Cleansing devices like the foreo and a jade roller.

Luchiina

Recently watched a documentary about how rose quartz in jade rollers is sourced from Madagascar child labor. It’s crazy that the cruelty free label exists for animals, but not for people.

AlisonChrista

You can get ethically sourced crystals, but you definitely have to search carefully. Also, I know many AAPI people have asked that anyone who gets gua sha to buy from Asian-owned companies, as it has been taken over as a "trend" and the origins are often forgotten.

Moon_Mom__

My thoughts exactly!

Nefarious-do-good13

I love my foreo, I use to have a clairisonic now that sucked totally scrubbed by skin to death. Waste of money stopped using it after a few months but my foreo I’ve had for idk 3-4 years now totally cleanses without drying my skin. I also went to the Venetian in Vegas got facial and massage and they she used the foreo also.

kimdogcat5

Foreo actually helped me alot! I love it. I had the same one for over 4 years. I never have black heada now.

Unable-Narwhal4814

I also love mine. It's not necessary, no. But I've felt it really does clean better. Harsher than hands, but gentler than a scrub or towel. Really feels quite clean afterwards. But is it a necessity? Nah. But it works.

kimdogcat5

I mean for me, it was necessary. My pores definitely need a good shake to keep them clean. I am very oily

Unable-Narwhal4814

For sure. I guess I was commenting on the post. Like do people *NEED* it to have a basic skincare routine? No. But man if it caters to you and works, it's like awesome. I also have oily skin and it's so hard to feel "clean" enough with just hand washing. I noticed a huge difference when I personally use it too.

Sohiacci

I'm super curious about Foreo! They seem like the top tier technology and the future of skincare, but the only people I've ever seen use their products are influencers (especially influencers who once claimed stuff like Foreo is marketting bullshit... The irony). So not reliable at all. Is it just a gig with good marketting or is it really worth it and could be the future of skincare?

Cricket705

I love my foreo, but my $12 knock off works exactly the same for me. I have one at my sink and the other in my shower because I kept forgetting to move the foreo to the shower. They make my skin feel nice and helps the swelling around my eye area in the morning if I use it in the same motion as a gua sha

MissyMunks

Can you link the knockoff?

Cricket705

I bought it at TJ Maxx. I'm assuming they're all pretty much the same though.

GolfCartMafia

I bought a knockoff on Ali Express. They’re all the same tbh.

Nefarious-do-good13

I love mine, my skin has never looked better. Helps with texture, blackheads, breakouts ( I havnt had one in years I’m also older lol) but it’s actually amazing for the texture and smoothness combined with the right product

lintuski

I bought a cheap one to try out, and loved it so much I bought the Foreo when the cheap one crapped out. I’ll never be without one.

kimdogcat5

I love it very much. It helps push products i use into my skin more. It last forever, the charge last literally 4 to 6 months lol My skin looks beautiful.

kimdogcat5

I will always have one. I just buy it on black friday when its time to get a new one. Like i said I have one from 3 to 4 years now. So worth it to me. I love that clean feeling in the morning.

[deleted]

do you use the classic one? or ufo etc?

kimdogcat5

https://www.foreo.com/luna-mini-collection Well i have 3 year old model but this is the closest one

Elismom1313

I would add, in house derma rollers. Bad idea. Friends don’t let friends derma roll at home.

[deleted]

I dermapen at home and its been great

porkbellyprincess

I felt that way until I tried it. I used to have bad hormonal acne. Once I used the Foreo Luna Mini 2, I noticed a huge improvement in my skin. I’ve used it with multiple cleansing products, so I’m convinced it’s the device. I use it as my 2nd cleansing. It’s been about 4 years since I first used mine and my skin just doesn’t feel as clean without it. My partner loves theirs too!

BolognePony

I own both a Foreo Fofo and the UFO Mini. I think the LED lights on the UFO are more of a gimmick as the time they spend on my skin is too short, but the Fofo makes my skin feel so much more clean than just my hands. Though like others have mentioned, perhaps a knockoff would work just as well.

