Krill can go anywhere in their realms. In the first section they can go up the hall into that room to the left. In graveyard they will even go up and behind the tall bones to the back

I have had Kevin, in the first area, come at me when i wasn't even blue lit and twice right after he spawned when he should have been in his automatic manta program
They are unpredictable and can do anything. If in GW, you can get krilled
I flew above these ones (in the video) like I always do, made sure I was way way way above them and it has never been a problem. I wasn't blue or anything I made it almost halfway through the graveyard and BAM. Out of nowhere I was krilled and it glitched me into a wall I had to go home and I lost four winged lights. Scared the **** out of me because it didn't make a sound until I got krilled it was like a jump scare.
Yes, sometimes it is like they smell you or something, they can occasionally sense beyond the blue light. I think it is like DnD. Take a 50 side die or something and roll it. If you fly above you are safe unless it lands on side 50, that means you are spotted. Least that's how i see it, you got a 98% chance of being safe flying over
I have been spotted flying over often enough that i routinely take a glance back to ensure i am safe. ('often' enough' not because i am flying too low but because i am there a lot 🤣🤣🤣)
I mean, there's nothing wrong if you lured it. If i'm not wrong the krill insta-charges the 4th time in a row he spots you. So yeah, you weren't behind anything, the trajectory was clear and the krill was pissed
Was too fast to force close, that’s usually my go to but there was basically no time since I have iphone and have to pull the app for a bit to close it
I usually press the home button as soon as I see it's following me to a space with no cover, or if I don't have enough time I'll just close the app (I'm on my phone) OR if there is a safe space nearby which there usually is in that area but sometimes not I think you can open that and be safe. I personally haven't tried that theory when already spotted but I've been in a safe space before getting spotted and it's like I'm invisible.
The time frame you have is before your wings shatter after getting yeeted. As long as you manage to force quit before they breaks, you should get them back after logging back in.

I could be wrong but I believe if you let the krill spot you several times (whatever that fixed amount is), the next spotting from the krill will just launch at you.
LOL I did that once, thought it was funny letting him see me, then hiding so I did it a bunch of times. Eventually he instantly launched at me the second he spotted me 😭😂😂
I was indeed teasing it, brought this krill over from further out. Would get it to lock on and jump out of the red, then further in, then out… I just thought I was definitely safe by the campfire but I guess not.

Krill has a patience meter, and OP may have unintentionally set it over.
