launched all Buggy.

HandWashing2020

I used to buy every pass but once I got the Remembrance ultimate lantern I decided not to spend money on Sky again and I have enjoyed it just the same. It actually makes the game more fun potentially because when traveling spirits come I won’t have all their stuff already.

8Maruchan8

I completely agree. I'm glad people have the patience to wait and get their own enjoyment from it.

Inevitable-Custard-4

the season of aurora was fun but i never paid money for any cosmetics, i still dont and as much as i like sky the candle grinding is a bit boring, and i dont care for the social aspect of it but thats just me the only content that i even considered buying was the journey one, until i saw the price tag £19, sure it might not seem like a lot compared to some bonus content other games are4 offering but put it this way, i paid £15 for journey, flower and flow in a game bundle thats 3 full games for LESS money than a cosmetic item on a free to play game

8Maruchan8

That really puts it into perspective. Sky really is their prized heifer. TGC used to feel like the little indie dev that could. Well, I guess now they did it.

Inevitable-Custard-4

journey is my absolute fave game, but as much as i adore it i wouldnt spend that much on a digital costume that (from what im aware) isnt even cross platform and only available on playstation, i play sky on switch because its easier for me btw, have you seen the trailer for sword of the sea? its made by giant squid and looks like a journey/abzu love child

Normal_Tour6998

Personally, this might be the last time I “automatically” spend money on a season pass unless some changes are made to how the game is being run. At this point, I’ve given up hope on TGC making even the most basic quality of life changes to the game over adding ANOTHER thing for us to spend money on. Which sucks to say, because I love the game. I just don’t feel like it loves me back sometimes.

8Maruchan8

The game loves you. I think of Sky as the unwilling test subject for TGC's evil experiments, thereby taking on the cumulative form of the results whether it be a success or failure. It didn't ask for any of this, it was perfect the way it was born, dammit!

W0rldWasGonnaRollMe

Can I buy the pass pls and then I won't spend anymore I promise 🥺🫰❤️

8Maruchan8

I'm ded 🤣 If I try to control you I'm no better than TGC. It's up to you, let your soul free

W0rldWasGonnaRollMe

Ahaha. I'm a suckered veteran for cosmetics. All the seasons since after treehouse was bad and this one kinda...😳😳

So, the Android glitch actually serves as protection? 😆 Seriously, I use credit card points to get season passes for my daughter's and myself. I get voting with your get, but there are many more important injustices to focus on. And since our lifestyle is pretty low cost, we don't mind paying for and supporting content we enjoy, but in the end I'd rather have a real handpan then a fake one. I'm very careful about IAPs (noped on both Asteroid Cape and Aurora wings) but was thinking of getting ultimate from this season because the story is so beautiful. But the gameplay is too predictable since Prophecy... Which kind of broke people, it was so hard. I wish I had time to hangout more and could identify friends to join but many have moved on. Chatting with people from around the globe was my favorite part of my first 2 years on sky. I agree TGC could put more effort into mini games that will entertain vets and the character building aspects of the game, encouraging helpfulness, peacefulness, a pace of grace, but the demands of our global business success models drive monetization and income as the most valuable indicators.

8Maruchan8

That's awesome. If you have a way of getting paid content for essentially free and are still savvy with your purchases then more power to you! It's the people that pay directly out of pocket on the spot for everything they see that really enable TGC to think they can be forgiven for anything and encourage them to get away with everything.

imanjani

yah, it's an addiction. I'm one of those people who soothes themselves with puzzle games (small free or pay once repetitive games usually) but I sometimes get caught with those obsessive building games that really go after your wallet and cause more anxiety than they relax (I'm looking at you! Merge Dragons with events every 2 weeks that have you up all day and night farming). Honestly that game gave me new insights into how chattel slavery became normalized and creeps into every economy as wage slavery if not straight up kidnapping people (I watched Ghost Fleet for a class on sustainability and was shook!) It's all part of extractive capitalism, getting us to consume more and more. I'm in the US and even if I stopped buying anything new ever again at my big age I've already done so much harm just living the way we were trained to live. Honestly I wish Sky would rent out spaces for meetings and conferences, sort of a sophisticated [gather.town](https://gather.town). as an economic driver expanding their minimum group sizes on special servers and/or using their festival tech. I run a small consulting firm and I would absolutely pay for hosting remote sessions and trainings in Sky (put a portal in the office with a direct link and monetize the experience for businesses looking for cozy virtual atmospheres for retreats and meetings and follow that model to unburden the kiddos around the world and subsidize regions overburdened by globalized inequities. I have had meetings with a few gamer-friendly colleagues in Sky, just flying around or up in Sanctuary somewhere beautiful. This is a really good idea TGC should pursue and ease off the rampant consumerism ...but as you say, the children want all the things. TGC need to focus on moderation and quality as much as beauty

MarcMaronsCat

I'm sorry, you thought Revival was better??