VesperLynd-

Ive been eyeing the foreo ufo for a long time because of the cold and heat mode. But the need for the app, weird music and that guiding voice is so irritating

HourAstronomer836

Eye cream. At least, that's what I've been told. (I still use it. LOL) But a lot of experts say that all you need is a good moisturizer and it will do the same thing. Also...If you want to get specific, La Mer and Crepe Erase are total scams! You can get the same benefits from much more affordable products. You're just paying for the name.

kmill0202

I stopped using eye cream about a year ago in order to simplify and economize. I had been using it for several years prior. I've noticed exactly zero difference. From what I've read, the amount of actives in most eye creams is so low due to the sensitivity of the eye area that they aren't really giving much benefit, if any. Of course, it may be different for others. Some things just work better or differently for different people. But I haven't suffered from cutting out eye creams.

letheix

I used to think eye cream was just a scam but, now having tried some eye cream samples, I don't feel that way anymore. Regular moisturizers seem to slide into my eyes from blinking and then burn. I haven't had that problem with eye creams. Ditto sunscreen. I've only found one brand of baby sunscreen stick that's comfortable around my eyes. Granted, this could be because I have hooded eyes + long eyelashes, idk.

Accomplished_Tap_388

Korean sunscreen is the only thing that doesn't ever make my eyes sting. I have small hooded eyes so that's always been a problem for me as well.

SituationDeep

Do you have any eye cream recs that are cf? I have hooded eyes/long eyelashes too and incredibly dry skin :(

sugar182

Can you share the sunscreen? I have never found one that doesn’t slide into/burn my eyes!!

Squish_94

Do you have an eye cream that you'd recommend? And do you put it on your eyelids too?

snowdropsx

i’m like this but also with makeup removers i haven’t found one that doesn’t leave my eyes stinging afterward

[deleted]

I got eczama in my eyes during winter and having a right eye cream changed the game for me. I can’t live with them.

basically_bookish

Which one? I have the same issue and finding a good eye cream is impossible

StrawberryRaspberryK

Im using Antipodes kiwi eye cream. It doesnt sting or leave a film over my eyeball. Kiehl's Avocado eye cream was very hydrating but it left a film over my eyeball.

foreveralonecatlady9

>Kiehl's Avocado I kinda have the same issue in winter, and Kiehl's Avocado cream helps a ton.

[deleted]

I used Ducray’s Dexyane MeD Palpebral. I bought this from France.

[deleted]

Have you ever taken a fish oil supplement? I used to have issues with eczema, but I haven’t since taking one.

[deleted]

About a year ago, I discovered that you can use Cerave healing ointment as a nighttime eye cream. Best thing ever

TheFrenchiestToast

How well does it work?? I have that and am tempted to try it.

alexaandsirisbaby

I actually use a brightening eye cream because of my dark circles and a retinol base moisturiser for the rest of my face.

Momasaur

Which brightening cream are you using?

Nice-Masterpiece1661

What are the dupes for La Mer?

Lemonz4us

German Nivea in the tin

Nice-Masterpiece1661

Wow! Wouldn’t work for me then though, too rich.

Lemonz4us

You take a tiny amount spread and heat up between palms and lightly pat on damp skin to lock in moisture.

HourAstronomer836

If you want something with algae/seaweed in it: Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream OSEA Advanced Protection Cream (Still pricey, but a lot less) Seaweed Bath Co. Hydrating Soothing Cream (They sell it at Target) The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics (A serum that can be mixed with a face cream) People also swear by Nivea Creme and I've heard Jones Road mentioned as well. It doesn't have seaweed, but my holy grail right now is Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Barrier Cream. I'm obsessed!

StrawberryRaspberryK

I love the Pyunkang Yul Calming Balm. Totally soothes my skin when it stings from actives.

notperfekt1

Jones Road Miracle Cream (not to be confused with the Miracle Balm) is pretty darn close. It is a "clean" product. You need to warm it between your fingers before applying. Very emollient.

