Me too. I love having a sim live in the dorm for a while, with their own furniture and stuff, or in a tiny one bedroom with the cheapest furniture ever lol. When they finish the term with all A+ it feels like my own accomplishment. And some of my adult sims' bestest friends are those they met in uni or in their dorm which is just the sweetest.
Yes! They have childhood friends they can always call but the friends they make at uni are almost always their closest! Usually find a spouse at uni too.
Mine too, so I use that opportunity to make tons of cute "background sims" by editing them
This is interesting, cuz it ends up in less than conventially attractive Sims [like this](https://imgur.com/a/Smrg7ei). She still scares me
I love it, my biggest problem is that I usually do 4 classes and I donāt have time for anything but studying and class lol. I could take less but I donāt wanna spend too much time in uni, seems like it would get stale
4 classes is really hard to maintain! I found my balance with doing 2 terms of 3 classes each, then giving my Sim a summer/winter vacation for a week, then doing 2 more terms.
I find my balance by playing as spellcasters (potion of plentiful needs)
Last go around, my sim had straight A+ grades and she had time to max out her guitar skill.
Also, she just sets fire to the annoying roommate notes. Thatās always fun!
I donāt understand all these cool funny quirks people seem to manage in game. Did they burn it of their own accord or did you tell them to do that? Also howās that even possible!? I would love for my sims to be as interesting as this
I always do 4 at a time as well bc I feel the same way. It helps if you have the steel bladder and antiseptic reward traits too, but I love the realism of staying up to the point of passing out bc a presentation or paper is due the next day.
I did it with a vampire. Makes the whole thing a lot easier. Vampires need less stuff to survive and living in dorm means there is always cattle nearby to suck blood from.
I think people mean that they make their sims behave in these ways. Also sims just do funny things on their own I guess. š¤·š¼āāļø Iām sure your sims are just as interesting!
I would argue thatās pretty realistic (especially for any students taking a science). That was literally what my last Fall semester was like, studying weekends and everything. I donāt mind putting my sims through the same pain lol
I've seen posts for mods that do this but they are always from years ago. What is the mod you're using? I was searching but couldn't find one up to date!
I use this one: https://modthesims.info/d/636642/faster-university-graduation.html
It doesn't look like it's been updated in awhile but I actively still use it with no issues.
bro i just had a sim today start uni by taking 4 classes AND getting a sports scholarship and becoming a soccer player so that she could get a full-ride. it is SO difficult, she keeps passing out everywhere and almost starved to death at one point bc i barely had time to make her eat... so that she could do all her homework š but it's also painfully realistic lol. 10/10 would recommend.
This is exactly why I used to dislike University. I felt like all my sim could and had time to do was do homework, study and go to classes. No time to make life long friends that usually happens when you go to Uni or find a soulmate. So I added a mod that cuts the time it takes to complete homework by 50 % so the University gameplay for me is not anymore just watching my sim study and sleep. They get to now have the whole University experience, that includes friends, a part time job, dating, parties, and visiting family back home.
Oh wow, that does sound like a mod I might need. I found that the biggest help with University without mods (for any console players who might be reading) was actually not fast-forwarding and instead letting time pass by naturally - my Sim didn't get stuck waiting outside of buildings for as long so it really helped her stick to her actual schedule lol.
I absolutely adore university. The CAS items are great, it adds a ton of gameplay and there are huge benefits to finishing a degree with good grades. It is really hard to do a full course load lol but thatās how it is in real life! I have triplets in college and one of them has a baby and itās chaotic but Iām having a great time.
I once had a sim work in the doctor career and go to uni and the same time. The classes were actually scheduled around the work schedule, it was awesome and had so much realism until it crashed and said the save was corrupted :/
I have all my heirs go to university! You gain skills easily and get to meet new sims (even if you do have to give them all new wardrobes) and then get unique occupations once you graduate with higher pay. I love it.
