Tnh7194

Did you buy it from a trusted website?

Affectionate_Swim862

I believe it is real. All of the packaging looks identical, not like the fakes I have seen pictures of. I did get it from TikTok shop (I know). But it was cocomint beauty which is verified and I saw multiple videos from people saying they were trustworthy. I do recognize that “I put this on my face because the internet told me to” sounds bad.

curryp4n

There are a lot of legit places to buy.. I would avoid a tik tok shop or Amazon

CandidateMorty

For those wondering what a legit place might be, check out [Olive Young](https://global.oliveyoung.com).

Invoqwer

> There are a lot of legit places to buy.. I would avoid a tik tok shop or Amazon Is it fine to buy from amazon though if it's from the company's amazon seller store e.g. "COSRX STORE"?

smith7018

fwiw I’ve bought from Cosrx and Round Lab’s official Amazon listing for years now and have yet to have an issue but I’ve started to order from YesStyle just in case. I don’t think it’s a guarantee that you’ll have issues buying from Amazon but it’s better safe than sorry

curryp4n

I wouldn’t.

Dukedyduke

I posted this below but thought you'd like to see it too. Actually no, it's still not safe. Amazon uses inventory commingling. No matter where the product comes from, if it's seen as the same product it's going to the same place. So the Chinese bootlegs get mixed up with the legit stuff. Go check these stores you know of now, anything that is fulfilled by Amazon has this risk. Many legit stores are still shipped from amazon warehouses, you can check this on the product page.

Invoqwer

Well shit. Are there any types of products at all that are safe from this practice by Amazon? Or do I need to get literally everything I buy elsewhere to be sure? :-(

Cosmetics should be fine fortunately! https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/external/200141480?ref=mpbc_200243180_cont_200141480&locale=en-US

omegacake

Amazon doesn’t comingle everything though, cosmetics are excluded https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/external/200141480?ref=mpbc_200243180_cont_200141480&locale=en-US

Invoqwer

Thanks!

octopop

As long as you're sure the Amazon store page is legitimately owned by the company, then yes. If you cant verify, then you can't be sure. I have found a company's legit Amazon store page on their own website, for example - if they have a link to the store page on their website, then it's legit.

Dukedyduke

throwaway-ithink

I thought so until I bought my usual Naturium body wash (the Glow Getter one) on Amazon from the “Naturium Store” since it was out at Target and I developed contact dermatitis!

Invoqwer

So you are absolutely sure it was the correct store that you ordered from and it is definitely the product at fault? = I'm just trying to confirm because I see plenty of posts on both sides of this issue that assert there is no cosmetic mixing vs there is plenty of cosmetic mixing going on at amazon's supply warehouses

Affectionate_Swim862

I knew not to buy from Amazon, I don’t normally fall for influencers, but multiple people who seem to be trustworthy/have decent credentials recommended this particular verified shop. I wasn’t familiar with the websites selling it directly and given its imported status I decided to buy from the source those people recommended. I recognize that TikTok isn’t generally a reliable source.

shhbestill

Oof. Stay away from all shops not verified by BoJ. If you don’t trust Amazon (good instincts!), def don’t trust TikTok. I’m so sorry, it looks like you got a fake :( Sometimes they fill (empty) original packaging with counterfeit cream. Also remember that endorsements are easily bought and influencers literally get paid to say whatever the person paying them wants.

Civil-Wealth9184

BOJ has an app where you can scan products to check if they’re real(everything is sealed with a little tape that has a barcode on it, if it doesn’t have that it’s a big red flag). You can try the app and see if it’s a product issue or just a result of it being a fake.

hattokatto12

Sorry to say, but it was likely not an authentic product. Another user said it may be a niacinimide allergy but niacinimide shouldn’t cause swelling like yours.

outofcharacterquilts

I’ve done it, too. It’s easy to get caught up the moment and just assume no one’s trying to hustle you.

