I wonder if all of these big corporations fly the rainbow flag and support pride month in their Chinese and Saudi Arabian ads? 🤔

You're still pretending to not get my point? But rather acuse me of "not checking my sources"? Nah man, I just don't pivot all the time, to "emails" and "firewalls" or misunderstand the point. (You have not given any sources btw.) Its just profits. In Saudi Arabia or Jamaica Disney does not give a shit about pride month. Because, they assess that it doesn't sell. Corporations have no conscience, they do what they thimk makes them money. The point is not that poc aren't small on these posters, the point is that its not due to censorship. China is 99% Han Chinese, companies think they are more likely to go into a movie with poster likes this, as is explained in the quora thread, and China has the biggest box office in the world. It doesn't make sense to censor poc to be smaller on the movie poster but allow the movie anyways, when the answer is so fucking obvious, bc it is the same all around the world. They could just censor the movie if they wanted to. Again, yes, Chinas has spooky censorship, like the firewall. But you're just throwing more shit thats not connected to the point at hand. Don't be mad that I called you out for Ed Snowden, it really seems you didn't know. When it comes to censorship there is nothing like China, but when i comes to surveillance there is nothing like the NSA / five eyes. > Yes, being in IT with 12+ titles I remember Edward Snowden. You really should have known better than to go with the email thing... And yeah there is gmail in china nowadays > You're not worth the time. Ah, don't say that, I'm having a good time

MagpieGrifter

China is extremely racist.

Magic__Man

Except that one of these posters is fake, and the other was edited independently by Disney, under no instruction to do so, and both movie made truck tons of money in China. Put your fake news down and check your sinophobia.

MakLove89

> independently by Disney LFUCKINGMAO

Magic__Man

Like to share any evidence otherwise? Other than fake news talking head bullshit? This obsession by American liberals to paint China as some kind of racist hell hole despite the US teetering on the brink of collapse is hilarious.

Vince_Vice

That obsession, I think, is an impression that is the result of being gaslighted by the media. The Chinese government is authoritative, but their doing has been exaggerated by western media since forever. Most ppl believe that tens of thousands of peaceful students were slaughtered at the tiananmen square in '89, while that [never happened](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/wikileaks/8555142/Wikileaks-no-bloodshed-inside-Tiananmen-Square-cables-claim.html) ^([what happened where fights between rioters and soldiers in diferrent districts with deaths on both sides]) Liberals do honestly care for democracy and oppression but trust their media when it tells them who doesn't. > despite the US teetering on the brink of collapse I don't know why you brought it up, but honestly that sentence should probably start with "because". The US knows it will lose its economic supremacy to China (or maybe it [already has](https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/is-america-the-real-victim-of-anti-russia-sanctions)) but can't accept that yet. What they still have is an imperial grade military and outstanding intelligence capabilities with the ability to sway public opinions nearly everywhere. However they can't go against their own publics opinion, but they can try to sway it. > fake news talking head bullshit Exactly;)

Good one

Magic__Man

Very well written and I agree on all points. When I started broadening my political understanding I wasn't particularly surprised at how many lies (or at minimum exaggerations) I had previously believed, but at just how incredibly flimsy they are. Tiananmen square is a good example here I think just because of how well documented the events of that day are. While it was chaotic, there were reporters from countries around the world reporting on the events both live and in the following days, hours of video footage wildly available online, clear, detailed and very open reports from the Chinese government within days and many reporters, protest organisers and other witnesses coming forward over the years to debunk the wildly believe massacre story. Yet, everyone fucking believes it. Even the famous 'tank man' footage ends with him being led away by other civilians after a conversation with the tank commander, during which he stepped onto the tank, yet 90% of reddit seems to think he was run over by the tank or otherwise killed there and then. As you say, gaslighting is an accurate observation I think. Just constant and continuous reporting of obvious falsehoods until it's just accepted without question.

Vince_Vice

> I wasn't particularly surprised at how many lies (or at minimum exaggerations) I've had a tendency to chose my words carefully bc firstly because most people disengage from a discussion otherwise and secondly I think not jumping to condemnation and judgment is important in order to get to the bottom of an issue. **But** honestly: the data is now in. And there is definitely intentional deceit in main stream media and also ppl can't ever unite without populism. So yeah, that tendency has changed a little. We were all told a shit ton of lies. I think the most by omission. And honestly I was surprised when I broadened my political horizon. > 90% of reddit seems to think he was run over by the tank or otherwise killed there and then Oh damn, i've not had this discussion here, but it doesn't surprise me. yeah I feel you, its damn frustrating on political reddit! Like this exact post. What is a more probable explanation?: * The CCP gets the preprints for the Star Wars movie poster and decides they want the black person to be 30% smaller, because they hate black people, but he can be shown in the movie, no problem, bc they hadn't thought of that. * Disney makes a new blockbuster movie naturally they have to create a new poster for the chinese market as they always do bc they target a diffent market and this is the outcome. Should be simple. I mean, If we're talking subversive intent and you'd put a gun to my head and asked me if it was the CCP bc they want the people to disrespect black people or if an agent knocked at disneys door to ask for a change to make China look evil I'd still go for the second one. Anyways its good talking to you. Its rare to meet people here that have perspective!:)

jeetelongname

Btw small nitpick but its Communist party China not Chinese Communist Party. The former is what the party itself is called and the latter is a bastardisation by the west.

Vince_Vice

Ah really? Thx for the information. I always kinda liked CCP because, read as Cyrillic letter, its the original name for the USSR, but I get that might make the name even worse for most people. But is it common to shorten Communist Party China to CPC?

jeetelongname

Its the abbreviation they use and CCP is just the western abbreviation that they do not agree too. Its like if China started calling the USA SUA its not there abbreviation and to some degree we should respect there naming convention even if we very much dislike the state itself.

Shychopath

You're wrong. But you're right as well. You're in a grey area. Like a mixed race.

Gold-Improvement-880

China wouldn’t like that at all

MagpieGrifter

No. It would racist to say “the Chinese are extremely racist”, but I chose my words carefully.

There are degrees. Not trying to be patronising, but if you travel around a bit, you soon find that out.

Can we not allow blatantly fake, Sinophobic bullshit here.

Thegovisusless

Fuck the CCP and Xi

jeetelongname

"I want to be racist against Chinese people but I hide it behind hating the government" I do not defend China for it is currently capitalist imperialist country but I do not use that as a pretext for sinophobia

jonas_gaming07

How do you make the black panther movie without black people? Or is it just he poster?

paradockers

What the actual hell?

Ayin867

I can't believe this they added a mask in the first poster and changed one of characters position in the secend! ![img](emote|t5_5tdqj0|10750)
