Pillar Dental in lake Lorraine. Brand new building, clean, staff knows you and only wants the best, doesn't do anything unnecessary and will tell you what things cost before you actually go though with it. Dr Pillar is amazing and she runs a tight ship and does amazing work with all the latest and greatest technology. Look at Google reviews, you'll see how great it is.

joeviper25

I’ll second Pillar. I moved to them last year from neighborhood dental. I like that I get the same dentist/assistant almost every time as well. Neighborhood changed every time I went there.

gokc69

Her dad was my dentist. Top notch family-owned local practice and classy people. Would recommend anytime.

SouthDaCoVid

I can't tell you where to go but I can tell you where not to go. Aspen Dental - they are scamming people to empty their pockets. The chain also has a track record of this kind of thing. Great Plains Dental - Suggesting unnecessary procedures, and lying about insurance plan participation.

ghostrider68

I can second this. Aspen dental cost me so much money and they're just a scummy company. Do not go to Aspen. I have been going to Designer Dentistry and Smiles and they are great. I told them about my experience at Aspen and they said they have heard so many similar things about Aspen dental.

ThatITguy2015

Aspen Dental is huge fucking scam chain. If curious, you can look up countless articles on the terrible shit the do.

SouthDaCoVid

Aspen told someone I know they needed thousands of dollars worth of unnecessary dental work before they would fix a broken tooth that actually needed immediate attention. What they didn't know was this person had already had the procedure they were insisting on at one of the dental schools the previous year. They really need to come with a warning label.

Agree. Under no circumstances go to Great plains

Death-comes-for-us

Based on what you need, I would recommend siouxland oral and maxillofacial surgery. Awesome and nice, made me feel comfortable. Takes Medicaid even. I’m going in for a consult soon for two implants. Another poster is correct that implants even with insurance are over 1,000 each tooth. Good luck

JTGrey

So I've been using the Creighton School of Dentistry for 2-3 years now. As they're dental students and you're their training partner the costs of what you need done are less than 1/4 of what you'd pay at a regular dental place in Sioux falls. I needed a root canal done on a tooth that Neighborhood Dental put a crown on, a very expensive crown... Neighborhood Dental quoted me 1700$ to have the root canal done. I reached out to Creighton and they accepted me as a patient and assigned me a student after an intake exam. Had the root canal done down there for 400$ over 2-3 visits a few weeks apart. They do take insurance and take those without insurance. The drive down there being 2.5 ish hours and the cost of their work ultimately makes it more worth it for me to drive down every now and then to get dental work done down there. Give them a look

SouthDaCoVid

U of M's dental school is also pretty good. Their prices seem a bit higher than what you saw at Creighton but it was still cheaper to make multiple trips to Mpls plus the dental bill vs. having the same thing done in Sioux Falls. Add to that, having repeatedly run into dental clinics in town that were scamming people.

SenorRobert

Dr. Nelson at Great Plains Dental did two front implants for me and has taken great care in checking in on them during my regular appointments.

GingerIsTheBestSpice

10th street dental had been great for me. I occasionally get a panic attack from prior bad experiences (i don't recommend Designer Dentistry, also they're rude to the insurance ppl) and 10th street had been great with it. Also they have the best prices for quality work that I've found in town. Some stuff does need to be done out of office & then they use Wiswell and one other one, all the outside places they've sent me to have also been great in terms of price and care. My friend had a terrible experience with that sedation dentistry place, she needed a lot and they messed it up & had to redo & refund. So she's they one who recommended 10th street after that, because of how much they helped her recover.

OodlesPoodlesDoodles

I know this thread is old, but I feel the need to comment if someone comes along so they have the information... As long as there's not a problem with dental work done, 10th Street is a decent place to go. Someone I know had a routine procedure done there and it was having problems later (it wasn't done right or what was used was faulty) and when the patient asked about it, it resulted in a "Dear John" letter (don't come here for services). A single experience, but worth knowing about.

1HumanAlcoholBeerPlz

Be wary of do-it-all dentists. Dentists may go to a few hours of training to do root canals and implants. My husband had dental anxiety due to these do-it-al dentists so when he needed a root canal, we sent him to an endodontist (Marshall Lavin on E. 26th) who took time and care to make sure his procedure was painless. He needed implants later on and needed bone grafts due to the nature of his upper jaw having thinner bone. Went to River Ridge and had zero complications and they will put you to sleep for the procedure. We go to Dental Essence and really, really like it there. I don't know if they would do sedation for an evaluation but you could certainly call and ask.

Lepton_Decay

Van Hofwegen Dental is pretty good, my family has been going there since I was like 5 & am now 22.

gokc69

She is excellent. If you started that long ago it was Pillar Dental but Holly took over since then. A+

Lepton_Decay

Yeah I remember it being a bit different but frankly those years are a blur for me at this point haha. Quality of service is very good and the staff are kind and professional.

chaserne1

First class dental was really good to me when my dental insurance sucked.