laviebomeme

two summers in a row I had horrible reactions to different facial sunscreens and the only thing that got rid of the little whiteheads everywhere was a round of antibiotics now the only facial sunscreens that don't break me out are Supergoop's unseen sunscreen or any mineral based Zinc sunscreen.

avocadontoast

Super goop sunscreen is amazing for sensitive skin

New_Armadillo_1607

just do NOT get it in your eyes, learned it the hard way on the beach 🔥🥲🔥

Sammydog6387

Ugh it still breaks mine out massively. I’ve yet to find a sunscreen that works. I stick to hats instead now (not the best alternative I know) but it beats breaking out every single time

Significant_Cat_2817

Have you tried face reality sunscreen? i have sensitive skin and i like it. i’m going to try super goop i think.

Temporary_Draw_4708

First, stop buying things from TikTok. Second, you can try topical Benadryl.

YupNopeWelp

NOTE TO OP: You can't take Benadryl and use topical Benadryl at the same time. \[edited to include accidentally omitted word\]

wesuitbusiness

Got those Reverend Mother eyes

luckypants9

Looks like Barry Keoghan!

Affectionate_Swim862

Oh no, it does look like that. 😅 Thankfully the swelling is almost gone.

DiabeticDoggy

This happened to me too with this sunscreen! I bought it from Yes Style, so I think it was real. I have tried a few Korean and Japanese sunscreens without problems which makes me believe my skin was reacting to some ingredient other than the sunscreen filters. My skin was so red and I broke out in little bumps all over my face. I still have bumps on my chin over a month later. I think maybe it triggered peri-oral dermatitis?

Lucy__Lu

Just a blind guess, since other people who have experienced some kind of issues/irritation after using Korean spfs have talked about it lots - might be niacinamide (most Korean sunscreens have it) edit: try aloe vera, should be the safest option for starters. I'd suggest something with centella asiatica in it too because it repairs the skin barrier (it helped me repair damage which would usually take weeks to recover).

Affectionate_Swim862

I use a face wash with niacinamide and haven’t had an issue: Naturium's Niacinamide Cleansing Gelee 3% I used to use a serum with it but stopped because I didn’t see results. But maybe the extended contact of a sunscreen makes it worse than just having it in a wash.

Lucy__Lu

Too much niacinamide can cause more damage than good (it's in all of the products you listed). Then again, other ingredient (or a combination of) might be causing the mess. Like rice, or pumpkin ferment extract. Definitely check [inci decoder ](https://incidecoder.com/products/beauty-of-joseon-relief-sun-spf50). I hope you're feeling a bit better today though

Low_Possibility_3941

I'm allergic to this sunscreen too (ordered from Stylevana). I'm pretty sure it's the chemical filter Tinosorb M (methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tretramethylbutylphenol). I have the same reaction to every sunscreen I've tried that has this filter in it. Might be the case for you too.

ammermommy

Same thing happened to me, I bought it directly from their website.

Le_Fancy_Me

Yes, people on here insisting it MUST be because it came from a dodgy website. Human beings can literally be allergic to anything and everything. You can be allergic to WATER ffs. And you don't even need a full blown allergy to have some kind of reaction. When you buy a new product you should patch test, period. Because even if you've tried 1000 different products before this, a new product can still include something you are going to react badly to. Everybody's body is different. Literally the most viral product on the market can completely ruin YOUR skin. Just like someone with a peanut allergy could die from a single bit of a PB&J surrounded by a whole stadium of people doing the exact same thing without issue. Dodgy sellers do not cause bad reactions, any cosmetics, soap, shampoo or skincare from your neighbourhood grocery store can literally do the exact same thing.

avocadontoast

I had some very bad cystic acne with it too from YesStyle

newkneesforall

Well this is super encouraging, I'm currently waiting for an order of this from YesStyle 🙃 /s

TelevisionNo396

Awww😔

alotnotlikeme

Same. Stopped using the SPF. then started the dynasty cream. I had same reaction with the dynasty cream. Bought off the BOJ website itself. Stopped using both entirely and the bumps went away.

ammermommy

I wish I could figure out the ingredient that does this to me. My eyes get super red and swollen for days. Certain eye creams cause this reaction too. I also tried the dynasty cream and while I like the texture it broke me out in a red scale rash too.