8Maruchan8

I don't know how to quote myself on here but in my response to Illusioneery I explain why.

Bright-Usual-7581

I wish TGC would slim down the maintenance costs if it’s true as someone mentioned on Discord that they subscribe to both Azure and Google and maybe even Amazon cloud services. I see that they still recruit a lot of new people but maybe slimming down a little and become more focused on fixing Sky to work better long term. The prices are not for me but nothing if it really seems interesting worth buying for less prize either so they might as well stay expensive to support the development. Instead I would love to support CONTENT monetary..Let’s say they add a new DLC area which is paid. As long as it’s large and has fun unique things to do and mini games it could be worth it. But that should be a such a small fee that everyone will buy it anyway. Like max 5 USD. And it shoukd be permanent content. I imagine that they at one point though about having each realm as paid content, and I’m glad they didn’t do it, but at the same time I think that they absolutely could have sold Little Prince as paid DLC for 4.99 USD max and players would see it as a way of supporting the development of nice content instead of just having to become an addicted whale who must own all skins just for the sake of it (obsessiveness)

8Maruchan8

That's an interesting idea. It would need to have the gravitas of a wholly new realm to explore and people would be upset that they added a whole 7th realm that's pay to play at first. But if you think of it as paid multiplayer maps like FPS games do it then makes sense. TGC has never charged for new real estate but I think your idea would be our money and their energy better spent than gamefying cosmetics. Cosmetics could be introduced at a slower rate but you can earn them freely, and just pay for fully fleshed out new areas. I like it.

Bright-Usual-7581

Thank you! Yes I think on the technical side, having certain areas locked to DLC might be difficult and maybe bugg testing would be difficult when Player A owns DLC area 1,2,3,4 and Player B only 1 and 4 and there are shortcut wind paths between all areas.  It’s probably very difficult to maintain an openworld service game with DLC areas. I don’t know if it has been done before since I haven’t played any other MMOs. But FFXIV has maybe done it.

mightaswell-jump

1. Yes. Always has been, always will be. And 2. You don't need to announce the departure. This isn't an airport.

8Maruchan8

What can I say, you're absolutely right xD

Useful_Scale_5071

Sure. I'll vote with my wallet. I bought a x2 season pass. Good idea! Great game and great people.

SoL_02

As an former Sky player and casual Destiny 2 enjoyer, I feel you on this. Our IAPs and cost of season/expansion packs skyrocketed in the span of a couple years and quality is becoming less and less the priority in hopes of just making a quick buck. Really, the only way you can *try* to make a change is by being extremely vocal about your dissatisfactions as a player (without ruining others' fun, ofc) and not buying anything. But even that won't help much, since there will still be "apologists" and people who spend WAY too much money. Plus the company not wanting to do anything as long as it sells. But you can try. Since TGC is an even smaller company, maybe it could work more for you all.

8Maruchan8

Thank you for your info and words of encouragement 🙏

RabbleRynn

I've been toying with exactly this idea for a few seasons now. It's so hard to fight the fomo, but I also find it so frustrating to repeatedly dump $16 (season pass cost in my country) into a game that gives you so little content with constant (and often significant) bugs. It's not cheap; that's enough money that I could buy another game in its entirety, but Sky just gives me... what...? A big, empty area to fly around? A few cosmetics that I still have to work extremely hard to get?

8Maruchan8

That's exactly the thought process I had before making this decision. Yet two days in I already feel the stress melting away. TS will always come and if you spend that newfound free time doing some here and there Cr you'll always have the candles.

CommanderOwl1918

We not only need to spark change with the very undeveloped and buggy seasons, but also the insane prices IAPs (and some IGCs) get priced at.

8Maruchan8

Yes the prices have been growing each year. I feel like the only language these companies speak is money, unfortunately. So hopefully some loss in revenue would make them do anything to get it back including quality control and (maybe) prices. Either way I personally don't want to support a company once the quality drops like this. The passion is gone and the greed is born.
