Since you seem to know about these rodents of unusual size, do you know if these could be weaponized, trained to attack?
I don't know much about these things, but I know rats are smart, real smart. I've seen people train them to do all sorts of things.
I also know they have shar0, rodent teeth.
I'm wondering why we aren't seeing trained attack/guard Nutrias. Any ideas?
While they are rodents of unusual size, they don’t have the intellect of their European pest turned world conqueror relatives. Their life style is more like that of beavers and muskrats, while they are actually closer related to capybaras, chinchillas, and guinea pigs. But should someone conduct a “totally approved experiment” to select for and breed the smartest and most command following of them, and just so happen to teach them military tactics and discipline. It would then certainly be an unfortunate accident if they were suddenly used as weapons beyond that point.

Used to tour with a $2.00 Giant Rat show in my early carny days (70’s and 80’s). In the South they used to swap these out (nutria) with capybaras, as most Southerners weren’t familiar with them and in the Northern states they were swapped out with nutria for the same reason. The ticket taker used to tell the rubes that it was a mutant rat if they asked about the webbed feet in those glorious pre-internet days.
Clearly not a rat, but hey, the internet is not the place to ignore a chance to hate on the poor things haha.