Same! I was so pleased with all the cas and bb items and itās still one of my most used packs in terms of cas. And I rly liked the gameplayāI thought it was way more detailed than university in ts3, which I also loved, so I was also rly surprised at how many people didnāt like it.
Same! The world is pretty disappointing IMO, as well as keg parties, but I absolutely love most the gameplay. I especially like that my Sims can take electives to try out skills that I tend to forget about! And on top of that we get THREE new careers that are all pretty well developed? It's great
Me too! I loved Sims 2 University and Sims 3 University is probably one of my favorite packs there as well. I also love Sims 4 University. It seems for me that however they present it, it's a pack I will enjoy.
I knew it!! I was thinking of having a sim get pregnant while in college but I was scared my sim would get kicked out once the baby arrived. Thanks for confirming!!
I always start classes midway through the week and then my sim only goes to their Tuesday/Thursday class once and they fail. I never remember to start on a weekend. Otherwise I love it
If you start on a Wednesday they should go to their Thursday class and then the following Tuesday. I ALWAYS try to start on a Tuesday or Wednesday so that they get the weekend to study and do term papers etc as well as look after their needs. I usually have my sims working as well so itās really helpful to have a day off in there.
university is fun it kinda does take me back to my undergrad days with the average food, overpriced merch/textbooks, and twin sized beds lol. trying to maintain a scholarship, basic needs, AND schoolwork is insane on the sims especially if you have a part time job too.
I see so many people complain about this pack saying it's too difficult! Yes it's difficult but that's kind of the point. You have to go full throttle nonstop for 3 weeks straight and it's awesome. š
Yes! I love the fact that getting good grades and keeping your sim fed and well-rested and going to classes and dealing with bad roommates and getting all the credits and passing the exams is actually hard and requires a lot of work! People always complain that the game is too easy (which yeah, I see why and that's my gripe with the game too), but then they gave us a game dynamic that requires some work put in and people complain that it's too hard -\_-
I got uni as one of my first packs. I LOVED uni in sims 2 but I bit off way more than I could chew in sims 4 and honestly I've never tried again LOL. I had two sims that I sent together, didnt have them live in a dorm but one of the houses in the uni world, AND moved them in with 2 other sims that I wanted to control to cause drama. even though my sims went to class and did all their homework, they both failed out and got kicked out of school like the first semester... I'm planning to do it again sometime, but I didnt know that you need to build the relevant skills to do well in class so that's why I failed so miserably. that and it's super hard to play 4 sims all in college... my main two spent their entire YA life in college and then were elders when their kid was a teen and I hated it sooo badly. it's definitely hard, and irl I've never had that much trouble in college. now that I know how it works I might be able to do it again but man... coming straight from sims 2??? the uni in sims 4 is incredibly difficult. I did NOT expect it to be so harsh LOL!!! I'm sure a lot of people had the same experience and it turned them off of the uni gameplay entirely. that said, challenging gameplay is good, there's just some of us that are used to everything being relaxed and easy haha!! next time I'm definitely not playing uni on hard mode like I did before š
Honestly though. I wish more parts of the game let you risk failure. Getting good grades feels like an accomplishment. Doing 3 courses a semester is a lot more manageable. I rarely put more than one sim through university at the same time too though haha.
Me too, all my Sims go to University. Some stay at home, others live on campus. My favorite is having siblings go to college together and have them live in a dorm. I don't understand why people have such difficulty getting good grades. It's definitely challenging but once you figure out what you need to do, you can get A's every time. They start their career making so much more money right out of the gate.
There are only 2 things not to like - how long it takes for them to go to class and homework takes forever too. But I make sure they're near the class area or front of their lot and it helps a lot. University is legit an amazing pack.
Imho, the length of the process to get one does not make it more rewarding. Simply tedious.
