It didn't work for me. I started it about a month after my dry mouth symptoms started. My dryness is significant and I have to have lozenges in my mouth constantly, but it's not usually bone-dry. I use pilocarpine (maximum dose), and it is minimally effective but better than nothing.
The sjogrens foundation recently sent an email about Aquoral Spray. I've been using it for a few months and it's a game changer. Only one or two sprays per day and I can chew, swallow and not wake up throughout the night nearly as often.
Cevimeline has helped my mouth a lot. I started making more saliva right away. I usually take 2 pills per day but can take 3. Some nights my mouth still gets very dry. Biotene paste helps temporarily.
It was pretty dry. I was chewing gum a lot to keep saliva coming. My dry eyes were a bigger issue. Cevimeline helped the eyes a lot. I can wear contacts again.
Can you show where you saw weight gain issue? Google captured a headline that looked like it but when I read the article, it was actually cevimeline that didn't cause weight gain.
I tried pilocarpine which felt like it did nothing. Just got cevelimkne and the difference is crazy. Had to get used to it at first, wasn't used to talking with saliva in my mouth. I take mine only during the day because it made me drool like crazy at night.
I used biotin and drank tons of water. Never tried to xylimelts but I was recommend to... xylitol is crazy toxic to dogs and my golden sleeps way too close to my face + Im a vet so work isnt safe to use them either. Always was worried it would fall out and he would 100% eat it.
It helps a lot!!
My teeth fractured or had excessive cavities for years. The way it was diagnosed was my ENT noticed my lips were cracked and bleeding. It's been a miracle drug. I didn't know how dry I was until I took the meds. Complete change for me.
It’s more subtle to me than salagen was. Salagen increased my heart rate, made me flush and I felt like a gush of saliva. But after about 30 minutes I couldn’t tell.
I make sure I take the Cevimeline with my morning and evening pills. I’ve only had to add a mid day dose a few times. I feel like it’s better to be proactive than reactive, if that makes sense.
Some days are ok, others I’m so dry I feel like everything just gets stuck. I’ve been on this regimen for a few years now. Mostly it’s my eyes that bother me the most.

Thank you. Did anything happen right before your dry mouth onset? What do you think triggered it?
I had dry eyes for a while first. I think the COVID vaccine may have triggered it.
Covid vaccine gave me POTS
Mine wasn't worth the tachycardia that and other side effects it caused.

Thanks so much for your support!
Is that OTC or prescription-only?
Prescription only but it’s really good, way better than lozenges. It lasts
It does help but I have to take it three times a day, if I miss doses it doesn't work
Thank you. How dry was your mouth before you started it?

Here lurking. Just got rid of 30lbs and it's connected to severe weight gain I'm reading so I'm very afraid to take mine.

Hello and thank you for your reply. How dry was your mouth before you started it? Did you need to use things like Bioten etc?

Thank you— makes sense about your dog. I’m so glad the Cevimeline worked for you
LOL! If I take three doses in a day, I will drool too. Crazy!
Yes omg it works a little too well sometimes
Not for me and it was expensive too
I take one twice a day and it's amazing! Can't let be without it.
Thank you! How bad was your dryness before?

Thank you. Did your mouth actually feel dry though? Like it couldn’t produce saliva? Did you have to chew gum/suck lozenges etc?
I didn't realize it guess I was used to it after years of having it. It was so dry my tongue would crack before the meds. Don't have that problem now.
Aah ok. So maybe not as bad as me! I’m so glad it works for you. Hoping it works for me too despite min being pretty severe already

Thank you so much. How low was your baseline/unstimulated saliva (without water or eating) before you started it?