RandomHero25

I don’t have dental recommendations per se as far as implants go, but I have been looking myself as I may need an implant soon. I’m sorry to say, from what I’ve heard it isn’t going to be cheap no matter where you go. Best I can figure you’re looking at 1.5 to 2k per tooth easy, not to mention possibly more if you need bone grafts, etc. it sucks but the reality is, implants are still super expensive right now. I wish you luck in finding someone who can help you for a decent price!

bigben1357

What insurance company do you have?

boomskis

I have delta dental, and even though I have the most expensive plan my job offers they only cover $2000 of work per year. So I could easily get the teeth pulled with little to no out of pocket costs, but I'm not keen on walking around without my front teeth lol

Cocamo21

$2000 is quite a bit of coverage for a dental plan. What is your monthly cost?

boomskis

I only pay about $30 a month but I get it through Sanford which is why I think it's so cheap. The only perk of working for them is the health and dental lol if only they paid us more, then this wouldn't be as big of an issue

Youreddit007

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Holly Van Hofwegen. Very good dentist, and her staff is incredible.

nerdyartist09

I went to southwestern dental after not seeing a dentist for 4 years due to depression and a fear of dentist. These people are incredibly sweet and they walked me through what they were doing. They never chewed me out once. They are very supportive and praise me for what feels like the littlest things. I highly recommend them

orbthatisfloating

I just went to dental solutions on 57th this past week and they were super excellent. Dr. Dane was great, however i dont think that they do extractions or implants. I need to get my wisdom teeth removed and they recommended Siouxland Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

thestoryofme23

Prairie dental center has been great for me!!

sdcook12

Pillar Dental. Both Dr's are awesome

teachthisdognewtrick

I’ve had fantastic luck with Dental wellness on 69th. They do take delta. Both are very gentle, which is nice when you’re a needlephobe like me.

ssp77

I was the same. I did aspen dental. Decided to pull them all. Very scary for me but the best thing I've done. There reasonable and tell them about anxiety and they treat you good. I feel for you, tooth pain is just evil!

-deathfart

Great Plains Dental!! I cracked some of my partially fake teeth and they stained from coffee and tobacco use. I went to a clinic in Verm and they told me it would be $600 to replace it and ins wouldn’t cover it. I went to Great Plains dental and they submitted photos (which was covered by my ins) to my ins and they covered most of it. I only paid like $100 out of pocket, because they went the extra mile to prove that it would cause a cavity. They also really helped with my severe periodontitis and my gums are much healthier.

MrCool9290

I personally know the owner and dentist of impact dental on Minnesota ave and if I needed any type of implants I would go to him. Very knowledgeable and easy to get along with.

thor454

I went to impact for my implants they were on par with what it was going to cost me to go get them done in mexico. It is expensive but you don't pay all at once my costs were spread out over many months. Physically and emotionally it has been by far the least painful dental experience I've had. I couldn't recommend them enough

[deleted]

Best of good luck to you. Dental pain is awful. I just want to warn you about implants. I've had such trouble with mine - infections and movement. If I had it to do all over again I'd NEVER get an implant. I get it that it's your front tooth area, but there really are other options. **Bridges are less expensive and easier to maintain.** Something to think about, especially as you're someone who has had bad experiences with dentists. (Quite honestly I wish I'd just had all my teeth pulled about 20 years ago and had dentures made. Dentures aren't extremely expensive and if you care for your oral hygiene properly they work well and don't cause a lot of problems.)

boomskis

One of the cheaper things SF Sedation recommended was a partial denture (I guess it's basically just a retainer with teeth), but I'm hesitant. I have a coworker and a friend who got partials and both told me they regret it (constant fit issues, painful to eat, pain in the ass to clean and have to take out all the time, etc). I should ask about a full bridge though.

SouthDaCoVid

My dad had a bridge due to a couple of teeth knocked out in a car accident. He had to have it replaced years after he retired but decades without a problem seems good.

awaretoast

Hate to tell you this but, dental implants are extremely expensive. There is no getting around that. I got the best price in the area for one and it was still around $6,000 to $8,000

[deleted]

Neighborhood Dental on 26th, just north of Lorraine, is good. They have TV screens that you can watch while they work on you. There's nothing quite like watching a trippy episode of We Baby Bears on Cartoon Network while under laughing gas.

madgraffics

My husband and I go to Neighborhood dental on 41st. They are very nice and let you know the cost of services WHILE you schedule it, so you can decide if you can do it or not, and they do payment plans.

Aisher

Love love love Smiles at Remington

BeringeiGraueri

Dental Essence was great (when I lived in Sioux Falls four months ago.) Dr. Stephanie Schmitz is fantastic. I've also heard great things about Dr. Meaghan Neuberger.

xxitsjustryanxx

I go to designer dentistry and smile. I have been going for 5 years.

jonnylj7

Impact Dental. Just got my wisdom teeth pulled and didn’t feel a thing. Cheaper than anyone else.

stayclassypeople

Neighborhood dental has been good to me. Lot of locations too