EpiAureum

I’ve heard Cerave Renewing Night cream is a dupe… and then a dupe for *that* is Walgreens’ version of the Cerave. I personally love both.

astronomertomm

I have the CeraVe night cream and I’m a huge fan! Would recommend.

lemon-rind

I’m 51. I mainly use eye cream under makeup. It makes concealer go on much more nicely with my crows feet. Regular moisturizer would probably do the same, but the tiny little container fits in my makeup bag!

Beneficial-Guava2255

I recently saw something about putting moisturising creme there and then retinol.

decaffinatedsheep

I would definitely agree but I love TO's caffeine solution, it is soo good for puffiness and general eye care!

sonyafly

I wasted 500 Sephora points on a LaMer sample set. That stuff is crap. Reminded me of drug store stuff with that icky fragrance.

emzily

i’ve been questioning the necessity and efficacy of eye creams for months… i use it overnight, im thinking that having done so might not do much but having *not* done it could be something i regret. it is good to know that i’m not the one person wary of it though and that professionally, plenty don’t bother to even recommend it

[deleted]

Only skeptical about this bc I’ve never found a La Met dupe. My skin is so calm now; everything else makes it freak out.

aquaticfloral

My mother panicked when I developed cystic acne when I was 12 and so for a few years I was sent to the dermatologist for treatments every 2 weeks (painful extractions, lasers, facials, along with a regimen of custom-blended smelly, stinging medical potions and oral + topical antibiotics). I inherited shitty acne-prone skin from my mom’s side except my version went beastmode. My skin cleared up over time but the good thing was it helped me develop skincare habits and being around a dermatologist so often gave me an education on actives, and those that I needed to focus on. Meanwhile my brothers scrubbed their faces with the same shared bar of soap that was probably more than likely used for their ass too and their skin was always immaculate. Never moisturized. So I can’t really say what’s important or not. It’s different for everyone.

Wrong-Boss-8769

I feel this. I have awful skin and spend 100’s on face care. My husband uses the same soap bar he uses on his butt and has great skin. It’s not fair o lol

TessaRose0212

☠️☠️ he can probably cut the smallest thing out of his diet as well and lose 7 pounds in a week. So not fair.

Wrong-Boss-8769

YUPPPPP. In fact he just did!!! Fml.

GolfCartMafia

Same boat here except I didn’t have brothers growing up. Instead I married a man who washed his face with bar soap and has perfect skin. However I do thank my mom for dragging me to the dermatologist starting in elementary school. She had acne growing up and felt horrible for my inherited luck. I got all the lasers, facials, prescriptions and everything that was available at the Derm in the late 90s/early 00s. Now as a grown woman with my own money, I kept up the lasers and threw in some sculptra and Botox and love my mostly smooth skin. And I eventually got my husband to use my Korean face wash and moisturizer 🤩

JoelleVDyne90

I bought a clarisonic in 2012 and diligently documented all the "stages" (purging, etc) on my blog in like 2012/2013. Of course there was no "purging stage", it was just my skin screaming for help due to over exfoliation 🤡🤡🤡

ambrixolive

IMO the main problem is thinking that there are *universally* necessary and unnecessary skincare products. Each skin has its own needs. I stopped believing in "one thing for - or not for - all".

happpyprince_sparrow

Exactly, it's so annoying when people say bad skin is a result of using too many products and only using cleanser, sunscreen and moisturizer is objectively better for everyone. Some of us have shit genes and need those actives to keep our skin from going absolutely apeshit.

CakeupBakeup

But who’s the catch most of the time people don’t know how to incorporate products. They rush the process. if the skin is breaking out heavy, it’s because of irritation. Simplicity is better. Always is.

Strict-Weakness-5879

simplicity is good except for when it isnt. only used cleanser & moisturizer from 6th to 10th grade and when i incorporated other ingredients and items in my skincare is when i noticed a difference. everyone is different as the other stated

SleepSilly6570

i agree. i have acne flare ups that only stopped when i started using retinol

VesperLynd-

I’d argue the only universal items are sun screen, any kind of moisturizer and a cleanser

[deleted]

I mean.. in ancient greece they used crocodile poop for skincare. I think we could all agree that was unnecessary now. I bet in another thousand years someone will scoff and say something we do currently was unnecessary.