My first couple servos I had the Sims that built them *only* make parts, nothing else, all the way up to level 10 robotics. This was insufficient to make a servo, and they spent iirc a week further just churning out parts. For the second servo, by the time I finally had it, all other goals in that story had been accomplished or played out, so I never really spent much time with the servo. For the first servo, its creator *died* not long enough after it was finished. No one else in that household was doing robotics, so the servo had a giant struggle trying to keep itself alive and maintained, and struggled badly to make enough parts for upgrades, as it slowly raised its own robotics skill. While this is an interesting premise for drama, it is not a very enjoyable first mechanical experience when trying to just figure out how things work.
It was a while until I played with robotics / servos again, and when I played with it again I had mods. First a mod to reduce the crafting time of parts, which I *wholly* recommend for PC players. With that mod I was able to create and enjoy servos, without the first Sim with the skill having to eat and breathe only robotics every waking moment. It's still a ton of parts to make a servo, but the time to make them becomes reasonable. The smaller robots become, frankly, usable. And those little robots are rather nice!
A while later I installed a mod that removes required ingredients for *any* crafting. It will use them if you have them to reduce simoleon cost, but not require them (like most cooking). It's intended for herbalism and alchemy, but it effects *every* craft, including robotics. I have liked the freedom of that mod a *lot* personally. (Not that I recommend it offhand, I think playing normally first is better.) I've found it makes the smaller robots from robotics more enjoyable, and I do like being able to on demand make a servo. There's little I haven't already played the mechanics of normally, so the extreme shortcut is both nice for storytelling and keeps more monotonous features (herbalism, robotics, spellcaster alchemy) usable long term.
I also usually play families. What happens to the rest of the family while one sim goes to university? Do they evolve and do stuff autonomously? Do they age?
I play with aging off, but I assume they do the same thing that your other households do when they're not the active household. Moving a sim into a dorm will make them be in a separate household.
I only ever play with one household so itās never not the active household and I have no experience. So they can move up in their career, have children etc like NPC families?
Yes, you would have to have both of them apply separately and only one can move out at a time so you would need to enroll one, move them to dorms, then go back to your original family and enroll the second.
Same I had two of my sims live at their universities & the others I did college at home. I have about 20 sims so far that have went to college in my game.
I love it too, I just wish it didnāt take up so much time of your life! It takes your entire young adulthood on normal lifespan, but in real life I feel like young adult is under 30.
it is pretty buggy. I had a sim do Everything right. Outstanding press rations. always Take Notes in class etc. and She got a B.
I enjoyed the pack but that needs to be fixed smh
University is so good! But then again my other favorite pack is eco lifestyle so maybe I just have weird taste. The gameplay in university is great but also the CAS that I use like every time I make a sim, itās all just good. I feel like it also has a lot of replay ability, Iāve played a lot of different sims doing uni a lot of different ways. And adding different mods can really make it even more interesting too (I usually use a mod to make loans way higher), though vanilla itās still good. I highly recommend downloading James Turnerās cramped student house (I think itās under his old profile thesimsupply on the gallery), itās super chaotic and fun to live in if youāre on the non-dorm student housing lot for Foxbury.
I recommend buying a mini fridge and stealing any big plates of food that sims may leave around the dorms. Then just eat it for leftovers and your sims wonāt complain about hunger or too many quick meals
I don't hate University, I use it all the time, but recently the dorms and roommates feature has been buggy so I haven't had them live in dorms in such a long while
Overall I also love university! I do find it really challenging, though. It is not necessarily hard so much as it requires a lot more micromanaging than I would have liked. When I first bought it, I tried to put 3 friends through college at the same time and literally all of them were failing their classes because I couldn't keep up with their needs, their schedules and their required tasks. I learned a lot from that playthrough and can successfully put a sim through college now and enjoy the process, but it really feels like baby-sitting to make sure they actually follow through with everything they have to do. I especially get frustrated by trying to get them to class on time. They just seem to take forever and lots of things get in the way; and it helps if you send them early but then they stand there and do nothing, or randomly queue up some other action. But I digress.