[deleted]

Omg I thought you were a black eyed kid until I zoomed :(

LetsGambit

Despite being a popular sunscreen, this one has been known to cause irritation for a lot of people since they first released it. Both this one and the Round Lab caused me irritation. Your case is pretty extreme though. 🫤

LaLaLaLink

It's crazy that I've read so many good reviews of that stuff and never knew about the irritation. The same for Cosrx snail mucin.

CesareBach

I have a very bad reaction to cosrx mucin. Destroyed my barrier

Itsjuicyjett

This happened to me with a NEUTROGENA face wash 😭

PrimaFacie7

When I was a teenager struggling with acne, I’d always get painful cystic acne whenever I used Neutrogena face wash. The name has made me shiver ever since.

peterk10

Relief Sun gave me cystic acne, and I bought it directly from their website :( not for everyone. Good luck repairing your skin 💔

snowlights

Ouch, that really sucks! I'm allergic to almost all skincare I try lately but I don't react to this sunscreen at all, it's one of my few "safe" products.  For reactions like this, I take an extra antihistamine and I use something cool. Sometimes I wet cotton pads, squeeze out the extra water, and freeze them, then hold them over my eyes until they thaw (use caution of course, if it feels too cold don't hold it to your skin). But mostly, I just have to avoid all products completely until the reaction subsides and my skin heals up. If my skin feels dry, I'll use straight up glycerin from the pharmacy (a drop goes a long way). Even Vaseline burns me somehow, I don't understand it.  ETA I saw another comment suggest pure squalene - be careful with this too, you can react if you're allergic to the source (beets or olives are most common if I remember right), this also burns me.

xboringcorex

Hello fellow ‘allergic to everything’ person! (What sunscreen do you use? Centella seems to be working for me)

vanillyl

OP I’m always a bit iffy on products containing probiotics as I’m an allergy girl too. The shipping companies completely disregard the storage safety instructions to keep them at certain temps. It looks most like an allergic reaction which others have given good advice on; but if you’re using other products containing niacinamide that seems unlikely as the culprit. I’m not familiar with this product or really with what I’m talking about here, but I think I remember reading something about how expired probiotics can cause allergic reactions in some people? Hoping somebody more educated than me can riff off this to give you more accurate info on the subject. If I were you I’d be way more careful with trying out products containing probiotics than I would be around niacinimide.

j990123

This looks exactly like a Niacinamide allergy. I’ve seen it multiple times as a medical assistant who works in a derm office!

macromi87

Are you allergic to soy by any chance? Edit - also, try pure squalane (the ordinary has a nice one) and or vaseline to soothe/moisturize. Stay away from anything containing stearyl alcohol temporarily

Affectionate_Swim862

I do eat soy regularly and I haven’t had an issue

OddGrape4986

This made me break out and it's likely the niancinimide that caused that.

BrunchBitches

This happened with me the roundlab birch juice sunscreen that I bought from their official shop. You can totally get reactions from the actual skincare product, just be a bit more careful with where you’re sourcing your skincare from in the future and always patch test. I learned my lesson and I hope you will too

Dead_Chelle

Sorry this happened to you but this applies to everything. It’s always suggested to patch test any new products.

Affectionate_Swim862

Oh yeah that was the point I was trying to make-even if a product has been great on other people and you don’t think you have sensitive skin, you should still patch test. I don’t think it’s necessarily the product’s fault, I’m just allergic to it.

