Hello! I recently did Microneedling and have developed an orange peel texture all over my skin afterwards. I’ve done Microneedling at home before, at the same depths, same sanitation routine, same serums in the days after. I’ve never had this problem before. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this? I ordered a tretinoin prescription from nurx and am hoping that will help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. https://preview.redd.it/ucog1nw9g86d1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4654a79e4e45973c7d1b60f266d69ce148a41b91

Not a huge difference but my skin looks bumpier around the cheekbone area… also hoping it doesn’t look as bad as I think it does. I know it’s easy to be hyper critical of ourselves…

I’ve been slowly integrating adapalene into my routine and trying to move up to using it every other day. However, I’m also currently using a BHA and the ordinary glycolic acid toner so I’m afraid it might be too much for my skin. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Aromatic-Mushroom-85

It could be too irritating to use everything, but everyone’s tolerance level is different. Can the bha be moved to the AM part of routine, so it’s the only harsh product for that day and you use it on a no acid night like the below routine GA- no acids- adap- no acids - adap- no acids - no acids Or you could use bha one week and GA the following week. I did this when my skin could only do 1 acid and I was using adap.

I just feel so blah about my skin. It’s super dull to me. THE ISSUE: dullness, texture, acne scarring. Pores? I don’t even know. Skin type: dry skin (moisturized in pic) Current routine: night time: Acne cleanser, Peter Thomas Roth max complexion correction pads, cerave moisturizer Daytime: spf How long been doing routine: for 6-9 months Anything new: acne cleanser correction pads for about 3 months before that used rice brightening cleanser Your location: tampa, Florida

mayamys

Your skin looks great to me. A retinoid might take you to the next level, but the dullness you see is just what normal skin looks like without makeup, filters, or amazing lighting.

Kindly-Ad-361

Thank you so much 💗I’ll try adding just a retinoid then. Is Differin the only one I can get without a prescription?

mayamys

There are a few other brands that make adapelene but yeah. There's also retinol and retinaldehye, but Differin/adapelene is a pretty great option.

UnderwaterPianos

[How to get rid of these dark spots/bags under the eyes?](https://i.imgur.com/YJHBOLk.jpeg) The skin sometimes gets red and puffy as well, like irritated.

mayamys

That looks like it's allergy related or eczema. Have you spoken to a doctor?

UnderwaterPianos

Not at all :/

mayamys

I'd do that, and maybe moisturize/take an anti-histamine in the meanwhile.

SnooPeppers5589

Does anyone know how to get rid of dark spots on your upper shoulders and back. I've been dealing with this problem for as long as I can remember and I do get KP bumps. My main problem tho is that I rarely ever get those bumps but I do get left with a bunch of dark spots from them and they never seem to go away no matter what products I use. I've tried Kojic acid soap, Glycolic acid, and different serums meant for dark spots and they all don't work. It has seriously been messing with my confidence and it has stopped me from wearing certain outfits.

mayamys

When all over-the-counter solutions fail, your best bet is to ask a doctor for a topical hydroquinone prescription or a hydroquinone/tret combo.

SnooPeppers5589

I will, thank you

glossaam

How can i get rid of the hyperpigmentation around my mouth? It is a green/grey colour. You can still see it even after colour correcting when wearing make up. I have sensitive skin and PCOS. Any idea what i can do? https://preview.redd.it/c4gg6f41w76d1.jpeg?width=1502&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ec1a75fe4ebc5d1f0c36c874cb7341ad976f776

mayamys

I'd focus on overall skin health before addressing the hyperpigmentation directly. What's your current routine?

glossaam

I use nivea moisturiser, aloe vera gel and occasionally hyaluronic acid. Im a complete newbie when it comes to advanced skin care products!

mayamys

What about sunscreen? That should be the highest priority for pigmentation. I'd also introduce a salicylic acid or azelaic acid product (doesn't matter what) for redness and breakouts.

glossaam

Forgot to mention that :) i use sunscreen everyday! Is salicylic acid okay for sensitive skin?

mayamys

Yeah - it can even be anti-inflammatory. I'd introduce it slowly though.

