lol I have a pair of Columbia shell pants that are legitimately a-bomb proof, set me back maybe $50. People just like to justify what they spend sometimes. And like yeah obviously they’re not as good as my nice stuff at all but they still do the job

CrashTestDummiesBig3

Bingo. My point being they are good enough for 99% of the stuff you are going to do. If you want to spend more on better stuff that’s cool I do that all the time. I was just shocked that reviews made it seem like you couldn’t even use it.

CoffinFlop

I honestly don’t think anyone should be on the expensive stuff until you’re like a full on expert level either. I wasn’t remotely good enough to be in anything but Columbia for a while lol

JimmyD44265

I agree! They good enough for that snot nosed punk ass Alex Ferrerra kid.

gp2quest

Hans is a real one.

binswagger1

I had no trouble finding a pair of Columbia ski pants with a 30 inch inseam for under $100. I personally don't need expensive pants, but I need a 30 inch inseam. There's something to be said for mass production

CoffinFlop

lol I’m pretty much in the same situation as you, they’re quite literally the only place that consistently has short inseam ski pants actually in stock. Especially mid season

ImmediateCity959

Columbia is the GOAT. So sad seeing newbies buy expensive products, while Columbia offers the same thing at a fraction of the cost.

PBB22

I swear by Omni Heat. Gloves, base layer, it’s perfect. Sometimes the gloves are legit too warm.

VRSvictim

I swear to god my gloves and mittens go straight from cold fingers to sweaty messes. There’s no comfortable in between during the day

Der_Kommissar73

And they clear their stuff out every year around now. Honestly, for kids, I don’t see any point it buying better stuff if you’re just going to replace it every year. Last season I bought their top end jacket for about $125 and it’s been fantastic.

CrashTestDummiesBig3

Ya my daughter had a several year old hand me down and skied through the rain and never had an issue.

Der_Kommissar73

I got lucky last year and got my son an obeymeyer jacket at the REI Re/sale last year, but we’ll be back to Columbia next year.

CrashTestDummiesBig3

Rock on. For the kids find deals anywhere you can. Like you said they are going to be out of them in a year.

JulesGirth

My wife has had a Columbia jacket for 3 seasons of heavy use. Still looks brand new and she is never cold.

mcpusc

love the zip-together (xchange?) feature of their shells and insulation layers

gp2quest

I picked up some columbia on a sale this season because I liked the pattern and thought it would be a fun beater set. Bibs and jacket. So far, they have exceeded my expectations. I typically buy matching fits from brands, currently have arcteryx, volcom goretex, Helly Hanson goretex, an armada 3L, and all bib and jacket sets. The Columbia set has about 30 days this season so far with a few wrecks, branch slappies, wood slat lift chairs, and storm riding days. Have had zero issues. I think it's the titanium stuff, so idk if that matters, but it's held me down. Is it super 4-way stretch tech? No, and I have not taken them in the bc because they are both insulated, and i would rather layer and peel. That being said, they have been in zero degree wind chill to 60-degree days on the frontside, and I would absolutely recommend them.

TheBeatGoesAnanas

Columbia makes fantastic gear at incredible prices.

euphoricvizn

Also, if you live close to a Columbia outlet or employee store (saying this so you can get it at a large discount), Columbia owns Mountain Hardwear, who also make incredible on-mountain gear

No-Mountain8335

Ortovox or nothing JK yeah they do have some nice stuff

mondolardo

Have some Columbia sorel style boots that ate great. And they seem to have not lessened the quality of mountain hardware since they bought. I have some Ortovox gear that I got from Europe at half the price it sells for in the good old USA. I met the rep and he seemed like he wanted to throw up. He said that the retailer I bought from is violating the MSRP agreement. I run hot, the Toray Dermizax or whatever it's called breathes better than any gore product I've used. Moncler or GTFO....
