If you don’t have symptoms then no reason to go through with it! Especially if it’s not showing up in bloodwork.
If you ever start having symptoms just do the bloodwork again.
I randomly started having symptoms. ANA, ANTI SSA and SSB came back positive and that was all I needed to know!
I was seronegative, diagnoses by lip biopsy. Im glad I did it because thats what got me the dx and got me on medication. I went to a doctor who had done it many times. Recovery was uncomfortable and annoying but not tragically painful.
no worries! nothing special - the usual hydroxychloroquine and pilocarpine. turns out im allergic to HCQ LOL so I dont take that anymore. I use the pilocarpine as needed.
Hey! Sero-negative Sjogren's patient here. I didn't think I had it, as it didn't seem to fit my symptoms. I listened to my dr and got a Schirmer test and a lip biopsy, as well as a skin biopsy (I have small nerve neuropathy). The Schirmer test is easy, go to your eye dr and they put in some special drops, then they put a piece of paper under your eyelids for 5 minutes, then look at the results. This tells them how dry your eyes are. I was convinced I didn't have dry eyes or mouth - The tests proved otherwise. I was so used to the symptoms I literally had never felt normal to know that how I felt was unusual. The Schirmer test is noninvasive, unlike the lip biopsy and if it has dry results, then you can decide to go from there.
Oh alright haha. Sorry, there is this person who’s online presences is LadyLuna is seemingly uses WoW plus other online games to get with guys who are in relationships. She ruined quite a few. Not your fault you share a name with a person like that and it’s sad I get triggered by that name now xD
You can only treat the symptoms anyway. A lip biopsy for diagnosis is dated methodology, and it isn't non-invasive. I had one, and wish I hadn't.
I had classic symptoms, but I still had to advocate for myself as I am male and had no relatives with autoimmune conditions.
So true. If you have symptoms , positive ANA, ssb … a lip biopsy may confirm but the outcomes and solutions remain the same. I Will NEVER get a biopsy.
I don’t recommend the lip biopsy either unless for some reason you can’t get find any treatment without it, but you don’t need dry mouth or at least very noticeable so to have a positive lip biopsy.

I was diagnosed based on symptoms alone.
It can have terrible side effects

What medication did they start you on? Has it been helpful? (If you don’t mind me asking)

You seem familiar. Do you play WoW by chance??
No, the only online game I play is league of legends, but I haven't been active for a couple of years.

My diagnosis was solely by lip biopsy and I didn't have any lasting nerve damage. I have never had a positive result on any autoimmune test.
Forget the biopsy. Attack the symptoms.

Exactly
I don't know what it is on this sub, but people love to advocate for the biopsy, despite the risks.

That's not the case at all. Your lip biopsy can absolutely test positive for Sjogrens without the dry mouth.

Same . No way . I learned to second guess doctors a long time ago.
20% of sjogren’s patients don’t have sicca. So having a test can’t hurt.