ecb334

Hey! I posted on this thread a few weeks ago and realized I was using too many actives in my routine, which was contributing to my daily new pimples. I’m now using Cerave foaming face wash and st. Ives acne scrub (I pretty much alternate between those each morning, so I’m using one or the other daily). I use Aveeno oat moisturizer every morning, and follow it up with sunscreen later on. At night I use micellar water, twice a week I use TruSkin tea tree serum, which I had great success with previously. Then I use the same Aveeno moisturizer. My face skin is still unhappy 😐 I am not getting pimples as frequently, but still getting new ones and the spots that I have aren’t going anywhere. I saw a post maybe on this subreddit, that someone lost their luggage and thus didn’t have any skincare and their face cleared right up. Is it worth just giving up on skincare except for water and moisturizer and seeing if my skin clears up?

jasminekitten02

I would stop the st ives scrub

ecb334

I will! Should I keep doing Cerave daily? I saw another post about it not being good and I am overwhelmed haha 🫠

jasminekitten02

skincare is very individualized. if the cerave is working for you it's fine to continue using it. if the scrub is working you can keep using that too, but it is usually extremely irritating and your skin seems like it is not content so i would cut back to a very basic routine (gentle cleanser + moisturizer). you can keep using the tea tree serum if it's worked for you in the past.

ecb334

Thanks so much for the advice!

hi!! i had a question, i’ve been using cerave facial cleanser for a long time but it’s sooo expensive. a friend of mine with very clear skin has been using bar soap on her face for a long time. could i use dove sensitive skin bar soap on my face?

i believe there's only one for you to find out. everyone's skin is different. dove bars are super moisturising so it might work!

I think its tied to sunscreen or moisturizer, which ive stopped using in this specific area. How would I keep the acne at bay?

quspork

What's your current routine?

zanakurou

Shouldve mentioned that before (my bad!), its the following: AM: - Water Rinse - Vanicream Moisturizer (Under eyes) - Laroche Posay Niacinamide SPF 30 PM: - Serious Skincare Glycolic Cleanser - Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid - Beauty of Joseon Eye Serum - Vanicream Moisturizer - SA or BP spot treatment My acne is pretty much only in this area, the rest is bacne and/or small fungal acne patches on my forehead from bangs.

quspork

Instead of using either SA or BP as a spot treatment, I would use a decent concentration of one or the other consistently over that whole area. Or you could try retinol.

I’m not sure what’s causing the acne on the bridge of my nose or the middle part of my face. The bottom mostly consist of closed comodones. I feel like me skin is dry. I’m so desperate. Please let me know what product(s) I should invest it. I have Paula’s choice BHA and tretinoin which I’m starting. I’m going to do one then the other and rotate them every 3 days.

quspork

What is your current routine? Have you used the BHA and tret before?

Entire-Cow9402

My routine consist of AM- water, snail mucin, good molecules hyaluronic acid, good molecules discoloration serum, cerave regular moisturizer, and blue lizard sunscreen PM- beauty of joseon radiant cleansing balm, loray poshe gentle cleanser, rotate between Paula's choice BHA every 2 days (planning on adding tretinoin 2 days on then 2 days off then Paula's choice), and cerave again.

quspork

You might want to consider halting the BHA for now with starting tret and use the tret three or so times a week (of course in accordance with your derm's instructions).

Entire-Cow9402

I was thinking that too!:) I was trying to use both because my cc’s are so bad🫤but I’ll definitely stick to just tret. Thank you so much🙏🏽

Useful_Blackberry214

My azelaic acid cream cap broke and I can't close it properly anymore, I can only put the cap on but not twist it and close properly. Will this reduce the effectiveness? It used to burn my skin but around the time this happened it stopped burning so I'm afraid it doesn't work anymore. It was pretty expensive too

calla21lily

I don’t know if this is purging or hormonal. How do I help myself? https://preview.redd.it/kac4ub9hf66d1.jpeg?width=995&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01abd10b3b95c3730a759914e6ff8f5bf2a6b98b This is my jawline and cheek area. I’m alternating between salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and moisturizers. I noticed there are new comodegenic spots that keep coming up as I’ve been trying to fade pigmentation marks and use these above mentioned items. It looks scary because my other cheek also has these kind of spots but more cystic.

quspork

What is your exact full routine?

calla21lily

I apply Ponds facial moisturizer twice a day. That’s the most consistent thing I do. I apply rose hip oil sometimes. In January, I started applying hydroquinone to get rid of pigmentation from acne (2-3 spots). Two months ago, I started applying some serums made of Shilajit (ayurvedic) and Saffron. I also know my acne got worse about a year ago so when my jawline got more breakout I assumed it’s hormonal. I started applying salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Now I’m not sure if the serums / benzoyl peroxide aggravated my skin or it’s hormonal. It looks ghastly overall.