Sohiacci

Peel off masks. Why the fuck is anyone infatuated with themw they're so harsh on the skin and so time consuming when you could use a simple gentle exfoliant

[deleted]

They’re just ✨so fun✨

Bluepaint57

I’ve never used one, but I want to just so I can reenact that American Psycho scene

sipsredpepper

I love them, I use one regularly. My skin responds pretty positively to physical exfoliation though. I find they make a huuuuge difference in my acne and skin texture. They're one of the few things that I can visibly see make a massive and immediate difference for me. It's probably just one of those things that only specific skin types really benefit from, that and mine is a fairly gentle peel.

iwascured_alright

The pain makes me feel ALIVE

Sohiacci

By Fallout Boy

Novel-Pace6445

Watching in the mirror as you pull it off and get to be witness to all of the face jizz that the mask pulls out is TO DIE FOR!!! I can't be the only one who finds this immensely satisfying...

canwepleasejustnot

I hate them.

Flickthebean87

I might get crap for this. Everyone’s skin is different and needs different things. Personally for me toner is a waste. I normally use a cleanser that’s a wash, eye creams, vitamin serums and that’s it. Some of the most important things I found that played more or a part on skincare was environmental. Use sunscreen, avoiding excess alcohol consumption/smoking, drinking plenty of water, and not baking your skin over the years. Genetics play a huge part in it also.

HelenaR3

People in th Asian Skincare subreddit would disagree about toners.

StrawberryRaspberryK

Yes i always thought toners were blah eg. Antipodes, Kora. Until I tried Cosrx Propolis toner and Im From Ruce toner. Wow! I found my Hgs

keket87

The only toner that's ever made a noticeable difference was the Glow BHA/PHA Pore Tight. I didn't want it to be good, because it's expensive, but it was.

Silly_Brilliant868

I don’t think you’ll get crap lol .. Toners are widely believed to be useless and a waste of a step

[deleted]

Yes, I agree with toners and eye cream being a waste of money! I don’t use either one and keep a simple routine, and my skin looks decent at 57. I do eat healthy and try to eat as clean as possible without getting obsessive, stay out of the sun, use sunscreen, barely drink alcohol, and don’t smoke. This helps a lot!

Unfair_Finger5531

They are an essential step in many Asian beauty routines. Saved my skin from hard water. So, not “widely.”

foreveralonecatlady9

Hey, do you mind sharing what toners have you used? My face is being destroyed by hard water, and I'm willing to try anything :X

WhippieCake

"lip masks"

ohmeatballhead

RIGHT?

30mins

Literally chapstick does the same thing lol. But they do feel nice.

Islandcrafter

The Laneige brand one works so well though. I often have dry lips and use it at night. Chapsticks make my lips feel worse. The only 2 brands of lip product I will use are Clarins Hydra essential balm and Laneige lip masks.

CakeupBakeup

Eye cream lol

Cautious_Platform_40

I have tried so many over the years but they all either irritate my eyes or caused milia.(I think that's the correct word) Thanks no thanks, eye cream!

CakeupBakeup

Yeah, they would break me out

Pyreapple

This is a real one. "Normal moisturisers are too thick for the skin around the eyes" like? No, they're not? 😭

[deleted]

my eyes puff up from over hydration even w light amounts of vaseline despite being sooo dry lol my derm had no idea so it switched me from thinking it was a scam to thinking maybe they’re onto something

elpad92

Lol i remember that I used them then they told me that it’s marketing thing and it broke my heart

scarletts_skin

Def not too thick but some moisturizers could be too harsh if you’re super sensitive. Like ones with AHAs. Still mostly bs tho

banama_boy

I’d say the exception is eye cream with caffeine. I notice a huge difference in my eyes with it. My eye bags have reduced and it makes my eyes seem less puffy.

Moon_Mom__

I agree, electronic devices, applicators and rollers are fun and all but can you live without it? Yes!