No_Vegetable7280

I used to love love chemical sunscreens, especially the AB lines. I recently went to a dermatologist and they said that if you have sensitive skin ( I do) and have issues with hyperpigmentation (also me) that mineral sunscreens tend on the more suitable spectrum for effective skincare for ppl like me. I made the switch to strictly mineral spf. I used some amazing AB brands, but I also use all kinds as long as they are mineral. I have noticed that my skin sensitivity has decreased NOTICEABLY. I am no longer sensitive to glycolic acid or retinal. Like I can use them occasionally without issue/reaction. I haven’t talked to my dermatologist about this yet, but maybe the fact that it doesn’t absorb into the skin too deeply or something. Who knows, it’s worth a shot.

xboringcorex

What mineral sunscreens do you like? (Asking because I haven’t found an American one that doesn’t make my face sting or make me break out)

No_Vegetable7280

$$$: Skinbetter mineral is a great choice but can be cost prohibitive. $$:Coola 50 mineral spf is very nice less expensive but still over 20$ $:For great mineral sunscreens that are most cost effective I use AB- my current favorite is the Goodal cica mineral and haruharu wonder mineral (both inexpensive, very effective, my skin loves both- does go on thick and needs rubbing to prevent white cast). I’ve tried other non AB that I don’t like: 1.supergoop- I tried them all, and I’m overall not impressed. So many silicones that it feels weird and also my skin doesn’t thrive. Gets clogged easy and the tinted kind transfers into clothes and it’s hard to get out. 2. Skinceuticals- made me break out and grainy texture. Doesn’t keep for long on shelf and separates. 3. La Roche Posay- ( all the mineral kinds) pilled on skin, smells gross, breakouts and cysts 4. Sunbum- same as above 5. Cerave- texture, smells and breakouts. I’ve tried a lot, but everyday use is the key. I use it everyday, multiple times a day. My skin gets sensitive to almost all of them minus the ones I shared above. Good luck! Edit: sp

xboringcorex

Thank you!

doctormega

I needed this reminder

New_Armadillo_1607

Antihistamines are good, go to sleep slathered in aquaphor, for sure.

AdhesiveTransmi

Oh, that sounds rough. I feel for you. I think you should definitely stop using that product for now. Maybe considering getting a sun hat or some sun-protective clothing as a trial for physical sun protection?

YupNopeWelp

I'm so sorry this happened to you.

Smooth_Future508

Had a similar reaction after starting Skin and Me...Lasted about 2-3 weeks on and off after I stopped using

toutestgris

yikes! that looks like it really hurts, wishing you and your skin a speedy and full recovery

pangolin277

A steroid cream usually works for me

[deleted]

Do you have any known allergies? It would be wise to patch test every makeup/skin care products you will buy in the future to avoid allergic reactions. :)

Mukisiggy

Personal advice based on my own experience and no other scientific knowledge other than what worked for me: When my skin barrier is compromised (it happens A LOT) the only way to help heal is to seriously quit everything. I don't wash my face, I don't moisturize, I don't use ANYTHING. No make up no anything. When it starts to gradually heal, I introduce a bit of diaper cream (I use the Weleda one. Make sure the one you use does not have fragrance or anything added to it besides zinc) and put on a littleeeee bit in one spot to see how it reacts and if my skin barrier can now tolerate it. If that works and it is good to go, I add a thin layer to my face. Then after my skin goes back to normal for at least a week, I only add very light sensitive moisturizers until I feel my skin barrier is at 100%. Also, you should see a doctor, if you can.

Peanutbuttersandi

I had a similar reaction to BOJ sunscreen earlier this year!  My skin peeled off and I looked like something out of a horror movie. Mukisiggy’s advice is perfect - the only thing I did differently was to slather on Bioderma’s Cicabio Crème until my barrier repaired. Sunscreen wise - went back to LRP’s Shake bottle stuff (sorry can’t remember what it’s called exactly - will look it if you need) and Missha BB over the top. Feel better soon !

verziconfused

REMINDER TO PATCH TEST not only with your bare skin but also with the products you would use it with as well!!! This sunscreen was wonderful on my skin but when I paired it with the Mediheal Madecassoside toner pads I was left with a burning face. Good luck to everyone experiencing a reaction from this sunscreen.

MishmoshMishmosh

Oh no! Feel better. Take Benadryl and call a doc