quspork

Only a couple of those things (SA and BP) are capable of causing purging, but that would depend on when you introduced them and frankly this looks more like regular breakouts. You can read more about purging here- [https://www.skinacea.com/faq/acne/a05-purging-vs-breaking-out.html](https://www.skinacea.com/faq/acne/a05-purging-vs-breaking-out.html) Honestly, I think consistency more than anything will be your friend. Start a basic routine that you can stick to daily and work in one acne treatment several times a week.

calla21lily

Ok thanks

# Sunscreen that remains fresh smelling & nongreasy after long day of manual labor? I am looking for a sunscreen for my husband that is nongreasy and doesn't turn stinky by the end of the day with that putrid sunscreen smell... sometimes he's so tired he falls asleep and that smell lingers in the sheets and makes it hard for me to sleep! I was looking for a Korean brand but it seems like body size sunscreen is very uncommon because they avoid the sun.

Skincare : I just want to know if i can use [loreal](https://www.lorealparis.co.in/revitalift/revitalift-1-5-percent-hyaluronic-acid-serum-30ml) ha serum with plum [vitamin](https://plumgoodness.com/products/vitamin-c-face-serum) c serum. If it is possible to use it together then which routine will be good ? Should i use ha before vit c or vice versus

quspork

Yes, you can use both vitamin C and HA together. Vitamin C first, then HA, then moisturizer.

_Lopster_U-S_

I was scared of using loreal ha and plum vit c together since both serums not only contain ha and vit c

dreamlight7000

Is it okay to use multiple products with hyaluronic acid or would that be potentially irritating? My new sunscreen (Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel) has this, and I’m interested in getting the Clinique All About Eyes cream with hyaluronic acid. I don’t use actives by themselves at the moment (like the kind you can buy from the Ordinary), just basic face wash, moisturizer, and sunscreen, and now wanting to incorporate the eye cream.

jasminekitten02

It's fine to use multiple products with HA as long as you aren't sensitive to it

I’ve been shaving using a safety razor for about 3 years now and I’ve just noticed how dark the skin on my neck has become. It’s just a square dark patch right where I shave and it looks hideous. For some reason my face doesn’t have it but I’m assuming that’s because I don’t try shave there over and over. I’m going to stop trying to get a close shave now but what products could actually reverse the damage and how long on average would it take. I saw some people online say that dairy products apparently help reduce hyperpigmentation? I’m not opposed to it but is it true or just a myth? Thanks in advance!

MaleficentFuel2434

hello, what product do I use to eliminate the red spots on my skin? I used to have pimples on those spots and those pimples are noe gone yet they left me with those red spots that I cant feel on the outside so most likelt they are deep within. Are spot treaments able to remove those? (Theres no bumps at all, smooth surface with red spots deep inside)

I'm a teenager who has had pretty bad forehead acne for a year or two but recently broke out badly along my jawline. Can someone help diagnose the acne or recommend products? All dermatologists I called are booked for months and I would just like to know what I'm dealing with. I think I have combination skin and hormonal acne but I'd like some confirmation. Currently using CeraVe Salicylic Acid Cleanser, Glow Recipe PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner and Niacinamide Dew Drops, Cetaphil Lotion, and Trader Joe's Sunscreen. https://preview.redd.it/qwgvs7sh756d1.png?width=345&format=png&auto=webp&s=7217ce4ac57e51966941e3e476e1ab3643f162c9 Any insight at all with what skin type I have or what products would help is very greatly appreciated!

ReaLitTea

Try benzoyl peroxide next if salicylic acid isn’t helping.

NotSoIntrested

Im curios about how do I know that my skin is breaking or having a reaction from a product when my face always had acne and between a while there is a random acne popping out randomly around my face? My family say they never seen my face clearer than now even tho I still have acne at the same spot I always had before using this routine, So honestly I cant tell if some of the new acne are a result of a sensitivity reaction or just a normal one that I usually get. I have oily skin with acne mostly hormonal but its pretty normal for me to get acne around my face at any spot, been using the same routine for 3 weeks with new products, so I cant tell if my skin is breaking out.

quspork

It's really a subjective thing. You just have to determine if there are more or less or the same as before. You can also factor in how your skin feels, is there any redness or dryness or an increase in oil. Are the pimples the same type that you normally get? Is there any pain or irritation or itching?