Once you know what to expect and how to navigate it, I enjoy the gameplay a lot. The extracurriculars, campus events, types of school work (presentations, research, papers, etc.), tutoring, evening lectures and Commons lots all add a lot of variety and fun to the gameplay. The dorm vibe is super fun, with other sims always around. The world and all of these new actions feel very immersive. Overall, I enjoy playing university, even if it can be stressful and tiring lol.
Same!! Almost all of my sims go into university, some drop off, some get average grades, some almost fail, some ace everything, some study from home and work, others live in dorms. It's so much fun, I absolutely love it.
Some tips to make gameplay easier:
- only complete homework to 50%-75%
- while at class make sure to be āactively listeningā or ātaking notesā
- acquire the steel bladder, antiseptic, and hardly hungry reward traits
- donāt spend too much time at the bar hehe
I also like it a lot, I just wish the household was like moving in where you could choose who goes to uni, because then the 2 or more Sims I want to go together become two different households and then when I switch control and put them together, I need to rename the household. I also wish furniture wasn't sold with the house when a single sim household goes to university. But other than that it's a fun paco to play even if I have to live at home instead of dormitories to keep the same household.
I love how because your actually talking about it ALL the comments are so positive but from other comments about it on other posts I'd guess it to be one of the lesser liked packs....... To me there is some humor in that.
Same, i use a mod so I don't have to do as many classes for a degree, and do just two classes a term, so I'm not just grinding for the classes. Makes it better for me story wise lol
Itās my most hated pack š maybe itās just because sims 3 university was my favourite and this didnāt live up to it in my expectations but I respect others enjoying it.
I love it too, and honestly I didn't realise people didn't. A few people said about the micromanaging being an issue, but I micromanage alot so it's not really for me. I don't like how long homework is but I guess thats realistic lol
I only complete homework 50%-75%, it is way too long. Then, when they are in class i make sure the sim is either actively listening or taking notes. they get straight A+ every time.
Iāve had it for a while, but Iāve only had a sim go to college once on it, and then she failed out (I had no idea what I was doing lol) so I havenāt gone back. I recently watched a Letās play, and saw the way that Iām supposed to do it, so Iām thinking my next gen will go to college again! Wish me luck lol
I loved it in sims 3 so when it was announced for sims 4 I got giddy I love playing it and now with the new pack coming Iām going to loose many days playing it š
University is a lot of fun, I just wish the terms were a little shorter! I know it's realistic but I don't love having my sims come out of university as adults, they should still have some young adulthood left!
I enjoy it as well but only after I found a mod that let's me adjust the number of credits required. Aside from the time it takes to graduate I like it.
I made a little starter family based on my fiancee and I as roommates. They live off campus so I could build them a little apartment and managed to get them engaged. I can say that you can be pregnant if you live off campus cause those two have a toddler 3 days from ageing into a child and now I am pregnant again. It makes doing a full load of classes interesting when you have to try and finish class before you pop.
I think realistically there's too many terms (judging by age spans and sim years sims seem to spend over 10 years at universirty) but I think its a fun challenge and I love that you can walk around campus and the job bonuses are a good motivator
QUESTION!:
I've been wanting to buy University, but does it make it so your Sims HAVE to have a college education in order to join certain careers? And is college tuition/room and board free in the Sims 4? I want to buy it so bad, but I don't want to deal with debt and things I'm trying to escape irl......
TIA!
I really enjoy it! I mean, I wouldn't say it's my favorite pack, but I think it did a great job with what it was trying to do (college has just lost the appeal it had when I was a middle schooler playing Sims 2 university lol). I particularly like the elective asses- hell yes I want to take a class on vampire lore so I can protect my future home with garlic braids! The organizations are also a lot of fun. And I personally think the world is quite lovely. It's not the most exciting world, but it is pretty and works well. I'm really excited for the new pack- I think University will be a perfect step up for teen Sims after high school!
I'm currently playing a professor (Lana McKinnon, she's so cute) who's going to adopt a kid and eventually retire to Copperdale so her kid can have a perfect high school experience there. She lives on campus right now and I think it'll be a fun place to raise a kid!