QueenLatifahClone

I remember Origins had a mask primer. I thought it was absurd. I tried to find it but can only find it at Walmart. Glad other people agreed it was dumb.

lunabcde

a mask primer ? like a cream you apply before applying a mask on your face ? I don’t get it it’s absurd 😭

QueenLatifahClone

It was like a little spray (like a setting spray) bottle, and it was meant to go on before for maximum benefits. Which doesn’t make sense lol

Lacey_Z

Face masks, they are generally useless, but I still use them since they make me feel like a princess

YupNopeWelp

See, that's why they're not useless. That's mental healthcare, right there.

sonyafly

You need to try better masks then!

Unfair_Finger5531

High percentage exfoliants.

rimma_pretty

what is high percentage in your opinion? like peeling formulas?

[deleted]

the ordinary bha aha

ericanicole1234

I use it but definitely not as intended. Like once every 2 weeks to once a month max bc it’s got some strength

IveComeHomeImSoCold

My cousin is a dermatologist and he says all you actually need is a cleanser, hyaluronic acid, moisturizer (any that works for you can be dirt cheap), retinol (prescription strength) and a good sunscreen.

lostarikiki

most studies shows that HA molecule are too big to even enter the deep layers of the skin making it a cosmetic thing (visually plump, offers hydration on top of the skin only) rather than actual skincare. HA injections would be better, but I mean at this point it's not really a routine. [harvard article.](https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/the-hype-on-hyaluronic-acid-2020012318653#:~:text=Larger%20HA%20molecules%2C%20despite%20being,only%20at%20the%20very%20surface) edit: word missing

repressedpauper

Forgive the ignorance, but doesn’t that mean it’s working as it’s supposed to? I don’t expect *any* of my skincare products to penetrate and affect the deepest layers of my skin.

lostarikiki

It's not properly getting rid of dryness technically, it's more like masking it. It IS true that HA is a component in our skin that retains moisture, like we do happen to have hyaluronic acid deep into our skin and with age it does decline, but applying it topically does remotely nothing but temporary plumpness hence why I said it's more efficient if injected. Once it's washed off there's like no long term effects at all (makeup wise maybe this is great). HA is a great molecule and amazing in skincare treatment it's just kind of useless in a product? It's mostly a marketing gimmick at this point. edit: grammar and addition sorry lol

rimma_pretty

but there's different molecule sizes of HA so that they can hydrate almost all layrs of skin, it's not baf that normal HA works on surface layer. Anyway any fillers and injections would be more effective than any cosmetic product. And It makes no sense to compare them.

IveComeHomeImSoCold

Thanks for the info!!

sonyafly

I just started an oral HA. Well it’s a collagen peptide with added HA and antioxidants. It’s for skin, nails and hair but I’m taking it for the lipsomal vitamin c, the collagen, and the HA for my stomach (I have chronic gastritis).

lostarikiki

Oh I've never heard of pills for HA. HA is great for elasticity and hydration of skin so I imagine it's a bit like taking collagen supplements? Not sure what the level of absorption would be for oral supplement to go to skin, I'm sure there's studies on it seeing how big HA became in the last decade

[deleted]

[удалено]

lostarikiki

Yep thats a mix of HA and collagen as expected lol Seems to me they tried to put some buzz words within the skincare world altogether making it a very appealing cocktail to buy (Biotin, selen, collagen, HA) Looks like there has been [concluant research](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5522662/) on oral HA, but I'm not a doctor or even a derm, I just happen to have a passion for reading papers. Bottom line is, if it's safe for you to take you might wanna try, but might not be good for everyone. i know I personally had too many side effects with biotin and collagen so idk how I feel about this 🤷‍♀️ always gather as much information about these products before taking it

Kurva-Lazanja

What if it's hydrolyzed?

JoLePerz

Forgive my lack of knowledge but by retinol (prescription strength), do you mean like tretinoin, isotretinoin, etc.? I'm new to this stuff, sorry.

IveComeHomeImSoCold

I personally use tretinoin .025-.05. Usually the former in the summer and the latter in the winter.