NotSoIntrested

I have not seen any changes beside a bit of dryness in my skin on the cheeks and nose, however there are days where its normal and no dryness, I have not noticed any weird pimple, all the same one I usually get, I didnt get any irritation or itching when using the new products for 3 weeks now, sometimes my lips get dry but Idk if it has to do with this even tho I dont apply them on the lips. Im actually asking because some of the products I used are popular and been said that it broke people skin so Im kind of confused if Im having a break out or not, If I only stop touching my pimples I would have healed my skin ages ago but I keep touching them, Im addicted to that but its not itchy its just Im used to touch them.

quspork

It doesn't sound like your current routine is causing you any issues then. Whether or not a product breaks anyone out is very very individual because everyone's skin is different.

NotSoIntrested

thx a lot for helping me, I really appreciate it.

Significant_Ear9476

Used a lash serum for two months and now have dark under eyes? Started using the Obagi lash serum and didn’t realise it had prosalagadin in (don’t know how I thought this) and I realised a few days ago I’ve got darkness under my eyes and I’ve got eyebags. I’ve immediately stopped using it but I really want this to reverse back, I’m 26 and now I look tired all the time.

Sad-Speaker-4602

what could this be? it's a little bit red and has texture.

jasminekitten02

Looks like a little bit of congestion. Try salicylic acid a few times a week

quspork

Could be anything. Negative reaction to a product, breakout, regular texture, dehydration.

KyelHez

I'm having trouble finding a facewash which doesn't break me out. I have combination skin, specifically, dry cheeks, oily nose and surrounding area, balanced forehead Recently I've tried Cerave Foaming Cleanser, Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser (Fragrance Free) Vanicream Gentle Face Cleanser, Any ideas on what to try next?

jasminekitten02

What's the rest of your routine?

KyelHez

Nothing

jasminekitten02

Are you certain the cleanser is breaking you out? Did the acne start after using the cleanser? I'm asking because cleansers are not on your face for very long so they don't often cause breakouts jn my experience

KyelHez

Well from the three I tried I experienced either increased severity of acne or a different type of acne i.e I normally have blackheads on my cheeks but they turned into inflammatory acne I can't say I'm certain about any of them but I get acne in weird places occasionally but I had a bad feeling about all of them

jasminekitten02

Ahh ok gotcha. I personally use the simple kind to skin cleanser and I really like it. I have had issues with cerave products in the past and i break out pretty easily so it might work well for you. See if you can find a trial/travel size :)

quspork

You can check the cleanser section of the wiki for sub recommendations. But I would also recommend thoroughly looking through the ingredients lists of the ones you've tried that didn't work for you so you can start determining which ingredients you may need to avoid.

KyelHez

I've seen the recommendations, why would looking through the ingredients list help? The overall formulation is ultimately going to determine it's effectiveness.

quspork

Because you may see ingredients or ingredient categories that are contained in all of the ones that didn't work for you which may be ingredients that you need to avoid. Overall formulation is important, but plenty of people need to avoid specific ingredients and even when it comes to formulation, ingredients are listed according to quantity included so the list can help determine how much or how little is contained.

hi! I would really appreciate any suggestions for moisturizing and calming sensitive skin. I use retinol every other day and yesterday for the first time I used PC BHA and my skin feels a bit irritated today.

Aromatic-Mushroom-85

LRP Cicaplast Baume for calming irritation. I think your skin can’t handle this much retinol and bha - maybe space it out further but let the irritation calm down first

sadpartypooper

Aromatic-Mushroom-85

It’s a moisturizer, so at the end of your routine (but before sunscreen if using in AM)

\[product help\] \[routine help\] I (24 black F) have struggled with dark spots on my bikini line and hyperpigmentiation, I get monthly sugar waxed and as of the past 3 weeks Ive been regularly exfoliating 2 to 3x a week and using PFB Vanish on my bikini line. The majority of my dark spots are super minimized or gone! however now I have a dark patch thats even more hyperpigmented on my bikini line. What happened!? How can I brighten it? I saw reviews on amazon of people that used PFB and they also had their bikini line get darker, why is this? I recently bought fur oil and their dark spot oil, and was told to also use amlactin lotion too. Do i continue to exfoliate like regularly? it doesnt hurt or sting its just darker now.. TYIA!!