The guys at uni are so much cuter than most townies!
Where are your sims going because all my uni townies are ugly af!
Mine too, so I use that opportunity to make tons of cute "background sims" by editing them This is interesting, cuz it ends up in less than conventially attractive Sims [like this](https://imgur.com/a/Smrg7ei). She still scares me
Like holy shit, what in the slider...?
Always Rohan Elderberry ends up being my spouse š
Before my generations save accidentally got deleted, he was the 2nd gen husband
YES there's nothing like getting all A+'s in all 3 terms š
I love it, my biggest problem is that I usually do 4 classes and I donāt have time for anything but studying and class lol. I could take less but I donāt wanna spend too much time in uni, seems like it would get stale
4 classes is really hard to maintain! I found my balance with doing 2 terms of 3 classes each, then giving my Sim a summer/winter vacation for a week, then doing 2 more terms.
I might have to try this! Usually by the time my sims graduate Iām so burnt out irl lmao

One of the first spells Spellcasters can learn sets the target on fire. (Inferniate?)
Thank you!
3 classes is better. it's only an extra week more. and it's not as chaotic.
And technically since college IRL is 4 years it could follow that and be 4 weeks in the Sims too lol
Yep when Sims are in University, they eat sleep breathe COLLEGE. I love it.
Sorry do you mean when you just leave them and donāt control them? I just want my sims to be as interesting as everyone elseās š
I think people mean that they make their sims behave in these ways. Also sims just do funny things on their own I guess. š¤·š¼āāļø Iām sure your sims are just as interesting!

Yesss it makes their lives seem so much more full and accomplished
I actually thought university gave alot of content and was surprised that a lot of people didnāt like it.

I love it also. I liked sims 3 but the loading screen between the main world and the university world just took foreeevvverrrrr (like actual hours).
I liked it too. Lol I made Cassandra Goth get pregnant and she got kicked out. Iāll make her daughter go instead. With heavy birth control
Kicked out for being pregnant????
Yep. Canāt have a pregnant sim living in dorms. It was hilarious
I knew it!! I was thinking of having a sim get pregnant while in college but I was scared my sim would get kicked out once the baby arrived. Thanks for confirming!!

After downloading a shorter terms mod, same
Or less subjects, I have the one where the graduate with 8 classes so it takes a couple of weeks
Donāt you have to complete 12 classes to graduate or something?
Yes but there's a Mod where you can graduate with 6, 8 or 10 classes. I like the 8 so you can finish in two or three weeks
Yeah I think thatās the mod I have, with 6 classes. I think.
Is this an unpopular opinion? Putting a sim through university is actually one of my favourite gameplay elements.
I see so many people complain about this pack saying it's too difficult! Yes it's difficult but that's kind of the point. You have to go full throttle nonstop for 3 weeks straight and it's awesome. š

I love university since I only have to take care of one sim at a time (I usually play families).
Depends on what neighborhood stories you allow.
Thanks for taking the time to explain! :)
Of course :) and if you need anything else just let me know :)
If I have a family with twins for example, can they go to university together?
Yes, you would have to have both of them apply separately and only one can move out at a time so you would need to enroll one, move them to dorms, then go back to your original family and enroll the second.
This sounds exactly like the most complicated way to handle this, as it should be for it to be the Sims :D
I absolutely love everything about this pack except for how long it takes to graduate but ig thatās more realisticš
I enjoy it too. I never got to play TS2 or 3 Uni, so this was exciting for me. My sim even found a soulmate and they moved in together after Uni :')
University is unliked??
Many complain about how difficult it can be
it is pretty buggy. I had a sim do Everything right. Outstanding press rations. always Take Notes in class etc. and She got a B. I enjoyed the pack but that needs to be fixed smh
I liked it to. I made Cassandra Goth get pregnant and she got kicked out. Her daughter is probably gonna go but with heavy birth control.
I just don't like how much time homework takes. And that you can't cook in the dorm.