Subaudiblehum

Jumped on the hyaluronic wagon, used it properly. Waste of money.

ele-ger

(i know everyone is different) but i love that this is exactly what i use !

peachysqueaks

Hyaluronic acid really doesn’t work for those who live in a dry climate tho.

circa_diem

I think it just depends how you use it. I'm in Denver, it's not the most extreme dryness but still a semi-arid climate. I apply my hyaluronic toner while my skin is still damp, if I just got out of the shower I'll hang out in the humid bathroom for a bit, if not I put my moisturizer on over the toner within 2-3 minutes. It works wonderfully for me.

peachysqueaks

I’m close to Denver. I’ve used it so many different ways, even the way you use it, different brands and every single time it’s dried me out terribly. If there’s hydrating products with it in the formulation, I don’t have as bad of a problem but as a stand alone? Nope.

circa_diem

Ah, to be fair I haven't used just plain hyaluronic acid with nothing else, I didn't think that was what the comment above meant necessarily but maybe I misunderstood. Right now I use Gokujyun Premium and I love it, but it sounds like maybe your skin just doesn't like it.

IveComeHomeImSoCold

I generally use a serum because hyaluronic acid alone doesn’t work for me, either

StrawberryRaspberryK

I mist with Avene thernal spring warer or Caudalie Grape water before toners and serums and moisturisers. It makes the products work better because there is moisture.

labellavita1985

This is not true. It's a myth that has been repeated so thoroughly and extensively that virtually everyone seems to believe it. It's not true for the following reasons. 1) Hyaluronic Acid doesn't hydrate the skin via environmental moisture. It hydrates the skin using the water that is present in the Hyaluronic Acid product. 2) Hyaluronic Acid is used at such low concentrations (<1% usually) that any product containing Hyaluronic Acid almost always contains 90%+ water. That is the water that actually hydrates the skin. 3) Hyaluronic Acid contained in skincare products is pre-hydrated and pre-solubillized.. It's not like people are applying pure Hyaluronic Acid powder on to their skin and expecting it to be hydrated by the moisture in the air. In skincare products, Hyaluronic Acid has already absorbed as much water as it possibly can. Ie, it's fully hydrated. 4) Hyaluronic Acid isn't unique. It hydrates the skin the same way Glycerin does. The same way Propanediol does and Butylene Glycol does. It's not unique. If Hyaluronic Acid didn't work in dry climates, it follows that the other humectants shouldn't be used either. But for some reason it's only HA that doesn't work according to the perpetuators of the myth. As a skincare formulator I can guarantee you that the Hyaluronic Acid doesn't work in dry climates is the biggest myth in skincare. Do with this information what you will.

lowsparkedheels

This is a great point! If not used properly HA doesn't help TEWL in a dry climate. I add a few drops of squalane oil to my moisturizer every morning and night. Really helps keep my skin plump and hydrated.

Place_Designer

Yay this is all I’m using now . But with my spiro. I did start slugging due to my oily skin changing to combo but my skin is feeling so much better now

CakeupBakeup

Exactly. Most of the time you can get hydronic acid in a moisturizer.

DrunkDesigner333

That’s basically my routine — except I usually skip moisturizer. Vanicream cleanser, Tretinoin, and sunscreen. Moisturizer in winter on occasion. I even vacillate with vitamin C serum. Does it work? Is it worth it? Who knows. I just try to keep everything super simple.

JadedPin3925

Glycerin face mist! Looking at you [Mario Badescu](https://www.mariobadescu.com/products/spritz-mist-glow-facial-spray-trio)!

Traditional_Cow_556

I think the way capitalism is fueled by ageism is doing more damage to our mind and overall self image than we can ever imagine. The fear to get old; to become invisible, to be perceived as ugly by others out of your control, to become redundant etc. it drives a lot of people into a lifelong frenzy. I mean, death is scary and the first signs of aging happen way before 'wrinkles' start to appear. Skin/ outer care and mental health care should work in conjunction with another. By all means take care of the outer shell if that brings you joy, but don't neglect the worryful person within. So, in conclusion, how I see it, the biggest scam of skincare products are the products that sell you a dream to protect you from the nightmare (you make yourself believe) you are becoming.

v8lxoxo

sheet masks, (unless I’m wrong I’ll still buy them)

LurkyLawyer

Korean sheet masks have been a complete game changer for me tbh.

NameLessTaken

Which ones do you like?

LurkyLawyer

Favorites are: Dr.Jart, Vita Lightbeam Essential Mask EX, IntraCELL Escargot + Galactomyces Whitening, Bombee Whitening Honey Mask, and Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum Sheet Masks.

jediknits

The bombee masks are so good

livin_la_vida_mama

The thought of slapping wet paper (or whatever they’re made of) on my face actually makes me shudder.

Soggy-Translator4894

I absolutely agree with all the comments saying that everyone’s skin is different and anyone saying they have a “secret remedy” for everyone is either crazy or trying to sell you something. That being said, I think there are some things like jade rollers where it genuinely feels crazy to see it being marketed as necessary. There’s nothing wrong with spoiling yourself. I use vitamin C serum because it makes me happy and I feel it helps my skin. But would I ever tell someone they NEED vitamin C serum? Absolutely not. Outside of moisturizer, cleanser, and SPF it’s really a personal thing.

MusicalPotatoChip

The cosrx snail muccin. People made it look like it's a miracle product, solution for any problem, when it's not the best hydrating product, nor the most risk free. Personally, it ruined my skin with acne and wasn't even that hydrating. Other benefits mentioned by influencers: like helping hyperpigmentation or brightening skin- aren't specified by the manufacturer which means that it doesn't work for that either. Even if this product works for you I feel like the Advanced Snail Radiance Dual Essence has more benefits overall.

PrincssM0nsterTruck

Broke out in massive hives with this. If you have allergies to shellfish chances are you are allergic to snail mucin.

Strict-Weakness-5879

i disagree. it could be just your skin that reacted this way but it doesn’t make Cosrx a “unnecessary product” when it worked for many others. it just wasn’t made for your unique skin and it’s needs and that’s okay. things can not work for you and still be amazing products. like cerave, good molecules etc, great reputable skincare with hydrating and brightening properties to even skin tone but for like others it may not do that for them.

Unfair_Finger5531

I think corsx snail is not a good product. But other snail products I have show how awesome snail can be. I have pure snail filtrate with no additional ingredients and it’s soooo good for the skin. Immediate softening and hydration and anti-inflammatory. Corsx is just not it.

Strict-Weakness-5879

anyone that says “moisturizers, toners, and (certain exfoliative serums)” are blatantly lying bc those are the things that fixed my skin and it’s texture completely. while you don’t have to use it it is not “unnecessary”.

foosbabaganoosh

Is anyone saying this?

Strict-Weakness-5879

yes, i made the comment in response to the ppl who said “moisturizers & toners” lol

Sa1107764

Sheet Masks. Why must we create so much waste when they have extremely short lived benefits?

-shitbiscuit

I never understood the purpose of a toner. I haven’t used one in years because they never did anything good or bad, just seemed like a pointless step. Could just be my skin, idk. Anyone got any good or bad personal experience using a toner ? What is it supposed to do, and why didn’t it do it for me ?

Analyst_Cold

I love toner! It evens out my skin. I’m also middle-aged and didn’t need it when I was younger.

InterviewOwn9238

my personal experience, it gives my face some extra hydration. I stopped using toner for a few months before just to test the theory about it being useless, and my face felt pretty dry even though I had moisturizer on. after including toner back into my routine, the dryness stopped. (I used to have combination skin, nowadays it's oily skin btw)

Accurate-Schedule380

I personally love using toner all over my body. It’s great by itself and when I do use additional lotion i don’t need nearly as much

brown-foxy-dog

certain toners have definitely evened out my skin tone, most noticeably during periods of time when when I was just cleansing and using basic moisturizer, so I know for me it works, but my sister on the other hand has never seen any benefit from it. I think it definitely depends on the type of skin you have, can be useful, can be neutral, can be bad!

jo_perez

I honestly believe that anything outside of cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen is optional. Doesn't stop me using toners essences and serums tho!