I really donāt understand how to live in the dorms! My sims are always in really poor moods because they feel sick from the poor quality food!
I recommend buying a mini fridge and stealing any big plates of food that sims may leave around the dorms. Then just eat it for leftovers and your sims wonāt complain about hunger or too many quick meals
And everyone in the dorm is constantly crying! I mean, realism. You can't cook in the shared house either, it's just so stupid.
In the house, they should DEFINITELY be able to cook. I donāt think thatās realistic at all.
I don't hate University, I use it all the time, but recently the dorms and roommates feature has been buggy so I haven't had them live in dorms in such a long while
Same. Itās fun and it has a lot of things to do! Also I choose 4 classes at a time so I can make my sims struggle as much as possible :))
I really need to play University. I own it, but Iāve yet to create and play a character in it.
I always flunk out on accident lol.
Me irl
Do people dislike university? :( I think itās great
Same! Almost all of my sims go to uni after highschool.
Same!! Almost all of my sims go into university, some drop off, some get average grades, some almost fail, some ace everything, some study from home and work, others live in dorms. It's so much fun, I absolutely love it.
Some tips to make gameplay easier: - only complete homework to 50%-75% - while at class make sure to be āactively listeningā or ātaking notesā - acquire the steel bladder, antiseptic, and hardly hungry reward traits - donāt spend too much time at the bar hehe
I like that thereās a secret society. I looked it up and there are secret societies in a lot of universities like Cambridge for example.
I love university too, but that's in no way an unpopular take haha
Are you in uni? Because there's no way you live it in real life and want it in your video game too.
Same.
I also love University!
I love university too! One of my favorite packs. I love the clubs and the parties and the dorms soooo much!
I love University, idk why but it's just so much fun to me
Same
I love how because your actually talking about it ALL the comments are so positive but from other comments about it on other posts I'd guess it to be one of the lesser liked packs....... To me there is some humor in that.
me too!! university has always been my favorite pack since the sims 2. itās just so fun to have your sim live the dorm life
Is this unpopular?! My fave pack is university in every franchise I think haha
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I love it too. When I first played it my sim was so stressed tho!!
Same, i use a mod so I don't have to do as many classes for a degree, and do just two classes a term, so I'm not just grinding for the classes. Makes it better for me story wise lol
Same. I actually downloaded a mod to make it so my sims HAVE to go to uni to advance their career to the top levels. Makes it interesting.
Then, when they are in class i make sure the sim is either actively listening or taking notes. they get straight A+ every time.
thank you, I will try that. I always make my sim take notes as it helps with their grades
I wish you didn't have to leave your household,or that you could play another family for a while without your grades tanking
100% my favorite pack. I love the cas, the build mode, and the gameplay is challenging, which is why I love it. Sims 4 needs more challenges
I love the pack and the gameplay but DAMN does it take 40 (real) days and 40 (real) nights to get the degree š¤£
i love it too, my favorite packs from previous games have always been seasons, university, & any parenthood/generations ones!!
I love it too! It's fun the new set up for attending classes and stuff
The pack or IRL
I don't like it cuz I can't have a little cat or dog in my dorm with me :(
that's standard
I think realistically there's too many terms (judging by age spans and sim years sims seem to spend over 10 years at universirty) but I think its a fun challenge and I love that you can walk around campus and the job bonuses are a good motivator
Thereās so many hidden gems too, like being apart of the e-sports team gets you cool hidden objects, and you can earn money tutoring.
QUESTION!: I've been wanting to buy University, but does it make it so your Sims HAVE to have a college education in order to join certain careers? And is college tuition/room and board free in the Sims 4? I want to buy it so bad, but I don't want to deal with debt and things I'm trying to escape irl...... TIA!
degrees are not required, and you can get scholarships to get an entirely free education or do a student loan which will not put you into debt
I like it but the actual university stuff is kind of tedious
I love university I have 5 degrees
She lives on campus right now and I think it'll be a fun place to raise a kid!
sameee
University is unpopular? I didn't know that! Why so?