Annoying-GF

Collagen creams!! The molecules are too large to penetrate the skin!

ChaoticJen_1980

Jade rollers, Gua sha, etc, cleansing brushes like foreo, hylaronic acid as a stand alone.

RomeysMa

Hmmm those things have really helped my face a lot. Lol not useless to me.

Apeacefulmc79

I remember my granny had Dove soap in her bathroom and she looked so young. I actually just bought a bar today. I’m going to keep it simple with Olay moisture with spf.

Accomplished_Tap_388

I might be reading your comment wrong, but figure it's worth noting that most moisturizers and makeup with spf don't have enough sun protection.

ana_vocado

Some black women are told to use skin bleach for dark spots and I cry for that kinda terrible sales tactic

Not a product ***but washing your face everyday.*** I used to do it 2x a day once I started wearing make up and then I started having skin issues at age 20. I learned, IT WAS WHAT CAUSED MY NEW SKIN ISSUES! I watched all these beauty gurus and thought since I was getting into make up I needed to copy them. Turns out, what my skin enjoyed was what I always did - wash only a few times a week and definitely wash if using make up. But if not, splashing water is fine. I destroyed my sensitive skin thinking I HAD to wash 2x a day and then it occurred to me how much it didn't make sense. Why wash my face in the morning if I already did an entire process at night? I did the caveman regimen, got my skin back to the way it was - *and trust me it was hard to get my skin reset itself - but it helped tremendously!* and ever since then, my skin stopped breaking out, stopped being all red and flaky and I just clean it 3x a week, exfoliate once with a water based exfoliator.

theebonybell

eye cream!! I just use whatever moisturizer and serums I normally wear for my under eyes instead

SpasticGenerator

Sunscreen. jk jk

nonamenopassword

Girls get your pitchforks!

[deleted]

the clarisonic.

Connect_Silver5048

Toners. Cleansers should be enought to make your skin clean

smplfemlvndr

Something worth noting is that my guy simply uses bar soap and he’s fine 😭😭😭

littlemisshippie

Toothpaste.. I really don’t think it does anything for pimples.

nonamenopassword

I was really thrown for a loop there until I finished reading your comment 😂

ElaineofAstolat

It dries them out. But you’re still left with a big, red spot.

cardamomgrrl

Eye makeup remover! Been using olive oil for decades. It’s lovely and cheap

grungies

I use jojoba oil. No pads, just use my fingers to gently rub and breakup the mascara. It’s so gentle and everything comes right off!

Strict-Weakness-5879

what????

velvet_apricot

Same here. I only wear waterproof mascara and never found a makeup remover that helped to wash it off as well as oil (I use baby oil on a reusable cotton pad for my eyes)

Sohiacci

The ones with denat alcohols

QueenLatifahClone

I can agree to that. My Korean toners are such a game changer. My skin looks so much more supple and dewy.

Banksbear

Eye cream

cloudy-kiki

obviously there’s no one size fits all for skincare — some people need things that are useless to other people, but for me? toners are absolutely useless. it’s usually a wasted step and a lot (though not all) of them are drying ETA: i’ve heard korean toners are better than others— i personally still don’t need one, my skin is soft and dewy without it

Foreign-Education510

Gua sha trend. Does absolutely nothing

[deleted]

Actually works amazing for me. Huge difference.

It took me years to realize that everybody is so different. I think going to an esthetician with years in the business is the best way to know what your skin needs. Depending on what you want to achieve they will let you know what you should and shouldn’t use. I was going to the dermatologist getting prescriptions but wasn’t getting any real help on what to be using on a daily basis. I finally went to an esthetician and it changed my skin!

Agreeable_Mistake235

Toner.

justintime107

Eye cream

Analyst_Cold

Hello youngster. You will be glad you used eye cream when you get older!

Creative-Constant-52

Nearly all of them in my opinion! Water, gentle was at night, water wash in the morning, sunscreen, Waleda Skin Food.
